Both parents reside at Bellhaven, everytime I visit they both look well cared for and happy, in fact the administration and staff placed my parents in side by side beds! The nursing staff and administration is professional, patient, attentive and understanding. The facilities are very clean and well maintained, the lobby looks like a hotel entrance and my parents room is always clean and tidy. Although it was a difficult decision to make relocating my folks from a home environment to a senior living facility, Bellhaven made my decision easy.
Just an update on my review from a while back. My husband and I visited this weekend in person for the first time since COVID restrictions lifted a bit. Everyone was sweet and kind during what has surely been a difficult time at the home.My brother has MS and has been a resident at Bellhaven for more than two years. My family and I have been extremely happy to see much improvement in service at Bellhaven over the course of that time. It is so important to us that the facility is clean, my brother has activities, and the staff is caring. The home is getting better and better in all these areas. I hope they keep improving! Another thing I would hope for is that they obtain a license to administer medical marijuana. For my brother’s condition this has been proven to enhance the quality of life. And there are other conditions that would benefit too. I wish the home would strive to do everything they can to improve the life of chronically ill like my brother. Another note... Last week, a nurse who had the day off and was stopping in to drop something off to a friend, stopped and gave my brother a big smile and said “Hi Tom! How are you today?” That was lovely. It made him, and me, happy.
Our mom has been in Bellhaven nursing home in the dementia wing for 15 months and she has gotten excellent care. Her aides and nurses care about her and were always willing to listen when we had a concern. She is nonverbal and has diabetes and is confined to a wheelchair. They have really taken care of her. When the COVID-19 virus hit, the director shut down new admissions in order to keep the patients safe. They had very few cases among the patients because they took steps early on.
I would strongly recommend this place. My mom had stayed at Bellhaven Center forRehab after her stay at the hospital for about 3 weeks here. Andrea the speech therapist and Melissa were AMAZING! They put the time and effort in with her and my mom loved them. Thank you guys so much!
I live out of town but was in the area so I took some time to visit my sister in the memory care wing. The facility seems clean, the staff seemed friendly but not overly helpful. I think they spoke to me only because I was not a familiar face. There were residents in the Activity Room and other patients up and about in various other rooms and the hall. The aide who was in the common area did not know where my sister was, so she went looking in the activity room. Not finding her she assumed that my sister was in her room. I proceeded down the hall. When I got to the nurses station they asked if they could help me and I told them I was going to see my sister and provided her name. They just directed me to go down the hall. I found my sisters room. At 10:30 in the morning she was sitting up in bed. The bed was upright. She was still in her gown with an empty cereal bowl in on the bed and a juice cup on the bed table. I pulled up a chair and noticed all these flecks on the floor near the bed which turned out to be toenail clippings. I checked her feet and they appeared to be freshly clipped. Her socks were next to her on the bed, not having been put back on.I visited with her until 11:00. She was in a good mood and did not seemed distressed at all.Ideally, by 10:30 in the morning I would have preferred to see her out of bed, washed and dressed and out of her room so it could be cleaned. And I was not pleased to see toenail clippings on the floor that she could have been walking on in her bare feet had she gotten up to go to the bathroom. My brother in law had called the facility the day before to let them know I was coming to visit. It was obvious that message was never relayed to anyone ( I mentioned to the girl at reception that my brother in law had called yesterday and all she said was that she wasnt there yesterday. Dont you have sticky notes?) and my sister was not prepared to see visitors. So, I too had to sit in a room that smelled of urine with toenail clippings under my shoes. For someone who has lost so much due to her dementia, the familys comfort is that at least she is safe, happy, fed, clean and dry. Now, for my part, I guess I am not even sure she is all of that.Debbie Fontes
Having to put a loved on into nursing care is a difficult decision. Not only is my father well cared for but he seems very happy there. The staff all know him by name. They are always kind and friendly. Whatever you are doing to maintain a happy content staff keep it up. A nursing home is only as good as it’s staff. Can’t thank the staff enough for their care and compassion.
Bellhaven is a great facility. My Aunt had a major stroke and they have been taking great care of her. The moment I walked into the facility I got a great vibe. I could clearly see that it was clean and well taken care of. The patients are well taken care of and thats obvious. The staff are kind, cheerful, positive and caring. Every facility I called spoke so negatively to me regarding my Aunts condition but Bellhaven never did that. Despite my Aunt having a major stroke, which some do not always recover from, Bellhaven still maintained a positive outlook. My Aunt is actually doing so well and is healing rapidly. God bless everyone that has been working with my Aunt to make her better. I thank God for you. This facility and the staff are amazing.
