What should I say about Clay? They stay open late, like 2 am. We came from Staten Island, NY, and we called one of our guys. He told us about Clay. We went there two nights in a row. The food is fantastic, especially all the kabab. If you like spice, medium, or mild, Clay is for you.
The food, atmosphere, and customer service here is top notch! The attention to detail in the decorations and the way they serve the food in the clay pots is amazing. A very unique experience! We have eaten at a lot of restaurants in the Buffalo area, and this one is ranked among my favorites for sure. I will be dreaming about the Malai Kofta for the next month, at least 😋
Excellent food and service!!! So so happy with Clay Handi - such delicious food (so authentically Pakistani) and the restaurant boasts great representation of Pakistani culture as well through clay pots (handis). Such courteous and friendly staff and co-owners as well. 100% recommend Clay Handi for feel good and scrumptious Pakistani food! You will love it!!!
Very delicious authentic desi food! All ingredients tasted fresh. Presentation is unique and gels in well with the desi environment.Customer service is also very attentive and pleasant. Special mention to Nazia, the owner who saw us with our 3 month old and held her for the whole time till we finished the meal.Wish they open a branch close to us in Pittsburgh, PA.Well always stop by whenever well visit Niagara again.
Food was exceptional in taste. The appetizers (chicken 65 and lamb seekh kabab) had good quantity and were flavourful. The Chicken Achari Gosht curry was cooked perfectly, along with the Mutton daal Gosht. The mango lassi was served in a clay pot and sufficed for two rounds. The service couldve been improved, however I visited this place on Eid and that can be a reason owing to slow servers, as they were short-staffed.
My wife and I have several Pakistani friends, and they all recommended this place when we said we were going to be in Buffalo. According to our friends, this is some of the best, and most authentic, Pakistani food anywhere. Wow, were they right. This in an incredibly good place to eat. The spices are used in a complex, savory way, very interesting to the palate. Even the basmati rice is spiced with star anise and cinnamon. The clay pot cooking process is not super fast, but so worth waiting for. Nazia apologized for the brief wait, but the food and service were so great that again, it was worth a few extra minutes. Thank you Nazia and Clay Handi!
Rip off they blame their cooks for not making the food same way they made or served it before have a look below. Some guy answers the phone and gives a bunch of excuses no resolution just a bunch of apologizing like today’s customer service when you have to call someone. Good food but a rip off. So for $30 you be the judge why wouldn’t you want it the same way
The start 2 star’s I gave is one for their interior & another for their chai & the side service pickles, chatni they serve. That’s what I like. The most disappointing thing was service. They should work on it that’s my suggestion. Foods were just not up to the mark specially the soup. Very disappointing. Proportion was not good for price. Foods were overpriced. Not happy 😔 with the food or service. The Pakistani old lady was really good though.
The ultimate experience to have Desi Indo-Pakistani food!!! The best of its kind we have tried so far.. it is beautifully decorated and gives one an authentic cultural experience. The place is full of surprises! They serve you in literal clay pots and get you started with some salad and snacks (generous quantities of dry fruit and fruit!). We were told that these pots were specially sourced from Pakistan and went through a rigorous FDA approval process. These pots Portions are generous can easily serve 3 people. We highly recommend the chicken handi and biryani. Breads are soft and luscious. The staff is very warm and welcoming. One can truly feel the love and hard work with which this restaurant has been conceptualized, executed, and is been running! DEFINITELY A MUST TRY!!!
Definitely one of the best Pakistani food around, this is the third time I’ve been to this place the owners, the workers are very polite. And it’s convenient as they have their own parking lot right behind the restaurant. You could sit outside and eat, or dine in if you want to. They got one of the best lamb boti i have had.
Highly recommend this place.. best of the best.. the food quality is still the same as they started which is lovely... the same taste the same quality lovely service especially the lady in the front took really good care of us... best service best food must try.... loved ClayHandi....
Great customer service, beautiful scenery outside and inside. We sat outside with the breeze. Food is 10/10. Everything tasted so fresh! and authentic. And the clay experience was really fun and fancy. Our plates and water pitcher and pot all came in beautiful clay. If your worried about the price, the meals are meant to serve at least 2 people so portions are really big, not to mention the food itself are really fulfilling. Me and my two other siblings went not eating prior but we still had to take takeout boxes. All in all great place 👍
Oh my! My boyfriend and I came here for the first time on my birthday for lunch. It literally blew me away.Sometimes you go out on a limb and try something new and it reminds you of why you shouldn’t eat the same thing all the time… I cannot wait to come back, I want to try every single item on the menu.😋🤤☺️
The food is really good. Our table got the chicken Tikka Masala, paneer Tikka, and, the mutton boneless handi. The meat was really tender and delicious. The mutton had a very deep umami flavor. The Tikka was also very tender and aromatic. It was slightly creamy but full of flavor. Overall, the food was amazing and I would definitely come back again
Restaurant is ok. The prices seem on the high end. We liked Mango lassi which we felt will be given in a glass but was given in a pot !. Rotis were smooth. The flavours of biryani was good and Malai kofta which was said as speciality was ok it tasted different believe its made with mustard oil which gave a different flavor.
