I usually prefer to use local companies but I came in today to buy some steaks and baked goods. I approached an older Italian or Hispanic woman with a heavy accent, behind the bakery counter measuring plastic cutlery. Her response was “I’m very busy!”. Which is fine I don’t mind waiting for her to finish what she was doing, she continued by being extremely rude to myself and her coworkers yelling at them to help me and after she yelled to me “what do you want?!” I decided to leave. My family and I will be shopping elsewhere now.
Great but not. Staff is mostly rude although the guys by the meats are never. I spent a lot of money on skirt steak because they weigh it without trimming the fat so i will never get that from here again. The store isnt dirty its just run down although it wouldnt kill the cashiers to wipe down the belts once in awhile. Can never get lunch here though, the food looks great for the most part but between the deli sections attitude, the long lines,, and the long lines to pay and sometimes only 1 register open there isnt enough time in my break.
The best grocery store/deli/butcher/catering.I have been going to Joes for almost 2 decades (before they expanded and opened the fish market) they have great prices on produce, meat, prepped food and deli cuts. Their prepped food is delicious. The Best chicken cutlets, fried or grilled, you have to taste them. Meatballs and sauces we buy all their prepped food and it makes dinner fast and easy all week.We use Joes for catering as well and they are fantastic. I highly recommend going stopping there if you are in the neighborhood. Enjoy!
Great family owned business that serves authentic Italian food. Ive been going there for years and the place just gets better and better. They may not have a huge produce section, but the guy who maintains it has been there for years and his attention to detail makes it one of the best. The marinated hanger steak is a summertime favorite on the grill.
I love Joe’s normally, but I just went to get a sandwich from there, and they are not taking Covid seriously. An employee working at the deli counter was not covering his nose in his mask. The deli counter sells food that will be immediately consumed by people without reheating. I am nervous for all of my community members who shop here, and could potentially spread Covid to their families and community.
Not saying they don’t have good meat . But when I ordered one skirt steak and they threw it on the scale before they cut it and charged my daughter for all that fat. You don’t do that to your faithful customers shame on them. A piece of meat that should of cost 15.00 came out to 27.00 . Never go again
The shopping carts are near the Little East Neck Rd. Entrance. The parking lot is across the street from the side entrance. There are carts kept near the side entrance, but they are chained up. Getting the door open and then maneuvering the cart is a bit difficult as you have to walk in and pull the cart in behind you. The meat is great as is the bakery.
Im a Sicilian woman from Bensonhurst... I live here in West Babylon... I noticed that there are not many Italian Salumerias around... Except for Joes Food Market... I was impressed with their store and the quality of their products and prepared foods... I also love their cakes and cookies
I’ve lived down the block for over three years and I’ve stopped in here from time to time to buy incidentals, milk, eggs that sort of stuff. I was on the same errand on my way home from work tonight and with a bunch of bananas in my hands, someone, presumably from the store’s management stops me and says “no backpacks in the store.”I was flabbergasted because i’ve been there before and never heard of anything like this except at airports and the like, so he repeated himself and I said “...what?” And he said “your backpack,” pointing to it, “you can’t have it in the store.” I was still very confused and said “what do you want me to do with it?” And he said to leave it in the front of the store. I had already gotten my items and was on my way out. He said it’s ok “this time” but to remember for the future. I assured him there wouldn’t be a future because there’s plenty of places to buy groceries.Am I making a big deal? I really don’t think so, it’s supposed to be a family spot. They have CCTV cameras everywhere, EBT rules on the registers and apparently now, a no backpack rule. Here comes the cliche white guy phrase - I pay a lot of money in taxes, I don’t need this. Stay clear and go to CVS across the street or there’s another meat market literally across the street as well. If you need anything more than that, go to a real grocery store. It won’t be long before this bodega is selling “loosies” and Old English.
The service is slow....the lines are Long...the staff is not friendly especially behind the counter....everything is overpriced and the Sausage I bought had so much grizzle it was terrible....CJs Meats are definitely better and more fairly priced...I WOULD NEVER GO BACK THERE AND ALSO THEIR BAKERY PRODUCTS ARE TERRIBLE...I WILL.GO TO A REAL BAKERY NEXT TIME THAT JUST DOES CAKES.......

2022-05-21Been going there for over 20 years. Italian food specialties and still the biggest lunch heroes you can get compared to most deli shops and food chain places. The butcher shop is good and I have never got a bad cut . All and all good old fashioned butcher shop.

2022-04-27It’s unfortunate, they make a good sandwich but many employees have bad attitudes and blatantly don’t want to deal with people. “Foods of Italia” is far superior in this aspect. Friendly & thankful to be there. My new go-to

2022-05-31The owners son-in-law is so nasty I was there yesterday I kindly asked him if he can help me with something he started yelling that he was taking care of another customer, no reason to raise your voice been shopping there for 20 years no more. He needs to change his attitude.

2021-12-19I wanted to order, and pay for, IN FULL, IN ADVANCE, 2 party heroes for my sons group home over the phone. sorry, has to be in person. So I explain to THE OWNER that its for my sons group home and I have a close contact with someone with Covid and they still wouldnt take my order. In fairness, their foods are delicious even if they are aggressively unfriendly. Ill be spending my money elsewhere.

2021-12-17This establishment has become my weekly route, the bread they bake is the best I have eaten in Long Island, I usually bought it at the supermarket, and the truth is, I would not digest it very well, until I discovered what it is now my favorite Italian bread. I recommend it!!!

2021-09-26Joe’s is the best. Food is amazing, and at a great price. Where else are you gonna get a 2 pound heavy hero of excellent chicken parmesan for 8$? Their cannolis are heavenly, as well as all the other offerings from the bakery. Tried so many different things, and they’ve all been good. High-quality food at great prices.

2021-10-28Catering order was just okChicken Francese are usually whole or 1/2 pieces of chicken cutlets not bits and pieces from whatever part of the chicken or leftover cuts.It didn’t look very appetizing and some people at the party asked where I got that. The other items were good. The Lady with a heavy Spanish accent was very unfriendly and rude.I know this place for many years and go there frequently. But Service really declined here.

2021-05-28Joe’s has good quality 85% of the time. Every so often I go in and it seems like they forgot they own a store. The rest of the time it is fantastic. Service in sub par except for the butcher and deli. In those two areas, they are awesome and very helpful. It’s like they’re almost awesome. I will continue to frequent this place.
