Marios Restaurant in other cities:
The food was very bland. The stuffed artichoke was so bland the breading on top was to mushy no flavor at all missing salt. The lasagna seemed good until I bit it and it was cold. The sauce on top was hot which means the lasagna was made separately from the sauce weird.Very bland food. Bread in the beginning was good. Service was good but definitely not the best Italian food.I read the reviews after I ordered and realized some people have also complained about cold and bland food.
4.5 Stars. We had a table for 6. With reservations, we were seated immediately. Bread was delicious, olive oil very good. Calamari appy tender, fresh and lightly breaded. Each entree was perfect (photo is of Veal Marsala), and the highlight was THE best cappuccino any of us had ever had.
I usually do not complain about food at restaurants but I had to for this one. The food could have been good but the service and the managers handling of complaint was horrible. We had Insalata di Pulpo (Octopus salad) as appetizer which was very good. Then the entree of Clam Sauce pasta and Cozze Marinara (Mussels) did not come out for about 30 minutes. When it came out it seemed like the server left the prepared dish for a while before bringing it out. Both dishes were lukewarm and some of the pasta was lumped together. We asked for the manager. She offered to heat up the food and when I objected offered a fresh one. However she was very patronizing in her attitude. We did eat half of the clam sauce pasta but we were hungry and it took a while to notice it was not good. But the manager said you did eat the food as if to not believe that we were not satisfied with the food.I am not used to making complaints at restaurants so I did not even know how to react to this. I should have offered to pay for the appetizer but not the others and walk out. When she finally brought out the mussels, instead of a fresh one it seemed like it was just re heated. This messed up our last night at NY and it left a sour taste in our mouth. Horrible. Horrible!Shame on your 104 years of history!
Where do I begin! First of all, service was top notch! Our server Dal was very attentive and very nice! Second of all, drinks were strong and on point! And lastly, the food! We started with the caesar salad. Best Ive ever had! For our second course we had the Margherita pizza (medium size) the crust was thin and crispy topped with a generous amount of cheese! So good! For our final course, we had the Penne Alla Vodka! It did not disappoint! Creamy and delicious! #YUM I highly recommend this place! Make sure you make a reservation! Place was packed! We didnt have one but luckily there was table available for us!
Food was yummy, above average, but not excellent. Mario’s is a typical “local” Italian restaurant - noisy, casual and friendly. My friend found this restaurant on internet, and it was our first time to visit Bronx. Both of us were very surprised to know that there was an Italian Town in Bronx. Restaurants and meat shops in the neighbourhood were very decent and middle-class.
A Classic staple of the orignal Arthur Ave restaurants. This treasure opened in 1919 and has been serving large portioned meals with warm traditional hospitable service on the block for what feels like forever. A reservation is recommended to get a table in the classically decorated old school dining room . With cozy tables nestled next to each other youll feel taken back as to what family style dining was, is, and should be. They have great staff that will make recommendations and tell you what they truely think. For our appetizers I ordered a burrata plate which was soft moist and simply over flowing with taste. To go with that we also had a shrimp cocktail and a salad for 2. The fresh super light bread which was amazing was used to sop up anything left on the plate. Then we ordered for the 2 of us aA plate of Noki Sorrentina. Soften potato noodles with red sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella. Bursting with flavor. My wife ordered the chicken scarpiello which was tasty, well rounded and beautifully done. Chicken was soft tender, and not drowing in sauce. The peppers were so tasty. I had the real sorrentina which was wonderful. Fresh eggplant , and prosciutto and. a light crispy breading that flakes when I ate it. Wow.For desert we had traditional coffee paired with a strawberry covered cheese cake tart, also added a rainbow cake which was epic as well as a chocolate whipped cream cake.My meal was amazing naturally with left overs. All the foods we tasted were freshly made and had material from the neighborhood. Great staff and a chef that walks around and greets people so he show his passion for cooking. Bring your appetite ,and doggie bag for left overs. A great place where food is made with love and has been for 100 years strong. MARIOS GOTTA GO..
Our server at Mario’s was brilliant. He was very experienced and could tell that I was having a hard time deciding what to order, so I just told him I was a vegetarian and he immediately came up with a dish that sounded like it was exactly what I wanted. It was like he read my mind! Both me and my friend’s pasta dishes were delicious.
