We are new to Casella when our service was turned over to them when Alternative Waste went out of business. I paid my 1st bill over the phone with customer service. At that time I set up a recurring payment every 3 months. The very next month I was again charged on my card. The person I talked to was very helpful and pleasant. She stopped my recurring payment as I asked. She credited my account which she said would take 4-5 weeks which is unacceptable. Also showing up on my account was a invoice for $70 for a date in 2018 and for a different service location. I could not see anything about my service location. The only thing they could tell me is someone else must have had the same customer account number in the past. This placed is screwed up. I am now waiting for a call back with a full explanation.
Trying to get in contact with them is insanely difficult. Theyll answer emails but not conduct any business that way, try to call them and they never answer. When they do answer they hang up on you before you even say hi. Every time I call Im on hold for at least 10 minutes and then they disconnect the phone
Absolutely terrible service, has taken over 3 weeks to even get a dumpster at my residence. And have yet to have one delivered, they were right on time to bill though. Always an excuse, or someone elses fault. Anyone know of a true garbage removal company, because cassella is an absolute waste of time. I would never recommend Casella to anyone and never will.
NO STARS! They did not pick up my trash one week with no explanation. So, beginning the following week, I did not bother putting it out, and have not since. A little while later, I start getting calls about my bill being past due! I told the rep that my trash was not picked up, to which she replied that the was no note from the pickup guy- only a note referring to the week where I did not put my trash out. She refused to believe that their worker could have skipped my house and not noted it. Now you would think (if you were an actual logical person) that it would make sense for me not to put anything out following a week where it had been left for no apparent reason. Evidently I am lying, and the service there is beyond reliable. The next call from them- the note about my trash not being put out or picked up has miraculously vanished, and even though I have cancelled my account- they still think I should pay them for the month and a half when I did not receive service! And to top it off, I have been hearing that this is a pretty common occurrence with this company! Do yourself a favor- take you trash to the waste center, or choose another company! Unless you like headaches, hassles, and unreliable service.
Called company requesting they pick up a garbage bin that was sitting on side of road in front of my house for weeks; that never happened. Decided to do it myself and utilize their service for a month as I had a project I was working on slowly and it would be easier to discard trash over a month with this bin. I requested one month of service and prepaid for that service, this was in June into July. I received 4 weeks of pick up as requested. Bin has been sitting in my driveway since and I have been meaning to call for removal (that is my fault) I received a call today from a not so pleasant woman demanding payment for $125 for my service for the month of July, August and September. I explained I was specific in my request that I wanted 1 month only but apparently have been being billed. She proceeded to tell me that the driver HAS been picking up my trash (I have cardinal disposal for my regular trash pick up) I told her that is 100% not true. The bin is empty, in my driveway and has not been moved to the road since the initial 4 week period. She blamed me and said I was at fault here. Her actual words were you dont understand, you did not contact us and will pay Customer care is now investigating and will get back to me on Monday. I have compiled a complete list of home security cameras footage showing the driver arriving at my neighbors house (every Tuesday) not mine and not once picking up my trash. I was also told by initial rep that the driver HAS documented they picked up my trash (flat out lie if uts true and can be verified). My normal trash gets picked up on Thursday btw. Furthermore, they stated I called into their office in September to put my service on seasonal suspension. I was out of the country when I supposedly called in. I am furious at the initial rep and her full on finger pointing that I have done something almost criminal. I have 100% proof as I have explained and am having a hard time waiting for this to be resolved. This should NOT be an issue. Be very careful with this company if you do cancel or use them seasonally poor/inadequate record keeping. Furthermore, they say they picked up trash every tuesday but do not have a record of my specifi request for 1 month of service only! Sorry so long...... I am irrate over this, Im also not done complaining.
Did not show up for trash pickup for 2 consecutive weeks after I activated my account. I spoke with customer service DAILY after missed pickups and was never called back, and they refused to send someone out early to pick up my accumulating garbage.I cancelled my account (and now have a bunch of useless trash tags...) and switched to AWS. They agreed to go out of their way and pick up my trash the next business day.What a joke.
Since they took over for AWS they skip my house sometimes, I call, they contact the driver who claims I didnt put the trash out or they are still on their way, etc. Im not paying a company that I have to call and remind to do what theyre paid to do. Switching my service to another company so I dont have to spend my time on this anymore.
Im surprised at all the low reviews. I had Casella for two years in Ithaca and I think they only missed my pick up one time. I called customer service and someone came by later that day. Id call that a pretty good track record. Everything was always picked up, and trash cans set upside down well away from the road.
I set up service with this company for weekly trash pickup. The FIRST week of my service on pickup day they were a no show. I called, was told I would get a call back. I did not. I called again, was told the driver said my can was not out on time. This was a bold faced lie as my can was out the night before pickup as instructed. DO NOT use this company!!
Here I paid a full yr. for garbage service and Casella never picked up my garbage 4 times in 2014. Then in 2015 they went 3 wks. in a row (possibly longer next week will show) and they never picked up the garbage but they drove down the road passed my home. Another week they left a neighborsbag of garbage sitting right in the middle of the road. I let them know about the bag of trash in the road but they never came back to get it. All of this has been going on for no reason. I have reported all of this matter to Casella Waste in Vt. but nothing has been getting done except keeping track of my phone calls.
This place is by far the worse trash removal around! From not having my trash picked up, and hearing oh hes new, he will come back out. They say u need to have a TAG on EACH BAG in the trashcan...but the lazy workers on the truck dont even lift out each bag to see if theres a tag! How are u suppose to see the tags on the bags underneath eachother!?! What they do is see if the trashcan as a whole is heavy...and if it feels like its over 40lbs...they just dont take it and leave that stupid pink slip saying its to heavy to life. Well maybe if ur morons lifted each bag out one at a time, like ur suppose to do it wldnt be so heavy. This place is pathetic. No wonder all the reviews are bad!
All the times Ive been there 25+ this year alone. Never once did they have me weighed in and out in a timely manner. Maybe once I was given an apology for the wait. This last time I was there I waited on the scale for about 10 minutes and even longer on my out weight. Not satisfied whats so ever.
Have been working with Casella for over 15 years , they are very prompt and professional when they provide service for our business and they pay very quick when we do projects for them . Very well locally managed company in my opinion .Schimmel and sons building and maintenance .
These people poison our soil and water like its their job (Google it!), accept radioactive liquid fracking waste from PA and dump it in NY landfills, have been sued by about every jurisdiction they operate in, and had to pay restitution to the state of NY for taking customers recycling and dumping it in a landfill. They were also paid by the state of NY to respectfully incinerate 9/11 flags and unceremoniously dumped them in a landfill instead. I feel dirty for having been a customer for this long, cancelling my service tomorrow!

