Where do I start. Was there for bike week, and really didnt expect a five star hotel, as I was a housekeeping manager...well, needless to say, the room was dirty...hair on the shower wall, toilet not cleaned properly, thick dust on window sill, broken patio door, beds were hard as a brick, and front desk is quite rude. And the mini fridge was also dirty. Part of housekeeping is to clean the room properly, and this wasnt it. The only way I knew there were housekeepers around was by the towels and carts, no identification or uniform, and they left doors wide open upon entering a room. Will not be staying here again.
Decently priced and location to the Bay is great. Good size room and the pool is heated and well maintained. My friends room could have been cleaner..but the manager .Demi...was right on it. Whatever they are paying her...they should give her a raise.
We booked here on a whim but have stayed at Capt. Thomson’s numerous times and never had an issue. When we first walked in, We were impressed with the size of the room and how nice it all looked. Things quickly changed when we took off our sandals and walked around. The floors were filthy with sand and food crumbs. The bathroom curtain had red mold growing up the bottom as well as had grass on it. There were dead flies and bees in the windowsill. The bed skirt was lopsided and looked like it was just thrown on. There were people smoking in front of their rooms when there are signs posted saying smoking in designated areas. I went into the office to ask them to address the smoking. She came out and the people just blew her off. We asked that housekeeping come in and clean and it looked like nothing had been done except a new shower curtain. The beds are extremely uncomfortable - hard and squeaky. Quiet time is 10-9 but with the walls being so thin you could hear every single thing going on in the next room. We could make out the conversation they were having as well as being woken up by their blow dryer. By the time our trip was over, we couldn’t wait to get out of there. When I asked to speak with a manager or owner, she told me to write a review online and he would see it. Well here it is! What a terrible attitude! DO NOT STAY HERE!
The room we had first was very clean and the staff was very nice . The second room the floor was gritty and so dirty our feet were black . If I had children the room with two full beds would be way too small. The smaller room had very thin curtains which , for me , makes sleeping difficult . I would suggest having a shelf in the bathroom . There’s is absolutely no place to put anything except the back of the toilet or window sill . We asked to be moved to another room and had no problems doing so. The other room was much larger and other than the floor it was excellent . The pool was also very clean and the fresh coffee in the morning was appreciated. It is conveniently located and I think if these things were attended to it would be a great choice .

Nice rooms. Stayed 2 nights cleaning staff clean up after first night real good. No stupid rules. Pool was clean. 4 feet deep. Air-conditioning rooms with modern controls, worked the way they are supposed to.Picnic table and other out side chairs conveniently around.Outside area was clean. Help was friendly. Reasonable price.
Its not the best place to stay. The room wasnt clean, the floor was dusty. In addition, the curtains were not opaque, and light came in the morning.Other guest were so noisy with their motorcycles, and the inn guys do nothing when we asked them to.
Nice efficient rentals. Property was clean and presentable. Room was in good condition and clean upon arrival. Staff was polite and courteous. Good location close to the downtown bar district. Has a boat launch... Do be aware youll need a LOW boat (bass boat or something that sits 3 or lower) to get from the launch under the bridges to the Bay. Had a nice stay overall. Bed could have been more comfortable, though.
The location was great, everything was a five to ten minute drive away. The rooms were clean and the paint job was excellent. All the edges were perfect. The pool was nice and there was plenty of soap and amenities to suit my family including coffee and tea. There is a great breakfast and lunch plus dinner place pretty much on the hotel property so its not even a two minute walk. My four day stay was great.
This was a fun place to spend the weekend. If needed and asked they would get it for you. Check out time at most motels is 11am. Well here you are not rushed to leave. I will for sure go there again. And you should too.

