Elsewhere in other cities:
I went to elsewhere last night and was met at the pay station by the rudest employee I’ve ever encountered anywhere. When we asked what the cover fee was and he didn’t give us a straight answer because we were a group of 4. We asked him to elaborate because it was loud and we were obviously a little drunk (to be expected at a club..) and he got outraged and said “okay now you’re annoying me so it’s gonna be $35 each”. Everything about that interaction was so hostile made us feel like we were not welcome at all. This is a stark difference from all the other Brooklyn places I’ve been, where the staff makes you feel comfortable and welcome by laying down some simple rules of respect before you enter. I would avoid this club and instead go to Nowadays or House of Yes; way better environment and music for less or the same price.
We went there for the first time couple of weeks ago. That night they had Arabic DJs. I very enjoyed that they were three different areas with different kind of music, pretty spacious, but the later it was the more some rooms were filled with people. Drinks very bit overpriced, but I’m not going to clubs often so probably it was a regular price as for New York City. I’ll definitely visit this place another time.
Great Venue with TERRIBLE Stage Lighting - Went to the Hot Water Music, Strike Anywhere, Be Well show and the sound was about average for a music venue in nyc but the lights were just horrible. Couldnt see the bands at all half of the time and when you could it was all from the back. with the advent of LEDs the lighting in venues has gotten worse instead of better.... Please - the crowd would like to see the band.... otherwise, size, location, entry process, everything else was really good
My gf and I went to a show at Elsewhere last night. The sound was great, almost too polished for a punk show. The wristband bar service was interesting, convenient and something I’ve never seen before. Here’s where it gets a little weird, but the reason I’m leaving a review… my gf randomly started not feeling well and fainted. She was feeling fine seconds ago. No drugs were involved. We’re unsure how this happened. She cut her head open on stairs and went unconscious, from the fall. A stranger helped me bring her outside. The EMS team at Elsewhere was extremely responsive and helpful. They brought us into a small room to examine her and question us. Emmanuel and the rest of his team were great and made sure she got the help she needed and to the hospital safely. If you’re looking for a nice safe space venue, with solid staff and sound… this is it.
What a shame: great venue, sound system and booking but it is still requiring COVID vaccinations MONTHS AFTER these mandates were dropped in NYC and NY state.Ive been a house head since i was old enough to walk and providing medical papers to dance is ludicrous.Good luck with your rules, it would be a shame if you went out of business because of them.
The music was awesome, however I got shocked when had to share the restroom with men. Well, girls, no more fixing your tights or make up. Guys will surround you in the bathroom, it’s dirty and gross, generally… They call it “gender neutral” restroom. I think it didn’t pass the exam…it’s just about saving money. I’m disappointed.
Mediocre venue at best. No re-entry even hours before show started while not crowded at all, and no food on site on weekdays.Sound was terrible: compressed and not balanced. The band was suffering and also the audience. loud music from upstairs is audible during quiet songs. Not recommended for live shows.
Cool spot. Was my very first experience here for Soul Summit. The DJs were spinning lots of deep house and disco club tunes all day and night. The sound system is not great outside, but still pretty loud on the roof. Large bar and wasnt much of a hassle to get a drink. They were fully staffed and offered margaritas, IPAs and non alcoholic drinks. Used my wrist band like most places these days have. They do however also take cash. Gender neutral bathrooms are available. No issues sharing that space and no lines! Theres a mid level floor which was spinning Detroit house. This has a separate bar and more intimate. The lowest level was for another event, so looks like two can go on at this location at same time.My only concern and issue was how the floor moved when people were dancing. Im assuming the floor was made to give, as people shuffle their feet or theres a maximum capacity crowd. Just felt a bit uneasy! Lol. Ill be back for more events! Had a really good time. Security wasnt a burden either.
Usually love this venue but the artist performing on June 3rd couldnt even get through one song without the sound messing up. Had to sing acapella and then cut the show short. There was no explanation or acknowledgement in any way on Elsewheres behalf, and no replies to my email or Instagram message.
Went to the rooftop yesterday for a show and it was hands down the worst show I’ve ever been to in my life. The sole reason being the terrible sound system that made the musicians sound like they were performing karaoke. The echo for the mic was off the charts and the mixing made the dj almost inaudible. The music was so bad it was honestly painful… painfully cringing the whole time. When I approached a staff member about how bad the sound mixing was, I was told in a condescending tone that “we are aware of it” and yet it was already the last set of the day at 8pm so they had since 3pm to fix it or even earlier if they even do sound checks. Bewildering to have such terrible sound quality and passive sound technicians for a music venue. It’s a shame because I would love to support the venue and their inclusive ethos.
Sooo, I really like Elsewhere but I did not know that they still require proof of vaccination. First of all I thought those laws were over with smh. I got a ticket for Mason Collective & Simon Heyliger (5/6/22) and I planned to go to that event with my cousin from Miami who was here on vacation along with two of his friends from Miami. They all got tickets and Elsewhere didn’t let them in because they didn’t have proof of vax. I was panicking at first because it was shocking to me & I had to stay at elsewhere by myself smh. It was a really terrible experience because I didn’t get to spend time with my family due to this. My perspective about elsewhere change since then because it’s discrimination against people without proof of vaccination.*** Replying * I understand it’s for safety as you guys say but it’s still not a good law to go by when it comes to people not having proof of vaccination. As humans getting vaccinated should be a choice, not something forced. So to me it’s discrimination, I’m sure I’m not the only one that have this perspective on this. btw it was my family from Miami who I didn’t get to spend time with, not my friends. Thanks for the feedback but it wasn’t necessary, I already knew that.
