McMahons Public House in Brooklyn
Stopped for lunch and had the incredible lunch special fish tacos (3!), plus fries. Wanted a local craft brew, a BBA stout, if possible, though there were some good local summer choices. That wasnt too be, so opted for a New Belgium Fat Tire. Others, with me, had the veggie burger and loved it. Great choice, for lunch!
3.5 ok the spot is big and spacious With a large bar with many options. The Spot is way under staft they have 1 guy working the bar Taking orders for tables as well as serving the items to the tables. Way too much work for one person so wait time for Mediorcer food was long.
This is a great local bar on Staten island. The drinks are cold and affordable. The appetizers have a wide range of flavors. I had the buffalo wings which were very tasty. The happy hour specials are ok, sometimes theyll have a good deal. The service is unbeatable as they are very knowledgeable and accommodating
I saw the owner ,Mike, being very abusive to some members of staff when he thought nobody was looking. And some of the bartenders , were quite disrespectful to the waiters and runners. Along with the owner and some of the bartenders clearly being drunk on the job. But the servers were good as were some of the bartenders and the food was lovely.
Ive been coming to McMahons for years and its by far the best bar in Brooklyn. My company just held our holiday party tonight and it was incredible as always. Delicious food and superior service. Hopefully you go on a night Alison or Dee are working because theyre the best. Have all your events here and make it your regular spot.
Big crowd especially on Nets game nights. Cool place, great beer selections, good pub menu, I did not eat since I was headed to the game, I thought I would miss tip off. The reason rated so slow was the service. None of the staff moved fast even though most of the people were headed to the game. I only got to order 2 beers, I wanted food but the server never came back to the table. They accept credit and debit cards.
Went here before a concert. The drinks were reasonably priced and the bar was big. We didnt order an food anti was packed that night and there was not a seat in the house. I would highly reccomend the upstairs. There are more bathrooms there in case the line downstairs is too long. Also it was less crowded and less noisy so more my style. If you ever want to have a drink and a great time with friends this is a great bar to choose!
I admire this spot! They give splendid food, their menu is large, The cook in that place is very experienced, I enjoy a lot eating all their dishes. The dishes are always fresh and tasty, the attitude towards the clients is good. I frequently visit this restaurant and I was never disappointed. I recommend it with no hesitation.
Decent, chill bar. The food is good - not great but passable, and the drinks are good, not great but passable. Its a really friendly vibe. Karaoke on Saturdays is a lot of fun. Crowd can be a little rambunctious after Barclay Center events, but otherwise its very relaxed.
The Prices were reasonable and I had very good service here. However I will say this is the exact type of Irish pub you expect when you imagine one. So if you were wanting to try something different or new or just have a diverse eating experience, maybe go somewhere else. If you want a standard pub and a few drinks then this place will do right by you. Nice staff.
So my cousin and I were there this past Sunday for the Jets Giants game and stayed for the beginning of the 4 o’clock game. The bartender was very nice to us and we enjoyed his company. (We made sure to leave a great tip as well). My issue is the young lady who is at the door for the private party upstairs. My cousin noticed the DJ of the private party was an old high school classmate and went upstairs to say hello. The young lady was VERY RUDE and immediately began screaming at him to leave and saying he wasn’t invited. At this point the party hasn’t even started yet and the private room was completely empty. My cousin comes back downstairs and tells me and the bartender what just occurred. He tells us, “you’re more than welcome to just go up to say hello.” It’s not like we wanted to crash the party, we were already preparing to leave to go to another location. This time my cousin gets to say hello to the DJ and as we are leaving the same lady at the door begins to make a scene and tells us we now have to leave. She was very loud and belligerent, and made us very uncomfortable. I won’t be returning to this pub again
I wanted this place to be better, but a little on the expensive side, and the chicken tenders really really poor, and a small portion for the price. Beer selection is large but unimaginative. Corporate feeling sports bar. Irish Nachos were pretty good though. But theyre for sure using guacamole out of a squeeze tube, nothing appeared homemade
Good bar thats down the street from Barclay Stadium. This place is good for pre-gaming. The price could definitely be lower for the drink but dur to the proximity to the stadium you have to expect the inflation in prices. Never tried the food but they do serve food on site.
This was one of the best experiences of my life. The food is delicious and the staff is outstanding. McMahons Public House makes you feel very welcome, and it is such an inviting atmosphere. Additionally, the wide selection of drinks is great!!! Overall, this place deserves a 100 out of 10.
Great place to watch sport and have a drink or a bite to eat. one of the bartenders (Irish guy, Osheas cousin) knows his stuff about football (the real one lol) and was good to discuss with him. The place is right down the street from one of my friends place so it was very convenient during my trip there.
I love this bar. Lots of good beers on tap and they have the best buffalo wings. They also have good chicken quesadillas. The staff is great, very attentive. They have a good amount of TVs in the bar area and in the seating area. My boyfriend comes to McMahons often to watch premier games.
This has to be the best place to go even when you are not going to the Barclays Center!! We showed up last night with a group of 50+ before the Islanders game, and it was as if they were expecting us! We all had appetizers that were delicious, and a terrific assortment of beer and wine. Mike and his staff were so very friendly and accommodating to our large group. I would highly recommend McMahons!!
