Reserved a table for dinner prior to a concert, staff was polite and friendly. Server Jake was attentive and efficient. I had a beet & goat cheese salad, with the pecan crusted salmon; my spouse had a caesar salad and the duck breast. We both enjoyed our meals, and then relaxed with the fair trade Ethiopian coffee. Wonderful start to our evening!
Great service great staff. Interesting menu With hard to decide choices. The duck breast was cut a bit thick for my taste but has great flavor. Same goes for the tuna, it should be sliced thinner... But once again its delicious. Very nice atmosphere great date night place
Food was fabulous, staff were friendly and the server was knowledgeable. Reservations appear to be the best option to visit. If you prefer to be able to have an easy, conversation without the need to speak upto be heard ask to be seared in the gallery. They were willing to make substitutions based on preferences.I would recommend again.
Prices are completely outrageous for what it is. Strange choices of seasoning for steak and a horrible cut, filled with grizzle and couldnt eat just under half of it for $58. They didnt even offer to package our leftovers just took them away. AND THEN... they seated complete strangers next to us, talk about awkward.
Bacchus does not disappoint. My wife ordered the pecan encrusted salmon, with diced sweet potatoes. I enjoyed tasting her food, the sauce was sweet but not overly sweet. A very good combination of flavor and textures. My filet mignon was well prepared and it was amazing. The sauce that was matched with the dish, was perfect. Bacchus is a beautiful, consistent, enjoyable place to eat dinner. The bar area is also nice to try, if you just want to have a few cocktails.
We absolutely LOVED our meal at Bacchus. My boyfriend and I created a restaurant bucket list back when COVID first hit in March of 2020; to do this we used a combination of TripAdvisor and Yelp to compile a top ten for both CHQ and Erie County restaurants. At the near top of Erie Co.s was Bacchus sitting at a seeded #2. What we had for dinner...Id put it at the #1 slot for any restaurant Ive ever eaten at. The ambiance was a perfect 10/10. Gorgeous, moody interior with just the right amount of light. Our waitress, Susan, was delightful. She was attentive but not overbearing, explained the meals and mirrored our excitement. We came expecting to order a couple glasses of wine and a couple small plates and that was it; while highly rated, Bacchus is a lil outside our usual dining budget. Seeing the menu...we knew we had to order more. We chose a half bottle of Chianti (so nice to have a half bottle option!), the BLT Wedge and Steak & Eggs appetizers, and the crispy Long Island duck as our entree to share. I dont know how to explain the level of flavor explosion that we experienced. It was other-worldly. Next level. Also--the complimentary bread and oil/vinegar/spices was PURE MAGIC. Presentation for everything was on point. We left already planning our next meal there. If I could give Bacchus a million more stars, I would. It has been the best on our list by far. BEST. DINING. EXPERIENCE. EVER. Keep it up, Bacchus!
Low-lighting, great ambience, and large wine glasses make for a great dining experience. Everything on the menu is delicious, scallops, rock shrimp and calamari, and their salads all make for great appetizers. The entrees are all delicious, particularly the pork chops!
The food was outstanding, as usual. I loved the scallops and my husband thoughrouly enjoyed the ahi tuna. Our salad were very delicious as well. The service was extremely slow however. It was obvious that the kitchen was backed up because about 20 minutes after we sat down, a tour bus dropped off about 40 sabres and they were seated in the side banquet room. They were all served and left well before we finished our dinner! It was very frustrating. Our three courses took about 3 hours, much too long for a meal.
The service was excellent and the drinks were exceptional. They have what can only be described as an amazing catalogue of wines. That said when it came time for food, I found that the servings were underwhelming and the portions small. For many entrees coming in at $30+ dollars per plate I wasnt wowed. The quality was good but between that and the portion sizes I left wanting something more.
So upon arrival the ambiance is stellar. Its spacious, not to loud, perfect setting for a romantic dinner. They have a large party room in back, along with private dining areas. After being seated we were greeted by our waiter Derek. He was wonderful, hands down one of the best in the biz, he added his own insights into the different dinner choices and just seemed all around knowledgeable of the menus. We had rib eye steak with fingerling potatoes and sweet corn ravioli. The rib eye melted in your mouth, the ravioli was spot on. Both dishes were prepared to perfection. I would and will recommend this restaurant to any one looking for a nice formal dining experience, and if Derek is your waiter your in for an amazing added experience.
I waited to write my review until I went back. My first experience was great!! I sat at the bar with my partner and the bartender was awesome, even gave recommendations for other places to try. The food was great, if you love salmon definitely give it a try! The calamari is one of favorites right now. My partner said the tuna tartare and everything we ordered was great and he’s pretty picky since he’s a chef himself. On my second trip I went with family and we ordered as many things as we could and shared and everything was great!!! I love fish so I’m recommending the swordfish as well, it was flavored and cooked to perfection. The service was great!! I’m big on service because I use to serve and definitely 5* on the service. Everything was great I would just say it is very slightly over priced but I would go again and again.
Bachus has been my favorite restaurant for sometime. We usually come here several times a year for birthdays or special occasions. The food is fantastic, but the service is so slow. Every time we come, our dinner takes way too long. The last few times we came, it was HOURS before we got our check. And this was not by choice. I think its starting to get a bit ridiculous, and I dont even want to come anymore. It is a shame since the food is so good, but its really not worth it anymore. Also, the server we had last week was pretty rude. Surprising for such an upscale restaurant.
Excellent dining experience. Staff was tentative and helpful. I ordered the Boilluabaisse during my visit and it was absolutely delicious. For desert I drank a scotch that I. Kicking myself for not getting the name of. The wine list is incredible asw well. If you are looking for a fine dining experience in the heart of Buffalo, go here!
6:30 reservation. Finally got our dinner at 9:10.Dinner was delicious but the small plate special was $38 !!!!! That should have been disclosed as most of the small plate prices were $9 to &12.Wait staff was excellent and it was very evident that they were short staffed. They did the best they could and we tried to be patient. But many tables came and went before the four of us were served our dinner. Clearly a problem in the kitchen. They did offer us dessert and a free after dinner drink for the wait.
Bacchus Wine Bar & Restaurant in Downtown Buffalo NY is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is just delicious, the service has always been great, they have lots of good wines. Two of us usually share 2 or 3 small plates plus the soup of the day and I love their Caesar salad made with hearts of romaine with warm potato croutons. Bacchus is awesome - a hidden gem.