Pool was great. Room ok. Guests in next room were partying till after midnight and then back up at 630 am, very thin walls, heard every word and what was going on. Mentioned to office in morning to young woman, didnt seem to care.. so we left by 830 with not much sleep and we had our grandchildren with us. I have never experienced anything like that in the past 40 years.
Great place. Close to the village. Easy check in. Rooms are remodeled as of 5/23/21. Grassy areas with horseshoe 🧲 pit. Staff was pleasant. Would stay again
3 stars on day 2. After a rough first night without the cribs we requested, we endured a few hours of sleep, got breakfast, and by the time we returned, the hotel GM put us into another room. They acquired a pack and play, and gave us a room with a tub (the first room had a shower), and we are now putting the girls down for a quiet nap. They have a clean pool and hot showers and clean sheets. The people who work here are clearly proud of their efforts, and its starting to show.Day 4, and we are really impressed with how the staff went out of their way to help us. In our new room, we noticed that it was recently remodeled and very clean. The bathroom was much larger too! Our twins were able to sleep quite well each night since the rooms were really well soundproofed and the air conditioner was loud enough to drown out parties over pirate weekend. Great time and a great place.
We reserved 2 rooms over the phone. We asked for the escape package for both rooms. I called a total of 4 times. One to reserve and 3 to verify that the escape package and room was one set upon arrival we were told otherwise. We couldnt go anywhere else because refunds arent given on reservations. We were told no smoking in the room. Not a problem. But were never told that there was a specific spot to smoke. Housekeeping was awesome! The rest Id give a negative if allowed.
It was a nice place to rest our heads. there was no offer of continental breakfast and no coffee pie in the room so that was difficult for myself. I need my coffee in the morning . The room was clean and everything worked as expected.
The room had zero places to hang anything except for the shower rod. The bathroom door didnt close all the way and squeaked very loudly. The AC was struggling even though it was only in the high 70s. TV remote was non functional and all the service was blurry. There was about a dozen mosquitoes in the room upon our arrival. Could have been better for the price.
I called three times before my trip to make sure of everything that we paid for was gonna be in the trip. We got there and it was gonna be $300 more per room. And they did not make it right. The lady at the front just said it was that amount or to take it off. So we didnt have everything included like we were told. There was no coffee maker in our rooms.. there was little space to put anything down.. the staff were not exactly all that nice. I traveled 2 hours to take a nice vacation with my family to be stressed out and upset.i wanted to check out this morning so my family and I could go to a car show.. but nobody was at the lobby and had to wait 20 minutes to check out..
My poor mother booked a room for the weekend at this hotel, she had to change rooms not once, not twice but three times. The first room there was no hot water (they couldnt fix it because the hardware store was closed), they told my mother they had another room but gave it away to someone else. They were then shown room number two, which did not have a tub and had a terrible smell. Finally she was given a room late in the day. When she asked if the hotel would be accommodating and make the situation right, they said there was nothing more they could do. She wont be staying there again. The hotel could have at least given her a discount for all her trouble.
The hotel obviously went through renovations recently. Room was clean and cosy. However, we had a larger one (with the patio), smaller ones looked a bit claustrophobic.Why four stars? One important item was missing in the room (no, its not a microwave, thats not included originally). We didnt have a door tag! Resulted in a made badging in at 9am first, and cleaning the room later when we were gone. I dont like having room service if Im staying for less than a week. Alas, I had no say on that, because I didnt have a simple do not disturb tag provided.Totally love the idea of good service but dont appreciate it when this service is being forsed on me.
Great location within walking distance of town and attractions. Super clean room! Pergo flooring. Lots of towels. AC working, mini fridge in room. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely go back again.

