Scott is great. 16 yr old car with Honda CVT Transmission. Got it running again for a decent price. Scott and Brian keep the repairs to a high standard. May take additional time if new issues discovered.

Im not big on reviewing places, but have to here.This is my second car that I brought to them. My ex-mechanic told me I needed a transmission. Scott looked at it and fixed two leaks and no transmission needed. Same thing with my daughters car 3 years ago and they made a few repairs and its still running great..When it comes to your Transmission you need to bring your car here, mechanics do not know how to properly diagnose transmissions. Scott and Patricia are great, reasonably priced, and they know their stuff, they arent going to sell you something thats not needed..They could have easily said my mechanic was correct. Their honest and stand by there work.Highly recommend..Thanks again Scott.

Called asking for a quote and a time line on a transmission job for one of my work trucks. Scott was very knowledgeable and had very reasonable prices! Brought in my old 95 Econoline on short notice, and was taken care of completely! The AC compressor needed replacing, and the parts got there quickly and installed just as quick. I got a detailed explanation of what was happening so there were no surprise charges. I look forward to using them for this and my other vehicles.

Went in for my appointment and Scott happened to help me he was super friendly, explained to me how long it would take and what the mechanics would look at besides my oil which was great. So I had an issue with my 2002 Dodge Ram. Turned out it was the transmission had no where to go. Stumbled upon this shop, not only did the make the process easy by explaining everything professionally. The manager Scott was very knowledgeable and. Kept me in check and explained step by step what they did. Even. After my truck gave them issues while correcting it. They got the job done. Great customer service by Scott. Explained everything to me in detail. I’ve felt comfortable with his knowledge since the moment I called to explain my issues with my 2008 BMW X5 3.0. Had a crankshaft sensor changed due to the codes that came up. I recommend working with them. The BMW dealership gave me the run around and tried to charge me for something I didn’t need. They tried to break my transmission so I couldn’t leave. Went to get a quote there, it was the highest quote by far and with the possibility of it going “higher”, they “tested” the truck by flooring the engine while stationary and putting it into gear repeatedly at high revs, this is how you break a transmission, they are crooks plain and simple

I’m extremely impressed for the excellent customer service that Scott has giving me regarding my Transmission replacement. Not only was the price very reasonable, Scott walked me through the entire process and kept me up to date daily. Scott knew that this truck was for my 17 year old son so he made it a priority to check bumper to bumper as if the truck was going to one of his kids. He noticed that one of the calipers were binding up and replaced it along with the rear rotors and pad. I was shocked that the price for that was better than what my mechanic charged me for my car. It’s very difficult to find an automotive repair shop that is trustworthy and with reasonable prices not to mention a transmission shop that has those qualities. Scott can’t thank you enough. I havent gone through so much drama dealing with my 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. I literally had it fixed and within two weeks and broke down on me on my way leaving work at night. I was on 495, unfortunately my insurance did not cover for towing so I had to pay out of pocket. Fortunately, I had to reach out and get my transmission checked out as soon as possible. According to Scott, who is a mechanic at AAMCO, did a full diagnostic and took apart the entire transmission saw every problem and fixed it. the problems that I have to take now to court from all the documentation I will successfully win do to the good value of AAMCO. I have a lifetime warranty and I have full coverage let anything go faulty. I did my research prior to checking out Scott and The Business, which finalized the work which was given to me.Scott, I thank you very much for your word of advice and helping me so that I can succeed in this trouble sometime. I bought a used car and wanted to drain and replace the transmission fluid as I did not know the previous history. Scott was able to schedule my car and take it the next day as I called let in the day. Very professional.
I scheduled an appointment by making a request on AAMCO website. I received a phone call within 48 hours and they honored my request. Just as a note, I did request a date 1-2 weeks out from my request date. I also expected that they would need several days to evaluate and finalize the repairs.Anthony gave me a phone call, listened to what my concerns were and then he clearly explained how the process would work. I would bring in my car. They would evaluate for the items I was worried about but they would do their own inspection as well. Anthony gave me regular updates in regards to findings and future plans. I never had to call - he always called to let me know. Once the evaluation was done, we spoke at length where he explained each item and then the cost of repairs. He did try to save me money wherever I could but still get the work done.My car is 10 years old and I’ve driven it pretty hard and cross country multiple times. Drives much better now. He also stated to bring it back within a few weeks if I had any concerns.I appreciated the thoroughness, I appreciated the constant communication, and it was very helpful to have ONE person to talk to rather than multiple people exchanging information.Overall happy with the experience. Took about a week from drop off to pick up time. I never pressured them about the time - I preferred they be thorough rather than rush.