When your stomach feels empty after coming from restaurant, it means that the place has quite unique and unexpected experience. And there were many things did not work for us. We had ordered vegetarian -1. Breads were served 5-10 mins before any curries were served2. Two dishes were brought to our table which we were told were meat even though we had ordered vegetarian.3. Later they told that it was chicken even though we were told they understand that we had orders vegetarian.4. Soup came 15 mins after main course5. Hot and sour soup was ordered but we were served chicken soup6. Glasses and plates came after repeated reminders. The treatment did not feel correct and given the confusion regarding being served non vegetarian food after ordering vegetarian food, it really left PRETTY BAD TASTE. I am not sure if things we ate were what we ordered but were were surely asked to pay the full money.
I wish there were some negative stars to place here! So I ordered a Full Goat Kabuli pulao from them to pick up! Picked up the food without checking as it was all packed, came home and found out it was goat biriyani with just a single piece of meat!!! ! After calling them they said if I can go there to change the food and get the right one! Initially they said they were out of goat pulao so they gave me goat biriyani! (Without even asking me!!!!!) then they made me wait for 15minutes and came out with the same box just added extra half cooked meat on the top!!! Yuck! By then I lost my patience and said I wanna cancel my order! Again they asked me to wait and said they will make it right this time! I waited another 15minutes and they brought a new packet wrapped with plastic wraps so I couldn’t check it and got back home with the food! It was socked with oil and burned onion and other spices! It made the whole dish to bitter to eat! Me and my family couldn’t eat a single bite even if we were hungry for like three hours! By that time all the restaurants were closed so we couldn’t even had dinner! So my point is- if you are out of the food I ordered, you should have just told me you guys are out. When I wanted to cancel my order, you shouldn’t have forced me to wait when you weren’t willing to cook it right!worst place to order anything! Please be aware of the quality before you order! And don’t want to review of the service!!!
A very unique experience with clay pot served traditional Pakistani food. The flavors are on point. The outside of the restaurant is not the prettiest, but it shows all the different types of cooking methods involved in making such delicious food. They have an interesting pottery storage on display behind. The ambience inside was good. We enjoyed the dinner. To my surprise, it appears they cooked all our meals or at least significant portion of it (chicken handi, aloo gobi, fish biryani and naan) to order. I was half expecting them to heat it up since this restaurant had a drive through.
I went on a Friday around 9pm, the restaurant was pretty busy and full. It did take awhile for us to get our order in but I think there was only one server working so not her fault. She was incredibly kind and attentive as she could be, happy to help. Our food came out quite quick and was delicious. The samosas were top notch. I highly recommend this place but maybe on a less busy night!
Food is super delicious. We were finally able to find a place with Pakistani food taste.Number 1 saag and makaii ki roti. I have fallen in love with it all over again.Number 2 mutton Kuna with medium spice and its gravy is amazing but not consistent with taste, sometimes the meat is not tender enough.Seekh kabab and chapal kabab were good too .. oh yes the sweet lassi is a must have too.Ambiance:The ambiance is great. The serving in traditional clay pots makes it a great feelPrice:Prices are on the higher side. They have revised the prices and its now expensive. Serving size for the price is small, and also, they charge 15% gratuity without any indication (we were 6 people).Parking:Free parking is available at the restaurant back.Staff:Waiters are mostly friendly now with a kind and pleasant attitude towards the customers
Food was amazing, it took some time but was totally worth it. Hands down one of the best Pakistani taste in NY. I dont know whats the deal with the bad reviews here. But for our group it was a great experience, the ambience of this place reminds us of home. Especially the owner she is an amazing person. Would definitely come here again.
This is our third time visiting this place. Few things we have noticed and have agreed with other reviewers are that:1. The service is ABSOLUTELY RUDE and HORRIBLE2. The foods are extremely overpriced comparing to the quality of the taste and quantity.3. The person/ owner who takes the order have always been super RUDE!4. There is NO order in serving the food. For example, they served main dish and forgot to serve rice we had to ask for it several times to bring it (very chaotic experience)5. The serving plates are smaller than a toddler/ baby plate!!!The reason why we visited this place 3 times? Well, the first two times were in 2020 (we literally drove from Maine) and the food relatively tasted better so despite knowing their horrendous service we still decided to visit in 2022 and boy we are gonna say goodbye to this place forever because this time the food tasted like trash!Again, not worth eating at this place especially with such overly price tags!!!!
This place was very fascinating because they have the food served in clay pots but we decided to do a take out. Got to try out their boneless chicken handi and malai kofta. Both were delicious and would definitely recommend it. If you order take out you need to get the food from the drive thru window. Overall I loved the food though I found it a little expensive but worth it. I would love to go back and try other items on their menu.
The food wasnt the best but the experience was worse because of the service. I want to say its from the pandemic and staffing but I honestly think its management. The servers were working really hard but dont have a lot of support from management. While dining we heard arguments in the kitchen. The items we ordered are things that could be premade...yet they took 30 mins to come and we had to remind them about our drinks that we ordered. The concept of the resuraunt isnt like any we have seen before but the service is not being executed at the same level.
