It has more variety then a few back home. There was a spoiled noodle package in the seafood ramen pack, but its no worries! We just went and got another pack of rice udon noodles at the grocery store. My husband and I love this store and cant wait to go back and get more supplies for more at home meals.
They have the rudest cashiers and sales associates. If only there is some other asian store that offers a lot more products, I would gladly stop buying at this store. The bathrooms never have toilet seat covers and the soap dispenser is always broken. I have been a costumer since this store opened not by preference but by force of necessity but I have yet too encounter a cashier who have any inkling of what costumer service is all about.😒
If you are looking for authentic Asian fare, this very large square footage market is sure to have what you are looking for and then some.My only 2 concerns were the workers there arent very concerned about being helpful, its like they are in a rush to get by you so as not to stop...could just be a language quirk maybe, I certainly dont speak Asian in any form! I can point at a picture and hope I got it right. 2nd is they are a little pricey, but when you have the demand I guess you can charge for the supply. It was my first time here so go and make your own judgments! The lighting is very good, and overall it is also clean, items are fresh and surprisingly the fresh fish did not smell. Fresh fish, all kinds! I saw a tub full of frogs, I felt bad for them because I have a frog in my fish tank, a big boy!So go check out Asian Market I suggest bringing one or two of your Asian friends to make you look like you know what youre doing, I am & yes they are laughing because I say I didnt need help to buy my food...but I see I do. Have fun!
Ive gone here two times in the course of a year and I must say, I love it. Everything is so reasonably priced, tastes great, huge portions too! And the employees are very sweet and have manners!!! Its very hard to come by places like this today, so when I do find these stores I try and visit as often as possible. It is also very clean compared to the other stores around it. Ill be coming back in a few months again!!
Compliant with masking law. Sign reminds shoppers to don mask & gloves before entering. (Gloves arent part of the law; some shoppers wore them). Shoppers gave others space in this tight shop. Huge variety. Fresh fruits, vegetables (only in Asian markets), butcher, seafood and hot prepared foods. Freezer section. Organized by cuisine groupings ex: Thai, Chinese, Japanese etc.. numerous varieties of frozen dumplings. Sweets and snacks. Rice in small and vary large quantities. Robust housewares section from toothpicks to woks. Example of variety: perhaps a dozen brands of sesame oil. Choices can be overwhelming. Dont expect much help. If you need to find something, find a clerk and name the item, English isnt guaranterd. This is a place for serious shopping; not a cooking class. Cashiers will be speaking to each other (not you), so pay attention or you will miss the gesture to insert your credit card. They will hand you your bag at the other end on the counter with receipt in bag, so dont wait for it; pay and start walking! Only four stars due to lack of customer service and missing the barrels of dried foods found in Chinatown; but for a shop almost 3 hours from NYC, this covers most any basic Asian cooking need. Save the trip to NYC until after you check this place out first.
Very UNSANITARY, place was very NASTY , A ton of people trying to fit in a very small store . SMELLED very BAD !!! They were cutting up fish, floors were all messed up and nasty . VERY DISGUSTING !!! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone !!! The Health Department should close that place Down , Yes it really is that BAD !!!
Not only is this the best place to get fresh wild caught seafood. (like salmon steak) they also have great Deals & they are very nice as well as helpful. I purchased a whole salmon to get the best Deals. Not only do they clean it they will cut it to the size you requeste for free. Great place if your looking for something and your not sure the store have it. Just give them a call.
Lots of great asian stuff thats hard to find in the greater Albany area. Good prices. I think they need to bleach the drain daily in the fish department. A little bit strong for my nose. Lots of exotic produce, high quality rice and other ingredients. A gem for Albany to have a place like this
Quick shopping trip at the Asian Supermarket. This was fun and quick. Its a little crowded with product, but the space was adequate enough to get around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are alot of different sauces that I will be trying in the near future. And just so the public knows, you have not had a real egg, until youve had a duck egg. Also everyone there was covid compliant.
This place is always dirty, the man that works in the hot food area is always very rude because we have cards and not cash. I think hes pocketing the cash because he said theres no register there when there are two registers right on the counter. The manager noticed us standing there in our scrubs and told us we just have to wait in that line and we can always walk up front and pay. That was nice but its still always dirty and smells like rotting fish.
Love this place! Get ALL your types of ANY type of Asian products... The only other awareness Id like to share with you while you shop, the fresh seafood area is definitely pungent with fish smell... So if you dont like the smell of fish stay to the right of the market but this place is amazing and all reasonably priced!