Im only giving it one star, not because of the staff, but because who ever the owner is. They need to hire more people, the staff is trained to do a job, unfortunately because of the lack of sufficient staff- these qualified people cant do their jobs as trained. My mom has been here almost 5 yrs, love the staff unfortunately, they are overworked, and Im sure underpaid! The administration staff is great, but there is only so much they can do, without the owners ok. So, Im writing this with the hope that the owner, who ever you are- consider the amt of money you are making in contrast to the care the residents are receiving. You have a beautiful facility, great employees - take care of your people, so they can take care of our families
I looked around and visited several nursing facilities for my dear friend Jean. In both suffolk county and nassau county and I was impressed from day one when I visited Bellhaven. Its been a little over 2 years now and its consistently clean and the staff is exceptional. Bellhaven in Bellport provides the level of care dignity and respect the elderly who can no longer live on their own so desperately need. I thank God for this place. I wish more places like this were available for people who need them.
Filthy and disgusting. I found two staff people who actually cared about my Dad. The rest of them were horrible. The bathroom always smelled like urine. Now that he has been moved to a better facility, the bruises on his arms seem to have gone away. I find that very interesting. If you have a loved one who needs rehab or long term care, run as far away from this place as you can.
The staff at Bellhaven were great in helping a family member to rehab quickly and return home faster than anyone anticipated! Good, caring aids and medical staff, along with an excellent physical therapy department, did an amazing job in reversing what could have easily resulted in being long term residential. If you have someone in need of short term rehabilitation I strongly suggest looking into Bellhaven. This was my third time with a loved one in Bellhaven and without reservation I wouldnt hesitate to use their services again.Once again my loved one needed the services of Bellhaven. After looking at several other facilities Bellhaven was my first choice. From Day Care, rehab, and residential care the care was outstanding. Family advocacy helps the caregivers to see the person as unique and affords a more personalized care plan. The facility has outstanding professional personnel that along with family members help the patient to get the personalized care needed. Its heartbreaking to see our loved ones in distress but with our love, involvement and the top notch professional care Ive seen at Bellhaven it does make it easier for our loved ones to adjust to new realities. If youre expecting a country club this isnt it. I you need real deal care & loving concern for yourself or a loved one this is the place.
Besides being an absolutely gorgeous building, the staff at Bellhaven were so attentive to my great-grandmothers needs. I chose Bellhaven for her because when I had come to tour the facility, I saw the way in which the residents were treated with such care. I couldnt have picked a better facility.
Upon entering the facility the staff where attentive to suitors and ensured safety of the residents by verification of identity and hi was to be seen. I received directions while walking to the unit- by a staff- without prompting. The facility was very clean, the residents all looked clean, no urine or stool odor was dectectable on the unit that has a high rate of bowel &bladder incontinence. The Nurse was assistive, knowledgeable about the resident. And the med cart was neat, organized -which I know is assistive in preventing errors.
My mother is dying of cancer and the hospice staff are awful. Dr. Fahey should retire! Telling me my mom keeps taking her fentynal patch off that is in between her shoulder blades?! They told me she would be comfortable until the end! Lies!! They actually admitted that one of the hospice workers, is not comfortable with the death process. The worst!!
This is a very sad place. My uncle rang his call bell and the staff repeatedly turned it off and even called him names for pressing it. His bathroom was filthy and always smelled of urine, even though he never used it.The staff refused to give him a blanket during the night when he was cold. Most of our troubles happened during the late night hours. Where is the supervision? Where is the compassion???I wish it were possible to post ZERO stars but the program wont let me.
The nurses were great! However, the nurses aides and laundry crew...HORRIBLE. On 3 separate episodes, my loved one had NO clothes in his drawer or closet. The day I arrived to bring him home...NO CLOTHES AT ALL. He came home with the clothes on his back and that was it. He also was sent home with feces embedded around every finger nail. He also smelled of feces. DISGRACEFUL.
I went there today thinking a friend of mine was a resident there. The sign in computer let me sign in, let me put me friends name as the person I was visiting, BUT I had to ask the receptionist what unit he was in. Whats his name she asked. I told her the name. No, he is not a resident here. OK. BUT why didnt the sign in computer know that? The receptionist said any name could have been put in there as the person I was seeing?! Anyway, I think this sign in thing needs some updating.
Having a bad experience here at my stay ,only staff is good is physical therapy, I was told one thing before I arrived and todsy stories has change . I was called a liar by a staff members that is in called for they are lucky I kept my cool , gonna call my insurance company up and complain about bad manners thanks for a first time bad experience

