Finally decided to give this another try after getting over deep irritation when I learned on an earlier attempt that no dogs were allowed. More disappointed now than before as this is the perfect place for a walk with a dog because theres really not much to see otherwise. Apparently they believe dogs on a leash are more disruptive to a nature setting than screaming children run amok who would really rather be at a playground. Most of the trails were grass or mud which seem odd that they havent been improved. Couldnt find a downloadable map for Avenza or scanable QR code map. Not really worth the drive from downtown Albany when all is said and done.
My girlfriend and went I around the North Trail in late October. It was a bit chilly and wet. I got scratched up trying to get around a muddy spot. We took lots of nice fall pictures, and even got some really close of what we think was a catbird??? And we also saw a few ducks. We always enjoy the entire area there.

2022-06-06This was my first visit and What a lovely surprise! Very clean, nice trails, peaceful lookout spots, seating areas on the trails and a decent amount of signs and posts.I did not go inside of the visitors center but from the outside it was quite large.I will definitely be returning in the future.

2022-01-06Nice walking trails. Perfect outing for kids as there are short (1/2 mile trails) and longer trails (2miles).

2022-02-08Such a perfect place for wild animals and people who appreciate the natural, non domesticated variety of life. No dog poop or plastic bags or snarling pets marking their territory to upset the balance of nature and create conflict with other humans. (see any 1 star review). No one on trails forcing you off because of slack leashes or with their better than human pets. I love my dog, and am glad to not need that security blanket everywhere we go. Its real peace of mind.

2022-06-12So many trails to explore in all seasons. Great outbuildings and beautiful ponds, creeks, birdwatching outposts, and a wonderful interpretive center with live animals and birds. Be aware that pets are prohibited on the trails, but theres plenty of other animals to observe.

2022-01-18Great place for education and getting outside. Lots of short easy trails which are great in all seasons. We really like the Vlomankill trail which goes along a creek and has some nice change of terrain. You should check out Five Rivers if you havent been there before.

2021-04-10Always a hit regardless of the season. So much great space for walking, running, hiking. Good signage, people wear masks and being respectful of space. Animals were alive and in spring mode. Easy parking. Miss being able to go in the interactive lodge. Definitely wear appropriate foot gear or expect to get muddy depending on what trail you take. Kids love to go off trail, more mud lol. Boots are a great choice..

2020-05-16This was my 1st time here. Seems like a very nice place to take a little hike with children. There is a education center here but closed due to what is going on right now with the covid-19. I did walk one trail called the beaver tree trail. It was a little loop around trail very easy to walk. I want to return and try a few other trails. They have a map you can look at near the parking area. Plenty of room to park your vehicle. No pets allowed which is nice so you can enjoy the walk around on the paths. Plenty of wild birds to see plus some turtles.

2021-04-10Husband and I met a friend here to go for a walk and catch up. This was a lovely place and we thoroughly enjoyed the trails and the scenery . Despite the maps though, some of the trails were confusing. Using the AllTrails app was helpful.