Alicia was outstanding! She attended to every detail and need of our arrangements for accomodations for our family reunion last July. We reserved 8 rooms which were very comfortable. She made sure each room was suited to the type of room requested (from age 90yrs). Even though the motel does not include breakfast, Alicia allowed us, and even had an area in the backyard set up for us, to gather so we could supply a continental breakfast for our family, including those who were camping nearby. This was a perfect location. It was quiet and convenient, a short walk to the Bay. There is a very good restaurant next door which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All of the help was very friendly at Capts Inn and Suites! We will definitely return!
Though the overall experience was nice, there were a few disappointments. First, the bed as so soft, like sleeping on a marshmallow. Second, for the price you pay one would expect nicer finishings in the room. Third, the drapes did not cover the window. Finally, there was no way to make hot water in the room for tea and there was rarely hot water available in the office area that you had to walk to in a dimly lit driveway.
Not happy with this place. Although the room was comfortable, there were no outlets near the beds for cell phone chargers, hot water was not very hot, other than the pool there were no eminities offered except ice machines and a soda vending machine which was empty. We couldnt park in front of our room because it was marked no parking along the whole side. There is no continental breakfast and no coffee in the rooms. I will not recommend this place to anyone.
The room was nice, but the bed was so soft you sunk in and wanted to roll to the center. Not good at all for a bad back.
Excellent service, our AC broke in the middle of the night and my husband told the housekeeper in the morning, they installed a brand new unit within 2 hours. Rooms are very clean, pool is nice and people were great. No complaints whats so ever
Didnt get room serviced and people smoking all around us so you could not sit outside. Wont stay here again. Shower curtain to short so water went out on floor.
It was a very quiet stay one of the best places that I have stayed at. It was very clean that was very comfortable the service all the way around was very good.
Clean, quiet, economical. Dont expect 5 star, but the facility is well maintained and operated, rooms were modernized and clean, and the service was excellent. A comfortable walking distance from downtown, essentials shopping directly across the street, as well as dining options including a diner directly adjacent to the motel itself.
About ten minutes after settling into our room after a four hour drive, we were kicked out of our room by maintenance staff because of black mold in the bathroom. There is no communication between maintenance and the front of house operations. The older woman in the office was incredibly rude and unapologetic, she acted like she was doing us a favor by trying to find us a new room. I asked what kind of discount would be offered to us for the inconvenience, she scoffed and said none, only the manager could do that and she was in Syracuse. Someone so inhospitable does not belong in the hospitality industry. Our new room had no deck, no peephole, nowhere to sit.They are located the farthest away from the downtown area and there’s no Uber or Lyft in this town.They swore up and down there is no smoking allowed on premises but people still smoked outside their rooms.The layout of the motel is awkward and it’s across the street from a funeral home.Stay away!!!
Great place to stay if youre in A-bay. Really nice clean rooms, the pool is nice (if its hot out) and there is open green space and a gazebo to relax in if you have time to relax. 5/5 stars would book again.
The place was immaculate.Could have eaten off the floors.Bed was comfortable and expensive sheets and down comforter made sleeping a dream. Large shower and forceful water pressure.had shampoo, conditioner and body wash supplied.Fluffy towels.evidently remodeled recently because it was so neat and clean..
Stayed two nights in the two bedroom suite. One king size bed, the other is a full bed, not a queen, which was more than dissapointing. The bed makes a horribly loud noise when anyone moves around on it. Otherwise comfortable and clean, however, don’t try to check in a minute before 3:00pm!
I am very happy with the room and I see value for the money I spent on it.If I visit plan to visit Thousand Islands again, Captains Inn will be my first choice.
Very clean and quiet. The staff were very attentive. Loved that they had a boat launch right at the hotel, so we could go out into the river without ever leaving out hotel!
Its a clean motel with basic needs they do have free fresh coffee in office. The staff is super friendly. Plenty of clean towels and shampoo and body washes but the mattress was very uncomfortable.

Alex bay is a great vacation place. This motel was next to a grave yard and funeral home. Some sheets were dirty and there were holes in the walls, curtains, and doors. Service was poor. Newer rooms were renovated recently which was appreciated but there was still holes in the curtains
Dirty rooms. Stains on carpet. Mold growing on bathroom floor next to shower. There was old coffee that had mold floating on top in the coffee pot. The pool was closed so kids couldnt use it.Staff was rude. I dont know how this place is open!! Will not go back!!

I chose this hotel because of its location. It is close to Uncle Sams Boat Tours and lots of restaurants. The room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the bathroom is very small and could use an update.
Very disappointed in our room. Service while we were out could have been better. Pictures didnt look like what we got, no coffee in rooms, no closets. The sheets dont stay on the bed due to a plastic sheet under it which makes it slip off the corners. WOULD NOT STSY HERE AGAIN!!!
Where to begin 1. The walls a re so thin we could hear people whispering. 2. There is no cable like it advertises. 3. The people were rowdy next to us and never were silent during night time hours. There is so much more wrong about this place that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND not going to this place.
Rooms are small and internet is really annoying relative to connectivity. A real pain especially if you are on line with anything important to do.

Really nice, newly remodeled place. We enjoyed our stay very much. Location is perfect to enjoy Alex Bay without the loud night life of the bars with many amenities nearby.
The visit was very nice. The room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of fresh towels and samples of shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body wash was a nice touch.
Asked for and reserved a room with queen bed several weeks ahead of time and upon arrival got a double bed in room 206. Went to desk to ask for the room with a queen and was told “that bed is a queen “. Measured 54” across makes that a double bed. Please don’t tell folks one thing then give them something else.

