Ive gone to other JCPenney Portait locations and had a better experience.. it was ok but I have just had better. I didnt feel the photographer was great with my toddler, we went for the Santa event so they were busy but It was all over the place a lot of waiting and in the end my kid had a meltdown and i couldnt even be mad about it. They also charged someone else for my pictures and after i pointed it out i had to wait another 15minutes for the problem to be fixed with a kicking screaming 2yearold in my arms.
This is our 3rd year coming back for our end of year family portrait! The camera crew are very professional and extremely good with children!!!!!! They make sure my kids are smiling on every shot! ***NEVER go in without a coupon or deals*** regular prices are ridiculously high compare to deals or price after coupons. Also, you are going to be charged with membership fee per person (*unless you got Groupon) which lasts 2 years $30. Without the membership, they will charge $15 per person. We were a family of 4 and were charged $60 so we did the membership.Again ***NEVER go in without a coupon or deals***!!!!
First I would like to mention that this is my first time ever writing a review in my almost 27 years of living but I feel like it is my absolute duty to warn future customers of the unprofessionalism at JCPenney in Garden City. My experience was a Horrible experience !!! I took my 2 month old daughter to get her pictures taken. The staff were not inviting nor were they kid friendly. As the pictures were being taken the staff were not engaging,they did not try to make my daughter laugh or smile so her father and I tried our best. Every time it was time to prop and/or adjust my daughter it was either myself or her father doing it I felt like I did more work than the staff . The photographer especially was very dry and acted as if she didn’t want to be there. My daughter had two outfit changes of which there were only about 4-5 pictures taken per outfit and the pictures were horrible. My daughter was not smiling in not one pic in fact she was either crying and/or frowning. When presented the pictures to choose from I had to bite my tongue and let her father choose the pictures as I HATED them and did not want to be rude so I just walked away and proceeded to get my daughter dressed. The props and backgrounds were very dull and boring, the poses were very limited for kids my daughters age which is somewhat understandable. It was just horrible . All though we purchased pictures I wish we hadn’t and it has nothing to do with the money it was just the principle. I would never go there to get pictures done or recommend to anyone else. I wish I would of read th reviews before my session but you live and you learn.
I wouldnt even give this place 1 star! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I have two girls, 3 years old and 18 months old. They are very well behaved girls and never have endured such horrible circumstances. It started with my appointment being at 10 am and was told they were running a few minutes behind and was not taken into a room until 10:30, a half an hour late. When I asked numerous times when I was next I was told I was next and people were taken before me, that were there after me and had later appointment times. During the photography shoot, the photographer was changed 3 times. And I was the one who was getting my children to stay put. You would think they would be professional. After this we were told we had to wait AGAIN. They had to review your photos with you, which were GARBAGE, since the change of photographer. We waited another 30 minutes to even see the pictures, as people ahead of me were taking 30 minutes to go through their pictures. I thought it was supposed to really be a quick experience and it seemed as if they had no flow to anything at all. I was hardly even able to review the pictures, as my 18 month old was having a full on melt down, which was rightfully so. So I choose a few images and then was brought to the register to pay which of course was the fastest part of the experience. After returning home and thinking about it I decided, I shouldnt have paid for anything like this, so I called to get my order refunded and they told me I had to come back with the receipt to do that...WORST WORST WORST WORST WORST place I have ever been to. HORRIBLE and RUDE employees and customer service. I would never recommend this place to any one!
Had the absolute worst experience here for our daughter’s second birthday photos. The staff is unfriendly and not welcoming. The “photographers” are not engaging do not help get the best photo possible. You spend more time trying to get your child to respond. Our “photographer” ended our session stating “ this just isn’t happening today you should reschedule “. Although we purchased the photos. I will not be using this location ever again or recommending it to anyone we know. JCPenney if you happen to read this review I suggest you fix you staff ASAP.
