Was told it was a 30 minute wait with 4 tables in the dining room because the kitchen was “backed up”. We said we’d wait because there is no way it would have been 30 minutes to sit down. She sat us down 2 mins later. We sat down and we ordered queso, the server asked if we wanted “the white kind or the orange kind?” I’ve been been asked that a restaurant is what my response was, we ended up choosing the “white”. It was bland and had very little taste; we also ordered guacamole, but unfortunately it also had no flavor and was just mashed avocado. It needed salt, lime and seasoning. My husband ordered tacos, all 3 were extremely dry, like no sauce at all on them. He said it seemed like they scraped the side of the pot with the dry meat and put it in his tacos. My enchiladas were the only thing that had flavor. Unfortunately we won’t be back anymore. We used to enjoy it
Came out for brothers engagement that was amazing to celebrate.Took 45 minutes to get our beer. Took 2 hours for our first plate of food and 3 to get everyones food after all of the mistakes. Also requested a gluten free meal didnt get it, was served gluten and told that it wasnt! Service was slow and not competent. Blamed a waitress quiting. Pretty sure they just use tomato sauce from in a can for everything. Flavor wasnt anything to brag about. Not a good first impression. Dont think we will ever come back!
Tried two different enchilada dinners. Neither came with the garnish of lettuce, tomato, olive that the menu stated. Also, the seafood blend in the enchiladas was just imitation crab meat. I wasnt expecting king crab and lobster but was disappointed it was just dry pollack. The green sauce was really tasty.
The waitress we had today was none other than Lydia. On the very day of her birth, aka her birthday she provided me and my family the best customer service of her life. The restaurant was packed and she was calm, cool, and collected. Also, we noticed the other waitress Lorraine providing good service as well. All of the staff was super attentive! The food was indeed tasty, compliments to the chef. The service was out of this world that we call earth.
Unfortunately didnt have the best experience here. Took about 20 minutes for a server to come over to us at all and our plan was to take advantage of their happy hour special which we saw on their website. They were very confused when I asked about it and I had to show them what I was talking about which they did end up approving hesitantly. Since everything took so long, we didnt bother ordering the appetizer we were going to get but the food that we did order was very good. The 3 stars is just for the poor service we received, food was definitely tasty.
AMAZING!! This was my first time here and it was the best Mexican food I’ve had in awhile. Lorraine was our server and she was so attentive and wonderful, she made a lot of great recommendations (hint: get the pitcher of frozen margarita) 😉 We got the guacamole and chicken supreme nachos to share and they were SO good. I LOVED the guacamole. Try this place out for a good time!!
This place is awesome!! Our waitress, Lorraine was fabulous. She was very personable and gave us great menu recommendations! We tried the nachos and the guacamole was one of the bets I’ve had. I definitely recommend trying this place out. I will definitely be coming back again soon!
Easily one of the MUST-EAT restaurants in The City of Buffalo.I came with my fiance for our first time and we had such a great time I actually had to come write an amazing review. Our Server was so kind and went out of her way to adjust the mixed up orders, very small things like a side of beans instead of rice but little things matter! The food was DELICIOUS AND HOT and the pitcher of strawberry margaritas was PERFECT! WELL BE BACK VERY SOON!!! 🙏👑🙏
Unfortunately we did not have a great experience on almost every level and will not be back. This was my second time here. First time was great. Second time, not so great. It took a while to sit because the hostess/waitress was chitchatting with the bartender. We are finally seated and it takes 1/2 hour to get drinks and chips. When we asked another waitress when we were going to be served, she responded rudely that our waitress is coming. My drink (wine) took longer because there were lipstick stains on my first wine glass and they had to get me another one. In the time of COVID, this is unnerving. They should be making EXTRA steps to ensure dishes are clean. The more I think of it, the more I feel the health department should look into their operations, just keep reading and you may agree. My friend orders chicken nachos which comes with a sauce on top. When the order comes, no sauce because “they are tired in the back and don’t want to make it right now.” What?! I then ordered a second wine. Guess what? Lipstick stains ALL OVER THE GLASS. Again. I sent it back and said, at this point I don’t want another glass. Food was subpar. The waitress tried and was friendly, but dirty dishes during a pandemic and poor quality and service made for an awful experience.
