I am graduating from this school literally in a couple of days. I can’t express how happy I am to almost say I finally did it! It’s been a long time coming but even with taking breaks because “life” happened, I can say I feel accomplished. The experience at the school was great I met the most beautiful people that were there for me and guided me through the entire process. I thank Ms.Melissa and Ms.Millie for always being there when I needed someone. My first teacher Ms.Rios was the BOMB!! A beast hands down. She taught me so many tricks of the trade and helped me become more confident. When I first met Ms.JC I didn’t really gravitate to her as much as I did when I finally made it onto the Salon floor. She taught me so many new things even though she didn’t have to because it’s not part of the curriculum. She spoke to me as a friend, as a mother and as a mentor. Needless to say they ALL played a huge part in me achieving my goals & I’m extremely grateful. Everyone may have their own opinions but if you set your mind up to achieve something in life you’ll get it done. No matter the circumstances!
The school was great and everything went well here. I enjoyed everything about it. Also, the school was very clean and made licensing easier. The classes were easy to enroll in and I learned a lot. They have very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I recommend Brittany beauty Academy in the Bronx
As with everything everyone has different experiences I feel that if you put your mind to what your doing and focus on that your surrounding will work with you and so far that has been my experience. So far I have been very happy and everyone has been great through my new journey. My teacher Mrs. Rios is very understanding, polite and intellectual she does her very best to meet everyones needs. I ask alot of questions and she is very patient and always makes sure to explain everything to the best of her abilities. When one becomes frustrated she is understanding and helps to ease the process of understanding the subject and or segment that is being done. I will keep everyone posted on my continuing process at Brittany so far highly recommended by me.
I came with long messy hair and insecurities but left with the most amazing short hair cut ever! I absolutely loved the experience I had in this beauty academy, I think I might have even found my main stylist. No one was rude, the receptionist even gave me some hydrating conditioner for my stylist to use on me, on the house! I will definitely be coming here again!
Hello, I have completed the Nail Tech program recently at the Brittany Beauty Academy Bronx location. I want to start off by saying this program is meant for getting your state license. And you do need to take additional courses to further your nail career. Now as far as my experience at the school it wasn’t horrible but there is definitely room for improvement. The way the curriculum is set up will leave you confused for the first few days, you’re basically going in on a unit that is already finishing and you start a new unit the following week, which is your official first unit. The kit the school sells is what you need for the state board (which needs to be unsealed for the state test) and not enough supplies to practice in class. You’re better off getting your supplies from the nail supply store (not a beauty supply) the school can provide a list of everything you need and where to go. Since talking about supplies once you’re out of the class room and on the floor taking customers that come to the school and pay for services you use your own supplies as well. They do have a small box with a few regular nail polishes to choose from, but yet offer other services and expect the students to provide the materials. They do provide all the supplies for all the cosmetology services offered. With the nail industry on the rise I feel that they should have a better and more organized program for us. As Nail Tech Students (18-25) we had to sit in a small room with no window and share a table with three people at times, how is that comfortable? How is that safe as far as the ventilation? I was told there’s AC (that was broken most of the time). Now let’s talk Mani/Pedi stations ok we had manicure tables. But Pedicure chairs literally cost ½ the tuition and yet we didn’t even have one to do a proper pedicure at. We had to perform pedicures in at home foot spa tubs that were dirty and dusty from hair and sitting around on the floor, then take turns with the pedicure seat because there is only one or you can just put the clients foot on your knee and scrub away. That is not, one professional in the least, two not realistic and prepping a student for the work field and three not sanitary. Paying attention to your hours is a MUST, especially if making up hours you get a 30 min break but they take an hour from you if you go in before 12 Noon with no reasonable explanation justifying why. As well as keeping track of your service tickets, I keep notes of everything and took pictures, yes it was that serious. I get that there are many students but once again organization plays a big role. As well as exams I was given the wrong mock state board so many times. (cosmo instead of nail tech) I had to wait for the actual nail tech instructor to come in and give me the correct exam. As far as job placement I found work at a nail salon while attending class and was offered two other positions through the school to do nails in beauty salons, once again cosmetology focused. I found employment on my own at a second location and yes another nail salon where a nail tech is more likely to be sought out for service. I feel the school could be better if they put more funding into their other programs and it be better structured. As far as the Instructors/Staff I personally got along well with them, but you get the same energy you put out.At the end I got my license and was able to connect with some awesome people. Just wish it was a better experience.
I went there yesterday to get a wash and cut. I paid less than $20 (usually I pay $40-$45!) and ended up with a great hair cut. The girl that did my hair (sorry I forgot your name!) was very sweet and the teacher did a very good showing her how to achieve the hair style that I wanted (short in the back and tapering longer in the front - asymmetrical lob). The only thing is that since its a school, the other students wanted to observe the cut. No issues, its just a little weird if you arent used to it. Would definitely go there again, and am looking forward to checking out their other services.
This turned out to be a horrible experience for me after asking to take a leave they reported me to the creditors and lied and said that I dropped out!!! That was not at all the case I sent emails and called explaining my situation which was unexpected as I was a victim of a crime and I had documents for proof I asked what was the process for taking a leave didnt hear anything back now my credit has taken a huge hit!! Which I will be disputing. They definitely need to upgrade the class rooms!!! The nail room should just be that the nail room, during the day the room was used for hair so we would come in and have mounds of hair all over which is a nail tech worse nightmare, no proper ventilation or air conditioning system! We had a fan in the class room yes a fan in a nail tech class room lol SMH they are not good at all with communication very unorganized! Very unorganized!! they try to pull it together when the owner is coming in, Fired the instructor in the middle of a unit, then wanted students to retest re do units etc. Barely enough space for students to sit and learn comfortably ppl having to sit at the edge of the tables only way u were guaranteed a seat was if u went in atleast an hour early which is ridiculous on numerous occasions I was called and spoken to in the most disrespectful way in reference to unpaid tution, told I was dropped from the program, was told I set up new payment plans with this one and that one all false because they were contacting the wrong person!!! Im not even going to get into the cheap nail tech kit u pay 800$ for that they fail to tell you is optional as u can build your own kit and trust u can build a bigger and better kit for less than 800$ the majority of the stuff is 99c items if u know how to do nails and just need to test this school is for u if u are truly looking to learn and grow in your craft go else where better yet try to get into the nail Specialty trainee program by going online and filling out an application if you have a salon in mind and they are willing thats the best route then take the class for the test at LaGuardia or another place that offers and its less than 500$. I had high hopes attending Brittany but man oh man am I disappointed! As are many of my peers who left and those who have graduated. They need to revamp everythinggggggggg I would say more but I dont have enough time lol my advice is do your research!!!! Then do some more oh one thing that was awesome is I met some really cool women who I still keep in touch with and we encourage each other to keep going!