The elsewhere that was 5 stars died with the pandemic. It’s over friends we gotta go somewhere else.To vets; everything is wrong here now. Security is so militant it’s bleeds into the whole vibe. We could excuse the overpriced drinks for the party but the party is also gone. It used to be a safe space, a haven for a good time but that’s in the past, the future is rubber stamped “abandoned all hope ye who enter”. I’m not kidding when I say they literally check your teeth now. You need to take off your shoes, spin around three times, then go inside to a space that’s aggressively stale. To newcomers; just don’t. 2000 good reviews shows a history, a lineage of a club that no longer exists. I’m sorry you missed out on what this place used to be, truly, but as someone who’s been coming here for years this place is dead. You’re better off going, ironically enough, elsewhere. This city too saturated with clubs for you to waste your time here.I wish I knew what happened, I wish I knew when the last good time here was held so I could go into the past and visit, but I’ll never be back again. It’s been real Elsewhere, thanks for the memories, but until you fix the problems gate keeping your establishment there’s no reason to be back.
Really cool venue. Small enough that concerts can feel pretty intimate but not annoyingly packed or anything. The light setup is mesmerizing as well. Theres also a lot of cool spaces within the venue (the roof and the loft bar). Drinks are expensive but its a music venue - what did you expect?
This is by far the best club I’ve been to in NYC. There’s always new DJs coming in and they have consistently good music. There’s a great variety in terms of sounds. Last time I was there the DJ was maxing with Vinyl! The set up is fantastic, plenty of space to dance, super cool layout, and well ventilated. The people there are really nice and have great vibes. I lost my wallet there last weekend and someone came and returned it to me 10 minutes later with everything in it! The atmosphere is great, everyone I go with ends up having a blast. Definitely come here!!!
First time going to an event here. Really liked the multiple floors. They have 3 different places to hear music any given night, with the loft even providing food and places to sit. Multiple gender neutral bathrooms that were relatively clean, even had some nice art installations. As for the music and acoustics, I thought The Hall was wonderful. Went to see a DJ set and we were able to hear it loud and clear and find space where people werent on top of each other. Would definitely recommend!!!!
One of the best venues around. Great sightlines and sound, friendly staff, reasonable (for NYC) drinks prices, plenty of clean bathrooms. Still havent been able to check out a rooftop show - weather the last time we went took a bad turn and the show was moved inside. But I always like seeing stuff in their main room, and the staff being so on top of checking vaccine passports made us feel fine about being indoors.
Spectacular venue. I came to see JMSN last Sunday. The staff were nice and the line moved quickly. Proof of vaccination and ID were asked at the door. The venue itself was intimate and you can see the performer pretty close. There are multiple rooms for simultaneous performances. Also a large smoking area. Would recommend (:
Awesome venue in the deep of brooklyn, really nice to see a mid sized venue like this here. This isnt any dive bar w a stage, and its not the garden. Roof top bar that can be seen for blocks, a mid level bar and mezzanine, and then the main floor bar which has a vast amount if booze and sits slightly higher than the floor, about even w stage. Great place to catch a show.
I’m always one to give credit when it’s due and not only does the manager but the head of security Manny and Steven need recognition at doing and an outstanding job. There was a misunderstanding at first but after staying calm, explaining the situation and where they were coming from at taking care of women and their safety, everything got resolved. As we all know, security can sometimes ruin people’s nights by just guessing a situation and aggressively kicking you out but Manny and Steven were humble and actually heard us and we continued to have a great rest of our night. I felt welcomed when first coming in and meeting the staff. Thank you Elsewhere for the great first experience! I will definitely be back for more events!
I personally love Elsewhere, its a fun venue to go to. Ive experienced pre-pandemic and what theyre currently doing with the roof. I prefer the relaxed vibe of the roof as Ill actually have signal and its more live music rather than concert/rave type environment. Inside is basically a dead zone because I believe that the venue is a converted warehouse. The drinks on the roof are pretty good and I think decently priced for NYC/the venue.
Nice place. I unfortunately didnt get an opportunity to actually see the rooftop since it was raining pretty hard all day, but the smaller are inside was fine. They had a decent assortment of cans, which was nice since I dont really do cocktails, but they were a couple bucks more than Id pay at just a regular bar. One nice aspect about Elsewhere is that they have a nice outside area downstairs where you can go to escape the crowd, if only for a little bit.Overall, I wouldnt mind coming to see another show here. Id love to check out the rooftop and its decently close to the train station.
This venue is awesome! Large, clean, cheap drinks. Theres a loft upstairs where you can get drinks or coffee and maybe some bites. I came here to watch a show and had a very good time overall. The people who work here are super friendly and there was enough room to dance and have a great time. If you want to get a bite to eat before the show I highly recommend checking out Bunker Vietnamese which is just a couple of blocks away.
You definitely got a problem with door security, transphobic, power play games and nasty. Bathroom security was terrible as well. Flashing lights and telling people to hurry up. I also seen security at the back of the stage walking thru people and pushing them into a different spot for no reason whatsoever. I went to Elsewhere shortly after it opened and it had a real vibe, now it’s just blah. I will go elsewhere next time!!!
Really nice venue- their rooftop parties are personally my favorite events they host. They have a great and attentive full service bar with clean bathrooms. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait in line to use the bathroom lol (major key for women). Also rly nice security team idk why I’m thinking of the weirdest things to review here but IYKYK lol
Had a beautiful experience, staff is super friendly. First time out in a long time, forgot about stuff like guestlists and bouncers and whitegirlwasted. Oh and Im pulling up with a 150lb service dog, to which their only concern was adequate space and safety, so they escorted us around the crowded areas. ❤ 🙏 The consideration and professionalism was just inspiring.
Absolutely incredible venue in every way -- cool spaces, cool aesthetic, incredible roof deck, great drinks and more. Elsewhere was the best venue possible for 100% Electronicon, and I (along with 1,000 others) are grateful they worked with George Clanton and 100% Electronica to make the all-day festival a reality.
