Blick Art Materials in other cities:
Im old school. The last time Ive been to an art store was when Pearl Paints, on Canal Street, was open. I used to go there while in college.Blick is an amazing place. I now go there with my 14 yo son for school projects and they have everything. I will continue to go there for as long as they are open.
Maybe tell the arrogant discriminatory staff behind your counter that when someone comes in assisted by a clearly service animal and not wearing a mask , they might have a medical reason. And to then refuse to let them pay while at the register and threaten them ?? .. keep rudely discriminating against the disabled and youll be sued in no time .
Generally excellent range of materials (not so true right now but thats due to the Pandemic - call or order if its specific) and the prices are fair. I wish they had a better selection of quality watercolor brushes but what they have is acceptable. The staff is as friendly and helpful as one would expect and hope for. They try their best and know their stock.
This was my first visit to this blick I was surprised to find the goodies I found at such amazing discounted prices so happy I checked them out .it was friendly staff tht accommodated my small dog I had traveling with me . My pet even had an accident in the store and the staff provided me with napkins and antiseptic spray to tidy up . There were fast moving lines and also others customers that were happily shopping the store as I was .
I placed an order over the phone recently and was pleased to have such a courteous and helpful customer service representative help me. She helped me figure out the best canvas to order that would allow me to construct a large scale painting. She even assisted with all the items I would need to building my canvas stretcher bars. It was a pleasure to get the help of a such a knowledgeable employee. I would definitely order from Blick Art Materials again.
I only came here for a bulldog clip, but I was extremely happy with my experience. The employees are extremely nice and helpful (they directed me to my item because I couldnt find it at first) and the store is clean and simply LOADED with incredible supplies! If I had another art supply need, Id definitely come back!
Ive honestly havent been in such a huge art supply store before and I was amazed by the wide range of stock they have. Staff was super friendly and helpful. A really warm welcome and a lovely chat at the counter. If I lived here I would have been coming here as much as I could.
Blick has everything you could need for your artist desires. I wish staff was a little more present on the floor to help with the those who arent as savvy about art supplies or just dabbling as a hobby but overall, it serves its purpose as an art store. Pricing is really the best youre going to get for the quality youre provided. I pass by every now and then for paint, brushes, and canvas (probably the best prices on stretched canvas in the city).
If youre anything like me, you would also enjoy to wander around in this store and appreciate the way the colours are displayed on the racks. Its a one stop shop for all your arty needs. Pretty much everything youll need under one roof. The quality of the products also look convincing. They offer memberships too which can get you 10% discount on purchases.
Materials for the hip, brilliant, NYC art student or for that little hip art student in all of us. There are many Blicks in NYC. This is the one that services Pratt. Its packed with supplies for painting, sculpting, building, printing, molding, spray painting... If its not here its on line. And dont worry if you see it cheaper online. The store matches any price that you see on their website automatically. Prices are fair in general and they often have sales. Framing departments in most stores. Service is spotty but acceptable. My only problem is the hours. They close at 7pm weekdays which I consider little early for a shop.
My latest experience here was great --called ahead, they had what I needed and offered to hold it till I got there, even had more options to consider. Everything was easy. This is a huge improvement to the customer service Ive felt in the past, thus 4 stars. Itll take another positive experience to earn that fifth one ;)
Art supply shop associated with Pratt Institute - they do a lot of good sales and have really knowledgeable staff if youre looking to compare products of get insight on quality. They have sales pretty regularly, so it may be worth calling before you go to see if you wait a day you may save or get a better deal.
Everything youd expect from Blick. If you like the company, youll like the store. The employees manned the door at closing, but still let people in 5 minutes before end of day. Excellent customer service around that time. Not sure where something is? Theyd be happy to show you.
Such a wonderful store. Awesome customer service. A Clean & organized store .Great selection of products from (markers, paint, paint brushes, canvas, scetch pads, colored pencil .....Art supplies & prices of all kind.....from extremely expensive to bargain prices for the budget shopper. Just a over all great addition to BROOKLYN...
We dont have a choice anymore since this is the only art supply store in the neighborhood and because Dick Blick bought Utrecht. Reasonably-priced art supplies. Overpriced hardware (never buy lighting supplies here). Friendly and helpful staff. I have no complaints against DICK BLICK MONOPOLY.
This store has a wide collection or art supply, its large and clean - but, based on todays experience - I would not purchase here unless it was an emergency and I cant wait for Amazon. I picked a certain ruler, stood in line, and after I paid, I noticed that the price was higher than what was mentioned on it. I walked back to where I found it, and made sure im not blaming them for I mistake I made, but I was charged a dollar more. I went back to the cashier that served me, told her that she over-charged me, and she started by telling me its the tax... then we told her that the receipt shows the base charge + tax separately, so she said they dont always update the prices, theres nothing she can do about it, and if I want to return it I need to go back in-line...... (rude!) lucky for her that another worker came immediately and told us hell help us out, and sorted out the price for us with the help of his manager... Not only that the prices are much higher than online, but that kind of service is unacceptable and uncalled for. If this is the price thats advertised, they have to honor it. if they dont have the manpower to update the tags, dont change the price either.
This place gets five star just for me walking in the door, the place has everything an artist could ever want also you cant help but wanting to return here they are very helpful and its like being a kid in a candy store but its all art supplies, my money is my voice need art supplies visit this place its great !
Who would have ever thought? Pratt Institute is right down the road why not put an art supplies store here? You know why? Because people take art classes at Pratt! My favorite thing to do at this place is to just look at all of the colored pens and markers. It makes me smile.
Kayla, the cashier, and Ian, sales associate, are the bomb. They were so patient with me. Ian helped me get the majority of items on my daughters art supply list. She is an art student at UAlbany. Kayla was patient with me also because I realized that I forgot 3 things off my list that were on the other side of the store. She put all my stuff on the side and organized it in a way to help me to ship it later. Also she signed me up for the student discount for my daughter. That was so helpful because now my daughter gets 10% off when she shops at Blick art material in Albany. Also, if I purchase the wrong material, she can do the exchange up there as Im all the way in New York City. Kayla also was able to find me a discount coupon that helped save more money over the 10%, $47 in total. Huge blessing!
Its Big Art, but its sure is convenient. They have the biggest selection in a two-mile radius. Granted, Apple Art is still more personal, but Blick does have some extended offerings. Dont go looking for sculpture supplies here though, head the the Compleat Sculptor. Also, for an art store, there is an oppressive collection of gift shop crap cluttering the checkout area.

2022-06-05Well-equipped store with very helpful staff... Display remains the same as in all Blick stores... Floor to way above head-height racks, filled with everything an artist might need. Its certainly worth a visit with lots of time on hand for browsing and exploring all the aisles😊

2022-06-22This is my first time at this location and Trevonne was amazing when helping me! He was so patient and really took the time to answer all my questions. He also has really kind eyes so I felt comfortable enough to trust his judgement and product recommendations. The girl (I didn’t get her name) with the glasses was great too. She was super nice and funny.

2021-03-09I was looking for a large heavy canvas, they had several in stock. When I noticed the one I first got had a blemish on it, they gladly exchange it for a other one. Very friendly and helpful staff.

2022-02-04Small stock of items and they never have cash in their registers, I’ve been burned here too many times not to say something. I recently came here to return $12 of extra supplies that I didn’t end up using from a $200 purchase and they were incredibly rude to me as if it was my fault they didn’t have money in their drawer to pay me. This is not the only time this has happened here either. It’s a craft store, of course you’re going to have extra unused supplies, why are they continuously making simple returns such a hassle and shaming me for using cash?