I literally don’t understand on your website you guys say “Perhaps you completed your education but did not take your New York State Board Exam. Our certified instructors can give you an evaluation to determine the exact cosmetology course” for your refresher courses but you guys aren’t taking anyone without their licenses it’s only for people who have the cosmetology license in your website it literally says for people who have their 1000 hours & didnt have their state board exam literally ridiculous been on the “waiting list” since March i’ve been told to call back every month but now that may right around you guys are offering that ???
The worst school ever!!!! Do not waste your money, do your research and go to another school. All this school cares about is taking your money!! The teachers do not even teach you what you need to learn, they go there just to get another check. They are so unorganized, the mess up your hours, tests, days. I have never ever attended a school with such poor ethics! I REGRET ever even considering this school. I am currently enrolled and graduate by the end of this month and I wish I can take it all back and have this experience elsewhere. I am enrolled for nail technician...I was going to enroll for esthetics but I will be taking my money elsewhere. I literally learned what I know through YOUTUBE. Worst school ever please do not even waste your time!!
NOT ACCEPTING OF ALL HAIR TYPES!!!Very disappointing story. I have been/now WAS a customer of Brittany Beauty Academy for well over 7 years and almost always went to them. They now have a horrible policy which affected me as I tried to get a haircut today. I wear my hair curly and wanted a well needed haircut. They refused me right away unless I get a full wash and set /blowout. I said no, as I only wear my hair natural and dont need a blowout just for them to be able to see my hair to do a proper cut.I left and then a stylist saw me and said to go back and speak to a professor. When she approached, her and the front desk girl were insistent that curly hair cant /shouldnt be cut unless blown completely straight. I mentioned how I was a long time customer and now cannot go to this business because they wont cut my hair as is or even wet.Front desk girl got defensive and started raising her voice. So gross and upsetting. They mentioned that the students cant cut curly hair, and I said that is not the problem, the problem is that they arent TAUGHT to cut curly hair; its not in the curriculum.I left stressed out about it - curly hair girls should know that haircuts are so crucial to hair care and mine was way overdue. Trust and judgment are a big issue in salons.I ended up cutting it on 143rd and Willis Av, ask for Angela, she washed and cut my hair well with no problem.FC*K hair type stigmas, learn how to cut all hair.
Ive had a wash and set here more than once, and each time was more than I expected! Yes, you are styled by a student. All the more reason to try it out. You help someone gain experience on a real person than a mannequins head.Very courteous staff and students along with great results! In glad I decided to walk in that first time, and the next.. and the next!
Great School My Daughters Dream Was To Become A Hairdresser And After Doing Some Research We Found Brittany And Im Glad We Did. She Really Enjoyed The Classes, Instructors And Administrators. They Were Very Knowledgeable And Set Her Up For A Long Successful Career In The Beauty Industry. Id Recommend This School To Anyone Looking For A Career In The Beauty Industry.
Im so glad I decided to come to this school! My admissions representative Eileen was very helpful in asnswering all my questions and working with my schedule . If you are interested in doing a beauty course to become licensed I would DEFINITELY recommend you check them out.
School is out of order. Teachers wonder around like if they dont have nothing to do. I suggest lots of things including a make over , everything as of tables ect... Are not up to date. Teachers teach like its whatever like if they not interested in there professional and students get discouraged. Brittany Beauty you neeeds to get it together!!!!!
Admissions was great ! Assistance with financial aid ! I went in today to enroll for nail tech (out of pocket3$$$) only PT M T TH 6-10 pm and came out enrolling in a FT cosmology course 9-5 pm M-F( covered by financial aid 1$,$$$) , I really hope and pray I will not regret this I am really not interested in “Hair Dressing “ ..I was insured that I would be receiving the “full package “ after reading the comments I hoped it’s beyond mani & pedi 🤞🏽... stayed tuned for updates . I may have to reconsider idk ... skeptical 🤨
This has been the worst experience that i ever experienced. Staffs are so rude, i would never come to this school ever again. I don’t recommend this school to nobody. Especially the girl with the blonde hair is so rude , she dont even acknowlede you because shes so busy being rude.
I honestly would never come back here again! This place is horrible, the staff is so rude to there own students mind you it’s the students paying for their own tuition and giving them a job!! The staff didn’t even greet me the blonde lady and the little old lady where just talking the whole time didn’t even analyze my stylist..
I visited this place twice for inquiry of the nail classes and both times the receptionist made my experience here so awkward, she was very unwelcoming. The second time I visited was November 29. the receptionist had red colored hair, appeared to be around 27 years old. Will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone just incase other staff members are as dismissive as she was :/
The staff crew is very money hungry I went it to get a wash and set and only paid for wash and set so the stylist ( I forgot her name) does my hair and it come out puffy she asked me hey do you want me to pass the flat iron so it can be more flat and I said sure because you can tell I was kinda upset that my hair came out the way that it did. so when she start flat ironing my hair the teacher(idk what she was but I’m assuming it was the teacher, she didn’t have any uniform she was sitting down getting her hair done the whole time I was there ) comes up to us and say hey you didn’t pay for that service and the stylist had to leave my hair half straight half puffy .. that was very unprofessional & I would not be going back there!!
This has to be the WORST establishment I have been to! The staff have no professionalism, especially Ms. Millie and the blonde woman.. very rude to their customers and students. I will not recommend this place , its very sad because the location is near my neighborhood and its a place for skill development but unfortunately this beauty academy must re-train their customer service. Do not bother to give your time nor money!