Room service was never done, cleaners were fooling around in the parking lot and almost hit our car, yelling in the parking lot and once we got our towels they knocked and ran.
Fantastic staff, clean updated rooms, excellent pool and nearby to all attractions! They even have a boat launch and restaurant on site. I highly recommend this place!

Came to Alexandria Bay for a bike rally. Hotel was great for parking the bikes. Close enough to the action to walk, but far enough away not to be bothered by the bands.

2022-06-21Very friendly and helpful Riley at the front desk. Arrived at 10am, our room was ready and we were given the keys. Our room was very clean, quiet and close to many tourist attractions. Captains Inn and Suites, Captain Thomsons Resort on the water in A Bay and Uncle Sams Boat Tours are all owned by the same company and its reflected in the cleanliness of the properties and friendliness of their staff.

2022-07-02I loved it here. You can tell it’s an old building but they have kept up with the appearance and it’s so cute! Our room was clean and gorgeous. 10 mins walk to downtown, very convenient location to stay.

2022-06-29Our room was dirty ! Did not feel comfortable walking barefooted! It also smelled like an ash tray! This is a non smoking facility!!! We left after the first night and went elsewhere!

2021-09-06I was blown away by what was presented. The staff at the counter were so kind and friendly. The rooms were VERY clean and well taken care of, especially for a motel. The other guest were very pleasant. Nothing out of the ordinary what so ever. The pool was so nice to swim in and it was clean. There is a restaurant right next door for breakfast and lunch and it’s very affordable. The drive inns are right down the road too. They even have a dock for you to place your boat. I will be staying here again for sure.

2021-10-22Checked into a 2 double beds room across from the pool. The beds are so bad that its squeaky just sitting on the bed, keeping us up all night when any of us moved. Next room is so loud too. Reception in the after is not so friendly. Coffee in the morning isnt bad. The only thing good is the water pressure in the shower, nice consistent warm water.

2021-07-26This felt like my home away from home. It was comfortable, clean and tidy. The prices were great. Very convenient location and a short drive to the Alex Bay shops. You are in walking distance to a diner and a laundromat. Crystal, front desk staff, was professional and funny when we checked in. Even though is was a busy day, she greeted us with a smile and made checking in easy and fast. Everything was great and I would stay here again.

2021-07-22Local hotels were sold out. This is a decent basic motel. Nice king bed, but there was always a musty smell like the A/C couldnt get the humidity out of the air. The outdoor pool was popular. Front desk staff was not friendly and they were gone (door locked) when we checked out at 10:15am on a Tuesday morning. Probably wont stay here again.

2021-08-22After our air bnb fell through we were stuck looking for a place to stay. I saw that this place had been recently renovated and just stopped in, they were able to accommodate us that day and we’re super friendly. There were soaps and fresh towels in the bathroom and extra soaps set up in the room. There’s and desk and mini fridge with WiFi. HUGE clean bathroom. I was really blown away with how clean and nice this motel was finding it last minute. Staff was really nice and even let us change in the office bathroom while our room was still getting ready and we were wet from paddle boarding. If you’re here to sleep and keep your stuff while you explore the area it’s perfect. My only critique would be they need to change to real shower curtains ( the fabric one just ain’t it) and I do wish there was a microwave. Another than that this place it great and I would DEFINITELY come back.

2020-10-11Room 126 was a beautifully remodeled room. All new! This is a no frills, perfect place to stay. New wood/vinyl flooring, paint, and decor... no dirty carpet (thank you)! Our bed was super comfortable, the water was HOT and there was excellent water pressure. The toilet was clean, sanitized and they place a tamper proof label on it so you know it hasnt been used since the last time is was cleaned. Great place to stay. Good value. Walking distance from downtown (exactly 0.5 mile walk). We were reluctant to book a motel but we are glad we did. This place truly exceeded our expectations. If I had to find one thing that we would have liked to see, it would simply be the addition of a shelf in the bathroom to place some personal items... and a chair in the main room. But thats it! Clean, clean, clean... friendly staff, good location and good value is what you should take away from this review!