2022-07-15Non-existent customer service. always late for trash pickup. Our dumpsters at our business are constantly overflowing and we never get noticed or notification that pickup will be late or not happen at all certain weeks. When we try and call end up on hold for 20 minutes or more every time. I would give zero Stars if that was a possibility. If there was any other company that we could use for our businesss trash removal we would leave Casella instantly. Such a shame that when you have no competition customer service does not matter and these reviews dont mean a thing. as soon as there is another trash removal option we will go with it.

2022-04-28I have used this company for over ten years at three different locations surrounding the Ithaca area. Recommended them to others, I actually appreciated them to the extent of buying the drivers gifts each year for the holidays. I never had a problem with them untill recent. My garbage was missed 6 weeks in a row total, Multiple pick up days changed, And more Excuses. I was also told the route comes at 3:45 in the morning is why my garbage wasnt being picked up, (when I have never seen them come once ever before 11). Claiming they had photo proof of my garbage not being out but my cameras shows otherwise. Being told I would have someone call me back and never did. And continuing to charge me even after canceling my service over the phone and in person. Extremely unprofessional. Go with Taylor garbage and save yourselfthe headake.

2022-04-13Worst company I have ever dealt with. Didnt pick up my trash for 2 months and after calling them got transferred to 5 different people who all called me a liar and said I needed to provide proof and that they didnt believe me.They then missed picking up my trash for ANOTHER month and I showed them pictures and they said they could only credit me for 2 weeks even though they missed a month and I had to pay for dump fees.Do not recommend them at all - they dont care at all about people they just want money.

2022-07-15Horrible service. Horrible inconsistent pickup.. ALWAYS late to pick up our trash and recycling out dumpsters overflowing and we can NEVER get ahold of anyone for customer service. If there was any other trash removal service we would change. Guess you can afford to offer terrible service when you are the only provider in the area.

2020-03-17This is what it looks like after casella provided their service.After two inquiries. half a day apart, they have the audacity to tell me that the bin was already emptied when I was staring right at the bin the whole day I was at work. There was no notice of the service being late. But apparently now they want to do it tomorrow. Dont bother with this company.

2021-12-29Not worth one star. They did property damage, 1st excuse dumpster in a S#!++¥ spot, they put it there and been there for 3 yrs! 2nd excuse they dont like residential dumpsters, then why am I paying you? They did send someone to fix it but was clear they dont respect or want their customers, just their $$. Now we are 6 weeks with no service. 3 pickups missed. Call and just get excuses and false promises. They said dumpster not accessible from snow, we havent had more than a 1/2 of snow and none on their pickup dates. Lies! No drivers, training drivers, slow drivers. Told it would be picked up on three other makeup dates and nothing! They cant even swap around routes to pick up 1/2 the time. Poor management. They have no communication when the change pickup dates, dont call if they cant pickup (because of snow that doesnt exist), saying they will call at 8am and they dont call nor pick up. Been patient, but they will lie, give excuses or ignore you. hey will lie, give excuses or ignore you.

2021-10-26My garbage/recycling bin is consistently thrown into the middle of my driveway at the end near the street so I have to quickly get out of my car in the middle of the road to move the bin in order to pull into my driveway or drive past and pull over to then go move the bin. The trucks seem to also decide what days they will take all of my recycling and throw the rest into my yard. Very dissatisfied with this service.

2021-12-09I would characterize Casella as vandalism rather than service. I kept a lid bungied to my garbage can - easily unhooked to dump the garbage - and never had a problem until Casella bought out and took over our previous service provider. Since then, bungies have been destroyed or disappeared and then lids disappeared and damaged too. Finally canceled their “service”.

2021-02-02Unfortunately, we were sold to this company when AWS went out of business. We normally get our 2 yard dumpster dumped every Tuesday. This week they never showed up. I called on Wednesday and the woman asked can it wait until next week? I mean, yeah it would be overflowing, but I pay for weekly service. So will you take less of a payment for not performing the service as paid? She said she would call me back that day. Never recieved a phone call. I called again on Thursday, and the woman said I was on the schedule for that day. Never got dumped. Its now Friday and I called again to see what was going on. I requested a credit on my account because they ignored my service. She said she put in the request for a credit on my account and would also see about getting our dumpster dumped and would call me back before lunch time. I doubt itll happen because they dont ever seem to follow through with the call backs. If they continue to ignore my service, then I guess ill ignore the bills they send me.Edited to add: they never showed up all week to dump the dumpster. Also never received a call back as promised on 3 different occasions by 3 different people. Its now the following Tuesday. Again a no show and we have an overfull dumpster. Called and was promised a call back. Never got a return call. And a credit for last week was never added to the bill. Im refusing to pay the bill until they perform the service they were contracted to do.
