LA Fitness in other cities:
The gym its ok, the staff is very nice and friendly, George is a personal trainer that is amazing! I recommend him to train you!!! I pay for a master training but cause of health condition I have to drop out (they request a doctors note in order to cancel they trainer membership that is kind of expensive. Its a contract from 6 to 12 months). The manager of the trainers was kind of rude, he force me to cancel my membership because I canceled the personal trainer even when I can do some cardio! (Which I dont care! I just subscribe to another one, they lost me as client) is not mandatory to force me to train with a personal trainer so I felt pressure from him and he acts like he did not believe anything that I said even with a doctors note on hands. The gym jacuzzi did not work and some machines are broken and you spend more time hunting for free weights than lifting them. Broken machines all over the facility. so what can I say.....is 1 out of 5 they need some maintenance!!!
Im changing my 2019 5 stars rating for a 3 stars because is either they change management or simply got lazy in the facilities maintenance. Theyre machines with the sign schedule for maintenance for months now, broken machines for over 4 months and for every 4 machines theres only 1 pin selector key available, Ill have to purchase a pin and carry it with me in order to workout successfully. Also it looks like they need to add more of the common dumbbells, is a raffle to put a hand on the pair of 35 lbs.The place is still clean, but a good percentage of machines and treadmills are broken. We need the neat gym back.
By far the worst LA Fitness Ive ever been to. I havent been here since August because I was charged an upcharge because this is considered a Premier club. Mind you, my home gym is 1000 times better and its not. The same equipment that was broken in August 2021 is broken in January 2022. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!!!
This is not only the worst LA Fitness in the Northeast region but it is THE worst LA Fitness in the entire world. For over a year now, this gym has been falling apart. More than half of the machines do not work, cables are broken and most of the black and yellow weight holders are missing. I walked into this gym today with the intentions of executing a chest workout and I could not do so because all the cable machines were broke. Every single one. The fact that customers have to pay the same price for their memberships at this gym is completely asinine. Please do yourself a favor and do not join this gym and if you dont believe me, go see for yourself. Best of luck.Nick
I had some issues signing up for a membership online and decided to go sign up in person. I was able to get help from Tim who was awesome, very nice and knowledgeable with the process. Also met with the training director Manny, he was also very nice and motivating. Looking forward to starting my journey.
Poor management and staff. Gym is in a constant state of disaster. Spend more time hunting for free weights than lifting them. Broken machines all over the facility. Staff keeps giving the excuse of Covid for not being able to repair the machines. Even with supply chain issues, some machines have been broken for over a year. All the staff sit at the front counter on their phones. Never saw any staff going around the gym to help put weights back. Good luck trying to cancel your membership. “Need to speak to the manger to cancel” manger is conveniently always missing when you want cancel but is immediately available if you want to purchase private sessions.
I was put off for years by the negative reviews of LA Fitness that appeared on Google and Yelp, and went to other gyms. Finally, I decided to stop in and see for myself, and I realized that the critical listings were probably done by former members who had some other complaint and decided to take it out on the gym.First of all, its not a cesspool, as some reviewers would have you believe; the locker room is clean (there were a couple of locker doors missing, which isnt a plus, but that had nothing to do with the general hygiene of the place). Second, its huge--in the bottom level there are way more than enough cardio machines of all types, rooms for various types of classes, a good-sized pool, basketball/racquetball courts, and plenty of free weight and other machines. Theres a snack bar on the first level along with more cardio machines.Back to the locker room--it may not be as fancy as, say, the one at Equinox, with attendants handing out towels and a plethora of great-smelling soaps, but then it doesnt cost $300 a month, either. For the price, LA Fitness is a terrific bargain, and head and shoulders above the other, cheaper fitness centers (which shall go nameless) nearby. These are all initial impressions, and if anything changes, Ill update the review and (if necessary) change the rating, but for now, Im impressed.
Honestly this gym is an embarrassment. Everything is broken and looking for the weights you need becomes a full on Easter egg hunt. You’ll find yourself on Amazon buying parts for the cable machine since there’s none anywhere to be found. $40 for a membership here is honestly insulting.