We went late on Friday night. After the Glow and Train show at NYBG Regina as always was warm and welcoming even though it was near closing. The waiter was attentive and helpful. Even though it was near closing!I have been to Mario’s 102 times! Our food was amazing ( as always) the atmosphere is warm ,inviting, and Old school Italian Like my mom and Dad’s home in the Northeast Bronx!Come to Mario’s on Arthur Ave.Guaranteed great time!
Some say that over the years like much of Arthur Aves famed strip, Marios has lost a bit if its luster....but if u ask me and my son we would be quick to contradict. Now granted we only snuck in to order one of their famed pies but we immediately felt like we were brought back to n old school italian mob dinner feel not to stereotype just the ambiance was classic old country n its perfect...the pie came oozing with cheese n slathered n their legendary gravy...the thin well proofed crust never stood a chance of holdin up but the crust was light n chewy with that 00 flour taste 👌. The overall experience was great and their most gracious host a charm and delight for decades himself alone is worth a trip out...but come by the food is still great
My parents and I shared burrata and procuitto on a bed of arugula with balsamic glaze and calamari for the appetizer. The burrata was good. You could tell the calamari was very fresh. For dinner we shared paperdelle with short ribs. I wish it had rosemary or a fresh herb as garnish. We also had the veal saltimbocca. My mom claimed several times it was the best saltimbocca shes ever had and its one of my favorite meals. We shared a pitcher of their red sangria which was good, but I wish it had some rosemary in there to bring a little more life to it. We were very satisfied with the meal and had a wonderful time. We would definitely return!
Ten of us - 2 sets of grandparents, (4), son + daughter-in-law, (2), and 4 infant grandkids, 2 are 4 years old, another is 3, and youngest is 8 months old.Children were tired and cranky having spent several hours at the Botanical Gardens.I felt sorry for my son + d-in-l, and the waiter, Dennis. He and the other wait staff were awesome. So many issues popped up, spilled water, child climbing under the table in the new found Fort and more.On numerous occasions other wait staff came over and checked on us.Owner/Manager Regina has created quite the teamwork approach.Food, drink, and service were great. 5 stars all around!
Brought our mom who used to go here when she was a teenager in early 50s with my dad when they were dating and first married. She said they went to multiple New years eve parties there. And Mario himself used to recognize them every year they went. Food was good and service was very attentive!
Food was very good. Had the classics, lasagna, eggplant parm, chicken parm but no bread brought to the table and although the waiter said he was bringing fresh cheese to sprinkle on top ,it was never brought. Have to say though, the stuffed artichokes and breaded clams to start we to die for.
Appetizer and bread were superb…Seafood over linguine entree was sub par at best. My girlfriend & I shared the entree. I politely ate mine. My girlfriend said it was “too fishy” and was unable to eat her portion. Management refused to consider a price adjustment cause I ate it. Completely low class response. I’m also seeing other reviews with the exact same complaint about this same dish. Consistently serving sub par shrimp and shellfish does not cut it. This restaurant gives a black eye to the entire Arthur Avenue community. Next time, I’ll stick to my favorite places in Howard Beach and on Long Island.Respectfully Submitted….
We had a wonderful time this evening at dinner, following our Schiller Institute New York City Chorus Concert at the beautiful Church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, which the local restaurants and bakeries had helped to advertise and even donated delicacies for our reception. We were a party of Schiller Institute Choral singers and friends, and Marios staff of congenial waiters, and the owner himself, greeted and treated us like family. There were other families there with young children, and everyone seemed to be at home in the restaurant. The food was excellent, with generous portions (enough to take home!) and perfect pastas from homemade manicotti, to delectable seafood dishes, pasta in vodka sauce with prosciutto, and a very fine wine selection. Everyone loved the tiramisu and other desserts -- it was the perfect place to celebrate our successful Concert, and we could not have asked for better service!
We reserved a table for a Birthday, it is a very nice family oriented restaurant. Even a dinner for two. They had live jazz music, we ordered pizza as a appetizer Delicious ! All of our entrees were delicious, the best Meatballs, and Lasagna. We loved it. Our family will be going back to Arthur ave . for Marios Italian delicious food.
If you want to be welcomed to a restaurant as you were family, and eat amazing food, come to Mario’s. I’ve been around many restaurants and there is no place like it. I always feel at home. Thank you guys for making this environment inviting!! Stop by and have Val and the whole staff take care of you. They are great!!