A wide range of product and I am happy to have the establishment near our place. The only downside is the bad smell from the fish section permeating through the store and its unpleasant even with a mask to say the least. However, the selection of products makes it worth visiting the store.
Have shopped here several times in the past. Lots of good asian food supplies. This visit though the store seems to be going down hill. Could use a good scrubbing, seafood tanks are dirty, equipment needing repair or replacement. Store could benefit from some friendlier staff. Hopefully things turn around.
Always stopping in for the Chinese herbal remedies near the front counter. Dont get to walk through the store much but if I do I end up spending too much money. I already during checkout theres racks on both sides of snacks and it looks so good cant read whats in them but go by the picture and usually they are pretty good sometimes not so great that when you go back in the next time they have something different they dont ever keep the same things all the time
Don’t be fooled by the small building footprint—they manage to cram an obscene amount of groceries in here. Good deals to be had on fresh seafood and big jugs of Asian staples like peanut oil, rice wine vinegar, fish sauce. The noodle wall is overwhelming (in a good way). Produce is generally fresh and reasonably priced. Knocking a star because the seafood and meat departments could be cleaner and because the live frogs make me wanna pull an Elliot from E.T. and set them free outside.
Super disgusting, THEY ARE SELLING EXPIRED FOODS, ROTTEN AND SMELLING MEATS. THIS SHOULD be reported to proper authorities, we bought asian MEAT ON THEIR FRIDGE items and they are spoiled when opened. UNDISCIPLINED, NOT CONCERNED ON SELLING ROTTEN FOODS TO CUSTOMERS, Disorganized, not cleaned and no breads. NYC Asian supermarket stores are better on organizing than this.
I love to come here to stock up on snacks. Hokkaido cream bread buns are my go to.Theyve got great prices and selection for frozen snacks and meals as well! Never did I expect to find frozen takoyaki but I did (and I absolutely bought it).Curry roux, spices, veggies, you can find it all here. Stop in and expand your palette! My only crevat is that it isnt the cleanest store, but its by no means disgusting. You just may find things spilled on the floor sometimes, just watch your step.In all its the best Asian market in the Capital Region in my humble opinion, and a very worth while trip!
Very crowded, barely enough room to go through the isles. There is a smell upon entering, but most likely from the fish. The staff are not the friendliest and seem like you’re a bother if you ask them for help locating something. Love the wide variety of items though.
If youre looking for any east or southeast Asian ingredient theyll probably have it, and they have a good selection of Indian ingredients too. Sometimes its difficult to find things but its fun to explore. Wear a jacket because the entire store is kept cold. Prices are the best Ive seen for Asian ingredients in the area
Great place to shop, fish is inexpensive and you can buy whole shrimp and whole fish for less than the cost of an american grocery store. Why would you pay someone an extra 4 dollars a pound to throw something out you could use for stock. Vegetables and produce there are really good as well, meat is around average price but they do have selections not available at grocery stores as well that are good for multitude of cuisine. I always get my soy sauce there as well, as well as multiple other items now.
During a recent trip to Albany I was introduced to this market. Their selection is overwhelming - and they had eveything I looked for including favorite candies I havent enjoyed since the 80s, such as White Rabbit, still sold in the same iconic packaging. They have fair prices too and I scored some delicious kimchee for under five bucks which would have been more than double that at my local market. Their beverage aisles are a sight to behold. Any drink you may have happened upon at a late night deli stop was right there. Products representing the entire Asian continent and beyond were stocked in generous numbers. They take COVID protocols as seriously as any business and youre encouraged to wear gloves as well as masks inside. Highly recommended.
I was impressed with the noodle and instant ramen aisle they had. I actually came here because I was looking for particular instant noodles, Samyang. They are double the price on Amazon and I was happy to find them here. Premium instant noodles are awesome. One star less because the seafood section is right next to the noodles aisle, freaking pungent man
I visited Asian Supermarket last weekend. Even though with the 1.65M COVID-19 positive cases in New York State, they no longer controlled the number of people inside the tiny space. No temperature check, either. It was IMPOSSIBLE to keep 6 feet social distance at all. Neither as in check out line. They have limited space without fresh air but allowed as many as customers to get in. I would rather choose another place of shopping, which is safer, limits the number of visitors and allows everyone to keep social distancing.
Lots of choices!!! - This market is very spacious and you can find anything from freshly made food and baked goods, frozen food, seasonings and dishes/cutlery to make any Asian dish you desire. The steamed pork buns are so yummy! The selection is so extensive, you honestly need multiple visits to tackle the whole thing. Definitely will be back to grab some more ramen 😁🍜🥟.
