We chose Joshua as our wedding photographer because he has a journalists eye for capturing small moments and the essence of people. At our wedding, he photographed quiet or hidden moments that might otherwise have gone unnoticed, and his photos of our friends and family are so true to their personalities that it looks like hes known them for years. Joshua is also very skilled at dealing with unusual lighting situations -- and he uses light in such a way that some of his photos look like paintings. He also has a keen ability to herd family members into posed photos within minutes... even seconds... and take beautiful portraits in a flash. We are so grateful for his talent and skill!

Joshua Brown Photography shot our wedding at Boscobel House & Gardens in Garrison, NY in September 2017 and we could not be happier with the results and our decision in Joshua and his team. Looking through our wedding album, we were so moved and grateful that Joshua and his team had captured not only the big, beautiful scenes of happiness, but also the quieter moments of intimacy and love throughout the night. Blue Hill at Stone Barns was magical —the perfect backdrop — and Joshua photographed our guests interacting with the scenery so beautifully. We loved our video! Our photographers recommended Joshua capture video of our special day, and it really was everything wed hoped for. Our celebration was in July 2017 at the beautiful Maple Shade Farm in the Catskills. Our interactions with Joshua prior to the event were professional and reassuring. On the day of, we were hardly aware of Joshuas presence, yet he managed to capture all the right moments beautifully. And his editing job was second to none - the final product was heart-felt and reflected exactly the mood wed asked him for. Turn around time was as promised. And, to top it off, Joshua went out of his way (in a big way!) after the wedding day to fulfill an urgent special request for certain footage that we needed. If you want a video for your special day, you will be very happy with Joshua and his team.
I am ecstatic that we chose Joshua to shoot our wedding this past weekend in the Catskills. He is the ideal vendor: calm, organized, communicative and professional. When I was running around the week before our wedding, I scheduled calls with all of our vendors to make sure we had everything we needed and everyone else had a laundry list of things for me - except Joshua. You can rest assured that hes got everything covered which is such a relief when planning a wedding.We loved that hes not a fan of corny group shots and loved the broody tone of his photos which is why we booked him. But after viewing the first round of photos he gave to us from our wedding I see there is so much more - he found pockets of light and areas of our venue that I would have walked right past. Some of the photos I was skeptical about during the shoot (like standing in an outcropping of ferns) are my favorite. I was also shocked to get the first wave of photos two days after our wedding. They were everything I had hoped for and they arent even retouched yet. Also looking through the crowd shots - I think he managed to capture every single one of our guests in a meaningful way. I am so impressed with the moments he caught on film and the happy expressions he captured on everyones faces.I also appreciated that as the night was ending, he checked in with me to see if there was anything else I wanted captured. I felt like he really cared that we got everything we were hoping for out of working with him.I cant recommend him enough - Thank you so much for capturing our special day.
At first look of Joshuas portfolio when I was conducting my search for our wedding photographer (I cant say how much I value photos of significant life events) I teared up a little bit - they were beautiful, uniquely authentic, non pretentious, and full of love and life. It turned out that all those qualities were not only true, but also exceptionally valuable combining with Joshua and his teams professionalism, charisma, and ability to let us not to worry anything regarding our photos and video and logistics around them, just focusing on enjoying the once in a lifetime experience.They are extremely pleasant to work with, and Joshua knows how to make us feel at ease and natural. Whats also amazing about Joshua was he can somehow make himself invisible while doing an awesome job right near us. At our wedding, we did what we wanted to do - enjoy with our friends and family. From the very beginning, working with Joshua was an absolute pleasure. We started by setting up a Skype call and just chatting about what we were looking for and the services he could provide--he and his team do it all. He also quickly provided two past references that showed us their galleries and explained their experience working with him. We ended up booking Joshua along with a second photographer, videographer, & photo booth.When we met Joshua for our engagement shoot, he was very easy to talk to and fun to work with. He worked quickly and was able to direct us through the engagement shoot getting all the shots we wanted as well as ones that he thought would look good.On the day of the wedding, it was as if Joshua and his team were not even there. His camera doesnt make any shutter noises so even during quiet times during the ceremony you didnt hear him. As a matter of fact, he blended in so well that we didnt even know where he was at times. Just like at the ceremony, Joshua and his team blended into the reception taking great shots but also somehow were always around when a group wanted to take a posed shot!Turnaround time on the photos and video were great. We received a first look preview of photos within 2 weeks and our highlight video the week after. All photos were fully edited within a month!I cant speak highly enough about working with Joshua and the quality of his work. He is well worth every penny he charges.
In preparation for our Los Angeles wedding in May 2015, we searched high and low for the best photographer. We were going for a budget wedding, but we splurged on the photographer. IT WAS SO WORTH IT. His pictures made our reception and wedding look more beautiful than I even remember it. And best of all, he really captured amazing candid moments with just about every click of his camera. Hiring him was the best wedding prep decision we made. These pictures are now one of my greatest treasures. I will be buried with them. He was very professional and easy going. After our marriage ceremony, we were running late to meet him for another photo session. He was patient, yet helped us get the most out of the limited time that we had. My hair was getting a bit frazzled and my dress started to wrinkle, but somehow he was able to make everything look perfect. The wedding video they made for us is very well done. Joshua’s team was very friendly and pleasant to work with, and they are all incredibly skilled. They were also very prompt to respond to questions and to send us pictures, etc. Right after the wedding party ended, Joshua sent us some of the highlights so we could enjoy them over the honeymoon. We were in awe of how stunning the pictures turned out to be. We are in love with Joshua Brown Photography. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Joshua and Erin captured our day perfectly!! I was able to experience my wedding all over again through the photos!! They managed to capture everyone there!! Great shots of us dancing and laughing and all the love was just conveyed perfectly! Could not recommend him enough!
A for photography and videography for my Wedding on May 2, 2015 without actually meeting him in person and I am so glad i did. Joshua and his team took amazing, breath taking photos of my Wedding. On the big day I showed up an hour late ( due to my unprofessional hair stylist ) to my venue and was in a frantic state of mind. My mind was put at ease once I saw Joshua was there with my now husband laughing and joking with each other. Although the hour of photograpy I missed by being late cost me some dear photos I wish I could have captured, Joshua and his team were super professional, snapping away the moment I stepped foot in the door of my venue, and didnt stop until the moment it was over. They were pleasant and very low key. Ignore the review written that states Joshua acted bored and didnt put in any effort. That was certainly not true at my wedding. Joshua put in a lot of effort to get the best pictures, I even saw him jumping on and off of a chair to make sure he captured every person in the room. In 2 days it will be my 1 year anniversary and I cant stop looking at the beautiful video and pictures joshua captured. There are certain aspects of a wedding you can skimp on but do yourself a favor and make sure you book a professional like Joshua to photograph your wedding. Those memories will last forever and bring back all the joyous memories you experienced on that special day. I am super happy I went with my gut and hired Joshua, he is passionate about his work and it shows. Take my advice and book him and his team for your wedding, I promise you wont be disappointed.