They were pretty good, but not amazing. Service wasn’t up to the level that you would expect at this price range. We had to pour our own water (I know this sounds snarky but at a restaurant that’s $50+/person this is the type of stuff that should distinguish it from lower cost places), and when I ordered my duck cooked medium my server gave me a snarky look and questioned my decision. I proceeded to order it medium rare as suggested, and in the end it came out medium-well. Oh well, it still tasted good and I’m not the type to send things back.Cocktail was also good, but not great. All in all I probably would come back, but it’s not as good as many of the reviews here claim it to be (at least in my experience).
This was my first time dining here and had always heard good things about it. The food was delicious. Our only complaint was the service. It started out really well but then it seemed that our server forgot about us which should have been hard to do considering we were a table of 6. We had to ask for a second drink and then waited forever for our entrees. Then after our plates were cleared, it was like our server disappeared. We sat there forever in an empty dining room waiting for our check. We finally asked a busboy and he went and got her. We got there at 7:00 and were there until almost 10:00 which was way too long to sit. I would expect more attentive service at a place like that.
Wanted to take my girl out for a nice night. Noticed the majority of rave reviews and figured, why not? I had reservations for 7:30 and we showed up slightly early. We waited about 5 minutes until someone finally greeted us. They sat us at table set for 4 and felt slightly awkward about it. Ambiance is okay. Nothing special. Cocktails on the stronger classic side. No complaints there. Food was very good. We got the gnocchi Mac and cheese and tuna tartar. The tuna tartar was pretty classic. Solid flavors. Nothing setting it apart. Mac and cheese was fantastic, although the prosciutto on top was a lot and a bit hard to eat. For entrees we got the zucchini pasta and Boulabaise. Both solid in flavor, but her noodles were a little hard to eat, and hardly noodle like. All in all, pleasant experience. Its a good meal, but Im a little confused by the unanimously outstanding reviews. I would come back though, but not before exploring more option.
Is absolutely amazing Experience from start to finish. From the vqlet parking rate outfront, to the speed of service to be seated, to the unbelievable customer service with our server and to the absolutely spectacular meals. This was one of the best meals out I have ever had.
Bacchus is the best restaurant in Buffalo. I am always impressed with the high quality of the menu and service. Ive never been disappointed, and am usually blown away by how good the meal is. The decor does seem stuck in the late 90s/early 2000s, but thats the only (minor) critique Id have. Keep up the great work!
My fiance and I came here for our ten year anniversary. Every part of our experience was great. The service, the food, the ambiance. When our server found out we were celebrating ten years she brought us complimentary champagne. My fish was cooked perfectly, as was my fiances (huge) steak.
My husband and I visited Bacchus as a part of our tenth wedding anniversary celebration. We sat in the courtyard and it was beautiful. Our waiter, Kevin, was the absolute best and added so much to our experience! Thank you Kevin and Bacchus for an amazing evening! We will be back!
It was an amazing visit. I took my girlfriend there for her birthday, and they graciously comped out dessert. The patio is simple, yet exquisite, and super comfortable. This restaurant has never failed to satisfy my expectations, if anything it always exceeds them. Our waiter Kevin was super attentive and super nice. He took every question, concern, and compliment like pro. 10/10 would recommend ALWAYS
Visited Niagara/Buffalo for the first time and came to this restaurant two nights in a row because it was AMAZING. Justin, our server, was phenomenal. Definitely ask for him. Highly recommend the truffle gnocchi app and tuna entree but their menu does change seasonally. Espresso martini and creme brûlée for dessert! 11/10 - if you’re in the area, go to Bacchus!
Great venue for a special occasion. We had a mix of seafood and steak since we couldn’t make up our minds. Both were prepared perfectly and you can’t go wrong with either choice. Wine selection was of course extensive and what you would expect at a fine dining restaurant. highly recommend
Amazing! Simply amazing! From the ambience of dinner in the courtyard to the service was top notch and worth every penny. I totally recommend - food and menu is fresh and created by the chef. And Justin, the waiter was very informative and made us feel right at home which helped us make our selections. If you decide to go and you meet Justin, tell him Brandon and Carol from New Jersey sent you!
Despite Covid, this was an excellent meal. The corn ravioli and halibut were especially tasty. Excellent wines by the glass. Tables were well spaced. We had a mix of seafood and steak since we couldn’t make up our minds. Both were prepared perfectly and you can’t go wrong with either choice. recommned
It was my first time to this place and I doubt Ill return. I understand most everyone has a good experience but I did not. From walking in and being ignored on a almost completely empty night. To seeing the sous chef at the bar or with his friends at the back table while our food was being prepared. It reflected in the food I ordered the salmon which was moist and tasty the wine we ordered wasnt my idea of great I ordered the bottle but only had a glass and a half. The rock shrimp was as. Expected but the calamari was rubbery. HOWEVER THE SHINING LIGHT IS THE WAIT STAFF! Extremely attentive and I loved it. There was a woman cooking in the back while the chef was busy drinking and chit chatting I thanked her because from what I could see although not the best meal this young lady mostly if not solely prepared it herself. I spent the rest of the evening across the street eating chicken wings to fill the 100 dollar void left by Bacchus.
First time here and would 100% recommend. Definitely a bit more upscale than my usual lets go out for dinner day, but saw a show at Sheas around the corner and figured a nice dinner would round out the night. Expect to spend at least $70-80 for a couple, depending what you order but the food was very much worth it. Service was fairly quick and prompt for anything you needed throughout your meal. The menu is online if you want to look first and can book a reservation there too, super convenient. Check it out for a classy dinner in Downtown Buffalo!
Never a bad dish!! Lovely valentines day spot and always enjoy trying new dishes as none of them ever fail to disappoint!! The Steak (Carpoccio) and Eggs are absolutely amazing. The caesar salad has amazing potato croutons. The cracker and cheese tray is quite the treat as well!! Got the filet mignon with parm gnocchi and wild mushrooms that really set off well with their demi glace. The food never takes too long and the service is always amazing. Favorite restaurant in Buffalo by far!!
Wonderful dinner! We shared the cassoulet and gnocchi appetizers and had the seared tuna and chicken entrees. It was all amazing - I am still salivating over the tuna. Even the oil shared for the bread was unique and special. We stuck to cocktails - even though it’s a wine bar - and the cocktails were stellar. We would love to come back if we’re back in Buffalo.