The selection here is fantastic. If you need ingredients for Asian cuisine, this place probably has it. My only complaints are that the aisles are very narrow and the parking lot is too small. I havent been here when its not crowded, which I take as a good sign.I hear the business is moving just up the road to a larger building with better parking; I hope thats true!
Lots of great international food options here, including Asian, Caribbean, and Latin American. The selection of African and European food is very small, considering the focus on Asian groceries. Great selection of fresh fruits, as well. The in house butcher will cut your meat to your specifications, and the in house seafood department will cut and clean your seafood purchases to order too. There is a small bakery that does custom cakes with as little as one days notice. Prices are excellent, especially for produce, seafood, poultry, rice, tea, and dumplings. The store is fairly small but is well organized and customer service is good.
Good place to get authentic Asian items that you dont find in a regular American supermarket. If you dont mind the BUSY, narrower, tighter aisles its all good. Prices are fair, a bit higher compared to getting it in NYC or Boston. If you take into account that both places are halfway points from Albany and time spent traveling, expenses, tolls, gas to both cities...Id say its not bad at all.
This market offers a wide variety of foods at a decent price. The biggest issue with this place is the cleanliness. It smells foul throughout the entire store. Its understandable that they have a seafood selection but so do many other stores and they dont smell nearly as putrid. Also, the store just seems like its in need of a deep cleaning. The store was freezing cold on my latest visit. I dont think they heat the place or perhaps their system is broken. The staff all had big coats and gloves on.Its common to find expired products here. Always check dates!Staff doesnt speak much English, but also doesnt seem too friendly.Be careful parking. Its usually packed and pretty competitive. These are just observations from my experiences, and I prefer to be completely honest in my reviews. I love the store, but they really should clean things up a bit. I would spend more time in there but the stink cuts my trips short.
We love this place. Has a great selection of foods for several asian cuisines. Their prices are very reasonable. The aisles can be difficult to manage due to the amount of boxes in them. The mens room isnt very clean, but you could wait to go elsewhere. The checkout is efficient.
This place is amazing! Half of one aisle is nothing but ramen noodles. Another aisle is mostly tea. If you are into Asian food and cooking, you will find things here that you wont anyplace else . The produce section and meat department are fascinating for the selection of exotic offerings. Two cautions. First, the Asian sense of personal space applies. This place is really tight and crowded. You wont be strolling down the aisles with your shopping cart and its shoulder to shoulder at the checkout. Second, the smell from the fish department permeates the store and it is RIPE. If youre squeamish or sensitive to smells, you might want to think twice. On the other hand, where else would you find cartons of live frogs and crabs sitting on the floor?
The place stinks but sensory adaptation quickly takes over and youll find yourself immersed in a cluttered Asian market where available items seem limitless. Unique produce, fish and meat products along with (what seems to be) every asian spice, sauce or marinade ever concocted. Pretty sure the area to the right of the registers is some weird Asian pharmacy where Im sure theyd got some ground-up root bark powder or ginseng-ginger potion to cure what ails you.Interesting place, nothing really like it on this scale here in the Albany NY area.
This is a good place for traditional Asian food and hilarious Asian versions of American foods and snacks. Just watch out for the little Chinese ladies, they might elbow you if youre in their way. Despite this, dont go in expecting them to be rude and cold towards you. We should be past these stereotypes by now. Enjoy your visit!
Im giving 4 stars because they regularly have fresh and quality produce at a good price. Would give 5 stars if theyd have acknowledged that I was coming into their establishment and giving them my money, but the cashier didnt even look at me, lol, her eyes were glued to the video playing on her cell. Apparently youtube gets more respect than paying customers.
I think this is the biggest asian market in Albany. You can buy almost everything asian here. They also have fresh fish section which is like an Asian wet market. Everythings fine but the staff from fish section can neither speak nor understand English. They even sell asian toys.
This place has fantastic selection. Most of the products are Chinese, but there are also quite a few from Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and even India. Pretty much all your Asian food needs can be met here. My favorite part of the store is the produce department, which is always stocked with exotic fruit that you cant find elsewhere.
Kind of unorganized, cramped, difficult to navigate, and staffed by some interesting people, yet this place is still one of my favorite places to buy groceries. The selection is really great. Its best if you know what youre looking for but I always discover new snacks. Theres a lot of stuff here I would find next to impossible to find elsewhere. This goes for both dry goods and produce. The prices arent bad either. I find that I can usually fill my basket for a reasonable price and eat well for a week or two.
I love this place!! Theres a great huge variety of things you can get! Bulk items like soy and oyster sauce that you can get for cheap. One of the only places you can get fresh mackerel in the area! Crowded, though, and with very narrow aisles; this isnt a place for those who are claustrophobic.