Joshua photographed my wedding this past June and I recently received the proofs and I could not be more pleased. I got married at Onteora Mountain House in upstate New York on a sunny afternoon and Joshua really captured the beauty of the day. I was amazed at all of the different angles he got of the ceremony since he didnt work with a second photographer--he didnt miss one single emotion. I loved seeing how he used the natural lighting and the shadows throughout the afternoon to complete a full spectrum of different looks and moods. The pictures are real and down to earth and feel like the perfect representation of how I remember the day. Our collection of photos, from the portraits, to the ceremony, to the party, and candid shots, is varied and interesting. Joshua is an exceptional photographer and a true professional. Joshua Brown and his team helped make our wedding at Hasbrouck House seamless and magical! They were professional and organized, blending into the crowd perfectly and never intruding on our time or experience. When planning our wedding we knew the one thing we could not do was make it last forever, but we could try to find a photographer/videographer that could do the next best thing. Once all the celebrations were over we received our gallery link just days after and immediately knew we had made the right choice. Wedding photos and video are something everyone cherishes forever but what Joshua provided are more than just images, they capture the emotion overwhelming me as I walked down the aisle, the incredible joy of our families as they all celebrated together, and all the little details and moments that made our day incredible, allowing us to relive it over and over. I would without a doubt recommend them to anyone looking for a photographer/videographer who goes above and beyond!
We decided to skip NYC city hall and pop up to Beacon/Newburgh for the day to have a quiet ceremony in the beautiful countryside. What an excellent decision. Joshua helped us connect with local vendors to make the afternoon special but kept it low key and intimate. He also scouted some lovely locations for photos and the ceremony. And the photos! So gorgeous, a wonderful keepsake of a special day for us. The turnaround time for the images was immediate and not a day has gone by that my partner and I havent looked through the photos together. If youre thinking city hall or or big blowout but its stressing you out, trust your gut and go with the romantic, intimate ceremony in the woods. 13/10 would do again.
Josh and his team were phenomenal to work with throughout our engagement, wedding planning, during the day of the wedding and following our wedding. Josh himself is, in our opinion, an extremely talented photographer who has the ability to not just capture an image, but to frame it in a way that captures a memory and the feelings associated with that moment. Almost a year after our wedding, we and our friends and family can look at Joshs work and instantly remember how surreal our special day was. We were so lucky to have found Joshua! As we planed our wedding in New York we had no recommendations in the area. Found him online and as soon as we saw his portfolio we were so impressed. My husband and I just received our photos for portraits, ceremony and reception and they are stunning! Weve shared with family and friends and they all are also so impressed. He has a keen eye to capture great casual moments without being in your face, we didnt even notice him much around at the wedding but after looking at the photos he was everywhere and capturing great natural moments with our family and friends. Exceptional! As I review our prints, it is like being at the wedding all over again. Joshua is professional in every respect - attire, selection of shots, and unobtrusive. We never had cameras glaring in our faces. Yet, the results make my heart sing. He captured our special day perfectly. Too bad I only have one child; I would use him again in a heartbeat! Joshuas attitude, demeanor, unobtrusiveness and photos were exemplary! My wife and I are about to celebrate our first anniversary, and we have enthusiastically and frequently shared and viewed Joshuas photos from our wedding day last spring. The video is outstanding in that Joshua presciently shot and ultimately edited the video to capture the most meaningful moments of our wedding day!
We got married in Los Angeles in May 2016. Out of all the vendors we hired for our wedding, including the awesome mariachi band, were happiest with what Josh did for our wedding and our memories.Josh’s greatest strength lies in his ability to capture candid and personal moments that can’t be planned or staged. Of course, he’ll cover all of the traditional family and friend group shots, the first dance, cutting the cake, bouquet toss, etc etc. He’s great at staging those. But the photos we and our guests love the most from our wedding are the ones in which the people in the frame are just being themselves, enjoying the moment, unaware of the photographer. In that sense, Josh is great about floating around the festivities, mingling with guests and not making a big show of being a professional photographer.Josh was great in terms of coaching us through the day. We had a lot of help from friends and family. But whenever we were on the spot, (which happened a lot that day) with everyone staring at us, watching our every move, Josh , with his calm and reassuring demeanor, talked us through it all and even rescued us from a couple potentially embarrassing moments.Finally, as for the pictures themselves – I really didn’t imagine any of the photos or videos would live up to the reality of that day. Photos and videos almost never do. But they were really beautiful and captured the moments that we want to remember. They also helped us see our festivities and friends and family from perspectives that obviously escaped our attention. (Everything was a bit of a blur that day.)We highly recommend hiring Josh for your occasion, if you have the chance.
My (now) wife and I had an elopement with Joshua, his wife Rebecca and videographer Jessica at the Glynwood Farm last September. We met at the farm, exchanged greetings and started to pick out a site for the ceremony. We completed the ceremony with Joshua and Jessica blending into the surroundings without obtrusion. Afterwards, we started walking and driving around to find scenes to capture. It was smooth because Joshua knew this farm very well. He was succinct and effective at giving instructions for posing without getting in the way. He made very good use of the environment around us to great effect, with minimal intervention and staging, and brought out genuine emotions. His photography is natural and serene. We finished the scenes just a bit under 3 hours, and it was very nice for him to drive with us back to Beacon to snap a few more pictures, quite a few of which became our favorites.Jessica did our videography and album design. She was quiet and attentive. We iterated over a few versions of each during the post-processing, and the results came out really well. I really liked ending up choosing a minimal set of ~70 photos out of 300 to fit in 60 pages, per their suggestion. It was hard, but every photo came out splendidly large, rich and detailed. Jessica was also able to use my pre-recorded song as the background soundtrack to fit in the final video, and adjusted the rhythm of the scene changes off of that. It just came out to be a really unique piece, closer to our hearts than any other generic production.It was overall a really pleasant experience having them being part of our special day and working with them through the process. For couples intending to plan out their own elopements, remember to plan it like a bigger wedding, go over those checklists beforehand, meet and greet the officiant in person, be prepared to get overwhelmed, and Joshua with his team will do an excellent job at capturing those sentimental moments! You’ll love how they come out.