For starters, I love the vibe. The venue is super low key but also elegant. The staff was super polite and welcoming, as we were kindly greeted right when we walked in. As far as the food goes, it was excellent. It came out piping hot with an abundance of flavor. Overall I’d say I’m definitely coming back.
FAKE REVIEWS. do not trust them. they sell STALE food that went BAD OLD biryani that started smelling bad as soon as I warmed it up in the microwave the same day for lunch. And the girl said because you warm it up after you take home it smelled bad. so was I suppose to eat it cold so it doesnt smell bad.the samosa was raw dough from the inside, had no taste and not to mention were extremely expensive.do not trust the server woman who keep telling u that the food will just take u back to Pakistan. the food they packed up for us tasted disgusting and was bad and on top of that overly pricey. she did well in fooling us to buy more.the girl didnt give us any privacy till we left she kept telling us the stories about her visa interview and approval for USA and also that she was a professor at beacon house IN KARACHI. when its just a school. Apparently she is now a waitress, the front desk and the cook too at this place. Instead of refunding me the amount for bad food she said she will cook herself for us next time. shes got to be kidding me...They served tea in the very small retarded looking mud vase. no one drinks tea in the mud vase even in Pakistan, not even in the Punjab. They refused to give me the money back for the bad biryani and raw samosas. even though I was willing to pay for the other food that we did not eat and threw away because it smelled bad and tasted weird. I figured it was not edible.THEY FOOL ME AND ROBBED ME. THE RESTARAUNT HAD NO ONE THERE WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE BUT THEY KEEP TELLING US THEY ARE VERY BZ. I TRUELY BELIEVE THE REVIEWS ARE FAKE. Because the food was terrible and terribly expensive. I have reported them to the food department.
Very good restaurant near Niagara falls 👌. Clean and beautiful interior settings. All of the foods were great. I will recommend to try their Kabuli Goat Pulao and Chicken kabab.Note: Please ask the serving size before ordering any items. They have Full serving/half serving. The half serving is enough for two people.
This place charged $150 for food that was probably worth about $60-$70. The chicken kahrai in the black container cost $47.99 . Chicken 65 (approximately 10 small pieces) in white container was $17.99. The beef curry also in black container cost in the $40s. I don’t mind paying for good food but the price should match the quantity. I was blown away at the outrageous amount we paid for the amount of food received.Additionally, the restaurant failed to give us the receipt for the breakdown of the food cost. It’s not up to the customer to ask for it. It’s common courtesy to give customers their receipts which this place lacks.
Awesome international food Great smiles by the staff. Just enjoy and be patient nothing but great things will come to you especially the food which is fresh tasty super tasty in an overall great deal. Dont forget if you did not know in the very back is a clay pottery sales establishment I never knew how clay can be so beneficial to my kitchen utensil ensemble. Check him out for the food first and foremost got to love their naan bread
Uncleaned Plates, Tasteless Food and Hours of wait time even if restaurant is emptyGet Diarrhea free with food hereWe were 6 ppl, they suggested to order 3 biryaniCharged 170$ for 3 biriyani and RotiIf you ever go there, just taste one plate before listening to them and ordering 4-5, will end up wasting a lot of food
This place deserves more than 5 stars for the quality of food they offer. Ambience is super nostalgic and reminds one of the typical desi culture back home. We ordered multiple food items and it was prepared fairly quick with finger licking spices. Salad, pickles and chatni was complimentary. I left a happy customer who recommends this place. (P.S. the gentleman on the front counter was very professional, kept sanitizing tables even when nobody was watching)
Just had the food here for the first time and it was amazing! The food and customer service is very good. The atmosphere is very homey and the seating is comfortable. The waitress today (Nazia) was phenomenal and very attentive. If I move back here I definitely believe Id become a regular.
I almost never write a review but my God this is the most authentic Pakistani food Ive had in the United States so far... And this is coming from a Pakistani (already setting the bar high when it comes to judgement).Nazia, the owner, is always keen to provide the best customer experience ever. She is passionate and knowledgeable about the food and super helpful in recommending dishes from the menu based on your spice tolerance level or just general tasting. So please ask for her, youll not be disappointed.Overall, I love the environment too, its not over decorated, small but cute. Avoid rush hours if possible.
Nice place for desi Pakistani food. Large menu selection, good portion size and reasonable price for its category. Mix of fine dining and fast food restaurant experience. They had drive-though window for on the go customers.I included ClayHandi Resturant as part of my Niagara visit itinerary. I liked the traditional décor and light background music. The clay plates and utensils have a visual aesthetic, but these are not kid friendly. Pouring lessi from a pot required special handling. Even keeping large spoons in the plates where no less than acrobatic balancing act. During my visit the washrooms were going through renovation of some sort and were not clean as you expect to find in fine dining place.Still, its a nice place and standout from usual desi restaurants. As a group we rate food at 4 start and over all experience at 3.
Went for dinner and loved the place. The food was good, especially their naan. They serve in clay pots, including the tea, which makes the presentation great. The staff is good. The owner on the cashier’s desk, Nazia, is a soft spoken person. She approached us multiple times asking if the food was good and apologized for the delay in service on a very busy day.Would recommend others and definitely visit again (when I revisit Buffalo).
