I loved this place. It was wonderful to walk around and the tour was a great way to see parts of the mansion you normally wouldnt. My review is slightly skewed, though. The staff were amazing, the sights and park were incredible. Unfortunately I would never come back here. Its a dog friendly park, which the people who frequent here think that means leashes arent necessary. I packed a nice lunch as the staff told me it would be a nice place to have a picnic. It would be, with a fantastic view to boot, except for the people who ruin it.After sitting down and placing our food out, one owner with zero control over his dog allowed his dog to run up to us and start rummaging through our food. No apologies at all from him and I am pretty easy going. He told me that this was a dog park, which its not. After getting the mans dog under control myself, I gave the owner some of our food so he could use it to make the dog follow him.The entire time this was happening, my much larger dogs, were still in their places that we had put them in earlier.I love dogs and 90% of the people either respected the leash law or had control over their dogs without it. He took a wonderful day and ruined it. People like him are the reason that I understand most places arent dog friendly. If you go, dont bring food and watch your shoes because most people dont pick up after their dogs.
We were married at Coindre Hall over the summer and it was perfect. Our ceremony in front of the mansion gave guests a chance to enjoy the beautiful grounds before moving inside for the cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. The inside of the mansion is perfectly designed for a lovely flow allowing guests to explore from one room to the next as the evening unfolds. We loved that we were able to personalize the space with family photos and some of our own decorations. You could almost imagine what it would have been like to attend a party there in the 1920s. The food was excellent, and the chef was able to accommodate the brides dietary restrictions without compromising on taste or creativity. In addition to being the perfect setting, Coindre Hall boasts a fantastic staff, particularly the maitre d John. Throughout planning, John was always available to answer questions or provide some helpful guidance. On the big day he kept everything moving at a perfect pace and always made sure that we had something to eat and drink. We used the house preferred vendors and were extremely pleased with them. All of our guests told us that it was one of the best weddings theyd ever attended. We had an absolute ball and are so thankful we chose Coindre Hall. We could not imagine a more perfect day.
This is the best dog park. I love bringing my dogs here, and on top of that, most owners are responsible. There are a few [ that few adds up throughout the week, though ] that either dont clean up their mess, or very very infrequently bring untrained dogs that get aggressive towards other dogs. Overall a gorgeous place and a dog lovers heaven.
I had my wedding just two days ago and I couldnt wait to write this. The place is just gorgeous and the wedding turned out exactly how I had planned. My biggest thanks is to John, the matre d. He was so responsive to my emails throughout the whole process. He also has many years of experience and he was so helpful and professional. I planned the whole wedding myself so I felt very grateful to have someone like him that I could trust. On the wedding day of, he ran around and made sure everything was placed correctly, guests were entertained, and it really gave me a peace of mind. I didnt have to worry much on my wedding day other than my vow.I love the venue. Coindre Hall reminds me of our vacation in Colmar, France. It has history, uniqueness, and a cozy feel. The guests were absolutely in love with the place. I didnt put in a photo booth, because why take pictures with fake background when you have a gorgeous castle like this one. Second, we picked this place because the venue only serves one wedding a day and we had the flexibility to time the wedding. Most of my guests have kids, so we wanted to come early and leave early. Most importantly, the venue has a huge parking lot next door, which makes it so convenient. We also had the ceremony outside the lawn. It was so quiet and romantic. We didnt even need a mic to speak our vows. During reading the vows, we had half the guests crying : )Going into the wedding planning process, I had a mindset that not everything will turn out the way it will go but I did make a few very good decisions that made the wedding as smooth as it was. And one of them was definitely picking this venue.Brides, if you are planning a wedding, please remember to have a open mind. Thats definitely helped me so much and things will work out in return. Happy Planning.
Went to Sweet 16 here. They broke a glass near serving bowls, then they used them anyway!!! My 5 year old ended up eating glass that was in her ice cream. Be careful because they hire unqualified staff. Been waiting to hear from insurance company for weeks now. My poor girl is scared to eat out now. Such a shame. I would not recommend using Lessings for the catering! Be very skeptical! If a problem arises, it will not be handled in the proper way and you will be left out in the cold. Just review their insurance company York Risk Services Group. Even though John is nice, it will be these people you deal with when/if something tragic happens and they are horrible!!! Best of Luck!
Its a scam of a place. They sell you on your dream wedding but in the end want your money. Do not believe them on your money back guarantee if you cancel outside of 6 months. The contract says 1 year and thats what they stick to. They are a bunch of liars and con artists. I will never recommend this place.
The best time Ive had with my dogs in a long time. I just realized there was a mini beach towards the back that my dogs loved and swam for hours. Other dogs were also in the water and playing with each other. It felt like a cute dog resort . I will be going there religiously from now on! I love that owners clean up after their dogs as well!
Hands down the best park for dogs I have ever been to. Owners are responsible and friendly; dogs are generally great but in those cases when someone is grumpy, owners jump right in. Massive, rolling hills for dogs to romp on that eventually lead down to harbor if your dog likes to swim.
I loved Coindre Hall dog park and brought my dog there all the time until a terrible incident today. I don’t know where else to post this, but want to make dog owners aware of a dangerous dog that I encountered there today. The dog is a bull mastif by the name of Bella. Her owner’s name is Margaret. The bull mastif attacked my dog today causing puncture wounds on his stomach, requiring staples. The woman had her dog off leash. I just want other dog owners to be aware because I don’t want this happening to another innocent dog.