Joshua photographed our sons Bar Mitzvah — outside, atop a mountain, in the late morning sun — and though it was his first Bar Mitzvah, he beautifully captured all the meaningful moments of the service. Joshua was a dream to work with! We met with a bunch of photographers prior to meeting with him and when he showed up to meet us with a handshake and a helmet in the middle of Central Park we knew we met our match. For our Long Island wedding at the Cold Spring Country Club, he captured not only the big moments, but the tiny details in between. He doesnt carry crazy lighting and screens, he doesnt need to. What he did with natural light is beyond amazing. Joshua gave us exactly what we were looking for, the ability to relive our wedding day through each and every photo. Gifted and genuine to a T.
My fiancee and I had a picked out a location in the mountains that is special to us both. We werent sure how it would turn out as it is starting to become spring but nothing is blooming and the snow that is still around is not very fresh. The pictures turned out fabulous! The background wasnt distracting from our pictures but looks awesome and very well blended. The quality of the photographs is amazing and we got to view them all online by the next night! We are really pleased with how they turned out.I also appreciated that Josh encouraged a lot of natural poses (i.e. photographed as we interacted like we normally would) but then gave great coaching when a chin needed to be tilted down or head cocked in a different direction, which resulted in very stunning photos. He has some serious photography skills and made us feel very comfortable. It was really a really fun shoot