My disappointment is immeasurable.. and my day is ruined. If you think this is the best Mexican food you’ve ever had you must’ve only had hot dogs and Mac n cheese your whole life at the trailer park.I understand this is more of a Tex mex type Mexican restaurant but to claim to be authentic and have Mexican Pizza on the menu is a disgrace. Completely aimed towards non-Latino Americans. To say on the website that the original owners wife struggled to develop authentic Mexican food for the area and have half the menu with chimichangas and French fries..8.50$ for 1 Steak Taco…. This is literally on the menu it felt like highway robbery. Tacos Al pastor and carne asada are predominantly the most popular tacos in Mexico and y’all can’t even do that right.Advertised homemade tamales on the website which was going to be the saving grace and I was told “we only do those for special occasions.” Jesus Christ..I told the waitress it’s obviously not her fault but I left with my wife. Can’t support a fake authentic Mexican restaurant.
What a fabulous fun filled family experience, alliteration aside the food was exquisite and spectacular! Yummy yummy in my tummy! Our Valentine’s Day experience was first class as we had Lydia and Lorraine as our waitresses, A+ Best waitresses this side of the Mississippi! Whoever gives this place a one star review needs to re evaluate their life!
Not sure who thinks this isauthentic but to each his own. Food took very long, rice was re-cooked, tortillas where cold, fajitas where children sized portion. Get drunk tho and you might think this is a great meal. Quesadilla was barely warm, other things ordered where not brought out at all! French fries?! Those where good lol
So beyond happy this place is celiac friendly! Our waitress, Lydia was super knowledgeable and accommodating to my dietary restrictions and made me feel welcomed. Will be sharing this experience with others who have celiac and/or gluten sensitive, it is difficult to find restaurants who have dedicated fryers! We will be back soon!
Came here on a whim, havent been in a little while. Lydia from the jump made it an experience worth reviewing with her kindness and charisma. The food was so good. Havent been to Grandma moras in at least 5 years. The Sopa was just as good as I remembered it. Lydia suggested the pomegranate margarita and we got 2, they were great. Well be back for Thirsty Tuesday soon! We had fun a on a weekday. I highly suggest Grandma Moras and make sure you ask for Lydia!
I was excited to eat here after always hearing good things. The drinks were weak, the food was bland and I am pretty sure they used canned chicken for the food we received because it tasted like it was a few days old. Service was good. The food was okay and there are just so many better options for the same price and youll find quality food elsewhere. Felt like there was no pride in this food and could make the same stuff at home or even better. Could explain why it was empty on a Friday night.
The waitress was very informative in explaining the menu to our table that included people who had never been there. The portion sizes were good for the price. The owner came to our table and asked how the food was. Leave room for desert...it was delicious, all of the desserts look hand-crafted, cute, and photo-worthy. Definitely recommend for people who dont have a lot of experience with ordering Mexican and want to try something new and authentic.
Very friendly staff. Most people would give it 4 to 5 stars. I’m adopted into a family with Mexican relatives so if you’ve had very authentic Mexican food you know why I gave it 3 stars, but give them a break if you’re used to Mexican food made by anyone and never had Mexican food in Mexico or made by Mexican immigrants you’d give this 4 or 5 stars. They forgot 1 ingredient when they made mine. Support local folks! Oh the sauces yes were amazing. Where in Mexico? Maybe I’m just used to food from Mazatlán and how it’s prepared there. Sorry to say that particular night it tasted Americanized minus the sauces. I’m sure at some point I’ll be back and I always encourage people to support local. Cheese but funny enough that is fine cos I just came to learn I’m lactose intolerant lol. I think you and I could talk about the various ways to make tortillas or tacos in Mexico, only are we just starting to see here the amount of choices that have been down in Mexico forever.
Great food, hands on owners been going there for over 35+ years. Everything is home made and if I have any questions there is always been someone to assist me in my ordering. Ive tried many things on their recommendations. Ive never been dissatisfied. If I were I know it would be taken care of. The drinks are awesome. The atmosphere is perfect. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is fantastic. So if your not sure what to have just ask. The owners will take care. This is a true authentic Mexican restaurant. A local family business. I often stop in for a happy hour drink with friends and enjoy the Mexican pizza. My favorite is the large steak burrito with sides sopa and rice or beans. Its just a great restaurant all around. Nice weather I enjoy the patio quite often!!