2021-07-18I can’t say enough good things… sorry amazing things about the staff at Coindre Hall. John, our Maitre D’, was so helpful and addressed every concern we had. He literally did not leave our sides and made sure we had the most beautiful wedding. He went above and beyond to accommodate us and made it possible to have a our dogs involved in the wedding! Ps the dogs stole the show. We can’t rave enough about the staff as well. Never have I been to a wedding where the staff were this amazing. They all love their jobs and it showed in their service. Everyone told us the staff were friendly, helpful and caring. I really don’t need to review the actual building because its beauty should speak for itself. However, they recently finished the renovations on the groom and bridal suit which made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for a venue that will take care of you, you need to look no further. They have packages that refers specific photographers, DJs, etc and that is such a relief. We could not have been happier with their recommendations. I got married yesterday and did not want to wait to give my glowing reviews.

2021-09-24My nephew got married in the garden in front of the venue and had the reception inside. Very quaint castle style venue. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The food was great. Several of us agreed the appetizers were better than the plated dinner although we had a choice of 3 entrees. Two negative the dance floor was in a separate room adjacent to the dining hall so you had to get up to join the party and there were no seats available in that area so if you had any physical limitations or were a senior it was quite uncomfortable. So having to sit at the table caused you miss out on most of the festivities. The other negative is that there was only two single stall bathrooms on the event level one for Men, one for Women. We had a great experience and a good time.

2019-08-28Great place to let the dog hike or walk around. There is water on the north side of the property if you want to let your dog swim. Huge field for a picnic and trails throughout the property

2021-10-11We had the most perfect wedding at Coindre Hall! We had our wedding in August 2021- we were looking for a venue that was unique and wasnt a typical country club or banquet hall, but that was also still affordable for Long Island. We loved the idea of an old mansion / castle type of venue. Coindre Hall is a hidden gem! A huge part of why our wedding day was so perfect was because of John, the maître d- he truly goes above and beyond. We live in Boston, so John was super flexible about working with our schedules during the wedding planning, and he allowed us to come see the venue with family multiple times before our wedding day, always patiently answering all of our questions and talking us through everything. He was always super responsive over email as well. The day of the wedding, the weather was touch and go, but John allowed us to make the final call to have the ceremony outdoors, and it thankfully ended up being perfect. And if the dancing and dining being in different rooms during the reception makes you worried that no one will dance- dont worry! John and our band were excellent about ushering people into the dancing room. Coindre Hall is run by Lessings, so the food and service was excellent as well. You are in amazing hands with John and the Coindre Hall staff!

2021-01-16Ive never been inside the hall, but I do plan on taking one of their tours. Ive been coming here for years, its one of my favorite spots to hike or just sit in my car to eat lunch. Its mostly used as a dog park, and people are generally pretty good about picking up after their dogs. Beautiful views, and interesting finds hiking in the woods!

2022-03-16A great place to have a wedding. The hall itself was constructed a hundred years ago...a time when people actually cared about how something looked when they built it.

2021-06-03What a beautiful place on the outside! Could use some flower plantings, more than they have. Back parking lot is treacherous. If I were attending a wedding, valet parking is a must if you want to avoid a broken ankle! The back view of the hall is lovely. Many, many people bring their dogs to run on the grass. We visit here once a week and rarely and I mean rarely are any of these dogs leashed.

2021-10-02I’ve loved walking my fur babies here for over 30 yrs. when not crowded I let my dog run , well trained doesn’t bite! Watch out for public safety dog cops tho. Nothing mentioned about all the litter in Huntington parks but want to fine you $250 for dog off leash??? Priority’s mixed up??
