Really wanted to try this place but seeing staff filling wonton or dumplings with their bare hands was a definite turn off!
I love my Chinese food ! I’ve tried many Chinese restaurants on Long Island, hands-down Long River, has the best Chinese food. They are consistently good. The best quality Chinese food I’ve ever tasted. Very good, meal after meal. Excellent boneless spare ribs and pork fried rice. Bravo.
Worst service. I called and ordered half friend chicken over fried rice. I came for pick up after 10 mn, they gave me my order and it was shrimp and chicken fried rice. I told the cashier, this is not what I ordererd. He said ok, I will change it for u I told him specifically I want a half fried chicken with fried rice. Came back 10 mn later, I found my order to be peanut chicken with fried rice. I wasted 20 mn of my time plus gas, and didnt get my order. Finally a chineae chick came and I told her that I keep getting the wrong order. She said oh Sorry we dont sell a half fried chicken, and proposed to give me fried wings instead. When I asked her for a refund, she gave me a dirty look and gave me the money without even apologizing. I wont come back here again.
Ive never had any problems with Long River. With Chinese food, I have my favorites, and I usually stick to them. But when I do experiment, they dont disappoint. Their menu is 2xs the size as others. With the cold air coming, try their soups. Shrimp dumpling is GREAT, and try the Chinatown wonton its fantastic. Kitchen is cleaner than most & with the amount of food that passes over the counter the kitchen runs like a well greased machine!! (pun intended)
I had there lemon chicken and the lemon sauce was so bad it tasted like detergent. I called to complain and they wanted to just replace the sauce and told me to come back. But that was not an option to drive 10 minutes back and eat cold food and hot sauce so I just ate the food without the sauce and I actually got sick from the food to boot. Never going back total waste
So Delicious!!! Was a bit leery walking in because theres no direct entrance to the dining room. The take out area is dingy and filled with empty boxes. Once in the dining room it was a great experience. The server was friendly amd the food was fresh and tasty. Will definitely return!
Not as good as the first owner! The soups have too much gelatin in them. The food is full of vegetables, hardly and shrimp or meat in the dishes. Got chicken egg foo young and had crunchy pieces in it. But I here from the rest of my family the chicken and broccoli is great. Because that is all they order.
Food was ok but the service was horrible. Ate in the restaurant section and the server was clueless. Ordered a beer, came out warm, ordered a vodka and seltzer, got seltzer....asked server why no vodka....she didnt know what vodka was then finally said they dont serve it. Wonton soup was barely warm. Will not go back.
We love to go out. Last night we came to this fine restaurant which friends recommended to us. We spent a lovely evening there with first-rate cooking and a well-trained crew and a talented cuisine. We added this restaurant in our list and we will definitely visit again soon. We warmly recommend.
I loved it! Me and my dad got the luncheon special and is $7.99! Comes with your choice from the luncheon special part of the menu and comes with a soup or soda and pork fried rice. I got the pork lomein and my dad got the shrimp noodles. Mine was fine but I dont recommend getting noodles
Food was awesome, I got the bento box and you wont be disappointed.. plenty of food...delicious, Id give it 10 stars if I could..it was that good!!

Hit & miss here. Today was a hit!! Great eggplant & chicken in garlic sauce.. Perfect!! Hot & Sour soup not bad.. Not great.. Everyone with me enjoyed their choices as well. Service needs a little help.
Great food, great service! We order from them frequently at work and the delivery is always fast and friendly. Ive noticied a differerence in the past few years in the taste and quality of the dishes. The only reason i didnt give 5 stars is because when we do eat at the restaurant the wait staff can be hit or miss. Otherwise I recommend Long River for any Chinese/Japanese/Thai food in the area.

Could not give this place no stars. I got delivery from doordash so food was fast and hot. As fas as quality, far from good. The egg foo young is served in a chinese qt container swimming in its gravy not servered on the side. The lo mein is colorless and mushy and fry wontons in garlic sauce was swimming in grease. Do not go to this place. So many other better chinese food places. The food smells like burnt grease, now my whole house does too.A month later, i got a refund from doordash cuz the food was so bad.
Good food and service. Always accommodating. Twice we have made an error on an order placed via the web - each time they quickly and pleasantly resolved the issue. Also appreciate their support for school activities during fund raising! Shop local!
Poor service as usual. Probably underpaid inexperienced staff who forget to bring drinks, gave me salad instead of soup, etc. Big portions but pre frozen food taste. I cant tell the sauce taste apart from canned supermarket sauce. I go with people who go there , but not by my choice. I prefer greek dinners or family own restaurants like big red tomato.

This is one of two Chinese restaurants I frequent in the village area. The food here is solid and they have plenty of choices. When you first walk in it looks like a regular ol takeout joint, but head through the giant doors to the dining room!

Really salty eggrolls, rubbery dumplings. The Genl Tsaos was mediocre as was Thai basil dish. Lo mein was the best thing we ordered.

Employees who were handling food were not wearing masks!! If they can’t follow new protocols I can’t imagine how things were handled before this new way of the world.

I order from this place every time I decide to eat Chinese food.This last time the food was not that great.my egg drop wonton combo soup was overcooked and bland,ribs were not great either but the California rolls were good.I was shocked because food is good every time I order from them but not this last time.I will give them 1 more chance and if its bad again then they will loose my business.

2022-01-30Not very happy with the flavor of the food. The hot & sour soup was lacking in flavor and I had to add vinegar and pepper to get it close to what it should be. The house special chow me in was very disappointing and the shrimp was off. I wont be ordering from this restaurant in the near future.

2021-12-25I was very pleased with my order. It came on time it was delicious. I like the way they added items to the chicken rice soup to make it more versatile. My pork lo mein was right on the money. I now have a new place to shop as it is superior to other places I’ve tried. Five stars from me and two thumbs up.

2018-05-13This restaurant has 2 sections. When you first walk in it looks like a normal chinese take out. Go through another set of doors you will see a nicer dining area. This place is better than your average chinese take out. General Tso chicken was good. Be aware the dine-in lunch special menu has less items than the take out lunch special menu.

2022-03-22Egg rolls below par. The lo mein chicken has nothing else besides noodles and chicken so plain and the vegetables lo Mein has no nutritious value. Wonton soup is not freshly made.Sushi has too much rice. Only thing decent is the beef negimaki.

2021-10-17Ordered for $ 100 food at this restaurant.We were told 45-60 minutes for delivery.After 1 1/2 hours no sign of a delivery.We called and the answer was: so sorry,So sorry driver will be there any minute now.Another 1/2 went by no food.We are sitting here with some guests (Birthday)And no food so far.I bet meanwhile the food will be ice cold.So if you want to wait 1 to 2 hours feel free to order at Long River.Quality also is not the same anymore.Less than 1 star would be good or no star even better.

She changes the prices from day to day and hung up on me when I asked her why our menu Item prices were different from the same order 4 days ago...Good luck if you dare...Dishes are often oily, not as good as they used to be.