This place is great when looking for hard to find ingredients! They also have a lot of fresh food including veggies, fruit, meat, and seafood. And if your looking for asian snacks look no more. They have everything from well know snacks like Pocky to unheard of brands. Unlike other Asian food markets Ive been too this one is massive and well stocked. Plus the staff is friendly!
I recommend this grocery store if you are tight in money, willing to try new things, and dont mind a little dirt here and there. Cash only for purchases under $10. Great selection of food stuffs and veggies are definitely cheaper here than the average grocery store. Vegetables are cheap in exchange for slightly poor appearance (if you dont mind). In recent years, its been attracting more than your Asian shopping crowd. It does have an aisle dedicated to Indian spices, and plenty of imported goods. Prices vary depending on what your looking for. The market has its own fish section as well as its own small food court style takeout place. Dont expect cleanliness, haha. It can get a bit messy and chaotic, but once you get used to it, youll be happy to come here. The aisles are labelled by ethnic cuisine and food type. The one gripe I have about this place is the cashiers gloves that get really dirty with handling peoples groceries. Its trivial, but it irks me.
Prices are decent, and there is great selection, but there is not always service to help you find something. It is rare to find a worker who understands enough English to tell you where something is. For that matter, there only seem to be 1-3 workers in the aisles at any point. Also, it is frustrating when the price tags are missing from the shelves in so many places.
Wow. For a glimpse into another world and culture, this is a great place to go to. Fresh produce for your Asian dishes, any bottled ingredients you could want. Prices are reasonable, staff is usually good at helping you find what you need if you cant locate it. Small parking lot, with extra space out back. Accepts credit cards with $10 minimum
Lets tackle things one by one.The variety of fresh fish youd get here is great. From red snappers to pompanos to fishes Ive never heard of, theyve got them all. And you can get them prepared to whatever level you want.Other than that, the fruits and vegetable section is good as well.As is the canned stuff or different types of noodles or spices or whatever else we could think off. The place never seemed like somewhere only Asian people are welcome. It was like a great place for everyone to grab Asian food.
My daughter loves these spicy Ramen Noodles. The only place from Boston to NY we can find them!!! They have so many exotic foods that if you took the time to understand them and how to use them its absolutely awesome. We go here at least once a week. We always find something new. The staff is always helpful and courteous.
Great selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, prepared foods, frozen foods, some appliances and dishware/cutlery. I was looking for frozen pandan leaves and found those and a lot of other things that I wasnt looking for. I feel that it was maybe weakest in Korean food selection, but there were so many other interesting things here that it made up for that. When leaving, there were people waiting to park, so that might be a difficulty at certain times of day. Checkout was pretty fast and efficient, and the person who helped me was very nice. I didnt spend any time in the fresh seafood/meat area, but the small in the store was not as bad as I was expecting based on other reviews. I had a great time here looking at so many different things, and I will definitely go back and spend some more time with a more prepared grocery list now that my first scouting trip is done.
This place is packed with people and they are amazing! So much stuff in so little place ! Any kind of groceries from allover the world ,i even found persimmon from Spain . Fresh meat fish & vegetable ! They are little tight on the parking , but you can find more on the rear if yo dont mind walking a little .
Great prices for super fresh produce, including those you can’t buy in regular grocery stores. Fresh seafood and butcher, too, for every part of the pig, chicken, duck you’d like to eat! Great variety of sauces and condiments from south Asian, to southeast Asian, to East Asian. And they have an entire wall of freezers for dumplings!
I supper love it. There was a time I was not in a good mood my boyfriend knew my weaknesses He brought me here. And me as a Filipino I really love to cook but its hard to find Filipino products in the place that I first live. So when my boyfriend brought me here I was soo happy they have almost everything I need.
Awesome selection of items from many countries and cuisines, plus prepared foods and fill service butcher. Awesome selection of foods youd never find in a standard supermarket. Reasonable prices on almost everything. Only complaint is cramped aisles - when busy, can be hard to navigate.
Asian supermarket has a large selection of meat/vegetables/and ingredients. They also carry a variety of meats and cuts you wont find in a standard supermarket. Working on an Asian marinated rabbit recipe and they had everything I needed. Was really cool to see the variety.
Amazing spot for those speciality items hard to find. They have great spices. Amazing variety of fresh vegetables and fruits. Many, too many to list Asian specialities. A little bit of China come to Albany NY. They didnt get top rating because their packaged fresh fish is not always fresh.