Mediocre Food, Terrible Service - Not Coming BackI am a North Buffalo local that lives a short walk from Gramma Moras and have been to this restaurant three times, but there wont be a 4th visit. The first two visits were for dinner and a margarita crawl, with the food being mediocre and slightly overpriced. I would only suggest ordering a margarita if you truly enjoy loads of syrup and sour mix.My most recent visit was last Thursday, when I walked into the restaurant at 7pm sharp with my father and son. Google says Moras is open until 9pm. There were two tables currently seated and one waitress that we could see, who was chatting with some patrons. After five minutes or so at the Please Wait To Be Seated sign, the bartender - who noticed us when we walked in - finally came over, grabbed some menus and sat us. The waitress was still speaking to her one remaining table (the others left) and we sat only two tables down without greeting, drinks, or any acknowledgement for 10-15 minutes before we stood up and walked out.If its a slow night and the kitchens closing early, its understandable to simply notify any patrons who walk in the door that youre closing for the night. Being completely ignored for nearly 15 minutes by a waitress chatting away with another table is unacceptable. Also, the bartender disappeared after seating us and yet another patron walked in and up to the bar during our wait, before leaving after a few minutes. Never coming back.
This place is amazing!!!! Great food and good time...Lorraine Lydia and Jorje are the most amazing and sweetest people on the whole planet, I would recommend these amazing service workers with everything in my bones. This place....good vibes only! Thank you Grandma Moras, I love you and you’re one of the reasons I am still in Buffalo to this day. Thank you.
When I told a few friends about my dismal experience with Grandma Moras this weekend they all said the same thing. Not what it used to be.On Saturday night we were looking for takeout. Wanting to support local business we decided on having Mexican food and went to Google to search for local restaurants. Grandma Moras was reported to be open till 11:00 p.m. now were two months into the Kobe crisis plenty of time to get the website right but no luck I call that 8:45 only to find out that they closed at 8:00 with the promise they would update. Sunday ordered i three dishes chicken avocado taco salad, chili, and a combination of steak and shrimp fajitas for $17. I got to the curbside picked up all the food and even left the tip. I only live 3 minutes away and was disappointed to find that the chili was cold and my steak and shrimp fajitas was just dried out chicken with no steak and no shrimp. Interestingly theres a little sticker saying sealed for quality. Wrong no quality another customer lost
Anna Banana has once again outdone herself! We asked for a dessert with some “razzle dazzle” and she gave us this master piece. The chefs definitely deserve credit here too. One bite into this dessert and I felt the rush of dopamine into my system.I’d be remised if I didn’t mention her beverage creations such as “the coconut”
Been coming to restaurant since opened in Niagara Street with Phil. Watched Liz and Charlie start a family. Always great food with great portions. Unfortunately, not tonight. Food was mediocre at best and barely room temp. Portions also small. Ive never finished a meal. Tonight I did. Liz and Charlie, we hope this was a fluke as we always love coming here.Bonnie and Phil
We went and got on the list to wait for a table (the waiting list was a notebook). We knew it was going to take 40-60 mins. We were ok with that. When the time came we asked and the hostess said wait 15 mins more. When the 15 mins passed we asked again and she said it was going to be another 30-45 mins!!! Ridiculous! The hostess looked clueless. It would be a good idea to invest in a seating system or app to get everything under control and not make people wait for no reason. We ended up leaving of course.
The food was great. The service was great. But, the employees thought at a certain hour, without consult of the guests that it was ok to take their masks off. That made me uncomfortable and your job as an establishment is to make your patrons comfortable. Therefore, 3 stars.
We ordered all this food the guacamole had nothing but thick onions in it and tasted so bland they use a salad spring mix instead of shredded lettuce. My quesadilla had tomatoes very little cheese and chicken in it, no way they seasoned the chicken either there was just no flavor with anything. I usually can go along without Complaining but it was bad and I eat literally anything. This wasn’t authentic Mexican like they offered so that was annoying wasting 50 dollars
Had been really dying to get to this place and glad I was able to finally have the time. I really enjoyed the atmosphere the service was nice and fast. The food was better than what I expected. If you are looking for a fulfilling Mexican meal this is definitely the place to go.
Very underwhelming experience considering I heard so many good things about the place. Our waitress was excellent, but our food wasnt. My friend and I both ordered the Burrito Pollo( I believe that is what it was called), and the entire entree was lukewarm at best, and very dry. The cheese wasnt even melted in my friends burrito. It was still solid! We were dissapointed, but we may give it another shot at some point. Ill have to order something other than the Burritos.
I really disliked my experience here. The staff members did not explain what came with sides and did not. Asked me f I wanted rice/beans, said yes, then was not served them and told they did not come with my meal. I asked for a glass with my beer and 5 minutes later a server slammed the glass down on my table without looking at me. Tacos tasted like Ortega made from home, fine but not worth a restaurant price, did not like the carnitas, but I was expecting shredded pork, so my fault for not asking.