Fun sports bar in the North Park Slope / Barclays Center area. Bartenders are friendly and talkative. Lots of high quality screens, great place to watch an NFL or soccer game. Good set of ~20 taps, but nothing too crazy available on the craft beer side. Food menu is better than you would expect for your average sports bar, I recommend the Southwest Chicken Sandwich. Highly recommend this spot for a drink before your event at the Barclays Center or as your go-to neighborhood sports bar.
Me and a few friends decided to give this place a shot tonight. The food was good, but the service was absolutely terrible. I clarified a few things prior to ordering-but was still overcharged (by about double-challenged the waitress and was told I was wrong, and she wouldnt be fixing it). On many occasions, was left wondering where on earth is our waitress!? I give 2 stars, because the food was alright. But I wont be going back, nor recommending to any of my friends that frequent the area.
This was hands down maybe the most disrespectful service Ive experienced at any establishment in the world. The other reviews of the owners passing judgement immediately on customers are extremely accurate. I stopped in with a group of friends on a football Sunday so some of us had on sporting gear. When I purchased my beer the bartender handed me back my change, and I placed my tip near the garnish tray. I guess from his angle he could not see that I had left a tip, and had the nerve to rudely say no tip?. I was shocked by the comment especially seeing how I tipped 30% just for the single beer I purchased. I didnt mean to make him break his back to hand me a bottle of beer. $20 minimum on cards as well. Its not a good place to congregate over sports if you plan on talking since everyone seems to hold their conversations to a whisper. Walk a block down youll find a handful of bars with way more welcoming atmospheres.
Not the cleanest place. Food mediocre and very heavy. Our waitress was nice but very busy and never checked on us. Place was practically empty but she was working the bar, too. The guy who brought our food was an angry little man. When we asked for a condiment, he was so put out we were afraid to use it (definitely seemed like the kind of guy who spits in your food). He made us all very uncomfortable.
So, before every islanders home game this place is jammed packed. Saturday was no different as the bar was probably four deep with people wanting drinks and food (which I didnt have ) but everyine seemed happy and had a beverage in hand. definitely a go to bar place is nice and its clean. Never lets me down when Im there with the islanders family !!
There was a blonde server who hung out with 2 patrons on a PACKED, BUSY night. When we asked for service she said she would get someone else to help us. The gentleman was very sweet and polite but he was the only server for the back room as so he was very busy yet still attentive. All while she chatted away while on the clock.
Discovered this place on the first official game the New York Islanders played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. After meeting the owner, it had become tradition. I Love this Pub whenever I’m in the area. Good food, good beers, and my official pre game spot for Islanders games in BK! LGI!
This is the place, from the beautiful Walnut interior and down to the minor details. The food portions are abundant and the staff service is excellent.Party Room available on second floor with open air balconies over looking Barclays Center. Great Entertainment on weekends.
This place has treated us isles fans as family since day ome and its one of the things ill miss most when the team moves out of the barclays center for good. Absolutely superb staff, the owner ive meet a bunch of times is such a nice guy and keeps his place running top notch. Cant say enough nice stuff about this place and of course get the wings they are slammin!!!!! LGi!!!!!!
Food was goid but typical pub fair. Prices seemed a littke high but it is NYC near a mahor venue. They did have a good set up to go with the show. We were in town to see Iron Maiden at the Barclay center, and the pub was pkaying their music, rolling video of live shows, and even had their beer on tap hours before the show. Very cool. Super loud in there though.
Your standard Irish pub located right outside the Barclays center. If your going to an event at the Barclays center and want to grab a bite to eat and a drink before hand its a easy place to go to. Very spacious bar. Also has a second floor with a balcony. Always a different crowd depending on what is happening in the area.
Fond memories from when this place was OConnors prompted me to try the lunch special. The bartender I got was a nice guy, and the place is decent. But the other bartender seemed to think it was Ok to have a loud conversation in a quiet bar about how if Trump runs again, hell win, because were not stupid and were not racist. We knew exactly what we were getting with Trump. So, if you bartend at a bar in Park Slope and go on a pro-Trump rant in your bar *you are* stupid - at business, if for nothing else. The continued diatribe about how celebrities shouldnt use their platform for political purposes is equally stupid. Everyone has free speech, but that doesnt protect anyone from the consequences of their speech (see: this review, for example.) I mean, youre literally standing behind a bar with an audience of your own, spouting your own political beliefs.... which are basically that you dont want people saying what they think in public.I might be back. The bar is OK, and I cant imagine the management doesnt understand why patrons dont want their values belittled while theyre enjoying a passable roast beef au jus.As I was leaving I saw the guy staring into space with his hands in his pockets, while the bartender who served me was doing the lions share of the bar work.
Meh. I didnt care for the vibe here. It felt like a chain restaurant Irish pub that youd find in every Midwestern town. Its probably a decent place to watch the game, but Id rather find something more unique, and more Brooklyn. Alchemy nearby was a worthwhile alternative.
To any self respecting person of color, I would highly recommend you not go to this establishment. I watched the owner interview a person of color, by starting the interview with Im sorry why are you here? The interviewee looked shocked aND said theyd just spoken on the phone. Owner back tracked and agreed to interview person. Then as I was walking to the bathroom, I heard him tell the applicant you sound really educated. I loved OConnors back in the day, and have found McMahons difficult to adjust to. Now I know why, its run by racists. Guess I have to find a new place.