Large selection of Filipina food and ok prices. Parking is attrocious and store cleanliness is pretty bad. The employees leave knives around in reach of small children as well. My son knocked over a box with a knife in it. Very lax on food and workplace safety standards.
I moved up here from Suffolk County Long Island 2 years ago. In that time I would go back just to stock up on certain foods, seafoods and condiments that I thought I would not be able to find up here or at a decent price. (I love to cook many different foods from scratch. American, Asian, Italian, Caribbean Islands, Indian, Spanish etc. ) Till one day my daughter last week found your store. My family lives one hour away NW in a village from the store and decided to make the trip. After a month and 1/2 of not leaving the house we decided to put all our safety gear on due to the COVID -19 (masks & gloves) and started our paranoia Journey to your location. When my daughters and I got there there was a line to enter the store. I was pleased to see that the store was implementing a 6 feet distance rule. My girls and I were very patient and waited online for no more than 20 minutes while they were only allowing 10 people in the store at a time. One way in and another way out. Even though my girls and I had all our personal COVID 19 protection gear on, When we reach our turn to enter we realize that they were supplying free gloves. (if you was online & you did not have a mask on they would asked to leave & was not able to enter the store) My family was very pleased to see this also. Once we enter the store our great experience proceeded. During our two hours of exploring every aisle diligently, the people there were very helpful in assisting me on my shopping list and was able to get everything on the list including my certain Jamaican jerk seasoning sauce and my daughters Japanese sweets. Everyone spoke English and was more than willing to assist my girls and myself. Now it was coming to an end to check out. Once again the COVID-19 6 feet distance was also applied at the register. They took my shopping cart themselves & proceeded to unload cart, scan & bag my items as I waited to Apple Pay and exit the store. My girls and I got into my truck when my daughters said to me “mom you did great for a paranoia mom lol“. We agreed that we haven’t had that type of shopping experiences since Long Island. I was very pleased and relaxed even during this serious deadly pandemic time. We now have a new store upstate New York that I could shop at.Thank you for the wonderful safe experience. We will return in the future.Thank youBe safeKeep up the good work in protecting the people and the store from the COVID- 19.
For preparing Asian cuisine, this is the place to find everything you need including fresh meat, seafood, produce and extensive frozen food. Their tea, condiment, and candy isles are extensive. Cooked duck, pork and bakery items and a prepared food line if you prefer eating to cooking...but believe them when they say something is spicy or hot! English speaking clerks.
Great selection. Great place to get fish, especially something apart from salmon or Tialapia. I like buying some produce that is either cheaper or again, different. Oh, very reasonable prices on spices, flours, nuts, and teas (I like Jasmin, lavendar and rosehip dried blossoms)
Good place for Asian foods that you cant get in a regular American food store. The isles are very narrow and frequently clogged with boxes waiting to be unloaded. People there are not friendly nor unfriendly. Parking at times is a challenge, and a competition. Also it takes a quarter to use a shopping cart. Tonight I did not have any change, so we really loaded up a hand basket.
As usual, little English spoken. One of the cashiers was outright talking to her neighbor while cashing me out. I had to tap her to ask for change. She gave it, and went right back talking . Typical customer service. The market does have all the hard-to-find ingredients youre looking for.
Very overwhelming at first since almost nothing is in English, but when i asked for help they kindly pointed to where i would find what i was looking for. You need to realize that you will probably be the only non Asian person in there after you get over that and the fact that no one speaks English you will have a nice experience. They have a great selection and some good prices (lower than what i priced out online). Also kind of smells like dead fish but thats probably because the seafood section takes up half the store :)
I love Asian culture and its food, and try hard to learn what I can. So excited when this first opened because it was so large and clean and had such a great variety of foodstuffs. It has deteriorated in quality across the boards lately. Overstuffed shelves (often with expired merchandise - careful!) and an exploding produce section that is nearly impossible to navigate your cart around. This, after parking lot challenges.. . not much room there, either. I have been treated rudely several times - and now that I have a study abroad daughter from China, I have a handy interpreter to tell me how the staff feels about me as a rich white woman. Interesting, to say the least. I cant comment on the fresh fish, as I have yet to learn how to buy fish that way. But I find the cashiers very friendly. Today I had to cut my shopping short as the store was SO COLD it felt too uncomfortable to shop. Later, I was told that the cashiers were all chatting about how their boss never turns the heat up, and they freeze in there. Hello, OSHA? Rudeness starts at the top, after all...so I dont blame the staff...
I stopped by there a few times to get a quick meal from the attached cafe when passing by Albany. It is only about 3 minutes from Rt. 90. A box meal with 3 entrees costs less than $6. There are about a dozen dishes to select. The staff are friendly, and the service is quick.