Not the best Mexican food Ive ever had, the service was slow and the charges were shady. I agree with the previous reviewer that the salsa was terrible and almost tasted like marinara sauce. I have gone there twice and both times they have messed up my order. (They will bring you the dinner portion to charge you more when you ordered lunch so be careful.) Also they write down all checks on paper and punch it all in and calculate the tax with a calculator. Both times the woman who had calculated our tax told us we owed over $8 in tax! She did not know what she was doing. The second time we ate there I sat down and walked her through how to the calculate tax (we owed like $2, not $8). I understand its a family owned operation theres a difference between laid-back family atmosphere and plain unprofessional.
I realize how important it is these days to support small businesses - so I am bummed to even write this. I had a terrible experience with the staff at Gramma Moras yesterday. My server, an older woman, barely paid attention to our table. When we needed things, she was rude. I heard her complaining about her employees. We dont go out often because of the pandemic and the one time we did she really ruined our experience. I hope that Gramma Moras takes this to heart and speaks to her about her attitude.
We go to Gramma Moras often, and always have a lovely time. The wait staff is great, the food is yummy, and I just feel at home there as even the owner comes over to chat with you.Thank you for making our dining out experience a good one, and we will see you soon Gramma Moras.
I have been going to Gramma Moras for many years dating back to when they were on Niagara Street on the West Side and can honestly say they have never slippedThe food is fantastic right down to the complementary home made chips and salsa. The sizes of the dinners are big and the prices are really reasonable. From the chorizo tacos to the green chilli enchiladas, I have never been disappointed. They also have karaoke night and painring parties. Check out their website and do yourself a favor, have a meal there, you will not regret it.
The service was pretty good but my food was just okay. I was surprised that the refried beans were chunky (and cold). My chicken chimichanga was alright but I am used to a shredded chicken instead of large chunks of chicken. Its a nice neighborhood restaurant but I cant count it as one of my favorites.
Been coming here for years. Wife loves the salsa. The food to me - so so. Prices since to keep creeping up everytime we go there and the food seems to be inconsistent. Last time I had the green chili pork - Franks hot sauce has more heat. Other times your sweating buckets before your 2nd bite.
Please stay away from this place the food suck big time. Chips and salsa terrible, rice and refried beans bad. OMG the guacamole was black already and you could taste the fake flavor. The Nachos gross, Tacos and enchiladas horrible, I went with one of my friends and he’s Mexican and he also agreed that the food was so bad we couldn’t believe they are still open. There was another group outside that they also commented how bad was the food but we all eat some of it because we were hungry and tired. Please don’t go to this fake place. It’s so sad to see this food given to people in search of good Mexican food. I don’t recommend it to anyone.
We ordered the Gramma Moras Special, Queso Burrito and the Monterreys Revenge - all of which were fantastic! Highly comparable to the top listed Mexican places in buffalo. Prices were also generous for the portions we got. The restaurant is extremely cosy and it was nice to be able to get our own booth on a Saturday night. Our server was very friendly. We finished off with the fried ice cream dessert and that really sealed the deal.
I have been going to Grandma Moras since there was a grandma Mora over on Niagara Street in Buffalo. On Saturday afternoons my store would have closed at 1 so I would go over to Grandma Moras to have a late lunch. This is the time between lunch and dinner so things were slow and Grandma Mora would come out and sit with me while I ate. It was always a good time the food was always good and the prices have never been bad. I was sad when It closed on Niagara Street but was glad when it had reopened on Hertel Avenue. If you want some good Mexican food this is the place to go. There is parking across the street in case you cant park on Hertel Avenue. Go and tell them John sent you.
Outstanding experience yesterday during cinco de Mayo. The staff are multitalented! Not only can the host be so welcoming and accommodating but she can also sing! My kids loved the show and the food was outstanding. Not to mention, the margaritas made by the bartenders were exceptional. Definitely will be stopping by soon.
Omgosh I cant speak highly enough of this place!! The food portions are HUGE!! And the food was out of this world. So delicious. Good and quick service. Everytime I have been here, it has been pretty packed, but was still seated and served in a timely manner. The waitress was friendly and helpful! Cant wait to go back.