Had dinner at this restaurant late Wednesday night and used my credit card for payment. 2 days later my bank informed me that my credit card info was stolen and I had 5 transactions on it this morning. I had not used this credit card any where else a week before this dinner or up until today so I am sure it was the restaurant where it happened. Owner is a very nice lady and if she is reading this I urge her to check her system to see if someone may have access to it or installed a skimmer? For all others if you had dinner there this week, plz check your card statement. Food was excellent though!
Authentic Indian food with awesome taste. First they give you salad and then you order. We ordered parachat(I am not sure about the spelling); it was good a cold appetizer with chickpeas, yoghurt, potato and other stuff. I order kaboli polo with lamb and mango juice for my drink my friend ordered paneer beriani and mango shake I guess. First mango juice was heavenly, exact amount of suger it needed and fresh taste. Kaboli polo was superb. The lamb, was juicy fresh and tasty and kaboli polo was great it self. Quality is great and quantity is awesome too.
Hello,This is the best restaurant I have heard from my friends living in USA. I live in Canada. I spoke to the owner of the Restaurant today, she was so professional that I would love to visit them some time next week, and inform all my friends and families in Mississauga-ON., Canada, about the sweet smell of the Clay Handi Restaurant with amazing menu they have.Thank you for opening such a beautiful restaurant in Buffalo which we were definitely missing from Pakistan 🇵🇰.Will see you guys soon!ShariqMississauga-ON.
Enjoyed the delicious food at Clay Handi Restaurant, Buffalo. The owner and the staff were very courteous and made us feel at home, especially Ms. Nazia. She ensured customer satisfaction by occasionally going to every table and thanking each and every individual. Definitely recommend going there and trying the great food.
The waitstaff seemed incredibly understaffed and the wait on the food wasnt too great but man was it worth it. The food was amazing and I got exactly what I wanted. There are so many spices. And the decor was amazing, absolutely astounding. You can really see the effort put into each piece; it was quite an experience.
Updated 2022-Everything has gone down the drain in last 1-2 yea. Neither it taste good nor they pay attention to your order. Happen to us 3 times. Please don;t waste your money here.3 Years back I left 5/5 review and now downgraded to1.Nice food, clean place and friendly staff. Authentic Pakistan ( Punjabi - Faisalabadi) style food. If you are in the area, do give them a visit. They were kind enough to serve the starters which had variety of small small items.I tried palak , no cheese. Was good but have to be honest not the best. I ate way better palak then this but serving style and good to nice food makes it worth giving a try. Plates , dishes and glass were all made of clay. Nice to have them.
Hi we came here almost by 11 am by that time itself food is ready.Unfortunately, no body is there and we are the first guest to have lunch.Food taste is really good. We had chicken biryani which is cooked in pot really nice and had samosa and at last chai. After long journey we enjoyed having delicious tasty food.We thank each and everyone for your good work.
It was a great experience to dine at this authentic Pakistani cuisine outlet. The server looked a bit tired or may be i was wrong. But afterwards he was very helpful and keen. We ordered a couple of items which tasted great. Specially the Roghani Naan was too good. Serving in clay pots is a tough job and I appreciated their passion to do it. I hope you get “never lasting” recognition for the quality food you provide.
Given the price I was expecting much quality food. Our paneer tikka was burnt. We also ordered paneer tikka masala and it was barely paneer tikka. Just simple paneer added to gravy. The appetizers lacked salt (I dont eat high salt but will give it everyone has different expectations). The naans made up for the below average dishes. They were soft and tasty. They also served the gravies and forgot about the naans. By the time naans arrived which we had to remind, the gravy was no longer piping hot
I saw this restaurant while I was driving past it because I had initially planned to go to another restaurant for dinner but by the time I went their kitchen was closed and so were almost all the restaurants in the neighborhood except clay handi. I ended up having dinner here and I felt happy that the other restaurants were closed because everything the food here was absolutely delicious and I wish I could go back but I dont live here or anywhere close by so I couldnt. But when I come to Buffalo next time, this is the restaurant I would come to. Biriyani, kebabs and almost everything here is really good. The only downside would be that the restaurant is always crowded and the service was slow but if you are patient, its completely worth it :)
This place is love. I have never witnessed such a conventional Pakistani food experience ever in USA (provided I have been to most of the states ). Highly rich cultural place and food taste amazingly delicious. Some features I loved the most ♥️ Courtesy Clay Handi Team :Ordering : You simply walk in and cashier would take your order or if they have table available then server is going to come and would take your order.Seating and Ambience : Very conventionally decorated and well organized seating arrangement. Nice scenery on the wall and staff members running to serve the best.Food Itself : I gave a shot to Peshawari Karahi with Sesame Nan breads and one order of CH. Biryani. The food was served in Clay crockery and I bet this kind of taste and serving style you won’t find anywhere else in States. Awesome awesome awesome food and number one host for sure ♥️Overall I would say the management was up to the work and were serving their customer nicely and in a very friendly manner. In the end it was so good to know that this business place was owned by a Pakistani women Nazia.Stay Strong Team Clay Handi and keep rocking it !