Lots of equipment compared to other gyms. People are friendly and Helped me lower my bill. I’ve noticed though with time that some machines are out of service and it never gets fixed. Weights are all over the gym. Management needs to step it up. They are bribing people with free smoothies to get 5 stars reviews.
One star for location close to my house. Other than that worse gym ever. Half the machines are broken and scheduled for service since 1972, bathrooms are dirty with garbage over flowing and half the faucets dont work. Management dont care after so many complaints from so many members. They have 10 people setting upstairs doing nothing while downstairs is a sh!t show. I will not renew my membership this year. You lost yourself a member since March 2014.
I recently joined this gym and i’m immediately regretting my decision to have left Planet Fitness. Machines keep breaking down or missing pins and not functioning properly. All 3 of the abs machine are missing pins and havent been able to use it for some time. Several of the ellipticals, chest press and treadmills dont work. This is ridiculous and none of our complaints are being addressed.
Great sales associate, Tim Blue. After the first month Ive started to see all the negatives of this gym. First major problem is half of the treadmills are not working. All machines that require a pin doesnt have the pin it needs making half of all machines useless. Maybe 30 percent of the other machines have been broken since I started to go to the gym. One person told me I have to give in my ID so I can get a pin, which is actually a wire hanger cut in pieces. I love going to the gym early then going into the sauna and showering. However, the mornings is when they decide to clean the sauna. They clean it in such an inconvenient time I have to guess what time I can use the sauna every morning.
Should’ve paid attention to other reviews. It’s exactly what they say it is. Place is a mess. Weights scattered every, can’t find weights, and broken equipment. Place isn’t that clean and staff doesn’t do anything except chat with each other. Will definitely be canceling
This gym is falling apart. Seems like management is letting things get out of hand. Could be a mix of laziness and incompetence on their end, but most machines are broken (some have been for a year plus). There is also literally 4-5 weight stack pins for about 30 machines that require these pins. Gym members spend half their time running around looking for pins, which is absolutely ridiculous. Weights are all over the place as well, from one end of the gym to the other end. I don’t understand how the manager can sit at his desk on his phone BS’ing with workers knowing the gym is in such horrible condition. Would give zero star if I could, but one will have to do.
Entrance to the facility is clean, front desk clerk is very polite and respectful BUT the equipment is not operational at all time, the (2) rowing machines by the stair machines at broken, 3 out 4 legs machines in front of treadmills are broken. I don’t want to make a huge list of all the equipment because I’m not an building inspector but you will not get what you pay for on this facility.
Worst gym ever, no pins, broken machines, 70% of the cardio machines are broken, stairmasters are hazards there are no signs saying it’s not working. All plates and dumbbells are never re-racked, good luck trying to find a pair of dumbbells. The bathrooms are also filled with trash, while there’s no paper towels to dry your hands. People only come here for the sauna and the pool but even those are still dirty as hell. the funniest part are the employees sitting by their desks acting like everything is fine, if they fired those people by the desk and hire some janitors it’ll probably be much better. All gyms need some tweaks and fixes but this gym is gonna close down real soon if they don’t do anything.
*Warning!*** Top floor is Only for trainers and their clients during all times of the day. With special equipment that you can not find anywhere else in the gym like the battle rope and hex bar. This is a big Inconvenience if you’re work out is mainly involving some of those equipment. Most of the equipment on the bottom level is broken. I have be a member for four months and this hasn’t changed since I joined!
I came in to the LA Yonkers Fitness location to check out the amenities with my girlfriend. Alex assisted us both with a tour of the whole club. He did a wonderful job laying out all the packages for that way we knew what was best for us. He was very friendly with us. Thank you very much!
At this point I don’t even know why I pay for this gym. Entire staff needs to get fired especially the Manager. POOR management skills. Staff doesn’t even acknowledge you when you walk in the gym and everyone just sits around with their phones including the manager. Like other people said every single machine is broken in this gym, every single machine is missing the PINS for the weights so you can’t even use them. Staff is very unprofessional and corporate need to get new management for this gym coz current management does not care about the gym or the members. I spoke to them about the machines missing the pins for the weights and they told me to buy some online and bring them with me. Like what??? I blame the members who come to this gym and don’t say nothing about the bad condition of the gym.