If youre looking for authentic Mexican food this not the place you want to go to. My wife and I had been here many years ago and had not been back but we could not remember why. So we thought that we would give it another chance. We went there for dinner and it was my wife, myself and our 2 kids and it was terrible. When we got there they brought us chips and salsa. Those alone should have been an indication to just leave right there because the chips tasted like doritos and the salsa seemed like they dumped a can of tomato sauce in a small bowl and put in two tiny pieces of onion and called it salsa. I ordered the Huevos con Chorizo and it was described as a burrito filled with scrambled eggs, chorizo, onions, peppers, and cheese smothered in red chili sauce. It was brought out drenched in sauce and it did not have any peppers in it. Everything was hot but onions were raw inside. I guess that was how it was supposed to be, but I envisioned sauteed peppers and onions. It came with a random salad and nothing else. No rice or refried beans. My wife got a veggie fajita and said that her fajita was ok, but her sides were terrible. Her sides were rice and something called sopa. Its like angel hair pasta with a red sauce. My wife only took one bite of it and left rest because it was so bad. My kids had chicken fingers and fries which were typically what you would expect with a dish such as that. So in closing, steer clear of this place if you are hungry for some good Mexican food.
I don’t know why people are saying the food is great, this is the worst “Mexican” food I ever had! My family and me barely touched the food. That rice not Mexican style at all, the sauces the flautas, the enchiladas, the tostadas the fish tacos all bad! No really flavor or authentic at all. I had never had to leave a bad review as this one. This place is too Americanized. You guys need to try really Mexican food. Even Casa Azul have better food that you guys. Or go visit Monte Alban in Rochester NY they do have very good Mexican food. People don’t waste your money at this place!!!! I really won’t give any starts but that’s ain’t an option. So disappointed to bring my family here!
Just got an order thru grubhub. Food is horrible. Rice is dry and hard like it was reheated in a microwave. Enchilada tastes werid. Fish taco was decent but no taste. Wife fajitas are sub par. Definitely wont be ordering from here again. Just got back from living California so the fact ur passing this abomination as Mexican food is down right disrespectful**response to owner***Dont give that excuse. Grubhub is literally picked up not too long after the meal is cooked. The rice was definitely microwaved. There was no if and or buts about it. Your enchilada was old and the sauce was gross. I wouldnt be caught dead in your restuarant after your poor excuse of 3rd party service. You may have been doing business for quite a while but your cooks obviously dont care anymore and your food quality shows.
Margaritas were small and overpriced. Not a Spanish person in the restaurant.I dont think they know what pica di gallo is.Got a $40.00 meal for $80.00Rice was bland.Chicken enchiladas were nasty.Carnitas had a salad on top in a flour tortilla.Worst salsa ever!I think I chipped a tooth on the tortillas!Avoid avoid avoid!
Came by for lunch. Waited for someone to seat me for 10 mins. No one was around & place was empty. Sat on patio. Salsa for chips were okay, a little thin.Ordered the beef carnita and it was tasty. Didnt come with the sides like the other meals. My friend said her food was just okay but complained the red sauce wasnt authentic and tomatoey. She did a lot of complaining but shes Mexican and said she could make better authentic food.I liked it and would go again.
Chicken tacos were the worst I ever had ! The chicken was boiled ... The taco bar looked like it was out for hours and no refreshed . The gacamole was bland and the chili con queso looked like it was out of a jar. I was supper disappointed I was really looking forward to trying another great Mexican. The only reason I gave two stars was because everyone that worked there were very friendly!
Our experience here has gotten progressively worse. The service while friendly,is very slow. We were two of 4 people in the restaurant the night we dined and our food was served to us with ICE COLD rice and beans. The server never returned to our table to refresh drinks or see how food was. Sadly, this will probably be our last visit to Grammas. And I say sadly because we have patronized this establishment since they were on Niagara St.
Food was sort of ok... but pricey. Salsa and chips served but Salsa was finely strained. no chunks of anything in it. I think food tasted not as fresh as it should be. they were out of beef. menu had no Tamales or Chile Rellenos... Menu seemed to feature only Burritos, Tacos, and Enchiladas. Finished meal with fried ice cream to try to get rid of stale taste o my pallet. That was even strange... very small portion of ice cream with granola throughout and rolled in it then deep fried. Should have gone to the convenience store and bought an ice cream sandwich. Will not go back and leftovers we took home will probably go into garbage. Would have rather gone to La Tolteca by Eastern Hills mall. The server was good though...and entertaining. Only thing we enjoyed. Restaurant itself had a nice outside but a scummy inside... I kept looking up at the ceiling wondering if the panels were going to fall out. dirty and water stained and some broken. for a place that wants to do business... they really need to clean it up. Almost impossible to find a place to park around there.