2022-06-14Joshua took absolutely beautiful photographs of our wedding. He knew all the tricks in the book to get our stunning photographs done quickly and without taking up too much of our precious wedding day. Beyond our gorgeous photos, the best thing was the turnaround time. He got us our photos so quickly that my friends were shocked. He is fantastic and we would highly recommend him.

2022-01-24Feel very lucky that Joshua Brown Photography took beautiful photos of my daughter at her preschool. I never imagined *school pictures* to bring me to tears. His photographs captured her WHOLE 2 year old personality and we loved them! He was professional and his turnaround was shockingly fast. Even ordered Christmas cards directly from his website!

2017-10-29I didnt realize how important our photographer would be until the day was over and because of a mix of adrenaline/gin and tonics I barely remembered anything. Waking up the next day I felt kind of sad until I saw our BEAUTIFUL photographs which Joshua turned around in a just a few days. Suddenly all the amazing memories from that day came flooding back to me! Joshua and his assistant captured the personalities of our guests and the vibe of the wedding perfectly. I was so grateful he was able to work with us to find a package that fit our budget. We chose him because we wanted pictures of people and moments not a bunch of posed portraits and stuff and he delivered that to a t. He was totally unobtrusive and got amazing shots of the action without anyone really knowing he was there. He was also able to capture the colors of our fall wedding in the Hudson Valley in all their breath-taking glory. Cant say enough good things about Joshua and his photography.