This a favorite I’d not patronized in awhile. It’s as good as I remembered. Our early evening reservation found a wait staff friendly and ready. Our party 5 order a variety of appetizers that pleased everyone. The same holds for our entrees. One of they city’s finest wine list does not fail to yield outstanding bottles. I always recommend this choice for a fine dining experience that hits all of the marks. That, like the service and the kitchen maintains high regards from us.
Cocktails first were really great and the bartender so attentive and friendly. Dinner was amazing. 2 of us had the salmon that was the best I have had. Another had the fish special that was so delicious. We had really great service and I would recommend Bacchus to everyone .
A major favorite of ours. Went here for my boyfriends birthday and they treated him a little extra special because of it. Weve also gone back to the bar specifically for the truffle mac & cheese (HIGHLY recommend) and the extensive wine list. The bartender was very helpful and attentive, he knew his wines and was able to pair them well based on what we like.
The food here is excellent, the patio seating is nice and most of the waitstaff are friendly and professional. I really enjoyed everything about the experience...except...we went to the trouble of booking online a week in advance and intentionally selecting the option of outdoor patio dining (COVID, y’know). Yet when we arrived the hostess told us an outdoor table was unavailable and was so rude about it! Hence I couldn’t rate it 5 stars.
Consistant quality service and menu. Won;t be disappointed! Wine list is very well selected. The salads were of good variety and quality. Pasta dishes were well prepared and seasoned perfectly .Beef was of excellent quality and preparation. We did not have a seafood entree ,but as I perused the other tables we will definitely choose one next visit .Our poultry dish was done perfectly and very weel seasoned .All side portions were well prepared .Our group was not a big desert group but, again ,looking around they looked great .
The service was friendly and helpful. We were asked if we had a show or other event to attend (for timing), and when we said, no, our meal was relaxed, with perfect pacing between courses for conversation. Our waitress was an expert at being there when we wanted her... and gone when we didnt. Water glasses were promptly (yet unobtrusively) refilled (which to me, matters).