I was experiencing slippage between gears to the point where it was dangerous to drive, and when I got it back, the problem was solved, it now shifts smoothly with no issues. We have followed Scott from one now closed AAMCO to this one in Amityville. When it comes to our vehicles, you stay with who you know and trust, and for us it was and still is Scott! Today we took our vehicle in for a check engine light. Scott immediately had the vehicle checked, told us what the codes were, arranged transportation for us and will have the car ready by Tuesday! We met the owner, who greeted us and introduced himself, which is usually unheard of these days, we were immediately at ease. We will be referring everyone we know to them!

I went to AAMCO Amityville for transmission fluid change and oil change on my 2012 Toyota Camry. My appointment was at 8:30 am and it was ready around 11:35 am. From my past experience with dealer repair shops when I scheduled a maintenance, (I actually watched (glass window)) the mechanic would have my car on the lift and then walk away for lunch. After lunch, he took my car off the lift and claimed he did all the maintenance on the car. However, Scott at AAMCO Amityville was professional and his mechanic did NOT have my car sits on the lift and walk away like the dealer repair shops I experience in the past. They actually did change the transmission fluid and oil because my car drives a lot smoother! Thank you AAMCO of Amityville Team for being HONEST!
Great experience. Fast, honest, kind and reasonable.My sons Jeep Wrangler was stuck in 4-wheel drive. Local gas station fixed the cable to 4 wheel drive but broke the shift knob in the process. They called and told me, after fixing the cable, that I need a new transmission that would cost a couple of thousand dollars. I also had to pay $99 for a new knob that they broke. I decided to take it the dealership where I purchased it in 2015. Security Dodge Chrysler Jeep on Merrick Rd in Amityville. This dealership could not take a look at my vehicle until October 6th, a month away. I complained to the service manager and was told they were busy, maybe he could look at it in a few weeks. They make all kinds of promises when purchasing, but they dont deliver on service.I called and spoke with Scott at AAmco in Amityville on Sunrise. He looked at the car that day. Gave me an estimate the next morning. The car was fixed by the afternoon. It needed a few hours of repairs and didnt need a new transmission like my local service station said. I paid for 3 hours of labor. Very honest. I will use them to service this Jeep from now on. Thank you!!!

I am a strong believer in sharing a good review when good service is rendered.... AAMCO Amityville fit this bill.I drive an old truck, that we consider part of the family. For months we were having the strangest leak (only under pressure and only after driving over 65 MPH, transmission fluid would leak and stop leaking once I drove slower). I have been having a local general mechanic service it with trial and error fixes. The time and effort, the back and forth to the shop, and the increasing lack of confidence in each fix was driving me nuts. On Memorial Day weekend, when the latest fix failed, I reached my tipping point and I desperately hit the internet looking for a shop that was opened to see if they could help. Thats when I met Scott at AAMCO. While they were closing at noon for the holiday weekend, he said he would wait for me and take a look and that he should be able to diagnose the problem that day. He was honest and told me a fix would probably have to wait until Tuesday. I brought the truck in, they test drove it, diagnosed it and set a plan for the fix. I hesitantly left the truck over the weekend. They offered to keep it locked indoors for me until they reopened on Tuesday.Tuesday afternoon, I got the call that they were able to get the parts, and that the leak was fixed.Why the delay for my review.... well the truck is a weekend warrior, so I wanted to gt a few hundred miles on the fix before reviewing.... at high speeds and under pressure, she is leak free and driving great.In short... good people, great service, and they know their craft!!!!I have confidence in them, and you should too!I will be bringing the truck back for future repairs and upgrades!!!!

I dropped my car off without getting a chance to call them in advanced, as I was originally dropping it off at another nearby shop (but which did not do transmission work), and they replaced the broken part and inspected the vehicle for any potential hazards waiting to happen..all was done within a considerable amount of time and the fees were reasonable. I also noticed GOOD customer service.
After the other place couldnt work on my truck I started going here. They are very nice and helpful. Great work and price. Definitely be back to get more done.