It was great at first now its horrible Theres machines that been broken for more then a few months punching bags are always on the most of the time from these wanna be mma fighters kicking a heavy bag Ive been taking the extra Commute To the LA Fitness on East Tremont Nothing bad to say about that one its great condition...
So, I recently joined this LA Fitness sports club with 5 of my friends. We are basketball players. There’s only ONE basketball court, and on the best hours it’s always OVERCROWDED:to play — you gotta wait for 3-5 nexts… The court is compressed into 4 walls, with no space on the sides and very little space past the baskets. So good luck if you’re running down by the edge or need to go past the backboards: clearly injury hazards. To solve this they should have 2 FULL courts with enough clearance all-around.The jacuzzi’s jet streams and controls DID NOT work. Also, with so many people using it, the club is supposed to provide some type of specially formulated bath salt or safe product to eliminate bacteria and algae in the water (disinfect): didn’t seem to have any.A lot of the lockers had garbage in them — surely not a good way to welcome new members. The water on some of the bathroom sinks DID NOT work… I had to search for one that did just to wash my hands. During a pandemic? Really? It generally felt like this club takes their sweet time in fixing any damages, like plumbing and their workout machines.I fairly gave it 1 star for having a nice multicultural member-base, which makes it fun!So guys, I will surely update you on future findings on a surprisingly 4 star (rating) sports club.
As of today, Jan 19, this gym is a mess. 80% of the machines are broken. I wish that was an exaggeration but it is not. It has progressively gotten worse and they keep pushing to get more members. So, you have less equipment, more members, and less space. People are so close to each other in the free weights section that its hard to walk around them. I did like this gym at one point but for the monthly cost and lack of equipment it is a huge disappointment. Biggest excuse for broken machines: the pandemic. Yeah ok man thats an old excuse now. I literally can purchase the same item needed to fix it or get another machine or item within 10 business days. And that is literally what I have been doing. Just buying small items to bring with me because they don’t have it anymore or it broke. Handles and grips are broken or missing or there aren’t enough. The same leg curl and hamstring curl machines have been broken for well over a year now and the seated cable row is always stuck. The bench racks are uneven and there aren’t enough squat racks for the amount of people that go here. More than half the treadmills do not work. The sauna was working but then it wasn’t working. No idea of its status at the moment. Really disappointed.
Plenty of free garage parking. Before pandemic it was a 2 dollar charge for a few hours. The gym itself has plenty of different types of machines for all muscle groups. I do find a few machines always in disrepair for weeks at a time. Weight pegs are difficult to allocate. This site does have a basketball court. Swimming pool which you have to share with a swimming school for young children. You can find all people of all walks of life in this gym. Its a very safe place to workout.Upstairs you have a juice bar and a separate area for private one on one training. Overall, I can recommend it for anyone that wants to stay healthy and fit.
The staff here is quite friendly but a lot of the machines are usually broken. When I first joined the sauna for the men was broken and maybe 50% of all cardio machines were broken. The hot water was broken as well for a long time.I think the staff do the best with what theyre given and the gym will make do if you want to achieve your fitness goals. Not an amazing gym but it is passable.
Do not sign up for personal training and dont trust LA fitness.LA fitness will keep charging you after your contract ends and the only way to cancel is to come in the month your contract ends from Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm. They dont mention any of this when you sign up.Also, they say that you wont lose any of your sessions if you dont meet your quota of sessions for the month but that is not true. Once your contract ends, you have up to a month to use your remaining sessions. The place looks like they have alot of machines but half the machines are not working and it gets crowded often.Go to 24 hour fitness instead.Update: Its still bad at LA fitness.
I would give it a much higher rating but theres really no designated place to just get down and do crunches, leg lifts, mountain climbers, stretches and so on, like other locations. That is unless you want to get down on a rug that looks like its been there since it was opened!