2022-01-18The experience was a good one. To be tested as you arrive and only granted access after a negative test is a great comfort. Exchanging my mask for a KN 95 upon entrance further suggests care for the patients, staff and guests. Nurse was thorough and professional. Speech therapist explained dietary concerns and the progress made so far. Very happy with care my dear friend is receiving at your facility.

2022-02-16My sister and I brought my mom there yesterday from another nursing home, which was horrible. It had no help, but moving mom here to Bellhaven, was a terrific experience. We already love the staff, who made mom feel right at home. The staff were helpful from admissions, to nursing, thank you Jessica, Marisole and the maintance young man, who brought us a remote control. Thanks again! Keep up good work!

2022-05-09Wish I could rate it -00 stars!I don’t even know where to begin, how much a disaster this nursing home | rehabilitation center is. I would stay clear if I were you & your family. It isn’t so much the facility, it is more of the support staff | management. When my best friend’s grandma developed the FLU; she was neglected. She was put in A room with the door closed, the nurses would come in the room and tell her to stop calling. I am a nurse myself, and neglect is an understatement. Thank God family was an advocate and called a ambulance to take her out of there. They would have left her to die. I went to visit her in the hospital, she had no voice from screaming for help in this facility. They should feel ashamed of themselves.Best believe this will be reported to the state, since administration at the facility did not want to hear the concerns of the family but asked them to step outside along with another nurse to try to have a altercation. These are the humans that are representing this facility.

2021-11-26Bellhaven is great place with a wonderful staff. My grandma is currently staying there and she seems to love it even though she has no idea where she is and still thinks its the year 1929. The whole staff is very friendly especially the woman at the front desk. Today I brought my grandma a hand traced Turkey I drew and colored on my own and the woman at the desk complimented my artwork. I froze and told her my kid drew it but that was a lie, it was me I don’t even have kids. Please don’t show this to her, she can never know.10/10 place though will recommend to my family when it’s time for them to put me in a retirement home.

2021-08-06The care my mother in law is receiving at Bellhaven is very good and now that my wife and myself can see her room, take her outside and speak to the staff in person is a wonderful thing. Visiting her now is a joy and your staff has been helpful and attentive to her and us during this horrible past year of limited time with her. She is clean, her room is orderly and clean , so Loretta and I have no issues with her care up to this point. Thank you for giving us peace of mind .

2022-03-29Do yourself and loved ones a favor, stay away from this place. Deplorable is an understatement, from the care, cleanliness, staff attitudes, etc. I would give 0 stars if I had the option of doing so.

2021-09-13Visiting my mother in law was very easy. We arrived and received a COVID test. 15 minutes later we were able to enter the building. I’m hoping visitation will so be more than only two visitors per week. I think screening for COVID is a necessary step in keeping our loved ones safe. I know it would be difficult but I wish staff was tested the same way visitors must be