Pretty cool spot, nothing spectacular in terms of views given its very unique location in Brooklyn, but I will say the chicken tacos were quite good, and the bartenders are super cool and friendly especially when you order shots in a group. One thing I will praise about this place is that I went on a Saturday night, and there was tons of parking. So whether you are taking a trip in using public transportation or driving in, you can reasonably expect to find some parking in front of the rooftop, or around the corner. If youre going for the views, dont expect to be too impressed, at the time Im writing this review there is also a construction crane in the distance working on a nearby building, but you do get some pretty nice views of the city from afar. If you want the best views, I definitely recommend Long Island City, but this place is a pretty cool combination of convenience, good food, and easy enough parking and accessibility to major highways that I can definitely recommended especially if you are looking for a chill night.
Super cool venue I went to see janine here in concert, the bartender was so nice and the energy was perfection from the lighting to the easy coat check everything was cool, my only suggestion is maybe serving food somehow because literally you will starve if you haven’t eaten or if the local food truck closes
While the venue setup overall is pretty nice it feels like theyve not invested in some areas which could make the experience a bit better in my opinion. Overall the sound system could be a bit better and their lighting person could scale back on the strobes. In addition the crowd just seemed off for the venue.
I saw los campesinos here in November 2018. I arrived to the venue early and it was pretty confusing. There arent any clear labels or directions posted anywhere. A lot of people (including myself) were waiting in the wrong area for the show and nobody told us until they were already letting people in. It was strange but once inside, it was an amazing time. Nice bar and big stage.
EDIT : Someone got back to me and refund me, even if it took a month to do it, thank you. They canceled my 100$ booking because of rain, its perfectly fine and understandable IF they would give me my money back. Its been 2 weeks that I am trying to reach out to them, but no DM possible on social media, no phone number available, no customer support and Sean wont answer any of my mails.Left a bitter test in my mouth, you just shouldnt spend that much time to try to get a refund.Open to edit my review if someone contact me to process my refund.
Went to a show on the roof top and it was a great place to see live music. The sound was great and the area was nicely shaded enough for dancing during a hot day.Bartenders are working hard serving drinks but you wont wait any longer than a typical popular bar. Also liked the loft which is a nice air conditioned place to hang out if you start to overheat on the roof. Really limited food menu in the afternoon on a Saturday, they only had grilled cheese.
Hmm, watch your wallet with the bartenders here. Duplicate charges with one bartender. And slacker service with the other not remembering our simple two drink order even though we were the only ones ordering at the bar. Cool venue but not interested in returning to Bushwick as an older, grumpier person I guess.
Really cool medium sized music venue. The sound is great, and you can see the stage from anywhere youre standing (the floor gently slopes towards the stage so you dont get stuck staring at the back of someones head). The bartenders are awesome too, it didnt take long at all to get drinks and pay.
I came here last night to see Wavves & Beach Fossils perform. The venue is amazing. They do a wonderful job of incorporating art into the space featuring rotating installations. There are multiple stages and a new loft space that opens this weekend. The staff working the venue were friendly and the acoustics were great. I will be coming back soon for concerts and to party on the loft!
First of all, I’ve never written a bad review but at this time it was a very disappointing experience .The place make you think that you will have a line outside and strongly encourage you to make a reservation with a very strict cancellation policy. You get there, it’s empty !Second, they don’t offer you any table service (no waiters) . You have to order everything from an App and take all your orders yourself get your food and drinks in disposable packages, which is ok (cups and cardboard boxes) - self service and charges you 20% tip (default).Third, they over charge drinks in small cups instead of a normal size cocktail drink .The menu online gives you more options and when you go there it’s not really the same . Fewer options.Anyway , great for parties prior to the pandemic . Now, not really recommended.Maybe when all of it passes ....
Worst experience ever.before host a concert, could you please UNDERLINE the “FULLY vaccinated”or “pcr test ”requirements of entry policies obviously on your page or print on the shows advertisement, instead of use the fake words mislead us to spend money on a “you can never make it”poor concert??so the audiences wouldn’t get mislead at the first place and waste their time, money and energy purchased and get all the preparation for the concert but got rejected out of the door at the last mins??Or you just needed to treat everyone all the same?I standed at the door and witnessed some of them only have the ID but somehow, finally they all got in!isn’t it hilarious?!And there is a refund option button on dice’s page and we were supposed to get the ticket refund on our phone quickly, but elsewhere set it up to “unavailable for this event “ so we can not use it??That means if you got fooled by their concert advertisement spent your money and couldn’t get in,after you still need to take extra time and energy to get my ticket refund!also I wrote the email for ticket refund as that manager told me to do,he guaranteed at the dooor that I will get my ticket refund but until now I still didn’t get any response.zero.👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
This place is cool but over priced. Has a great view of the city and a good outside roofed but the price for drinks in Bushwich rivals Manhattan. The music was okay, good for an hour or two but with a $10 cover to get in and then very expensive drinks, this is not a place I will go to frequently. However, it is great on a summer night. The tacos are a nice touch which you can buy inside but they were not that great, definitely need some work and some more veggies.
I saw Phantogram play here in the rain on the rooftop, and instead of showing him up by performing anything, it was three hours of her emotionally supporting his weeknight laptop-dj set with increasingly constant punctuations of “OhHHhh, Siiiiiiiiickk.” The bar has a spicy mango drink with the same virgin-like novelty of a Mike’s Hard Lemonade.
Good three dance room warehouse space, expansive outdoor section for smoking even during winter. NYE was a little incoherent though. Music in main hall was fairly pop-y until midnight, but the tone of the whole place is clearly more techno/house/electronic so it was out of place. Upstairs in the loft was already hip-hop/pop/punk and more focused on alcohol. With so many parts to the space its hard to get a sense of what line they want to walk - rave space or big box club.Id go again for sure if theres an act I want to see. Also light show/visuals need some serious work for the price level of the place.
The bird and the bee were a.ma.zing!! The staff were all nice. But quick reminder though your student ID doesnt count, you need a passport or sth if youre foreign. And also no drinks whatsoever (even bottled water) is not allowed. Dont throw it away, just put it aside near the door somewhere sneaky and pick it up after the show!

