Beaver Island Golf Course and Bogeys are both outstanding. The staff at the golf course is so kind, courteous and caring. We are always greeted with a smile and friendly service. We have become on first name basis with many members of the excellent staff such as Brandon, Joe, Gianna, and many many more. It is a friendly and fun atmosphere!! The food at Bogeys is ridiculously good, and they have the best French fries on this planet. The staff at Bogeys is also excellent as Sydney, Anna and many more always great us with a pleasant smile! Kudos !!
This is a really nice old school golf course. Which means there’s no out of bounds and no houses. Which is pretty rare these days. Really nice greens for a public coarse. The only problem I see with this course is the tee boxes need to be updated. They only have two sets of tees, white red/gold. They need at least five sets because the white tees are almost 6500 yards long and should be blue tees. The red and senior tees are the same distance and they’re 6100 yards which is way too long. This is 2021 and you don’t have 2 sets of tees. They need to get with the times.
Its really nice to have so much right in your own backyard. Save money and get a New York Park Pass and you can visit any park in NY. North end, Buckhorn State Park, and South end Beaver Island State Park with tons of parking, snack bar, golf, massive grass area to play some games, fishing off the little bridge, boardwalk, restrooms, beach, a lot of grassy areas with picnic tables and covered area that you can reserve to grill at with your family and friends, playground, bar outside in the summer evenings. Sledding hill and snow shoeing. Both State Parks have nice bike paths which is so fun. Niagara Falls is right down the Niagara River from the north end. Fabulous bike path that is on the West River side of the Island and is about ten miles or so long. Has overlooks you can stop and have picnics or catch some sun. Goes all the way to Beaver Island State Park. You can see Canada across the way that have very pretty views. A good long bike rides or a run for everyone.
We always love coming here and walking around. Its scenic and has plenty of things for the whole family. They have a playground, a beach, swimming with lifeguards (during certain hours), public restrooms, shelters/grills, walking paths...its just beautiful! The beach isnt like going to an ocean, but the kids love it and it does provide a really great atmosphere. Some parts of the beach have a volleyball net as well. The parking is $7 during the day, but its free after 6pm. Either way its a relaxing way to spend your time and worth making the effort to go to.
You just cant beat the fun in the sun for $7 a day per vehicle. I brought my 9 year old daughter and her friends to Beaver Island multiple times and they all loved it. The beach and boardwalk is well maintained, there is ample lifeguards monitoring the swimming area, shaded places to picnic or partake in items purchased at the concession stand, and a new playground too. I didnt see it for myself but understand the restrooms/changing area may be in need of more frequent cleaning but often that is the case with public restrooms.
Great park. I went to the beach and it was a great little spot. The water is pretty shallow and calm so it’s pretty fun to chill in. The lifeguards do a good job as well. Plenty of stuff to do. The scenery is really great too! The swimming area is pretty small, though which does limit the fun a little bit. Still a great place though.
Its a very peaceful environment. Great for picnics, some volleyball courts and fun little playground. THE BEACH WAS AMAZING! Certainly not the best one Ive been to but has everything youd be looking for. I had a good time there and am looking forward to going back.😄👍👍👍
I have been going to Beaver Island State Park for 40+ years. The bad years at the park. Like when the Casino/Banquet Hall had a fire, Board walk was run down and the roads were brutal.I am happy to say all of this has been not only corrected. Yet it has been improved on greatly. The Banquet hall is open for rental. The Board walk is repaired and checked every Spring. Great place to go for a picnic or outing. I am not a golfer, however many use the parks golf course. Purchase a NYS yearly park pass and save a ton on free entrance, and all other NYS parks including Niagara Falls.
I haven’t played here in a year or two! This place has so much potential and has improved immensely since my last visit! The course is well maintained and greens were true and faster than I remember! Due to COVID there were no tee box markers, which seemed a little weird !
Not the best beach but if youre not trying to go all the way to woodlawn or sunset this is in between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. They have a playground, volleyball net, concession stands, designated smoking areas & a beautiful scenic route. The water isnt the cleanest but its still a good place to go for summer
Very nice golf course that is kept in great shape and it wont break the bank to play there. Is one of the courses that drain very well, so its a good course to play after some rain or if there is rain in the forecast. very long course, could be tough if you dont get good distance off of the tee.
Nice course, forgiving for those who dont quite hit it on tightrope!!! Greens were in good shape, somewhat on the quick side, for me.some of the fairways could use a little TLC,mini potholes could b filled in and maybe some more trees to define some of the fairways a little better. Overall a good place.