Food was good. Absolutely the worst service I have EVER had in any restaurant. After taking drink orders, our table including two small children had to find a waiter to take our appetizer and entree orders. Appetizer arrived after 45 minutes. The two children fell asleep waiting for spaghetti. Entrees finally arrived after about an hour total after imploring the waiter and manager to please serve the children. We will never return to this restaurant.
Disappointed. Its my 6th visit to Arthur Ave Italian restaurants and definitely not my favorite. We had 10 adults in our party and everyone shared the same opinion. Nobody loved their meal, it was all very average.Service was POOR. All the appetizers came out at different times and several of them were cold. Nobody was able to eat at the same time. The pizza was very good but it came of cold.Food: lacking flavor on some dishes and definitely nothing special compared to other restaurants on that area.We sat down at noon and it took over 2 hours to get our entrées.
Amazing ambiance, family or romantic . We love the fresh pasta , one of the best ones its Lobster raviolis ,nice restaurant in the middle of Arthur Av. BRONX . The only complain that we have its with the hostess in the entrance, have a bad bad attitude the 2 last times that we were there ,and having reservations and she never change her bad face and nasty attitude , I wish that they work on that , no just the amazing food make a place .Still we recommend the food , fresh crunchy Italian bread and nice attention on the table.
Appetizers were solid. Calamari. Spedini. Clams oreganataMy pasta bolognese was perhaps the worst bolognese I’ve ever had. The sauce was watery. I put the entire bowl of grated cheese (they didn’t even grate the cheese fresh at the table) trying to thicken the sauce a little but didn’t help. I’m not quite sure how an Italian restaurant that’s been around for so many years can’t make a basic bolognese.
We had a Mothers Day reservation for two and the food and service were outstanding. Our waiter was particularly kind - one of us came down with a migrane so we had to take our entrees to go and leave hastily. He brought us the food and bill quickly and even gave us both a complimentary cappuccino to go. His kind gesture wont be forgotten and we will definitely be back as soon as possible. What a wonderful impression they left for our first time here. Many thanks!
This was my first time here and I had a wonderful experience. We went on a Friday night and we were able to get seated right away. I recommend going around 6:30ish before the dinner crowd really gets settled in. For appetizers we had the fresh mozzarella and tomato plate. They also automatically bring freshly baked bread with olive oil and sliced peppers. For my entree, I got the cacciatore. Some of my chicken pieces were slightly rubbery, but those were only a few small pieces. Otherwise, the flavor of the sauce was delicious. While the entree and appetizers were great, the dessert was the most delicious of all. Highly recommend the tiramisu and also get the espresso with a dash of anisette. Perfect ending to a delicious dinner. We will definitely be back.
Pizza dough was expired. Eating it feel like chewing on cardboard. Sauce was underseasoned, and basil was shriveled up because it was cooked on the pizza. Usually its torn and dropped in random places on the pizza after its taken out of the oven, as a raw garnish. Great staff and excellent ambiance.
Service was okay; the worst part was we ordered an individual (1 grilled chicken cutlet) -which was raw in the middle - when the bill came we were shocked to see we were charged $24.00 😠 - when we questioned the bill they would not adjust it - was told it is like ordering a chicken parm dinner with sides. We were never asked it we wanted sides. But really 1 plain grilled chicken with no sauce/seasoning - If you order a salad it only cost $12.00 to add onto a salad 😩😩 - Terrible response - because really should report although we sat outside: there was no social distancing inside. Will never go back
Solid restaurant in the Bronx Little Italy. I started with the stracciatella soup which was very tasty. I then had the veal francese which was delicious and plentiful. My wife had the mussels marinara which was excellent. The tartufo for dessert was very good and was large enough to be shared. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. A municipal parking lot was across the street which was convenient.
Havent been to Marios in many years and it was very good back then. Went there for dinner today & it left little to be desired. Service/waiter was slow & waiter wasnt listening to what we ordered. Family member ordered sea bass. The piece was so small for $38! Pasta sides were very small.Waiter never checked with us to see if we needed anything. Marios needs to step up in all areas.
Very bad experience overall. Avoid this place if you can!1) Bad food: pizza was frozen, pasta not drained (water in the sauce)2) Bad service: very long to serve, forgot some meal3) The experience got even worse after the manager asked us if we enjoyed the food and we said no, he started mumbling aggressively in italian and purposely took as long as he could to get us the bill.
Decent Napoli cuisine. The chicken parmesan although didnt stand out with originality, it was pretty good. The margherita pizza did however taste really good and was enjoyed by my guests. Service was efficient and staff was polite and courteous. Drinks: froze and white sangria. They were pleasant tasting.