The service was great; however, the food was less than par. First my friend got a cup with paint on it and they did replace it but it was the point. My other friend got her carnitas cold and had to send it back to be nuked. Next my friend with the paint cup got a quesadilla when she asked for a Mexican pizza. My enchilada is as dough with topping. And the refried beans are were ice cold. For years I have heard gramma Moras was the place to eat. I was not impressed. And probably wont come back. However, general consensus is the margaritas were good.
Pleasant staff. But Calling it Mexican food feels like a stretch. Chips and salsa seemed store bought. Refried beans appear to be out of a can. The rice had a weird texture. I ordered a burrito it arrived smothered in iceberg lettuce and olives. The meal tasted ok but if youre looking for an authentic Mexican meal look elsewhere.
Went there for the first time today. Food was cold, Margaritas were half full, Salsa was the worst Ive ever had it had the consistency of ketchup and tasted like watered down Marinara sauce. Nachos were stale and could pick up the whole bowl of them by one. Chicken wasnt seasoned at all in Flautas. Refried beans tasted like they came out of a can and had non melted cheese sprinkled on it. Nobody I went with finished even half of their food. Asked for a 2nd Frozen Margarita and they said their blender broke (Only one blender in a Restraunt?) I feel bad for the waitresses that work there I can only imagine the complaints they get.
The ambience was good, mexcian looking all around. We ordered chicken and shrimp fajitias and steak tacos. Both dishes were fresh, dinner portion comes with two sides. We had rice and beans. Food came in 15 minutes,on a monday and the restaurant wasnt packed... i liked that they had chips and salsa on the table for us. I didnt get to see the bill cuz bae paid. But the prices were moderate. Id come here again
The waitress was very friendly. The background music was the best about our experience . The food was bland no flavor. The free nachos and salsa were cold. It doesnt take much time to make fresh hot nachos at a Mexican restaurant. The so called queso we asked for tasted like salsa and nacho cheese mixed .Shame I remember when younger going to Grandma Moras and being the best not sure if new owners or not but I guess I should have had an alchol beverage maybe then I could gave an extra star.
Well, went there on the way from Niagra Falls dispite bad reviews. Was very hungry. Waited 50 minutes for food although place was not busy. Fajita was very, very small and did not look anything like regular fajita you get from mexican restaurant. Also, it was VERY expensive. Will not ignore bad reviews anymore.....
Best part of my experience the Chips and Salsa.Food comes out dripping with grease. NO flavor. Hate my life after eating it.GF ordered virgin margarita, came super chunky. Couldnt drink through a straw.THIS MARGARITA COULD SINK THE F^*&%N TITANIC. Not too mention they charged full price for a non alcoholic one.
Went there tonight and ordered the Montereys Revenge (combo platter with burrito, taco, enchilada, rice, and beans). Tasted really good and plate was big. Outdoor patio was nice. Gave 4 stars because it was a bit expensive at around $16. I will definitely go back and probably order the same thing.
We went to a late dinner on a weekday using a Groupon. We ordered a veggie quesadilla and a veggie burrito, with a side of guacamole for our chips. Guac was pretty bland and overpriced, but I realize avocados are out of season right now, and were in NY, so that could explain the price hike. Entrees were good, and I thought the prices were fair. Service was good, a very friendly server and hostess. Well go back.
Fajitas were average, Quesadilla was unappetizing. They made it with American (aka processed) cheese. the consistency was slimy like Velveeta or Cheez Whiz. Our waitress was very nice, however we had to get the attention of another waitress who gave us a huge attitude about the damn cheese. Once she brought us a new one made with real cheese, it was better... But honestly for $10 I could make 10 better ones at home rather than deal with this hassle.
Gramma Moras is simple authentic homemade Mexican fare. It starts with fresh homemade chips and unique red pepper salsa that’s outstanding. The chorizo is the real deal.If you think the Olive Garden is good Italian then don’t bother coming here. It’s more like the Mexican version of Lebros or Ilio DiPaolos. Excellent fare by families who care about their reputation.
I was sooo excited to get Sopa and when I got home it was no more then angel hair speggettii with no flavor super disappointed bc it does not taste the same as it did back when I had it, I could of made this at home cheaper for the price a paid :( the only good thing was the chips which was a pound and queso.😪😪😪😪😪😪😪
DISGUSTING. Stopped in for a quick appetizer and margaritas with a friend... very disappointed. We ordered a side of queso to dip our chips in... it was a huge bowl of some disgusting orange liquid cheese and was not cheap either. Ive had queso at many restaurants and have never seen/tasted anything of this sort. The server gave us no warning or hint that its not your typical queso.. and when we didnt touch it and left it on the side for her to take she never asked if anything was wrong. We also had ordered 1 order of quesadillas to split, hoping these would be better. Our server brought out 2 orders of them instead. We ate 1 each and didnt like them and politely asked for our check. The server again never asked if anything was wrong even though we had a table full of uneaten food.We drank our margaritas, paid our bill and will never go back. We wanted a quick bite to eat and a drink for cheap and ended up with a $40 bill and stomach aches.