Half loosely organized chaos, half super interesting adventure. I have no doubt that this place has every single Asian grocery item you could ever imagine and then about 3 aisles more of things you’ve never heard of but want to know more about. If you need it, they have it... but they probably won’t be able to help you find it if you’re an English only speaker. This isn’t a “run in and get what you need” store. The aisles are jammed full floor to ceiling, and hard to navigate. The overwhelming fish smell (seriously seriously strong- I don’t bring my daughter anymore because she covers her nose for the entire trip, and while I worry that it’s rude, I totally get it) usually moves me along pretty quickly, but I tend leave wishing I had spent more time exploring.
Make sure to check experation dates on all products. Many are expired. I dont know why they havent been in trouble yet and the place is very dirty. Parking is small but you all can park on mcnutt in the little parking lot there. I live on that street. The food court sucks and very difficult to get exactly what I want. I point to the one that says roast pork and rice, she even repeated it. When I get home all I have is a container of pork. Very upsetting. As a white American why must Chinese employees and Chinese customers be so rude. They arent scared to push you out the way or give you rude looks. Its like we are an inconvenience to them. The place is very overcrowded with boxes all over the place, very awful fish smell in the entire place. I love fish but I wouldnt dare getting it from there. Their live fish tanks are extremely dirty and can tell they have never been cleaned. Leaving one day I was almost ran over by a forklift. That shouldnt be coming in the front while open. But I have no choice shopping there because its so close to me.
Inexpensive, huge variety of Asian goods, least expensive vegetables of any where around and if you are not Asian so many items that you never heard of before or even know what they are without researching! Live frogs, fish, uniquely Asian butchery, plus a mini food court that sells the best roast duck and pork to use however you want and fair prices to boot.
I love this store. Fresh fish, fresh fruit and veggies. Lots of snacks and candies you cant get at American super markets. If you drink tea this is the store for you. They have so many teas its mind blowing! I have problems with my hips and I get a pack of joint heath liquid here and its really the ONLY thing that takes my pain away. They have huge bags of rice and ricecookers. Plates dishes miso spoons, chopsticks, teapots and so much more.
A very diverse collection of various Foods from the various Asian cultures. I have found virtually anything I am looking for when trying to make Asian Cuisine. The store tends to have a less than fresh smell that hits you in the face when you first walk in the door, I tend to steer away from the produce and the meats due to this. However the diverse collection of other Foods makes this place a frequent stop for my Asian cooking needs. Theres very little service on the floor however the checkout is usually fast. It is almost always crowded and parking, though off-street, is still extremely limited and extremely challenging.
Well I used to go to Lees market. once this place opened it was Great very Clean & a lot of stuff to choose from. all kinds of Rice & Tea. vegtables, Chinese snacksand a Great supply of Japanese candy. I speak some Chinese so I always practice it & Test them, very helpful staff IF you ask the right person. I have a lot of pics & I will upload some soon. why bother buying soy sauce in a regular store? if you havent been here its worth checking out.
Would give it five stars if it were easier to find what Im looking for. Some of packaging doesnt have an English translation on the package. Most of the staff speak little or no English which isnt their fault but makes getting assistance in the store difficult. A great place to get unique produce and Asian treats.
Honestly an absolutely terrible place. The people are terrible with service and I went to buy a full duck. I got home and there was NO MEAT what so ever. It was obvious they stripped it all away and scammed me with it. Seriously don’t go here. I went with my grandpa and they specially saw that he was old and unable to see well which is why they were able to scam us. Don’t even bother here, go to the asian supermarket down the street. You’ll have better luck there. I could give this place 0 stars if I could.
The Asian supermarket is so fun even though I dont know what have the stuff is for or how to use it; and I wish I did. We went to the food court and I got some spare ribs and I got a little aluminum plate and they put the food I picked in it and I got some spring rolls and a deep-fried something. And then we got Mochi and I got some Chopsticks. My friend got 2 cans of soursop drink. The store is so awesome - you can find anything. They have an amazing fish market with all these fish I wish I could cook. They had frogs. They didnt have any geoduck today. But I did see live geoduck a few years ago there. They are the most amazing in prolific fruit and vegetable section. And if you want candy and cookies they have everything imaginable. They also take credit cards and they have parking. And the staff was friendly.
Im not sure what people are complaining about. Youre going to have slightly less quality in ethnic food stores. Mainly because they dont care about how perfect every vegetable is or how the lighting is in their store. Deal with it. Compared to the other Asian markets in the area, this supermarket has a huge selection of sauces, spices, produce, meat, baked goods, and seafood. Their shelves were huge and there was a variety of Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Filipino ingredients. You just have to look carefully!Parking is a pain here so be cautious of that!