2020-11-14I highly recommend Joshua Brown Photography for your micro wedding photography.We are very happy with the photos he took at our tiny, outdoor wedding. Many have described the photos as a fairytale when they see the pictures and its true - the way he captures the environment, lighting, and mood is perfect. In addition to his beautiful pictures, Joshua is kind and personable. We discussed the kind of setting and ambiance that we wanted for our ceremony and he delivered with some excellent options in the Hudson Valley area. Finally, he posted a quick sneak peak of highlights from the ceremony the next day which was a nice treat to wake up to!

He gave us tons of recommendations on great places to stay, flowers, where to do the ceremony, locations for great photos, etc. The day went perfectly and the photos really show it. 2016-04-07Hiring Joshua Brown to take our wedding photos was one of the best decisions we made! I found Joshua online after browsing through countless photographers websites. When I saw his photos, I immediately knew he would be capable of capturing our day in the more relaxed style I was hoping for. His rates were very competitive and the booking process was simple and straightforward. He was prompt and courteous throughout all of our email exchanges in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding. In addition to the base package, we paid to have Joshua bring a second photographer and had him set up a photo booth which was triggered by our guests.We were married at the Bowery Hotel in NYC in May 2014, and we are so thrilled with how our photos turned out. Joshua and his associate were able to capture so many incredible moments...from the getting ready shots, to our first look and couple portraits, to the ceremony and the reception, the photos truly express the the beauty and emotion of the entire day. I love the candid feeling of the photographs. Looking back at them allows me to not only re-live the day as I remember it, but to see it through the eyes of all of our guests.I am so grateful to Joshua and his associate for the fantastic job they did! 2018-11-25Joshua Brown Photography did a spectacular job documenting our wedding at Locust Grove in May 2018. Joshua is a very talented photographer - he provided us with a collection of photos that recreate our wedding day in careful detail for us and our family. Joshua is also kind and calm, and spent a lot of time discussing what we wanted and the details of the wedding with us in the months before the event. He knew exactly where to be and when, and it shows in the moments captured in our photos, particularly the candid shots. His assistant Allie is also extremely talented - she took lovely candid portraits of our guests. They both handled our rainy wedding without any problem, and they provided us with our photos well within a reasonable time frame. Our trust in Joshua Brown Photography was well-placed - we are so happy with the photos we received and the services provided to us.

2016-04-09Both our engagement photos taken in DUMBO, Brooklyn and our photos from our July 2012 wedding at Dyker Beach Golf Course were fantastic. Joshua did an amazing job capturing the emotions of us and our guests leaving us with vivid and beautiful memories that we cherish now, four years later possibly more than when the day was fresh in our minds.Joshua focused less on the scene and more on interactions and reactions. This approach best captured the moments that were most important for us to remember as well as those that we missed. It was fun to see how much fun our guests had and how touched they were by the ceremony without needing to ask.Besides producing beautiful photos that told a detailed story story about our experiences that day, Joshua was wonderful to work with. He was creative and enjoyed what he was doing. He never told us what to do, got in the way, or intruded on a special moment -- most of the time we were unaware he was there. He has a low-key relaxed demeanor and takes his work seriously so I didnt have to worry about it, which made for a non stressful wedding day from start to finish. I was particularly impressed when a random guest without our consent began ordering Joshua around about what posed photos he should shoot. Joshua complied with the requests, ignored the guests disrespectful tone, and quickly turned his attention back to the party at large. This could have easily turned into a dramatic scene, but instead it was nothing more than a blip on my radar. I am so grateful for his professionalism in that moment.Overall my husband and I love our photos, received extensive unsolicited praise from friends and family on the images and albums, and have nothing negative to say about working with Joshua. 2017-03-25We hired Joshua Brown Photography for our June wedding at Buttermilk Falls Inn in Milton, NY. Finding the right photographer was our main priority, as we were often advised by other couples that your photos and video are the best way to hold on to the amazing memories of your special day. We couldnt have been happier with our choice. Joshua made the process of preparing for our big day completely stress free, offering his advice and guidance every step of the way. Joshua and his team were extremely professional and a joy to be around. They were personable, never intrusive and well dressed :). Our main objective was capturing the more candid moments of the day and the beauty of our venue. Joshua and his team managed this effortlessly.