Eh this place isnt that good. Spent $130 for digital pictures without any photo shop edits. My sons school pictures last year with prints, photo shop edits and pretty much all services were $80. Im never going back to this place. Much rather hire a local photographer.
If you’re coming here to take holiday photos make sure you schedule the earliest session! I believe that’s 8am (and get there on time!) That is the only way you’ll be seen at your appointment time! Pictures are ok, not great but ok. But what do you expect really? It’s JCPenney. Get the groupon for $30 make the earliest appointment and you won’t be too disappointed. I’ve been going to JCPenney for holiday photos for the par 3 years, each year thinking it’ll be better than the last but I am disappointed every year. Photographers are nice enough but the direction is poor and the poses and props are limited. Only thing that gets better is my daughters temperament bc she’s of course getting older. But follow the tips above and you’ll be ok. For $30 the photos are good enough to make my holiday card which is the entire purpose of the session.
Drove from BK all the way to LI for a horrible experience. My boyfriend and I needed professional photos taken for our medical residency applications so we traveled to LI because we thought based on these reviews that we would have a more enjoyable experience. Not the case. The photographer took all of our photos in about 1-2 minutes (no joke). She did not stop to fix our hair, or re-shoot photos that one of us had our mouth open. When we saw our photo gallery I was not surprised at how horrible they had turned out and was pretty upset. The sales woman skimmed through my photos quickly and made me choose my one digital image in less than a minute as well. Very dissatisfied with this service especially considering all the money and time we spent. This was my only day to have photos taken but now I have to figure out how I will make time for a re-shoot in addition to funding another photo session elsewhere. STAY AWAY!
The opportunity to purchase a disc of pics for $89 showing your family is wonderful. The good news is I didnt have to choose which pics I wanted. I received them all. They were beautiful. The staff was professional, helpful and understood exactly what I was looking for great work from JC Penney.
Worst place ever. Scheduled a photo session for 7 and they would not honor doing the shoot after I called multiple times and they didn’t answer to let them know I was running late by 10 minutes - 15 min, we were coming from Huntington with our one year old. They were still doing a photo shoot with another family and not finished with them. And they refused to see us and do anything. I explained to her I made a cake and we have no other time to come back and do this if they could help us out and they refused to do anything. I will not return here, I’ve never had this bad of an experience anywhere and I’m so upset.
Ive had 2 photoshoots there for my little one. The newborn photos were better because the ladies did multiple poses in each photo frame . Meanwhile for the holiday photos the photographer staged far less photos.I had to push to get my 20 poses for the baby for the holiday
I brought my 3 years old daughter to take her birthday picture.The person work here is so rude and inpatient.The pictures are fuzzy,so I only pick 3 pictures.But they want me pay $99.99 for this 3 picture,plus $30 for 2 person in the session.It doesn’t make any sense you pay $130 for only 3 poor quality pictures.The girl is so rude said:oh,you have to pay …She is really rude and make me feel so scared.I ask her to call the manager, she refused.And then I told her I won’t pay for that,if you don’t call the manager, I need to call the police .Very bad experience here,don’t go there,they don’t pay attention on the pictures,but try to scam and threat at you.This is a GANG STYLE photo studio.
I dont usally give reviews on businesses but this one i really had to warn potential clients. Beware of this place. I am giving one star because zero is not an option. Worst worst worst! customer service. The staff i found to be very unprofessional and rude. When called to review our pictures i was told on the walk back to make it quick because she wants to clock out. I was shocked. The whole experience was unpleasant from start to finish. Its very obvious that they all hate their jobs pretty much. Pictures were horrible and i would not recommend this place.
I took my 2 month old here for photos and the staff were very inexperienced and did not do a good job with his pictures. I had to keep adjusting him and changing his position like I was the photographer. It was very unpleasant experience especially when youre coming with with an infant . It was mentally and physically exhausting.
Lets start with never again am i going here we made an appointment to wait a half hour then we took pictures then they made me wait a whole hour just to get them we left the house at 3:45pm i didnt make it home u till 7pmThe 350 pound manager moved very slow not suprised thoughYou couldnt pay me to come back hereIf there was a negative in stars this place would have it ill die in my grave before i come back