Asian supermarket has all of your favorite Asian snacks, as well as a wide variety of ramen noodles, sauces, dumplings, fruits and vegetables, meats, and pharmacy needs. employees are very conscious of COViD needs and provide free gloves for those entering the store and contactless transactions
Great selection! I can only really speak to the selection of Japanese products, but this store has almost everything that I want. The downside is that the store is smelly, feels dirty, and the employees can be rude and/or slow. This is the best place to go in the area for Asian items, though.
Lots of variety of fresh and packaged goods. It can get crowded and YOULL need patience this isnt liked your laid back Hannafords. The people can be pushy and staff can be curt, but i suppose thats because its like Thanksgiving shopping every day for them. For those who complain about the smell, it smells just like a seafood shop-because theres a lot of fish. Again...not like your Hannaford.Staff also tend to the produce during the day stocking and removing bruised fruits or wilted leaves off of leafy vegs to maintain that fresh look. So be aware of carts of with what looks like compost scraps and to be stocked items. They are working.Again, you gotta be patient.
AWESOME - PRICE, SELECTION, AND STORE. AND - everything is clearly labeled in English - something hard to experience in any ethnic store. And you can find anything, even if your ethnicity is Italian, Spanish, German, Polish, etc., - tripe, cows tongue, cuttlefish, awesome selection. Produce, product and seafood you cant find elsewhere. Clean and well organized. AWESOME.
Its usually crowded, surly, and smells a bit. Beyond that, its full of every oddball food item you need and a whole bunch you dont--but cant live without. Theres an entire aisle dedicated to snacks and entire wall of just noodles. Indian spices and microwave curry? Got that too. Hidden in the back is a housewares section with cheap China and good stainless chopsticks. Shopping Secret: The meat and veggies are generally way better than your local market. Need shellfish for paella? Fresh and often caught closer to home than the frozen junk in the freezer case.
Its a super dingy dirty feeling store from the outside.I went there late in the evening and while there wasnt a wait to be helped there also wasnt much of a need to be helped. The produce looked very not fresh. The aisles while well stocked are very overwhelming with how much product there was.I am planning on going back during the day, and I hope to change my mind.
Below average quality of a supermarket should have. They do sell Chinese food which is good, but only in general sense. Often I see non-fresh produce. Things they sell and the environment is dirty. And the whole place is crowded, not by people but by excessive items. Other Chinese supermarket owners can do way better than this.
My wife went back to claim a bag of meat products a few seconds after she found out that she left it by the cashier. Manager wont refund our items worth $18 and was blamed for leaving it behind. Clearly there was CCTV that the next customer who only got a basketful deliberately stole/got our items. We will never go back to this place.
Not probably all but most items they sell are fake! Bought headless milkfish and fish did not cook right. It was bubbling like a balloon. Usually it turns brownish when cooked, this one stayed whitish/grayish just like how it was before it was cooked. The salted duck eggs are also fake! Someone forgot to put egg whites in one of 6 when they cosmetized it. The shell was like rubbery/silicon type. Tried boiling the others to see if anything changes. The yolk stayed soft. Never hardened. Wow China! Really?
I wish they had one closer up here. They have EVERYTHING you need to make your favorite Asian quisine.Inloke that they had the aisles separated by country, do no having to hunt for the perfect spice or side dishOh, and the fruit is HUGE!!! Mangos the size of your head!I knew you not
A lifetime experience, unlike anything in the world. Absolutely unique place to shop at. Cashier staff was super rude, threw our groceries without any hesitation nor consideration that we bought chips. The fact that she charged my youngest daughter an extra 10 cents for her favorite noodles more may not seem like a big deal, but the cashier deliberately made it a scene. My sensible daughter was curioused as to why the cashier charged us an extra 10 cents more. She kindly questioned the cashier about the situation at hand. The cashier was not only rude to my daughter, she even exclaimed What! Its only 10 cents, while rolling her eyes at us. I wasnt bothered by the fact that she charged us extra, it was the fact that she not only did not apologized for her mistake, she even twisted the situation to made it as though it was our fault.
There are lots of selections of ethnic food. Sanitation is lot to be desired. Repugnant smell of rotten fish and fruits dominate the entire sore. Even employees are wearing mask, gloves and biohazard aprons. my boyfriend got scared and out and looking for a bioshower.
We prefer this place... In that market many Asian and local fresh fruit and vagetable available in reasonable price... And also many fresh fish are available...who love fish they should visit .... And also so many things like Asian herbs, sauces, spices, tofu, Lobster, and so many sea foods.