Ok readers, let me explain briefly the reason behind a 3 star review for famed and renowned landmark restaurant on Arthur, Marios. The service is delightful, with a special regard to House Manager Regina, who greeted our table with sincerity and even made my mother, who frequented Marios often in the past, with familiarity. Excellent touch to service. Here is the thing, the courses we ordered were very miss. Lets start with the Escargot which was soaked in butter and olive oil. If you are a connoisseur of snails, youd prolly be better off eating warm bread and margarine. The Branzino which though was pretty delightful in taste, was alil sparse on size and be careful to find the occasional bone in the bite. It was accompanied as requested with spinach that laid on a small plate drenched in liquid that did nothing to present delectable. And the taste, well, heavenly consumed with garlic. The lasagna which I presumed to be a staple especially on Arthur, I found to be lacking in substance, namely, ground beef. Each bite was more noodles with an air of ricotta than anything else and lastly the Creme Brulee cheesecake, is just cheesecake. If you are hoping for a creamy caramelized fusion, you may be disappointed as we were. The only dish that I could truly recommend from our order is the calamari though thats not saying much to diversity. These days good pizza spots can knock that one out the park. I think perhaps, a spruce of the menu is in order.
I think you mistook the freezer for a pizza oven. Plus adding flour on it does not fool anyone. Soggiest pasta Ive ever eaten (and overcooked). Dirty glasses. 45 min to unfreeze a pizza and make pasta. Ridiculously mall starters. Terrible service. Honestly I could go on, there was nothing right. Go somewhere else.
Molto delizioso! With so many options on Arthur Ave I was a little overwhelmed but decided on Mario’s and am so so happy I did! Absolutely delicious food- get the octopus salad and anything veal! The vodka sauce melts in your mouth. Nice wine list too with unique Italian bottles. Service was great and got to chatting with the owner Regina who is amazingly charming and reason enough to come back. I will be recommending Mario’s to anyone going to Arthur Ave and I will definitely be back. No wonder they’ve been around over 100 years!!
Wednesday evening was perfect to cool off indoors in a vintage authentic Italian restaurant. I ordered the veal marsala, cold antipasto, freshly baked eggplant Parmigan with the freshest pasta ever. Not too many photos because we were starving. Magnificent service by Sal. Everything delicious 😋
Can’t say enough good things about Mario’s. Regina the owner is a wonderful lady, the wait staff was excellent and the food was fabulous. Try the Veal Saltimbocca, the Pesto, the chicken parm. All good. And don’t forget tiramisu for dessert. We had 9 people but ate like there was 20 of us!
Such a great place for a family dinner!! The family came together to celebrate my nephews graduation!!! From the moment we walked in as a group of 10 hungry and overheated individuals, it felt like we were at grandmas house. The staff was warm and patient, while the food and drinks seemed never ending and superbly delicious!!! The regularly is well maintained and great for a celebration or an evening out. From my family to yours, Thank You all who making what seemed like the perfect day even more memorable!!!
Definitely deserve all 5 stars. The space can appear a bit dark and dated but the service was great. The food was fresh and well seasoned and cooked with very fair portions. The sole in particular was fantastic as was the pasta I had. Good options on the menu and the dinner and lunch specials. Very happy with the place and can’t wait to come back.
I came here for the first time ever a few months ago with some friends. We shared some appetizers which were decent, no complaints, but they werent extraordinary, especially given the reputation for this place. I ordered the chicken cacciatore and it was absolutely the worst Ive ever had. They used old, poor quality prosciutto which ruined the whole dish. If anyone has ever had the unfortunate experience of tasting stale prosciutto, youll know its very unpleasant and overpowering. The entire dish was overwhelmed with that horrid flavor. I didnt send it back, even though I most definitely should have, because thats not something I could do without my mind being stuck on the thought of my food possibly being tampered with for the rest of the meal. Either way, my dinner was ruined and I wont be coming back here. They should be ensuring their ingredients are fresh before serving a meal
The service we received yesterday was incredible especially by our waiter. We came here to celebrate my mothers birthday, little did we know that this is a birthday spot or a celebrational spot for friends and family. The food was good and decent especially my artichoke chicken special. This restaurant has that old school New York Italian style which is what we wanted. Thank you.