Our transmission burned up and we picked this location because of the 5 star reviews. Scott started working on fixing the transmission the same day and had us back on the road in three days. My husband got the transmission rebuild done here but the constant price changes were disappointing. Initial estimation was between 1150-1700 but finally spent around 3k for transmission work which was our wrong decision. People are so trained to convince customers! Immediately after the service, we faced issues with front axle (lubricant leak) which I fixed at a different workshop because they did not agree its their mistake. If you have a lots of money and dont know how to spend it, then this is the right place !
Repair work is always a headache but AAMCO in Amityville put my worries at ease. Scott was informative and helpful. I ask a lot of questions- he was cool about all of them. I didn’t know they do other mechanic work besides transmissions. I hope I don’t need any work any time soon but when I do, that’s where I’ll be headed. I met the owner, Patricia, too. Love seeing female bosses in a commonly man driven field! She was super nice too and her employees spoke highly of her- which I think means a lot. Bottom line, AAMCO won we me over. Anddd they accepted a coupon from their website.

This is a extremely well run shop that obviously values their customer a great deal. You can tell by how well you are treated and how clean the shop is John the manager communicated with me every step of the way during my rebuild. He gave me updates on the progress, sometimes twice a day so I was never left wondering. The work was done in a very short time and the price was very fair. I highly recommend this shop. It is rare in this day and age to be treated so well when having any work done by a shop. I will be a repeat customer no doubt. Thanks John.

Update 09/28/19-After posting this review I was personally contacted by The owner of this AAMCO (Patricia Schneider).She was very concerned about my issue and I was told even out of warranty, as a customer of theres please bring the Jeep in and let their technicians look at it. What they determined is that I had not put a lot of mileage on the transmission and contacted the distributor . Their technicians belief that there had to be a defect in the transmission prior to being installed. After discussions and negotiations stating the case of the low mileage Patricia was able to secure a replacement from the distributorThis was unexpected. It was a 12/12 warranty and I respect that. What AAMCO has done is stood up for their customer above and beyond a warranty contract. They saw an issue with one of their customers and kept their (mine) customers interest first and foremost. I cannot thank them enough for doing this. If I could Id give a lot more then 5 stars.I have recommended this AAMCO in the past for the work they do, now in addition I will be emphasizing the way they stand behind their work and their customers.Thank you!George TorrusioI took my 2001 Jeep Wrangler 5 speed manual into the shop June 2018. It was making a rattling noise in the transmission while driving. after analysis it was determined that it needed to be rebuilt. I was given 3 options..1. rebuild mine...2. purchase a rebuilt .. 3 purchase a certified used rebuild. I was informed rebuilding my trans mission may cost more the a rebuilt. Going over the options , I was offered the certified rebuilt that normally has 6 month warranty would be given 12. I went with the certified used which included a new clutch,flywheel and throwout baring My decision and my mistake. shortly after the warranty expired (July/August 2019) the transmission is grinding in 2nd gear (syncos) .They rebuilt my sons Jeeps transmission 2 years ago still running like newBuying a certified used is as guaranteed as buying from a junk yard, unless its completely rebuilt and worn parts are replaced , its taking a chanceThey do great work..let them do the rebuild
My pickup was shifting rough between some of the higher gears, felt like it would not commit when it should go to the next gear, felt fine in the lower gears and the engine idled just fine. The truck had 187,000 + miles at the time I brought it in. Was thinking either I need the transmission, needed some serious work or needed a new/rebuilt transmission.Turns out it was the engine, under certain load conditions was not giving even pull. Not noticeable in the lower gears or an idle. So there is comfort that the truck was diagnosed properly. As for the running of the truck, feels like it hasn’t in years. Feels like a new engine really.

One word is missing from above - Honest! My car would not roll forward, thought it was transmission related, had it towed in. After Scotts teams troubleshooting, it was determined not to be transmission related at all. A repair was needed to correct poor caliper work from done by a different nation chain. Will definitely return to Amityville AAMCO for future maintenance/repairs.

Thought I was going to need a transmission I’m from queens all other shops were saying it was the transmission Aamco fixed the problem for 400 dollars keep in mind the transmission was going to cost 3k. I highly recommend you bring you’re car there
My transmission was leaking fluid so I brought it to here to see what was wrong. They checked it and discovered that I had corroded cooler lines. I let them fix and service it. No more leaks. I am happy with the service. Anthony and staff were very helpful and informative.

While on vacation on Long Island, our transmission went on our 2011 Toyota. Since it was a Sunday, no one was open. I called around and the only one to answer the phone was the shop owner at AAMCO. She was very friendly and sent a tow truck at no expense. The following day I found that my car was under an extended warranty and that it had to be repaired at a Toyota dealer. I called the shop and they were very understanding and told me that I did not owe them for the tow the previous day. This ordeal was a headache to say the least, but the kindness and professionalism of the owner and staff made this experience a little better. While I did not actually do business with AAMCO, it is clear to me that this location is run by honest, good -hearted folks that are more inclined to help people in need than squeeze people for every dime. Forever Grateful.

