Ive been donating things since 2012 after my mother passed away and luckily I found out about this organization where I could bring just about anything. They keep a record of everything online for tax purposes and its always nice getting thank you emails from the recipients. Also MFTA weighs everything thats donated. I prevented a ton of stuff from going into landfills! It is hard to get a parking spot in the shared loading dock and the main guy in charge down there can be rude and nasty like hes on a power trip. So much for doing good deeds.

2022-04-23What an amazing organization! Truly a treasure trove for artists. My class got a tour and a demonstration from a very nice staff member. We made some fun projects repurposing donated materials!

2022-03-22MFTA has been a huge support for resources. Our Organization is very thankful to be one of the recipients for supplies, craft, and even furniture! Our only set back is having a van big enough for the items. If you drive either have a car buddy to sit in the car during your shopping or add park hero app for the nearest garage

2021-11-25This is an invaluable resource for nonprofit groups, especially theater companies, as well as folks who do beading projects. The people who work here are extremely dedicated and clearly are part of the arts community in New York.

2018-01-22It is possible to get amazing stuff and a lot of inspiration. They could be better at interfacing with shoppers. Teachers are not taking the items for them selves but for their students. This is not a pleasure trip, its in addition to our work day. They give you a laundry list of people to thank when you leave no matter how many items you get. They want you to write letters on letter head without acknowledging that teachers have to pay their own postage and write these letters on top of all the other work they are taking home each week. Going to MFTA is a huge hassle, no parking, difficulty loading, and this is after teaching a full day and fighting traffic to get there. When you get home your are exhausted and then you have to figure out how to unload all the stuff. Sorry if I am not in the mood to mail thank you letters. By the time teachers can get there they have had appointments all day and everything worth taking is gone. How about a Saturday Shopping day for teachers only? Lately, when I think of going, I tell myself....better not.