Git better food lel.Took 1 hour to give 5 people 3 samosas.I have cancer nowYou made me cry (not a joke)I would rather eat a rock, the food is like water and even the water is horrible :(And now, a poem by a sad customer:“Clay Handi, why have you fooled us?Is bad service at your place always a must?I thought you guys had better business.Just close the store because it is a big miss.
Ive been wanting to try this place for sometime. Today is the day as it turns out it is a national Pakistan independence day.I am uninformed about Pakistani cuisine but its just like Indian food. No crowd so service was prompt. Tony my server was able to give me some help with my order but I ordered way to much food and I had to pack a lot of it for leftovers. Started with a salad of Romaine greens with cucumber cantaloupe and grapes no dressing I was told to use the table sauces mint green chutney and yogurty green sauces along with a sweet tamarind sauce. No complaints but I need to learn more about this cuisine before I return. I tried the cauliflower naan which was okay but just that okay. Next came beef and chicken samosas. Deep fried dumplings that were good not over greasy. Fish pakora were also fried battered fishy morsels. I thought the The clay chicken handi was spicy as requested chicken stew dish that I enjoyed. I requested rice and it came out but the grains were longer than I had ever encountered before almost angel hair pasta like. However tasty and a nice accompaniment to the chicken handi. Chicken kabobs were a sizzling delicious final to my main meal. I had a mango lassie a kind of smoothie that was delicious as well and what I was told to be a cookie turned out to be a mango type of frozen popsicle but more creamy.
Pretty bad service. Food is ok I guess for Buffalo. Place seems a bit dingy, dirty, and dark. I can understand the whole clay pot theme but not my water glass and plates. I really feel like this place can do better by getting waiters out of sweatpants, telling the guy upfront to take off his huge headset and pay attention to who walks in and just focus on customers overall. Not once did anyone come to ask how our food was or if we needed anything. I asked a guy for a soda and he said no and pointed to the door/front. I had no idea what he was implying. Overall food is ok, but service and ambiance is horrible!!
We had dinner and breakfast (the next day). Their food was good. Payee werent that good. BBQ, sweet lassi, lemonade was great. The owner (Nazia Aapi) is sweetheart. Staff is good. They serve food in clay pots which is quite cultural and nice but at the same time its difficult at some point because of its size. But overall a good experience.
We visited this place on 6/21/2022 while visiting from Texas…Food was excellent…on top of that I was amazed by owner Nadia’s Service…at one point my credit card could not work and she was willing to let us eat for free…have not seen many people with a heart like this…Great Food served by People with great heart like Nadia !Strongly recommend !
I was there with 3 other people on 5/14/22 at noon. The food is excellent and the staff is friendly. The restaurant is clean and comfortable.I’ll repeat: the food is excellent. Good tasting, piping hot, and worth the price. This restaurant would greatly benefit from FOH staff with serving experience. My review is 3 star for the service, 5 stars for the food.
The food was excellent, and the service was wonderful. Our server explained any dish, and even suggested the best size dish to get for our money. Prices look expensive, but most dishes eat two or four people and even then you will probably be taking some home. The Chicken Tika Masala was delicious, and I will ALWAYS get the garlic Naan!!!! Also, you have to try the pink tea!!!! This is one of my new favorite places to eat in Buffalo/KenTon.
Service is horrible and food is disaster.Too pricy and not at all recommended.Clay pot concept is innovative and appreciated but they are not well maintained.Cutler is not properly washed, prefer to use disposable.Order detailsLassi is ok.Chicken Biryani (bone in) - it’s tasteless with out any spice, curry is made separately and mixed with rice.Mutton Nihari - no salt and it’s more gravy.Naans - are of like pizza and missing the softness.Malai Koftha - it was sour and kofta balls are stale.
Exquisite, authentic food and customer service by all staff, the ones in the back n front n Nazia the owner. We drive over an hour from Ellicottville to go here and love everything we order each time. Today we had the awesome paalik gosht, Tawa qeema , seekh kebabs and lassi. The appetizers - paani puri and samosa chaat were great too. We finished the meal off with super authentic pink tea! We always go here n will continue, I even bring my brothers from Canada here!
The food was Amazing. Everything was on point. We ordered a family platter, Tikka biryani, chicken handi. We also ended up our with the home taste tea and gulab jamun which was the cherry on top.Customer service was also on point. Staff is very friendly and helpful.I also like the setup of the place. It actually gives the hometown vibes.Really enjoyed our trip.
The food was great! This is a really good spot for Indian food in Buffalo. I tried the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, matter paneer and mango shake. It tasted fresh and was served in cute clay pots! The staff is also very sweet and caring. I would definitely recommend this place. I will be going again.