2022-04-17Nice disco ball and acoustics. However, people are vaping and smoking indoors even though there’s a courtyard for smoking. Very little seating so be prepared to stand the whole 3 hours of the music set. Bathroom is okay. Overall good place for small bands/shows.

2022-06-08First experience at Elsewhere is Brooklyn and what a show Devin Kennedy put on! Everything was perfect- the lighting, the sound, Devin’s energy and original music, how accommodating the venue was to musicians, the energy of the crowd and the love flowing from them to the stage and back, and the professionalism, artist appreciation attitude, kindness and efficiency of Elsewhere’s staff (particularly Sasha the amazing bodyguard/bouncer/protector/ who was there for the musicians, the crowd, the venue). And that was the warm up act!!! It was only fate that Jeff Bernat and Devin Kennedy would choose to tour together as they both wowed the crowd with beautiful, original music that had the audience dancing and singing. Both gave more than 100 percent and the evening was amazing, lit with hundreds of pinpoints of light, held by swaying arms and the harmony of an audience that knew every lyric. It simply doesn’t get better than this.

2022-06-15Good venue but frustratingly and inexplicably does not post set times on the website EVEN THOUGH they have the information posted at the venue itself. I emailed and checked all socials for the info... nothing. The deliberate choice to leave patrons guessing in the hopes that they will capture people for more time to sell overpriced drinks is disgusting and antithetical to the ethos of music. FYI if the ticket says doors at 8, then the main act will be on at 10. I will never come back to this place until they change this policy which is too bad because I really liked it.