I like this speech, but, theres about eight feet of really bad rocks on your way into the water, honestly it hurt my feet so bad I thought I was going to cry! On the way out I had to go super super slow and try to place my feet in areas where there were too many rocks. otherwise, everybody was very appropriately socially distance. Except for these 10 peoplewho were all close together, no masks, and absolutely no social distancing. Seeing that kind of thing really annoys me. Also, when I was leavingthe smaller parking lot, there were some kind of low-life people having a picnic near by, and one woman dragged her Rottweiler by his collar with two hands, and then put him on a chain, and smacked him on the back really hard. I would have said somethingbut I was alone and they look like the type of people that would beat me up or something. I wish I would have taken a picture and then reported them to the Park Police. But, the sand is clean and the water was really refreshing, although you do end up with some shredded up seaweed floating around.
Wonderful park. Just needs to be kept up on with the garbage. There is always garbage, chicken bones, dirty diapers, etc. Laying all over the place every time we go here. Its usually very busy during the summer, and understandably so, there is a beach (which is also usually very dirty and littered.)
Used to love this beach. Great family place. Glad to see the cleanliness improving. Last 2 times I have visited with children there have been several topless woman running in and around the beach and boardwalk and men taking pictures while they pose for multiple photo shoots. I feel like there is adult film making taking place. Families should not have to be exposed to this. Apparently its in the Beaver Island handbook thats its okay to be topless. Maybe so but not in that manner. Several families felt uncomfortable and left. Life guards advised thr families to move down the beach. We just moved back to our cars. No thanks!
Reserved a tee time and paid ahead... show up and they dont have a cart available. For some reason carts and golf are completely separate payment wise?! When we did get to play last week there werent any flags...have played several other courses since Covid safety adjustments and they have flags. What do we aim at? Kind of an important part of the game...
Clean and beautiful. The only issue I had with the place was that when some lifeguards in training came to the beach one of them broke off and said something to my 5 yr old he came running to me crying and the lifeguard didnt even think to explain what had happened to my husband or I. I didnt think that was handled very well. We were on the way out anyway so we didnt push the matter but I think the lifeguards need to work on how they deal with children. But I suppose they are there to save lives not be nice people so it may not matter very much anyway.
Dropped in 3:00 as a two-some on a Sunday to play golf but they said itd be a 40+ minute wait. I used to be able to stop in and theyd get you on even if it meant letting you on the back. New management so you need tee times now which is difficult if an opportunity just pops up for you to play in your hectic life. Forget the weekday after work. They have leagues scheduled throughout so almost impossible to get on. So much for being able to enjoy a publically funded course. I liked the old management better.
We went there for a wedding, the food was inedible. The strip steak was cooked to the point of hamburger and the potatoes and chicken was cold and shriveled. And we were served first. The bar was closed an hour earlier than it was supposed to and despite the 90 degree weather, an outdoor dance floor and a cleared banquet room water was no where to be found. So disappointed in a beautiful venue.
If you are a kayaker, there are three great places to launch kayaks here at Beaver Island. Near the Marina is an easy access launch to the inner loop with calm waters filled with wildlife and a chance to give the Niagara River a try. The southernmost launch around River Lea gives you access to the Niagara River and a quick way to reach Motor Island and Strawberry Island.
The beach itself is always clean but my issue is with the lifeguards... How dare you tell my kids they are not allowed to have saftey floaties on...they can swim but it is a little protection just in case..but to tell me my 5 and 6 year olds cant have anything but a full vest is rediculous...youd rather my kid drown than have swimmies...im so freaking livid rn!😡
I play in a weekly Thursday night league and Im noticing that the course is starting to be neglected by the grounds crew again. Theyre only watering the greens and not the fairways as much. Getting really rough. The pro shop manager claimed that he was going to make it a better course and I have yet to see improvements better than the previous manager
Great Frolf Course. Best place to Disc golf on Grand Island. Nice views on every hole. Very Challenging course. You might want to pack some heavy discs on the windy days.Disc golf is becomming so popular. It was great to see Phatman Boardshop started Phatman Disc Supply in the shop at 2889 Sheridan Dr., Tonawanda. They were very helpfull in picking out the Discs to use at Beaver Island Park.
I have been playing Beaver Island for the past two summers. Last year when I visited for the first time, I was absolutely shocked by the great condition of the greens and how well they take care of the course for a state park. The greens fees are reasonable and the staff that work there are very friendly, accommodating, and professional. Good value for your money. A drainage system would benefit this course, as one hole in particular, is always like a sponge after a heavy rain. Definitely worth visiting.
Stop trashing this course so much. Im an islander and play here at least twice a week, and its not THAT bad. No, its not Bethpage. Its a publicly run course that costs $11 for 9 holes. This is capitalism, you get what you pay for. This being said, if you want to practice getting out of terrible lies, this is a great place.
1st tee to 18th green is an embarrassment to New York State. Used to be an ok public course, but has turned into a disaster. Unfortunate because it has potential to be very nice. Greens here are unacceptable fairways at a nice course. Only plus is that the prices are very fair; really reflect the quality of the course.