Until yesterday 5/11 when I lunched at Marios, I found this restaurant wonderful in every way. Yesterday, however, was a bad experience. The escarole I ordered was under cooked, the Lasagna I had was not heated up enough - a small portion was reasonably hot, but the rest was luke warm. I wanted it heated up. Twice I had to get up from my table to get the attention of and speak to a waiter with my request. It seemed instead of having my original plate of Lasagna heated up, it was replaced by another order of Lasagna which did not taste nearly as good as the first!!!! (miscommunication and possibly a cook who resented criticism). I was told a sous chef was in charge of the kitchen that day.I do not want to see this restaurant with a wonderful Italian-Americanhistory and great food go down the tubes because of the carefree staff and an untalented cook I experienced that day..
One of the better Italian restaurants in New York. Even though the place was very busy, we received our food quickly. To start, we got calamari, spiedini, and baked clams. The calamari was good, very crispy, and not oily or soggy. The anchovy sauce that came with the spiedini is what made the dish great. The baked clams were delicious, not chewy with a delicious filling. For my main course, I ordered the salmon Regina. The topping on the salmon was delicious, and the fish was fresh. For our table, we ordered rigatoni, which had a delicious vodka sauce with peas, shallots, and prosciutto. This was outstanding, and quite possible the best pasta I have ever eaten. However, the best part of the meal was how all the deserts were nut free. My sister and I both have but allergies, and it was great that we could eat dessert, which is not something we usually can do. For dessert, I ordered a cannoli, which was delicious. The shell was light and crispy, and the filling was smooth and creamy. Hope I can come back soon.
First time there. food was fantastic our waiter was great, very helpful, very accommodating. one issue.... in October you never know what kind of weather there will be. it was slightly warm out and no matter how many times we asked the air was either being turned on then right off or the temperature was set way to high. Our waiter was sweating, my guest were sweating and unfortunately one of our guests saw the reaction when we asked for the air to be put on. so good, so fantastic. great place, great valet. Cant say enough good. but you dont want to see your waiter sweating when he is bringing you your food. OTHER THAN THAN 5 STARS.
For YEARS my family has been dining, laughing, enjoying and connecting over scrumptious food at Mario’s...It’s an experience-a tradition-family...The food is incredible and they will make anything exactly how you wish...But the people; they are why we have been traveling to the Bronx for more than 50 years. The energy, vibe, warmth and setting is unmatched.TOP DISHES: fettuccini filet di pomodoro; clams oreganata, chicken parm, PIZZA, linguini with white clam sauce...It’s a not too miss EXPERIENCE.
We went on Valentines day. The place was very busy. I had a reservation and was seated quickly. Our server was prompt and attentive. The food was enjoyable. Only gave 4 * due to the close proxmity of tables for the holiday. Im looking forward to going back during a less peak time. If the service then matches last time, they could score 5.
Horrible restaurant. Food is not good. Terrible service. Ambience is poor. Very loud and obnoxious. I made a birthday reservation on Open Table. You were supposed to get a free dessert for your birthday. At the end of my entree, I was handed a check. My waiter not only did not give me a dessert, but did not even ask if I wanted anything else. I would never go here again.
This is the quintessential Arthur ave Italian restaurant. The decor is cheesy old school Italian (in a good way) service is good and food is amazing. Although the starters were only ok (Cesar salad, stuffed artichoke, and stuffed clams) the mains were amazing. Don’t pass up the penne a la vodka or the veal sorrentina as both are amazing. Awesome experience - we’ll definitely be back.
This is a wonderful family owned restaurant. Joe is a wonderful guy I used to work for this restaurant back in 1976 and 1977 and before I work there I used to eat there. I would go back there and eat there it has a wonderful selection the look weenie with the white clam sauce oh my God is off the chain. The lasagna is immaculate, the shrimp scampi is I dont think theres another place anywhere that serves shrimp scampi the way they do this is a wonderful place its over on Arthur Avenue in The Bronx, New York.
I went with a group of five for dinner and the place was packed. Total wait time? 10 minutes! I cook for a living so it takes a lot to impress me, but they managed to quite easily. Great service, friendly staff, and outstanding dishes for everyone I dined with. I ordered the filet mignon, and received the best cooked steak that I had not cooked myself in a very long time. If Im ever in the Bronx again, I will eat here and bring everyone I know.