2022-06-08I came into this school March of 2022 for the Nail Technology program having experience on nails for 2 years thinking i wasn’t going to learn anything new I was just coming for my license but I came into this school and was proven to be wrong, Ms. Justalina taught me so much. How to not only improve the nails I do but how to make short and long term plans for my future as a nail technician. She made me tap into my creativity and practice a lot of amazing art to be able to do a little bit of everything. Ms. J is the best teacher I’ve ever had and I’ll forever have respect and love for her because she made me feel like my passion was important and teaching me how to get bigger and better was the cherry on top for me. But not only Ms. J but Ms. Melissa as well, she helped me create ideas on how to further promote my nails and make my business bigger and different ways to put myself out in the industry!! I’ll always come back to visit and help in anyway I can. I definitely highly recommend the nail technology program but I know for sure I’ll be back to take my cosmetology!! Thank you Brittany Beauty Academy for making me love what I do!!

2022-04-04I recently graduated from the Nail Specialty program and would definitely recommend the school if youre looking for a fast tracked state-approved course to take in order to qualify for state licensing exams. While youll find the same state-approved curriculum here as at other beauty schools, this is the only school that allows you to work towards licensing in under 3 months (other programs take 6-9 months for the same 250 state required hours). My teacher Ms JC was an absolute dream and shared so much knowledge and support beyond the textbook. She really cares about her students and it is very clear. Even after graduating she has been open and supportive to me and others. My only critique would be that the administrative office communications were a bit bumpy throughout the program. I had initially signed up for school in Brooklyn and ended up in the Bronx because of enrollment numbers, but it was not communicated transparently to me. They were, however, flexible with my commute given this late change.