2022-05-23Course is in rough shape compared to other NY state Parkes courses. Poor drainage with several ponds accumulated after rain. Definitely gone down hill over the past few years. Ill pass on playing here until they put some money in to repair this cow pasture called a golf course.

2019-07-01I used to come here as a kid. Much of it is just the same. Some of it has been fixed up and maintained. I see they have a snack bar now and the main building looks cleaned up and usefulThis still unfortunately suffers from neglect in funding in certain areas. The boardwalk is in need of some repair(wear footwear). Some play areas have been neglected and left to rust while others are new and upkept.Still not a bad park. It has some great views and is wide enough for lots of people to use it while not being on top of each other. Bike trails, golf course, frisbee golf, etc.

2020-06-21Beautiful beach. Plenty of room to social distance. No trash cans on the actual beach, had to track down a can in the parking lot. (No white bathing suits or lightly colored- under the water is a dark almost black clay that stains!)

2018-12-30A pleasant park that has plenty of activities to offer. It is a nice place for cross country skiing in the winter. With the exception of summer, it is a peaceful place to run if you want to avoid road traffic. If you are into photography there are wonderful scenic sunset views and wildlife at the nearby trails. Check it out!

2018-06-16Decent course, nothing fancy. The clubhouse burned down a few years ago and the new one is such a huge improvement. They serve food, beer, and booze. Breakfast till 11 and lunch after that. Breakfast options, the day I was there (June 2018), was only a small breakfast sandwich or a small breakfast burrito. Not impressed. Course is wide open and pretty straight with a few sand and water traps. Great price and one of the closest courses to the city. Be warned about bridge traffic.

2018-08-24Always a lovely beach to visit! Nice patrons spread all around the grounds. Kids are handled and respectful of others. Swimming area seemed kind of small. Possibly expanded for heavy populations.

2018-07-164th of July, Beaver Island State Park is a nice place to visit. Of course you have the beaches... Go pick out a picnic table with a grill, set up your cook out, eat to your heart content, then head down to the beach to cool off in the lake