Very spacious gym with all that you could need! Face it, there are no 5-star gyms in Yonkers, NY or surrounding areas and for a gym that has been opened since 2012 - I’ve been a loyal member since then -, it puts the other nearby gyms to shame. This gym includes various workout machines (which are often serviced and maintained due to the overuse and popularity of the gym, nothing out of the norm), personal training services at all hours of the day, a sitter’s club opened twice daily (Mon-Fri: 8AM-12PM, 4PM-8PM and Sat 8AM-12PM), a customer service-driven and delicious juice-bar/smoothie bar, workout classes at no extra charge are offered in the aerobics room and another room dedicated strictly to cycling, a basketball court, large locker rooms, vending machines, a sauna, a heated swimming pool, a jacuzzi and a very down to earth staff and fellow gym members which makes it that more of an enjoyable atmosphere. It’s well worth the visit(s) and price! My one tip, avoid peak hours as the gym’s been more busy since the reopening following Covid shutdowns. Peak-time (roughly): 11AM to 3PM, 5PM to 8PM.
Alot of options.... THAT YOU CANT USE! I mean if it was someones stock portfolio, everyone would of pulled out by now... Machines are always broken, shoot theres even a dedicated IG for all the broken machines that never get fixed... Its like the operations manager doesnt care to spend a moment going around to test machines or call to express the importance of functional machines for their clients... Sad place that had the potential to be great.
70 percent of the machines are broken, they have no pins, the staff doesn’t seem to care. I talked to the staff and manager and they said they called it in, these machines were broken since covid, it’s very irresponsible. I’ve been to other LA fitness and they were all on top of the equipment, apparently this one seems like they don’t care for it.
Dont waste your money here. 50% of the equipment is literally out of service for several months now. Management has made no attempt to repair anything. The staff is highly unpleasant and unprofessional. No one cares here. They are just bodies here for a paycheck. Im not sure how corporate allows this. Management should be replaced. This place is rundown and inconvenient
Pretty sure all these other reviews are fabricated (take a look at their Yelp). The staff here is extremely rude. If youre looking to come here, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. This gym is relatively close to my place however, I would much rather go to a gym 500 miles away with workers that are at least decent towards the guests. The only reason I did come to this gym was for a Zumba instructor however, the cons far outweigh the pros. Unfriendly and snappy staff, 15-20 minute wait for machines, ALWAYS packed (even at 5 AM), filthy restrooms, and half the machines ever work. For all these reasons, Ive cancelled my gym membership with them today and am switching back to 24-fitness. Did I mention, none of the machines ever work???!??!! This gym is an actual joke.
The Gym is alright. machines break and stay broken for months. they do eventually get fixed, but it seems ridiculous to have 3 lat pulldown machines broken at once.. for 3 weeks now. the basketball court has been closed for months due to someone getting hurt i believe?outside of that, the gyms overall vibe is cool. the staff is nice and helpful where they can be. and other members are pretty cool, too. no ego at this gym which is helpful for anyone just getting in to the swing of working out.
Much of the équipement has been broken since the pandemic began and there are no signs of any effort to repair most of the machines. The free weights are a mess and they seem to be re-stacked once a week. Paper towels and hand sanitizer are frequently empty. The staff only cares about sales here, and not upkeep otherwise the place wouldn’t be in this state.
Alex, a membership advisor, was very professional and knowledgeable—I’d recommend him to other prospective members. However, overall, the front desk staff did not provide the best customer service. Also, many of the machines are poorly managed and majority of the gym is underground. Still, it is not a terrible experience—this gym will meet your most basic fitness needs, but probably nothing more than that. 👌
I went in and this tall, handsome gentleman named Robert gave me a tour around the club . Not only did he smell good but it’s a beautiful club, clean , and such a wonderful welcoming staff . I haven’t been into a gym as nice as this one . they were very patient with me with answering all my questions, and concerns I had .10/10 recommend . I Love LA fitness !!
The gym is literally falling apart with most of the equipment having a signs of “scheduled for maintenance”. Wether it be cushioning pads, cables for machines and even having water bubbles in the ceiling. The of lack of care is insulting to every membership holder going there.
They have a lot of equipment and space, staff is friendly, but that’s the only 2 stars they’re getting. The club is absolutely disgusting and dated. I never see people cleaning the machines/weights/equipment/floors. And everything just looks old and gross. Half the time, treadmills are not working and due to be serviced. Equipment parts or weights are not kept organized and are scattered all over the place all the time. People’s used paper towels, water bottles, etc are left in machines. There are no more exercise mats except the one large mat in the personal training area. The soap dispensers in the bathroom never have soap. The equipment disinfectant sprays are never by the paper towels and vice versa. There are not enough paper towel dispensers around the club. They’re now enforcing the mask mandate, and I had my mask off because the string broke, someone came up to me and said to put on a mask, yet bypassed several other people not wearing a mask, and didn’t say anything to them! I’ll be looking for another club that’s clean and organized!