2022-05-19This is a thank you letter to my teacher Miss J who had extreme knowledge in Nail Specialty and a school she is apart of called Brittany Beauty Academy. I adventured into the nail salon business with my creativity and no knowledge of the industry. After creating something special and extraordinary I realized I needed some real hands on training. I googled and found Brittany Beauty Academy. After expressing I had no experience in nail technology, I was briefed on the program and the requirements. Most of all I was assured I had a wonderful teacher and would be in good hands. It was an amazing experience to be apart of something so different and special. Especially after all the restrictions that came with the pandemic and Covid-19. Miss J is an experienced teacher a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to all her students. She teaches from not only the text book but from her real life experiences. Something you cannot pay for. This was An encounter I will never forget. Thank you to miss J for a life changing adventure filled with so much love for everyone and Britany Beauty School for another accomplishment.

2022-06-28I’m very grateful for this school to be honest. At first I was afraid to get it a try because of the previous negative reviews but I went along with it anyways. I was able to be in the esthetic program and from this experience I was able to come across amazing teachers and helpful material. Of course with help of my teachers and dedication I was able to get my esthetic license. It’s been a year since graduating and I don’t regret my decision.

2021-10-29A few days ago, I decided to go to Brittany Beauty Academy for a service. It was my first time at the school for anything. I was dissatisfied with the end result of said service, and so I asked to speak to the management team about the matter. I must say, I was very impressed with how management handled the situation. They arranged for me to come in the very next day so as to better assist me with my needs. To maintain a positive relationship with me, they offered various options for tackling the issue. Sam, who works with management, approached me with a respectful attitude and a professional demeanor. We mutually agreed on what the best option would be. I walked out of the business feeling very content with how I was treated by the staff. Thank you for your speedy response and for addressing the matter in such a courteous way.

2019-10-03I graduated several months ago my experience there was great it had its moments. I was kind and friendly to many just so that my time will go fast and that it did. I had my shares with the teacher but over all learning experinece that I can talk about to others. Mainly focusing on the admissions department she was very kind she made me comfortable my first day to find about the school I got so comfortable and joined and graduated thanks to her I have a cosmetology license and not just a nail license if you wanna sign up go speak to Eileen very nice young women !

2021-08-10If I could give negative I would. My bfs daughter attends the school if you could even call it that, besides being ignored by teachers when asking for help during class or sending emails and never getting a reply. There is no option for inschool classes in Bronx area but in Brooklyn there is yet you pay the same for half the education. Shes been having substitute teachers everyday now so no consistency. Such a scam of an education

2019-10-03I worked in this school for a year as a front desk receptionist. My experience working for the school wasn’t bad, like every company in the world there is always room for improvement. Working side by side with Eileen (admissions rep) was a great learning experience, She taught me how to communicate with inquiring students, the different programs the school has to offer, she has a passion for what she does, and can really relate one on one with students being that she is also studying the art of cosmetology, she puts in the effort helping students overcome any obstacles they may have so that they graduate. The teachers all have lots of knowledge in the field and take their time to educate and make sure the students become licensed cosmetologist, which is great because over all that is the goal.

2019-10-22I was attending this school about a year ago, although i did not finish, i have to say my best experience was with Eileen. Eileen was very helpful, she was great at giving advice and information about pretty much anything. I was going through many rough times and she always encouraged me to keep focus, although i had some issues with people and teachers in the school she made me feel better about all situations. She gave me tons of information when i first came into the school inquiring about the program, she was actually the reason i started the program. I had some issues there that made me feel uncomfortable to continue, but Eileen didnt give up on me. I actually look forward to going back when things get a bit eaiser in my personal life, if anyone is interested in this program i suggest you speak to her and she will have all the information you need.

2019-10-03I am a former student and graduate of Brittany Beauty Academy. My experience there was eye opening and wonderful. I met alot of amazing people who helped me get through everything with no problem. It all started when i walked in and sat down with their wonderful and beyond helpful admissions rep Eileen. Her along side Liz Cuevas helped me get through the enrollment process which was a little diffcult do to my past with another school. Even while waiting to see if i got accepted, they stayed in touch with me to make sure i knew what was going on. While attending, like everyone does, i was going though alot. The staff there made sure i stayed on top of my work and focused on passing. Mr. Vincent, the owner, is very pleasant and always available when needed even if it is just to chat and clear your mind. The teachers and the director Ms. Melissa show that they only have your very best interest at heart. Overall they made my experience here more then i had expected. I learned way more about the beauty industry then i knew while growing up doing my hair and make up. I am now a licensed cosmetologist and could not be happier. This is by far my best and most proud accomplishment and honestly it would not have been able to happen without the help and support of everyone at Brittany Beauty. Thank you to everyone who took the time out to help me even with the tiniest thing i needed it.