Called Anthony at AAMCO about an issue I was feeling in my car. They checked it out, couldnt replicate the problem but told me I could call and come back as soon as I feel the same issue. The mechanic Fransisco took the time to explain what they did with my car to try and locate the problem. I was very happy with how Anthony explained everything to me and tried to resolve my issue.

With the prices here OMG how do people survive they quoted me a price of 4800 to do my transmission in my car Ian is a crook. The owner she acts like its a good price no no no 2000 i had it done for in an independently owned repair shop a savings of 2800 but then you have to make shore it is rebuilt and not repaired. chose your shop wisely.

My 2010 had some work at an AAMCO near my home over 6 months ago. when my car broke down recently because of the symptoms i thought it may have been the transmission. Long story short the original AAMCO was no longer in business with no forwarding information. I contacted Amityville AAMCO and Anthony no only helped get me off of the dangerous road i was stuck on , he researched to find out if i was still under warranty. Turns out if was not my transmission . Anthony found the problem, explained it clearly and the work was done. I got follow ups the entire time my car was in their care. I was so pleased that when my sisters car broke down they were the first and only people i referred her to and she was pleased as well. Communication is the key.

Check Engine Light came on so I took my car into the BMW Dealer. They quoted me @ $1200 to replace all the spark plugs and the ignition coils. AAMCO offered to check out my car for free and were able to do do all the work (6 plugs and only 1 coil was needed) for a third of the price of BMW. Mechanics really know what theyre doing and the overall service was excellent.

I found Aamco by chance when my car was having trouble on the way to work. That annoying engine light came on and wouldnt go off. They took my car in that day and it genuinely needed a lot of work. John, the manager, hooked me up with the nearby Hertz and had me in a car in no time! When I got my car back it was driving better than when I had bought it! I have been back there several times with different issues (its my car, not Aamco) and each time my problem is resolved with the best of service. The mechanics are excellent and John always keeps me posted. I am by no means a car person but John is able to explain what is going on with my car and I understand it. I am learning more about cars and car parts because John takes the time to explain things. He is a great people person and an excellent business man. He has a good sense of humor and the best radio anonouncer voice. Lol...youll know what I mean when he answers the phone! I highly recommend Aamco in Hicksville. It is hard to find people you can trust to fix your car. They do more than transmissions and they even honor my after market warranty. Great place!

2022-03-08So glad I got a second opinion!! Noticed my car was not driving right, took to the dealer. I was not only informed my warranty expired 3,000 miles ago but I needed a new radiator and transmission?!. Thankfully we brought it to AAMCO for a second opinion. Turns out I needed a new condenser. We had that replaced and refilled transmission. Only driving the vehicle would tell if damage had been done to the transmission. Truck is driving great. I’ve never come across such an honest shop. They don’t push anything you. They diagnose and fix the problem. I would definitely recommend this shop, Nicholas the General Manger is great, knowledgeable and friendly.

2021-09-03Came here by good recommendations.Everybody took very good care of me and my car.. Found problems that were ignored by the previous business that serviced the car and it turns out there were some serious safety issues that were found and corrected. The staff keeps you informed up to date, all repairs were done in a timely fashion. The staff is very knowlegable, helpful, and pleasant to work with. I feel they went above and beyond to get me back on the road-but most important-safely.Thank you Scott, Pat, Jim and the rest of the crew.

2022-02-07My truck was making a knocking noise everytime I put it in gear and I thought it was my transmission, So I took it to AAMCO for the free 10 point check. Low and behold Nick the general manger found it wasnt my transmission it was my U joints. Nick went out of his way to get my U joints.... for my truck is a 2004 avalanche. He tried everything to get it back to me on Friday however I give him a 5+ because on Saturday I got my truck back and its running like it did when I first got it. 2021-10-11This place is a must when it comes to your car needs. When it comes to professionalism and efficiency in car repairs and maintenance, do yourself a favor and visit AAMCO. Brought my 2007 Ford escape on a Friday with very bad brake problems (needed new rotors, calipers, and pads all around) and by the next day everything was completely done. Scott was very helpful and knowledgable. Pricing was also fair, the entire breakdown of pricing is given before the work starts and on the receipt, along with a 1 year 12,000 mile guarantee. No other auto shops around the West Suffolk area will provide quality and assurance like them. Definitely my go to from this point on.