Two stars is generous for this resteraunt. My gf and i walked in at 8pm on a friday to eat dinner and the trashiest club seen i have seen to date was in full force blasting 80s club songs. Noone seated us so we sat ourselves. We order margaritas, which had no alcohol even though threy were rather pricey. The fish tacos and rice required copious amounts of hot sauce before any flavor was present. The re-fried beans were the only reason i did not leave without paying. On top of this my gf walked into their dungeon of a basement bathroom to find a guy walking out of the girls room and a girl fixing herself inside. I am all about supporting local establishments, but this one does not deserve support. Do not go here if you are a normal person who enjoys any type of atmosphere or good food.
Even for lunch, everything looked very fresh and home made. I had the fish tacos and refried beans, my date had chimichanga. They were able to adjust dishes for dietary concerns without a problem. The margheritas were amazing, too! A variety of flavors are available, also.
The salsa tasted like it was a mixture of half salsa, half marinara sauce. I ordered the mexican fried noodles or something like that. I honestly think that the restaurant took some angel hair pasta with marinara sauce and fried it. Did not taste mexican at all. The Chimichanga was ok, but I will not be going back. The next day, I had the worst gas of my life. My wife told me that she literally woke up with tears in her eyes. Later that day, while we were at a gas station, I farted in a car with the windows down, so at least I now have the story of the time I stunk my wife out of a car with the windows rolled down.
My Sister and Brother-in-law recommended this place to my Husband and I and let me say this has to be one of the worst mexican restaurants I have ever been to. The ranchero burritos had absolutely no flavor and the rice was mushy and bland. This was the first and definitely the last time Ill go to Gramma Moras. Also the quesadilla was soggy and the cheese wasnt melted; and then for presentation they sprinkled chunks of cheese on the quesadilla.
Gramma Moras: Imagine the whitest, shittiest mid-western diner youve ever been to. Imagine your eighty year old German grandma whos lost all sense of taste. Then, imagine both attempting to make Mexican food for people who dont like Mexican food. That about sums up this place. I shouldve left when the Eurythmics Sweet Dreams was playing when I entered. I shouldve left when no employees or patrons were at all Latino. But no, I stayed an ordered! I was only at this place cus a date stood me up down the road, and Mexican food shouldve been a comfort. If she came, and I took her to this place for dinner, she would have never called me again. Its not that Buffalo cant do Mexican--El Palenque is amazing! This place is just so cartoonishly bad that it really makes me wonder how it possibly has stayed open for thirty years. The Finest Mexican Fare...ANYWHERE is not just an outright lie, but some kind of alternate-reality sick joke. Stay Away. Hopefully, the diarrhea Ill likely suffer tomorrow will give me a chance to catch up on some reading.
Came in, got a beer while I read the menu..the beer was served flat, the chips and salsa...I judge a Mexican restaurant by its salsa... of course you judge a Mexican place by its salsa.. this is some awful comes-in-a-tub variety.. with the consistency of ketchup.. I returned my flat beer and left. had seen enough.
People very nice and professional great set up, but there food is not authentic, chips out the bag, beans out a can, chicken breast made like an American resturant, more importantly no Mexican or even Latin people work there, price are much more expensive than a Mexican Resturant, do not go if you looking for authentic Mexican food.
Horrible experience the food looked like school lunch .the chicken enchiladas that I ordered were cheese enchiladas and the cook (I use this term very loosely) three chicken cubes outside of the actual enchilada.never eating here again .they also gave someone food poisoning I found out after my experience

2022-06-06Ive been coming here for 30 years. I miss the old place on Niagara but times change. I dont care what anyone says. I love it. Lorraine our usual waitress is so friendly, accommodating and funny af. We always enjoy our meals. Never had a bad experience. Will continue to come here. This place has the best green chili sauce in Buffalo. I also love the vinaigrette. I could drink it. Everything is so fresh and delicious.