2022-03-06How wonderful to visit Bacchus in a post-pandemic world. A long time favorite enhanced even further by the “new” dining room - the bar side is terrific, and wonderful for groups, albeit a bit loud. The other dining room is intimate with exquisite woodworking. Felt like we were in a New York City!Great service and well-managed pace of the courses. The Gorgonzola encrusted ribeye was a home-run.Bravo! Hope to be back soon.

2022-04-19Went for a birthday dinner with my partner and the ambience was more casual than I expected to be. Possibly because looking out on Chippewa you see all kinds of commotion happening. We both ordered the New York strip steak with mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts ($48) and enjoyed it.For an appetizer, we got the rock shrimp and calamari ($13) which was served in a really delicious glaze. There were small things that somewhat deflated the other wise great dining experience, including not having enough steak knives for both of us at the start of our meals (ever try using a butter knife to cut a steak, lol) and being served the wrong steaks (they swapped our medium and medium well steaks, so my partner just thought they messed up out right and ate about a 1/3 before vocalizing something). The dessert though was divine and since it was her birthday they comped for a dessert and she chose the Jameson tiramisu, which really was amazing. They offer complementary valet service as well which we definitely took advantage of.i’d recommend checking out this place for a nice meal and strongly encourage reservations.

2022-06-27Among the best, if not the best, dining experience post COVID. Christa is an amazing server. Knew the menu, wine, and liquor inside out. If we lived. Buffalo, this would be our go to place.

2021-10-10My first visit to this establishment . My wife and I eat at the bar. We were surprised at the relatively emptiness of this restaurant on a Friday night at 6pm.I had the beet salad as an appetizer and salmon for my entree. My wife had the BLT salad. Each dish was delightful and bar staff were extremely pleasant and attentive.

2022-02-20We walked in, after striking out at another restaurant, and they were able to seat us right away. We had the gnocchi mac and cheese, which was delicious! I had the short rib and my husband had the lamb. Both were a good size (I couldnt finish mine) and they were great. The wine was lovely and the staff was friendly. Definitely recommend it.

2021-06-19Another wonderful dinner at Bacchus! We sat out on the patio which was very nice, especially with the fire place. Our waiter was so kind and made sure we were all set and had everything we needed. We got the shrimp and calamari again for an appetizer which was delicious. We also got the caesar salad, beet salad, duck, chicken, gnocchi Mac and cheese, salmon, and creme brûlée for dessert which was all amazing.

2022-06-10I chose this restaurant because of the unique architecture. However, the atmosphere and food doesnt disappoint. The pecan crusted Salmon and the Thai Bouillabaisse was amazing! It was the best meal we had in Buffalo. Ask for the spicy 🔥 Bouillabaisse it was perfect! Free valet parking makes it even better. A Vernon must see!

2022-05-15My husband and I went here for dinner at 7pm on friday night. I had the Siesta (tequila, grapefruit, etc) We had the crab BLT appetizer. I ordered the pork loin special with cherry compote, which was perfectly cooked and delicious. My husband had pan seared Walleye with roasted cauliflower and garlic mash, which he loved. I feel like the wait between courses could have shorter, the appetizer and dinner and than also the wait between ordering dessert and actually getting it, was a bit much. But the food was worth the wait.

2022-02-13Server was very nice but possibly over sat. She seemed like she was in the weeds for the entire first half of our time there. Both the steak and the fish came out slightly over cooked. The artichoke appetizer was delicious.Atmosphere was pleasant.

2022-01-22My wife and I have had several great experiences at Bacchus. This visit was sub-par at best. Several items on the regular menu and specials menu were out. Our reservation was for 8 pm Friday. How are you out of several of the dinner specials at 8 pm on Friday? The food was not very well seasoned. My short ribs lacked any kind of seasoning. Im hoping our next visit will see much improvement.