We had our first Family Gathering at Marios and from the moment we arrived we knew everything was going to be wonderful! The room we had was decorated and had lovely table cloths on each table. The waiter George eagerly responded to our requests for beverages etc. He made sure the food came out on time and made the day go very smoothly. Everyone was very pleased with the appetizers, the pasta dishes the entrees right down to the coffee and dessert. We plan on having our family gathering there next year. We recommend Marios to anyone visiting Arthur Avenue you will experience the best of what a real Italian Restaurant has to offer. Your stomach will thank you.
Old school italian food and i mean that in the best way possible. Our waiter was an absolute gentleman, made recommendations and everything he suggested was on the money! For such a storied, well known old restaurant these people really put their all into their food and service. A real pleasure dining here.
This is probably my favorite place in Arthur Ave which is saying a lot given how good the average place in this neighborhood is. No offense to little Italy in Manhattan but it simply doesnt touch Arthur Ave in the Bronx. I personally love the gnocchi but everything is great. Could probably due with a facelift one of these days but I personally enjoy the decor as it lets you know its one of the OG places in the hood. Many places in the area are no longer owned by neighborhood families ... This one is! It has been around for 100+ years and I hope it stays around for 100 more and that my kids get to share the gnocchi and other deliciousness with their kids and their kids kids.
I hosted a group of our physicians at Marios restaurant for a meeting. I had never eaten at Marios, but apparently every doctor had, and when I read their choices included Marios Salmon Regina, every single doctor ordered the Salmon Regina, they didnt even want to hear the other choices so I ordered the Salmon Regina too! Mario serves the salmon Regina with the most delicious Dijon cream sauce Ive ever tasted! Not only is it delicious, but it pairs beautifully with salmon! Marios has hit their sweet spot with their Salmon Regina! Considering that was 20 years ago and I am STILL raving about it, you can be confident in dining at Marios! So take it from me and 20+ doctors, order the Salmon Regina!
Best penne alla vodka Ive had in a very long time, possibly ever! Sadly thats probably all Ill ever get here now because it was so good lol. Great service, good bread, delicious pickled carrots they bring out, and free valet parking. Im going to try hard to make it to other Arthur Ave spots, but this has definitely been my favorite so far
At first sight the restaurant appears to be just the right place to find great Italian food..... Then the food arrives... Sub par at best. The red sauce is scorched, the calamari is over cooked and tastes like rubber, the shrimp literally dries your mouth to eat it and the filetmignon litterally tasted like liver and onions... Obviously it was steak but the taste was atrocious and they tried to cover up the freezer burnt taste with mushrooms. The best part of the meal was the end. In my opinion it didnt even compare to boxed store brand Italian food.
Had the pizza which is not good. It was dry. Tasteless. Sauceless. Greaseless. Brittle. The place is known as best pizza of the Bronx - went there yesterday and could not eat more. Was sorry I had a slice. I can say that there are much better options in your own town versus coming here. New York has much better pizza and this one is best avoided. To get an idea of what my opinion of good pizza is: Greasy, juicy, cheesy stretch goodness, bubbley crust slightly charred, sauce that goes pop with richness. Prince Street Pizza is a good example a bit pricey but yum yummy.
Nice place, not quite my cup of tea. Went because of a recommendation from an article, figured it was worth a try. Wife ordered fish, I ordered the veal saltimbocca. Fish was great. Veal was meh. Would have given a better rating, but the cheesecake dessert was also sub-par, in addition to a transparent, yet heavy-handed attempt to remind me to tip from our server. Bro, I wore a hoodie and jeans because you guys encourage casual dress, but that doesnt mean I dont know how to tip. I gave him exactly one dime less than 18%, without any intention of ever returning.
I dont think it is possible to describe the outstanding food and exceptionally amazing service we receivedo at Marios! Blindi and Jack took care of us from the second we walked until the second we left. Our every need was accounted for. Cant wait to see them again! Best pizza in the tristate area!
Ordered tripe but what I got was 98% onions and maybe 5% tripe extremely disappointed in quality of food over priced and food had NO TASTE they were a great restaurant now it seems like they dont care what they serve people also chicken scappriello has sausage in it didnt get sausage WILL NEVER GO BACK CHARGE HIGH PRICES AND YOU GET NOTHING IN PLATE BUT ONIONS AND GARLIC
Our experiences at Marios have always been great- I go there with my family whenever we feel like traditional Italian. Great, consistently delicious food, while being friendly to all types of costumers. Youll be greeted by either a family member of the owners or by one of the friendly waiters, not some cliché young maitred, and the friendly service will continue throughout.Deff try the Neapolitan-style pizza (basil leaves give it a nice flavor) or the asparagus appetizer. The entrees are too many to choose from, but Id recommend something sautéed with their traditional Italian sauces like the cacciatore.P.S. their free parking is a big help bc the meter-maid in NYC can be vicious
Not my favorite restuarant, but the people r nice, it can get crowded, so obviously the food has to be good. They have a coat check and parking, for a price. If not u can always search for street parking. The bx19,bx9, and bx17 are near by. Theres a pharmacy walking distance, as well as a hospital, so even emergencies are covered.