2021-07-28Elsewhere is one of the few “rooftop” bars in Brooklyn. This was my first time going & I went specifically for a concert. I loved the frozen mojito & fact that they had gender neutral bathrooms. This would be perfect for drinks on the weekends or happy hour but unless you come early, I wouldn’t necessarily come back for another concert as many of the attendees clearly weren’t there to support the artist & talked too much during their set. However, if you plan to come for food & drinks I would definitely recommend this venue as it’s also close to a lot of my favorite venues in Bushwick like Lot45, Brooklyn Beer Garden & others.

2022-05-02Excellent venue! They have 2 halls and a rooftop available for concerts and performances. I saw Destruction and Nervosa in the smaller hall and had a blast! An intimate space with great sound and their wristband set up to order and pay for drinks at the bar is a very smooth process. All in all an enjoyable experience.

2021-10-14Love this venue! My partner and I were able to see both Indigo De Souza and Dounia at Elsewhere, and we were up front for each show. It felt so intimate, as if we were on stage with the artists. The tickets were affordable, and the bar prices were pretty reasonable for a Brooklyn venue. They’ve got a huge all-gender restroom, so you aren’t waiting in line for an hour to use the toilet. There are also plenty of restaurants, stores and bars in walking distance to visit before or after the show! Would totally recommend this venue—you won’t be disappointed.

2022-04-26Great venue for shows depending on the crowd. Drinks are small and overpriced. If you like straight liquor then that’s the better option because all mixed drinks just taste like alcohol. Be aware that if you are bringing any personal items that can’t go into the venue, security will pocket it and pretend like they don’t know what happened. Unfortunately this has happened to me multiple times, there is no point in emailing staff or following up because they will get nasty with you. I went to a show two days ago that ended at 4 am, I always carry with me at least something for self defense and as I had predicted, security “lost it”. No point in contacting them via email because they never respond.

2021-10-31Great place! Open venue with lots of different rooms, ranging from more intimate clubbing experiences to slightly more sprawling ones. Generally attracted a friendly crowd as well.

2022-06-25Found the attitude of the staff to be generally snarky and rude. There’s a palpable air of “we are so much better than you” that exudes from the employees here and it honesty makes this decent looking club feel pretty trashy.Lots of money spent to make it look and sound okay but it seems corners have been cut in terms of the outward professionalism and respectfulness of the people that run this space.I’ve always felt that the sincerity of any business is dependent on those who represent it and the lack of down-to-earth employees here leave the space devoid of any character it may have once had.I would say the only exceptions to this were the security and some of the bar staff. Otherwise it’s basically just another trendy club in a sea of equally mediocre venues.