2022-01-29Always an great experience. Now theyve taken over the optical store next door for customer waiting. So much more space than being cramped in the original waiting area.Our family does New Year photos instead of Christmas and it was still a lot of people...Staff is pleasant, and helpfull as always... with Groupon its even better...

2022-03-11Good experience during the photo shoot but I did not receive digital pictures for one week I was told I would get in 24 to 48hr. I called them and nobody picked, I left message and there was no response. Terrible experience and lack of communication. Never happen in about 5 other stores that I have visited.

2021-11-22I was there yesterday for our annual pictures but this year experience was horrible it is better to go a professional studio instead of jcpenney, my daughter had 3 shots w her eyes close eventhough we told the person that she close her eyes still she ignored her and said her eyes were ok. Then when they show us the digital shots they were to quick that i couldnt catch on this errors so when i call them to find a solution they didnt give me any solutions only that i could take again the session and pay again the full price i asked them if they could take only those 3 shots where my daughter has her eyes closed but they didnt want to do it. Worst place dont waste your money it better paying a little bit more and go to a professional studio.

2021-12-03Last year we waited 1 1/2 past our appointment to take pictures. We waited and the pictures were ok. This year we arrived 5 minutes late and they told us they would not take the pictures. We had children with us and could not believe that they refused to work with us over 5 min. Will never return to the Roosevelt Field Mall location.

2021-06-19I been using JCPenny since my older sons was kids. I was so excited to go with my first daughter. It was the best photo shoot. I loved how the pics turned out. Only problem was due to Covid restrictions I have to wait two weeks to receive my pics in the mail.

2021-05-08It’s unfortunate that people can be so cold-hearted. After over 3 years of taking pictures with JC Penney I can say this is the first time I have been disappointed and disgusted with the service at this location. My family and I had an appointment set for 4:45pm. Because of Mother’s Day weekend it took us longer than we expected to get inside the mall. We were 10mins late. We show up and are told “you’re late, so we have to see if we can fit you in” I didn’t think anything of it until other groups started showing up and being attended to. When I asked for assistance I was told I could no longer be seen because other scheduled appointments were showing up. After going back and forth with one of the representatives whom kept referring to my lateness as if it were a crime, I asked for the manager. Erica unfortunately she was no help. I explained to her I was not told to arrive 10 mins early and have never experienced this treatment in the 3 years I’ve been coming here. I begged her to make an exception and fit us in because it was Mother’s Day and my Husband’s birthday but she didn’t care. 😡 😔JC Penney you just lost a loyal customer!

2020-09-27Poor customer service! I would NOT recommend this Garden City location. I went for residency head shot and they knew the value of the picture as they bragged about how they have been getting a lot of those lately. The photographers did not engage with me during the shoot to try and get the best pictures possible. They didnt care to try in my opinion. I had 2 photographers -- I asked for a reshoot because I was so dissatisfied with the first one. I have been to other JCPenney Portraits and had wonderful customer service. I will not be returning to this location again!

2020-02-10The wait was terrible. I don’t understand the point of having an appointment to have to wait a hour to be seen. By that time my 3 month old was getting sleepy and irritable. Very disappointment in my photos. The photographer was mediocre and barely spent any time on our session. My fiancé is tall and they cut his head off in photos instead of trying different poses to accommodate. The photographer allowed us to take photos with our clothes not in the proper place as well as hair. I just feel like they didn’t care and only wanted us to spend money on trash photos. Very very disappointed and will never gonna back to this location if I ever have to go back to JCPenneys.

2020-01-14We went for holiday photos here. During the holidays it is very normal for stores to be crowded and this was no exception. The wait was very long. They give you about 5-10 minutes of actual studio time which is very hard with young children. Their photos are decent and their staff is friendly. For the price on groupon it was worth it, paying a full studio price would not be worth it.

2020-02-10Oh my god worst photographer ever, so slow did not capture any of my signs smiles did not even try I take better photos with my cellphone on top of that she left twice than after she told me she got the photos we waited 45 minutes to view them, oh god she took 6 photos not of his smiles most with his eyes shut it was a mess. I will never return here again I was so disgusted with the service. I felt like The photographer has 0 to no experience. She was so slow and almost didn’t know what she was doing with the camera for god sakes I wanted to snap the photos my self. Do not go here. Waste of time.