2022-05-30Stumbled across this neighbourhood bar by accident but did not regret it one bit!Solid affordable pub fare (fresh, thick-cut fries!!!) and the friendliest staff. Their hidden backyard was surprisingly spacious and quiet given the location. Clean open bar area with many TVs -- will definitely be visiting again soon to watch a game.

2022-03-25Really great bartender. We went at a not very busy time, but the bartender was super friendly and even gave us ideas on places to get food because we went after their kitchen closed. He was super sweet and helpful, and good drinks!

2021-11-24Decent pint of Guinness and they were showing Champions League which is all that mattered.Quite new inside and no character or Irish feel at all.Barman was a talkative friendly fella too.

2022-02-23A very beautiful typical NY Irish bar. The bar was slow with one bartender/server working. The bar tender started up a conversation with a couple and never refilled our drinks. When we finally got the the bartenders attention we just asked for the check and went to the next bar. They do serve food but I didnt order any.

2019-06-24Absolutely Beautiful place inside, with awesome staff and great food! Big selection of beer on tap. I didnt go upstairs which I will checkout out next, along with their roof top deck. Their chicken pot pie was excellent and very traditional, I forgot to take a picture of it.

2019-05-29Very solid service, both bartender & waiter were attentive. being a group of 5, we had a table in the back. food and drinks were also quite solid and reasonably priced for the area. no major complaints whatsoever. when the weather gets warmer, were hoping the air conditioning is on. what helped us decide to give them a try: all day Irish breakfast, all in all it was a very good experience!
