I only live 4 miles for the castles and have pass by many of times wondering what it must be like to live there. well, the Helderberg Hilltowns Association put on a tours this pass weekend and the owner (Tom Breitenbach) was nice enough to add his home to the tour. i knew nothing about the castle but was excited to go. we were greeted by his wife Deb with smiles and right off the bat made us felt like old friends. she was so kind and told us about their history and plans to make the property into a museum. after walking the beautiful peaceful grounds we met Tom inside his art studio was blown away by his art work. we didnt except the quality and creativity that was on display. to learn how a young man had a dream to build his own castle and did so by quarrying stones and lumber from his own land. forging leaded-glass windows and iron hardware from his own black smith shop. making his own furniture and title and more was truly amazing. what a pleasure it was to talk with Tom and im so grateful that his open his home and studio to the public. it is so nice to know we have neighbors like the Breitenbachs.

When my husband and I were looking for a different wedding venue that no one heard of we searched high and low. We spoke to a different venue in Bolton Landing that was a castle however he couldnt accommodate the amount of guests that we had. So he said he had a friend who owned a castle (dont we all?) so we contacted Thom the owner who was very accommodating to meet and show us the property, which is absolutely mind blowing he is not only an amazing artist but he also has built this castle from the ground up taking the rock from the property. Listening to his story is intriguing looking at his art unbelievable. We planned a surprise wedding so going there and planning logistics out took 2 years no matter what time we reached out even if it was 30 minutes before going there he never said no, even if he wasnt there. The property is endless so much space you could do so much with but leaving everything as is and letting the space speak for itself. We had gone there just to walk around the property had a couple glasses of wine sitting by the pond talking about how the day was going to go. No bad things to say. A huge thank you to the Breitenbachs for allowing us to host our big day!

Went here for a wedding. The venue was very unique. The owner and artist of the property was friendly and welcoming. Very unique to see his artwork and studio. Beautiful grounds surrounded by nature and trails. I can’t wait to see the wedding photos because I am sure they will be stunning!!!