Ah where to begin… We were a group of 4 people went for dinner and ordered several items from the menu.Shrimp biryani was just plain rice with color and few pieces of shrimp. No flavor whatsoever. They have a large portion though. The fish curry was good but the portion was barely enough for two people. The “Naan” wasn’t even Naan. It was more like kulcha. The Dhaka fish was good but was lacking salt. The pani puri seemed like absolutely no effort was put into it. The chickpea chaat came with big cubes of potatoes…The mango lassi was just plain yogurt with a hint of mango. Not sure if I’d call that mango lassi. The falooda was kheer with cut up kulfi ice cream and some syrup on top. They really need to take a second look at their recipes and I think they’d be a great restaurant if they improved on the quality of food. Loved the decor and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Also, the price of the food is a bit high compared to other restaurants. We spent around $200 so think they could work on that as well.I’d give them 5/10
OMG, what a hidden gem! Stopped here by chance, and it turned out to be one of the best Indian restaurants in not just Buffalo, but quite possibly the entire upstate region. This is authentic South Asian Peshawari/Afghan/Mughlai/North Indian cuisine!Highly recommend adding a stop here if you are on your way to or from the Niagara. The food is superb, the staff even better!
Had been to restaurant at 10:30AM, had explicitly asked if biryani is fresh as we are heading back to Michigan. Server was like we make biryani at 5:00AM and it had gone stale by afternoon. We had ordered Aloo parantha for bf it was extremely bad! Place is awfully dirty, staff aren’t friendly and it’s on expensive side. Please don’t stop by at this restaurant.
Went here all the way from Toronto and I must say it was worth every minute! Nazia, the owner is super sweet and brings so much sunshine with her smile. Apart from the amazing customer service, the food tasted soooooo good! I felt like I was in Pakistan, especially the naans were so soft and tasted so good that ate a naan by itself.Loved it Nazia! Thanks so much for an amazing experience! Definitely coming backkkk💕
We drove to Clay Handi from Rochester Ny and I must say the place exceeded our expectations. Ms Nazia who is the owner was very warm and welcoming. The Veggie pulao and Malai kofta was very flavorful and aromatic. Overall excellent service and food. Highly recommend and we definitely plan to visit again!
Firstly,Please do not offer me for 5% off on my next visit or apologize , I can pay any price if food is Good.Costumer service- 0 out of 10Food- 4 out of 10You need to buy WaterCall them multiple times to say I’m ready to orderFood takes forever to get to your tablesVery Greasy SomosaFlavor and consistency of butter chicken is not so good“ Taj Grill” Is 100 times better in Food, costumer service, cleanliness and healthy foodAnd I totally Agreed with J I posted pic of review . 100% True
The food was delicious and the service was really good! the portion sizes are pretty big too!edit: i kept forgetting to edit the review after i left since i reviewed it while i was there, but we waited forever for a pink chai. the service was not very good in the end, but the food was still good!
A new and refreshing experience across the border - from Canada to USA!! Apparently it’s my first visit but seems to be unending. The food was really marvellous specially Kunna and Charsi Tikka. Nazia approached us with great pleasure and smile which is above all tastes!! I’ll keep visiting them frequently.
It was our first time at Clay Handi. The food was really good. We tried chicken Biryani, family Tandoor platter, Beef Nihari and chicken Boti Malai. Every thing was really good except Nihari was so so. Restaurant’s sitting area is good with Bathroom clean though it’d be better if they had 2 separate Bathrooms. Overall I’d say it’s little on the expensive side but food was really good
The place is cute. Decorated with lots of handi (clay vases and showpieces). It’s a cute diner and the food is served in handi with clay plates as well!!!The menu has a lot of great options. We started with Paani Puri (hoping for a millionth time to find something that comes close to Paani puri in Pakistan) and for the first time We were not disappointed. The spices, the taste and everything about it was absolutely amazing. Definitely try this 10/10.For main course we ordered Junglee chicken Karahi and Mash daal fry with garlic naan. This order came with Raita, absolutely amazing green chutnee and Achar! The food smelled amazing, looked mouth watering and tasted great. We ended our lunch with ordering gajar ka halwa which once again did not disappoint at all. We ate a bit too much! Would 10/10 recommend this place. The chef was amazing. He told us that he is from Lahore and Karachi. He definitely knows how to make authentic desi food that tastes like Home!Thank you so much for an amazing experience! Dil khush hogaya ☺️
We had a wonderful dinner experience at Clay handi. The chef was very warm and welcoming. We ordered Bihari Kabab (Chicken) and Chicken sheek Kabab and they both were excellent and by far the best Kababs we have had in a long time. We would highly recommend you to visit clay handi if you are in Buffalo, NY.
This is definitely in the bottom 1% of the south Asian places I’ve been to. Took them almost an hour to bring our food out. They messed up our order and didn’t bring a few items. The food was extremely bland and had no flavor. To top it off, they forgot to add salt to the food.
Food quality was decent but couple of things were really disappointing. Firstly the restaurant was out of tap water ,which is extremely weird for a restaurant to be out of water , so they gave us tap water but the most concerning part is charging 2$ per small bottle of water , which is way overpriced specially they were out of water which was not our fault . On top they charged us 20% gratuity which wasn’t informed to us ahead of time . These are definitely not good experience
It is a Pakistani restaurant. Very different feeling to eat on clay plate and drink cool water from clay glass. Nice interior decorations. You can buy clay pots vases and plates from outside store. Food is okay but they used frozen vegetables for my biryani. I have never tried Pakistani food before. It has less flavor compared to Indian food. Little bit modern compared to traditional food. It wasnt crowded around 1.30 pm on a weekday. Id say food was okay
Horrible place. The food is about a 6.5/10 but the staff is more like 1/10. In the hour that we were there, the staff did not serve us water despite me asking them politely about 10 times. Our server kept on swearing and making rude faces at us while we were trying to order as if I had done something to offend him. No surprise that almost every alternate customer was complaining about the service.