Yes, there is some machines that are not working, yes it can be better, everything can be better but overall it is a 5 star. This is a gym, not a beauty salon and if someone doesnt like that it can always go to other place😉.Members are using machines and weights and they are the reasson why it is somethimes not organized but there is alot of other similar or even the same type machines that can be used anytime. So, do not make exusess about minor things, come here, do your workout and enjoy doing it😊
This place is badly managed, ~30% of the machines are broken, faulty or unsafe at any given week and may not see service till the next blue moon. This is partly due to a lot of the machines being old af. Every corner you turn you see scenes like this place is still under construction/repair and that sight wont change for months.Pick some other LA Fitness this aint the one you want to frequent. The one in the bronx is 10x better
This gym used to be great. Now, it’s insanely overcrowded and very poorly maintained. I see a recent review saying that 14 out of the 15 stairmaster machines are broken, I just want to clarify she’s not exaggerating. There’s literally one currently available for use. I only continue to go here because it’s very close to my house but I haven’t been able to get a good workout here in a very long time. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone.
This used to be a very good place to workout but NOT anymore. The last few months the gym has been deteriorating. Many of the machines don’t nt not work and the man’s bathroom is a disaster. The sauna that is one of the selling points points has been closed for weeks for “repair”. I asked the front desk and they told me that they do not know when it will be fixed. The Sauna was in a condition that does not even meet the minimum hygiene standards. Even though many if the amenities don’t work they still bill you on time the full price of the membership. Poorly ran “fitness Center”.
This used to be a nice, clean and well run gym. The weights were always re-racked, the equipment was maintained and it was a good place to work out. Now, nothing ever works the machines are always under repair and 2/3s of the perks of this facility are not accessible. Im very disappointed.
Great gym with great equipment but the thing that gives this place five stars are the friendly staff. Some branches don’t understand the importance of friendly customer service and they see you as only that a customer. This particular branch treats you as apart of the family. Don’t take my word , come and try them out for yourself.

2022-03-30If I could give this gym a ZERO I would! This is the worst gym I have ever been to. Most of the machines are broken and have been for months, half the time you are walking around trying to find a pin for the weight machines, the gym is always a mess, the free weights are always scattered around and the staff is just sitting around socializing with each other. There are far better gym’s in the area that are worth the extra money (Equinox, Lifetime). Avoid LA Fitness!!

2022-03-30DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!! This is the worst gym I’ve ever been to and I regret even joining this gym. Most of the machines are broken in the gym and they been broken since last year. There are no PINS for the weight machine. Literally every pin is missing from every single machine. Employees who work there don’t care at all and tell you then can’t do anything!

2022-05-04Have been attending this location for more than 5 years and can say my husband and I enjoy doing our workout sessions here. Love the classes and the additional childcare. When our daughter was younger she insisted in coming with us every time. She cant wait to come when shes old enough to workout on the gym floor. Looking forward to restarting our fitness journey thanks to Tim!!!

2022-06-13I came to LA FITNESS and was a bit indecisive as to whether or not I wanted to start attending the gym. I was assisted by Mr Tim Blue and believe me I was convinced immediately that this is definitely what I wanted. He gave me a very detailed overview of the services offered and why I needed to become a member. I left feeling like this is what I came here for when I actually didnt. I highly recommend Tim Blue, hes the best!

2022-06-04Continues to be one of the most poorly managed establishments I have ever attended. They are only concerned about signing new members up and do not care about maintaining a clean gym with working machines.

2022-05-07Machines are often broken or missing pins, staff is sometimes unprofessional. Most sinks in the bathroom don’t work. They don’t clean as often as they should.A few years back this gym was top notch but the quality went down significantly. You’re better off joining Planet Fitness. This place isn’t worth the $35 per month. I suspect that most of the good reviews are fakes.
