Beacon in other cities:
The beacon station is in bad shape. The entry that leads upstairs to the train constantly has puddles of water that smells like urine. The paint is chipping all over the place. It looks like asbestos. It smells horrible. Now while it is not a place to hang out and have conversations its still a place people need wait for their trains. So while people are waiting for the train they are breathing in mold and mildew. Whoever is in charge needs to do better, after all the price to take the train is not cheap. #beaconstationinneedofrepair
Really disappointed/disgusted. Took my teen and her friend to station, planning a day in the city, specifically to MOMA. There are construction vehicles blocking one street entrance, and, they are parked along the side with the only available metered spots. I usually travel on weekends, but the kids are out of school & I wanted them to have a nice day out before going back. I realize that people who work in the city have to leave early - and parking permit spots can take months on a waiting list. But - this is the 21st Century. Beacon train station has changed its façade over the years, but underneath, where one must pass through to get to a platform, its still disgusting. By now, they should have built a VERTICAL PARKING LOT. They have the money. Also, how about posting a warning about construction on the Metro website? In order to make this trip work, I would have to bring these kids out to the station by 6 am, just to find a spot to put our car. Dutchess County is so backwards.
This is the worst station in the area. For a station of this size, the absence of a public restroom is shameful. This had resulted into the station tunnel becoming a public urinal. Everytime Im here, I wish Id chosen to hike back through Cold Spring which has a cleaner station.

2020-01-31Express peak-time service to NYC along MetroNorths most scenic route. Digitized signage, vending machines selling tickets and leasing parking spaces. Enclosed waiting area. Steep staircases, but there is also an elevator. Long underpass beneath the tracks which connects the rail lines two sides, but said underpass is soaked in urine.

2021-07-15I grew up in Beacon during the 80s and 90s. We never went down to the waterfront park because of how dilapidated and trashed it always was. I havent lived in Beacon for 20+ years now, but I go back every year or so to see how things have changed. The waterfront is now a really nice place to visit, with an excellent view.

2021-06-04Quaint little town, perfect for a day trip. You can spend time at Dia:Beacon, walk through Main St. and enjoy the sunset at the dock.

2019-12-03I love visiting Beacon, New York. It is a simple train ride from the Metro North train station out of Grand Central Terminal, and on Main Street there are plenty of shops and eateries to satisfy every taste and budget. It is a city, but looks and feels like a town. I go as often as I can and love visiting and spending a day or two there when I do. I cannot over-recommend visiting a lovely part of the Dutchess County/Hudson Valley place in New York State.

2019-01-03Excellent, but the heat in the waiting room was slow to heat up. The plastic windows in the waiting area are scratched and dirty. The stairs leading to the south exit smells like piss. The exit at the northern end has a void behind the stairs where someone can hide and snatch you up especially at night.

2017-07-05Do not go in tunnel area if you can avoid. It always smells. Worst then a NY subway. The paint is pealing all over, rust everywhere and lighting is shotty. That being said, beautiful view and very nice park on river and plenty of parking and ease of access.

2020-10-26They’re building a bridge on the north side of the platform but it’s not done so the south exit is the only one available. Also, when the bridge is done it will only exit on the east side of the platform and not on the west from the looks of it . You’ll have to go to the south exit which looks a little sketch to get off the platform to get to the river. All in all, it serves its purpose but nothing exciting.

2017-12-18Your average train station. Noting special. No bathroom, not much parking, made to get you in and out as fast as possible. Best station to get into Newburgh/Cornwall from Grand Central. Faster ride than from Garrison.