We came here for dinner to celebrate. We were in group of 15 and greatly disappointed with slow and poor service. Person who took order did not understand and had to repeat multiple times and after that he brought wrong order for 2 dishes. Manager came and get us correct order but they charged us for wrong order also.Would suggest them to improve with service. They had good food but overall experience was not good at all.
Order:Naan. - 6/10Daal Makhini- 3/10Chana. - 3/10Charsi Tikka - 0/10Kabuli Beef Pulao- 5/10Family BBQ Platter- 4/10Need to follow proper recipes otherwise need to change the names.Nobody is buying food for free. Lack of professionalism & trust towards customers.Note:Dont forget to check food you order before leaving.
We had a great time there, food was delicious we ordered 5 different menu items and each of them were tasty. Makhni Chicken Handi, Chicken Handi, Malai Boti, Tikka Boti, Roghni Naan, Garlic Naan and Chicken Burger Combo, all were very nicely cooked. Everything was served in clay pots and they have very nice setup for dine-in. Overall 5 stars because its really nice place to have Pakistani Cuisine in USA
We did a dine in despite the pandemic going on, the ambience was good, no-one came to take our order, we had to call them at the reception like after 20 minutes. They did not serve any starters which they normally serve like dry fruits, salad to other customers. They were in a hush hush situation since lots of people wanted to dine in. The cook served the food and it was on point, we got the chicken biryani, Beef Nihari and Naan. The Nihari was super excellent and the biryani. The Naan was super soft and very good. The chef served us in the clay plates and the owner asked us to replace the plates as they had a shortage of them and later gave up and went away. I do not expect someone to take the plates away when you are to server food.Overall would highly recommend them for food, the food is 5 Star but 2 star for hospitality.
Had to edit this after what happened today, ordered veggie pakoray and it was undercooked and extremely salty. I told the waiter and he said that he cant do anything since I ordered it and they made it. Uhh yea u made it only halfway?? and expect me to pay in full? restaurants usually give a discount or offer to make another batch. we didnt even eat them besides the one we bit once and noticed how bad it was. overall, Haleem and paratha are usually good, and the rice is usually a hit or miss.
I went here for a birthday dinner for a large group (I believe 10 of us were there). They were so accommodating- they even took the cake I made and put it in the fridge for us, making sure to hide it from the birthday girl until it was time! All the food was delicious, and the vessels used to bring everything out and serve everything was hand made clay pots, plates and cups. I dont know what was better- the food or the presentation! We all shared, family style, since that makes more sense for the type of food- we mostly got different curries with rice, and a few different varieties of bread to share, along with some sausages and kabobs. The quality was excellent and there was so much more food than it seems when looking at the pots- we couldnt finish it, and we tried hard. The specs were incredible- complex, and had some heat as well. They even sell their earthenwares, and have them on display in the back in a beautiful shed like setup. I cant wait to return- it is perfect for parties and groups, but certainly would be great for a solo or 2 person meal as well. They are open very early and stay open very late, so they have breakfast options and are great late night food, too.
I drove all the way from Bolton, ON for a family gtg with my uncles visiting from NJ. Heard a lot about the place through social media posts and shares! The owner Mrs Nazia and her team definitely deserves an applause 👏 for her beyond the expectation customer services.Food is bit on the expensive side, but taste is unmatchable! The decor wakes up the sleeping Pakistani/Punjabi out of you! Beautifully landscaped exterior with elegantly decorated interior to give you depiction of what a real ancient Punjabi home looked like! Especially the use of Clay Utensils/Handis and all gives it the ultimate perfection.
I am all for having a big breakfast as this should be your main meal of the day and since Clayhandi is one of the restaurants open early, to my surprise they have what it takes not to just fill me up but taste is simply out of this world, I didnt expect that Id have such a authentic Halwa Poori and Nali Nihari with truly authentic fresh Naan straight out from a clay oven at my table in no time.I wish to visit there everyone morning just to have a Tandoori Tea cooked in a clay oven in a clay pot, just loved it. Keep up the great food you are providing to the community, will visit again soon!
Worst experience ever! It took very long-time to take our order and same amount of time to bring it. They mixed many orders and many people got wrong orders. The most disgusting part was when I saw them taking an order from a customer, which was eaten from it, and gave to another customer!!! If they did this in front of customers you can imagine what is happening in the kitchthe first!!
Because of corona epidemic, we used their take out service. The restaurant was easy to find, they have their own little parking and have a drive thru menu too as photographed. Prices were reasonable, staff was friendly and they kindly let us use their rest room which was nice and clean. We will definitely return and hope to use their Dine in service some day too.