2022-06-18My husband and I went to Gramma Moras last Sunday evening, we havent been there in a few years due to COVID, etc., but weve always loved their food. That evening they were very understaffed, but we didnt mind because we were not in a rush and on no schedule. The owner, Liz, kept coming over to apologize and let us know where our food was in the queue, and we let her know we were fine. In the meantime, a rude couple behind us who had eaten their entire meal, complained to the waitress and Liz went over to them and was much nicer than I would have ever been and gave them a huge discount. It takes a great person to be able to deal with people like that and she did an excellent job. When our food did arrive, we started eating it and realized it was close to what we had ordered, but not our exact order. When Liz came over to see how our meals were, we quietly told her it was delicious, but it wasnt what we had originally ordered, but that it was fine and thank you. Ten minutes later she came over with our real order and told us these are your original orders, they are on the house and take them home with you!! We couldnt believe how generous that was of her, we offered to pay for both of them or at least one and she was insistent that she wanted us to have them for being so patient and kind. We left a large tip for her and walked out of there with great respect for this woman and this restaurant. On a day where she was truly exhausted and had to deal with some really rude people, she treated us better than we have ever been treated in most restaurants. If we could give this restaurant 10 stars, we would. Great job Gramma Moras!!!

2022-04-02Completely butchered my order and charged me extra for no reason. Asked for a garden burrito from the menu and reinstated the items on the menu, and was instead charged $24 instead of $14. Also asked for the guacamole to be inside like it says on the menu and was instead given on the side. Also informed them I had a dairy allergy several times and they still included cheese in my food. I also ordered a cheese quesadilla with chicken and was instead charged for a mexican pizza and was given ingredients I don’t want or eat. Want a refund and will never order here again.

2022-07-02Our waitress Lydia is the absolute best!! She was very attentive, and paid extra special attention to the dietary restrictions of our group, going above and beyond to make sure everyone in our party was well taken care of. The food was excellent, if you like a bit of spice make sure to get the green salsa!! Will definitely be back.

2022-07-02Very good food and super friendly staff! So happy to be able to take my celiac child to a Mexican restaurant as he loves Mexican food. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food and commented how wonderful the staff here was. We will definitely be returning!

2022-05-06Its Cinco De Mayo... every Mexican spot in the city was out of control. It was busy the wait was long, our waitress never came to our table..well eventually she did but even with all of that. Our drinks were good, our food was good, once we brought it to their attention that we hadnt been serviced that changed immediately. On days like this its crazy to expect a perfect outing... But it was good enough! Happy Cinco De Mayo...

2022-06-09The food tastes great as always, however I do not recommending ordering through a delivery service. For $19 (menu price not including fees, delivery and tip) I ordered the Chimichanga dinner which is described as served over a bed of lettuce and tomatoes. I had maybe 5 shreds of lettuce and 5 small pieces of tomato. The delivery order does not come with chips and salsa like you would get in the restaurant. Not a good value for your money. I would recommending eating in or ordering for somewhere else. We were so disappointed.

2022-02-19We went for a friends birthday, I cant give a better review. The service was AMAZING, everyone was so incredibly friendly and learned everyones name and joked with us. The food was good and the margarita tubes put me in the perfect mood to celebrate. Ive never been here before but this place is a must-go. Thank you guys so much for the amazing experience!

2022-06-04Meh is the best word to describe Gramma Moras. If the patio wasnt open, we would have left because the moment you open the door the overwhelming stench of an old wet basement hit us in the face. The salsa has the consistency of cheap bottled spaghetti sauce which was odd, and the flavor was....meh at best. Chips were okay, but they were not very generous with the salsa or chips. They also may have been understaffed, but service felt pretty slow. If youre willing to go to the suburbs instead? We all agreed that unfortunately Gramma Moras isnt what we remembered and La Tolteca a on Transit in Williamsville beats them in every category hands down....just no comparison. If were down that way again, hungry, and had NO other choice we would eat there again, but other than that? Theres no reason to go back.

2022-05-15Delicious vegetarian options. Owners Charlie and Liz are very nice people who have created a family atmosphere. Everything is homemade. Charlie even makes his own chili powder for his sauces. The green chili sauce is perfectly spicy. I highly recommend the Weter Burrito dinner, named after Charlies uncle Weter. The Bean Ranchero is also very good. My favorite dinner might be the Garden Plate Combination. So good! The Poncho Villa with beans is in a class by itself. There are even more vegetarian options on the menu! Gramma Moras also has vegan and gluten free options available. For me, this restaurant is a safe haven in a city that is not very vegetarian friendly. Thank you Gramma Moras!
