I hosted a small baby shower in the Bridal Suite at Events @171 Genesee. I could not have asked for a better experience. Tammy was happy to answer all of our questions and accommodated all of our requests. She was truly hospitable towards my family and guests. The room was bright and airy, thanks to the gigantic front window, crisp neutral walls and plenty of indoor lighting. The furniture was simply gorgeous! The neutral color scheme truly let our event colors shine. Tammy was kind enough to show us other spaces within the building that are available to rent. The entire place is breathtaking! Each space was unique, expertly decorated with tasteful and elegant design. I was blown away by the way that original features of the building (hardwood floors, exposed brick, and especially the functioning antique elevator) created such a unique and charming atmosphere. The possibilities in this building are endless. We are wishing this business loads of success! It truly is a gem!

We held our wedding at 171 last month and we are still on cloud nine. Chris, Brian and staff did an exceptional job with every single detail. The venue itself is beautiful, but all of the small touches made our day spectacular. We met with Chris and Brian multiple times, she was very accommodating and helpful with the entire planning process. We are so extremely thankful for everything.Thank you everyone for making our day so special!

I had my wedding at Events @ 171 this past SAT. Oct.20. It is an amazing venue and the owner (Christine ) has now taken over the management .She is an unbelievable person, who has taken over her venue and couldnt have been more helpful if she tried!! Their organization , fine tuning the DETAILS, and her special touches just made the night perfect!!! Christine , along with the team of Brian,Mike ,and Vanessa made my wedding a dream come true! IF you have heard gossip before this month ...., DO NOT worry--- this NEW team have it TOGETHER!! They did a knockout job for us!!!! More than I could EVER ask for !!!!! If I had to do the night over anywhere I want , I would still pick this Venue along with this fab team hands down !!!The venue has history, beauty, oldest working OTIS elevator and charm. On one floor ,there is the bridal suite - which is HUGE to die for ! The ceremony / cocktail hour we had on another floor . Our reception was the next floor above that . 171 is just a very special unique venue ,along with wonderful staff . I will miss this team . Many wishes to 171 for a great future ! Perfect for a small event. Staff were friendly and professional. They were always serving. Never ran out of anything. Food was amazing! I could have eaten all the appetizers on the plate they were so good. Beautiful decor. Made for wonderful pics. Only thing entry could be jazzed up a bit for events. Cafe closed at bottom so doesnt feel you are in the right spot. Divide off the cafe and throw up a pretty moveable wall with signage. Hotels and bars all walking distance so need to drive. Perfect location. Had a wonderful reception.

First off, the venue was absolutely beautiful! The elevator was unique and having both floors let people spread out. Make sure your vendors are ready to accommodate the multi-floor situation. Ours were willing to work with us (others in the area that we looked at were not). 171 is advertising us as the 206-person wedding but let me caveat that a little. The day of, we only had ~180, due to cancellations, etc. We only set up for 197 but 206 was a number maybe 2 weeks before the wedding. 171 said they could accommodate 200 and when I was worried about the 6 over, they said they could accommodate that but we didn’t end up going over. 171 definitely does not have the equipment for 200, or even our final count. I would not recommend more than 180. Luckily, our decorator Wendy Cherpak was a life-saver and brought in 30-40 extra chairs and 6 extra tables. 171 was not even going to guarantee up to the 200 chairs even after asking them about it and finally getting them to change out the old broken ones. Many of attractive features of 171 are extra. The place settings were $6/person, which isn’t unreasonable, but it does add up. Plus, I overpaid them for the settings, and they never gave me the money back after asking them for it. I really didn’t care, and it wasn’t that much money, I just wanted to be done with them. The furniture and table cloths are extra too but we did that through Wendy instead. After several times of asking them if there were any other charges, a week out they expected 10% for the elevator attendant and another attendant… its not listed anywhere on the contract. Again, it is not the money they asked for that I have an issue with, but this information should be presented up front as part of the contract or at any of the times we asked about extra charges, not a week prior. The day of, Alana Rui (event planner) had told us she would be on site all day but was not. So anytime our vendors or us needed something, we had to figure it out for ourselves. For example, when it was time for the dancing to begin we wanted to dim the lights, but we could not find Alana, so my husband and I were left to figure out where the right light switches were. Luckily, A Moveable Feast and Kenny the Promo Guy were awesome and able to figure things out on their own without much assistance from the venue. The planning leading up the event was a bit of a hassle and eventually we relied on Wendy plus our other vendors to make things work. We do appreciate the access we had to the venue leading up to the reception, as my family and I were given a few hours the week before the shuffle around tables to get things how we wanted. Since there were no other events around ours, we could also set up early and didn’t have to take things down immediately following the reception. 171 is new, so maybe things will get better management-wise. All in all, the reception went beautifully, and everyone had a great time, just be aware of some of the shortcomings with this venue and be ready to plan accordingly.

I recently had my bridal shower at 171 on the 5th floor. Everything was absolutely perfect!! Christine went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right for me. It is a beautiful venue, with nothing else like it in our area. Perfect for any occasion!! We had a Moveable Feast cater and they did an outstanding job with the food and presentation. Wish I could go back and do it all over again. Thank you to Christine and the staff at 171!!

This venue is stunning. We hade our ceremony and reception here. The owner and staff were beyond accommodating, kind, and attentive. The venues decor is stunning and timeless. They rent the venue for all different events not just weddings. You will not be disappointed if you choose them to host your next event!! Thank you so much for making our day amazing and memorable.