Like something out of 50s movie. An old-fashioned Italian restaurant that brings back the good old New York. Because, it’s never changed. The northern Italians may dominate the contemporary restaurant scene, but for fresh, rich, abundant food, you cant beat Naples. Marioss puts the *red in red sauce. There are great antipasti, pasta, and main courses, rounded off with delicious desserts. And their portions are enough for two Manhattanites. Spuzzulare!Friends from the Fordham neighborhood brought me here, to the Belmont section, on Easter. Maybe people were wearing their Easter Sunday best, but it was great to see a restaurant full of people of all ages in dresses and suits. Every table was multi-generational. And down to the smallest customer, everyone was eating happily, talking, gesturing dramatically, all at the same time.Get to the Bronx! Marios is worth the trip.
If your coming to the Bronxs Little Italy ; Marios is the place ! Delicious bread, pizza, fresh fish, shrimp pasta etc. Wait staff very welcoming, we try to get there every week. Great lunch specials too. Free valet parking / lot Entertainment on occasion fri / sat nites . Dont miss a stop there.
If you only get to visit Arthur Avenue once, make Marios the spot where you eat. Its the quintessential Italian restaurant that has food the closet to what my Neapolitan grandmother would serve for Sunday dinner. We have tried other restaurants on Arthur Avenue, but they couldnt compare to Marios.
I was born in the Bronx and I use to come here when I was a little girl So I wanted to impress my friends I and so I did the food is amazing what is important is our waiter Manuel he was great very attentive so when you visit Mario’s ASK FOR MANUEL you will not be disappointed..... Thank You CAROLANN 💜💜

2022-01-09Big portions, friendly services, authentic Italian…. What’s not to like about this place? The bread was hot and fresh, the chicken parmigiana with spaghetti hit the spot and the tiramisu was light and airy. I loved the whole experience and they have complimentary parking. There is adequate outdoor seating too.

2022-04-30Went for a bday. Staff is primo. All the food was good. This page needed a lot more pics of the dishes. You’re welcome. The antipasto per person was a must. They got all the tastes on there. Calamari, asparagus, baked clams, some roasted peppers.I’m so stuffed. Thanks Mario’s.

2022-06-01Was not impressed. We planned to go to another restaurant nearby but it was graduation weekend and they were booked. Our fault for not planning ahead. Mario’s managed to slip us in immediately which I was happy about. It was a full house so I was expecting a good experience. The server was not at all helpful with menu questions or recommendations and seemed agitated from the beginning. Food (pasta) was very average in my opinion. Server basically only returned at the end to collect his tip.

2022-05-24Went for a second time in 25 years that Ive been in New York and we celebrated a good friend 70th birthday. They could not be any more accommodating. Great family atmosphere. You do not have to dress up but you get service and amazing food like a high class restaurant. The owner was very nice. A great place for a family gathering and dinner. Definitely recommend and will definitely go back!!!

2022-05-19I went here for dinner with my Garden Club after spending the day visiting the Botanical Gardens. There were 60 of us & we had a price fixed dinner which included salad, pasta, entree & dessert. Food was delicious & service was wonderful. Reason for 4 stars, thought the restaurant lacked ambiance, but that wouldnt stop me from going back.

2022-03-18Mario’s was fantastic in just about every way. I went on a Thursday night when it wasn’t busy. The wait staff was very attentive and the service prompt. All the food was amazing, as was the wine. I stayed almost until close, and the manager was respectful of wait staff’s schedules and let them go when they needed to go even though they had later-than-expected guests and otherwise could’ve closed early. Respect to staff means a lot to me, so I hope they confirmed that.

2021-08-14Had a medium margherita pizza and fried calamari. Complimentary toasted sesame bread. All satisfying, the pizza in particular. The basil seemed extra pronounced, in a good way.