All of Asia in every aisle, from India east to China, Korea, Thai, Japan, ... Frogs in a barrel and a wealth of tea & rice. Roast duck & pork. Even a section of ginseng & herbal medicine. Fresh fish, a meat counter with tripe & pigs feet. In back an area of utensils--ladles, knives, dishes, etc. Catch a bus to Manhattan? Its all there.
All of Asia in an aisle-by-aisle selection of goods supermarket. Frogs in a barrel, live fish in tanks, rice from all over. Baked Chinese pastry, char siu hanging on a hook. Find every Asian ingredient you desire, but dont ask where because clerks (mostly) only speak dialects of Chinese. Korean, Japanese, Vietnam, China, India, ... the ingredients are here.
The selection is the best in the area, including Japanese and Thai as well as Chinese food. Drawbacks include general messiness, an unsavory odor coming from the fish section, and employees not trained in American politeness customs. But unless you want to make a trip to New Jersey, its the best option in Albany.
Terribly rude staff. I asked a produce stocker if he knew if the store carried kaffir lime leaves. He rudely said Im busy, ask that person over there. I went over to the other person, who was speaking with another person and I politely waited to not interrupt. I stood next to them for about 2 minutes and she never helped me. So I went to buy something else. I waited at the meat counter for 2 minutes saying excuse me, but the workers ignored me. They even looked at me and kept playing on their cell phones. Eventually I got my meat, which was spoiled, btw. I went back to the other produce worker and asked if the store carried kaffir lime leaves. She said If you no find, then no ask just waste me time. Offended, I said There are a lot of leaves here, but I am not sure what the ones I am looking for look like, and none of them are labeled. Then she said, Oh yeah, we have those over here, follow me. I followed her and she walked into the employee restroom. Well that is pleasant. I am sorry for assuming produce workers could help me find something in the produce department. Speaking of which, much of the produce is rotten. The fish department never cleans their fish tanks, so you can barely see the live fish in the tanks. Also, there were dead floating fish in the same tanks. When I went to the cashier, he was using one hand to look at his phone, and another to do his job (use both hands and put your phone away!). He also did not acknowledge me at all, and said no words. He did not even tell me the price. How am I supposed to pay cash if I dont know the price? As I left the store, I walked through the smoke cloud of two workers smoking next to the door. Will never go here again.

2022-03-17Center for Asian and other nationality grocery shopping. Very exotic ingredients and equipment is sold here. My favorite thing is the selection of instant noodle dishes and dried noodles, almost a full two isles of it. Most staff understand English enough to help English speaking customers, and the check out lines are not usually that long.

2022-07-12All the Asian groceries my family needs are here. The only thing why Im only putting a 1 star is for the consistent issue that when I do grocery here and have a cart full and lost count of my grocery and by the time I get home there is always this extra scanned items. Sometimes up to a cost 20bucks that is scanned multiple times. If your grocery is just 5 to 10 items easy to count... they are accurate. But in my case I come here once every 2 to 3 weeks so I have to buy a lot.

2022-06-11An intensely incredible and immense mixture of supplies and sustenance are available here. I find myself drawn to this establishment at lease once a week! If only there were less confusion on where to wait while checking out I’d give them 5 stars.

2022-05-20Loads and loads of stuff that you cannot find in a typical American supermarket. The produce is varied if not always of the utmost quality. Tons of fresh fish and seafood, insane variety of noodles, snacks and sauces/pastes etc from all over Asia. Do not expect to come in here and be able to find what you need, unless you know exactly what youre looking for, or you can read Chinese, Thai, etc. Also, you can get a gallon of awesome kimchi for under $20.

2022-01-26Best selection of Asian foods in the area Ive found. Cheap prices, wide selection of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and more foods. The snack aisle is my personal favorite. Aisles are tight, and bring a quarter if you want to use a shopping cart, but all in all a great store.

2022-06-27You really need to know your ingredients to shop here. No one really speaks english so you cant get help with anything! I buy all of my pork belly and duck here! its fresh and they cut it for you. Its a huge store everything you could need but the prices are higher than my market on colvin avenue.

2021-07-05Had everything I was looking for expect the melon bread was sold out 😅 great selection, definitely making the drive to come back here. Larger on the inside than it looks on the outside.

2022-02-27The staff are not the friendliest and seem like you’re a bother if you ask them for help locating something, even when a picture of the item is shown to them, and if they decide to help they are extremely rude! You are on your own, go prepared know what you want and a replacement just in case! Good luck. Love the wide variety of items though.