It is my second time here and it is by far one of the best restaurants Ive been to. Everything we had (Chicken Handi, Lamb Kebab, Garlic Naan, Plain Rice, Mango Lassi) was scrumptious. I see some people complain about the customer service and waiting time, but it was quite the opposite for me. For my first visit the guy came over to our table and kindly explained everything on the menu and answered all of our questions for 5+ minutes. Also, Id rather wait a little longer for a freshly cooked food than those microwaved frozen ones most of the other restaurants serve. I highly recommend it. Would definitely go back again.
Ive been here once ever month even though its am hour away, they make the most authentic mughlai and subcontinental cuisine in upstate NY according to me. I plan to visit them once every month. Great staff, great prices, amazing quantity, and the taste is out of this world.

2022-05-17It was a unique experience and food was very tasty. Mango lassi was delicious! However, it was very crowded and servers were really busy. They were not polite most of the time. Instead of the chicken we ordered they brought a red meat dish which I’m allergic to. We had to ask for cutlery several times. There were not enough plates or cups for our group, so we had to ask for them several times. Plates were given after all the food was served. This might not be the situation at all the times but it was not a very pleasant experience. Also, felt like food was overpriced.

2022-01-29Very nice and helpful when picking food. Tastes great and is reasonably priced. I will be coming back next week. (Edit-) I have now been here three times and each time I learn a new dish I love. Gonna try them All in due time. The take out receipt is what I recently ordered and it was a nice tasty treat after I got out of work at 10:30 pm.

2022-07-05This is a beautifully decorated and homey feeling environment restaurant. Food tastes amazing. Great presentation of food items. I’ve tried beef curry, butter naan and Beef Nihari. Sweet lassi is a must try item. It’s one of the best drink you will ever try. Very refreshing. Their Tea ( Chai) was amazing too. Only down side is that customer service need to be improved. Very poor customer service due to not enough help in the front.

2022-06-14FOOD HEAVEN, if I have to summarize. We visited for dinner. The place was fully packed. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait or anything. The service and management is poor for sure. But I will forgive everything, just because of the food they serve. Go there with some time in hand. They don’t have proper staff. So expect delay in taking orders and other services. Start your dinner with some lassi. They serve everything in traditional clay pots. The lassi is yum. The yogurt is fresh and thick. This drink will help you in digestion. We ordered chapli kebab as appetizer. Chapli kabab has always been coarse and rugged if you compare it with fine galauti kabab. This one is also great in taste with a hint of some whole coriander and heat. The Bihari kabab on a sizzling plate was the best in the lot. I have tasted Bihari kebabs in many Pakistani restaurants. This is the best, hands down! Not to mention the kebab experience was escalated because of the freshly baked naan. We ordered aloo paratha as well. Lightly buttered paratha had the spicy potato stuffing inside. The paratha was terrific. The aloo/ potato was never bland inside, and it was fried perfectly in ghee/butter. The chutneys it came with ( yogurt chutney and a mint chutney) were totally mouthwatering and not watery. Finally we had some beef curry like entree served in a clay handi. This was decent. Overall the entire spec was fascinating. The ingredients were top, so as the recipe. They cooked with care. The food was amazingly tasty. I will go back again and again.

2022-07-04Drove from Toronto to come here based on a recommendation and the reviews. The owner who took our order was nice…..but nothing more. Took us over 5 minutes to place our order and pay for it because she had to keep on stopping to converse with her staff and other customers. We requested to sit outside and for some reason she had us order and pay first. Another family requested the same - she seated them first, provided actual menus and did not ask for payment/order first. Seats outside were filthy and bugs were crawling - wiped everything down with a napkin before sitting down. Anyways, wasn’t too bothered about the service, whatever. The real kicker was the quality of food for $86 plus 15% tip. We got 1/2 portion chicken biryani, 1/2 portion lamb karahi, 2 chapli kababs, 2 garlic naan and 2 cans of pop. Nothing was spicy, nothing was good. The chicken biryani was missing salt, and it was watery because they clearly just mix a curry into the rice upon order - it’s not biryani. Literally 3 tiny pieces of chicken in it. Kababs were missing salt and really dry for chapli kababs. Garlic naans were DRY - zero butter so we had to ask for some. Lamb karahi was more like nihari and with less meat, lots of fat. The chutneys were good - that I’ll give them - the only thing that had salt in it. No hate to this place, they have wait staff, cooks, bus boys - all working hard and being attentive to customers but as a restaurant they should re assess the quality and taste of their food for the price. There’s little to no competition in the area so they have a lot of potential.

2022-04-15This is one of the best ethnic food restaurants I have ever been to! My friend introduced it to me tonight! My friend, my sister, and I, we got garlic naan, mango juice, mint margarita (it’s virgin), veggie samosas, Chana masala, mixed vegetable curry, and baingan bhartha! The food melted in our mouths and we devoured as much of it as we could! The rest we brought home with us! When my sister and I got home, my dad tried the food and he agreed that it is absolutely delicious! Also, the customer service we received was beyond excellent! Very kind people running this business! Also, we loved the dishes that the food was served in! Can’t wait to come back!
