Midas in other cities:
Its been a long time since I had competent, reliable mechanics. The team is courteous, knowledgeable and they care. Just the sort of people you would want looking after your vehicle.I have had brakes, suspension, and maintenance performed at this location. Head and shoulders above the competition in the area.
I was told not to go to Midas but Im glad I gave them a chance. The new management is stellar. Jeff, Chris and Tim are nice down to earth people and I hope to get to know the rest of the crew because Im definitely coming back, and as a delivery driver I need to do so often. They are very accommodating and already had parts in store for my car.I came in for tires and they found out that the previous shop I went to, despite fixing my wheel bearing twice, hadnt installed a good wheel bearing yet again and the wheel was swiveling dangerously, hence my need for tires. The brakes were also affected and this was really costly. They showed me everything and broke it down well enough for me to understand. They threw in fixing the exhaust and my heat shield for free and took off $80 for my brakes, which now have a lifetime warranty with them instead of my previous shop whom I have no intention of returning to. Sweet words only drive you so far. Doing it right in the first place should be the way everybody does it. Thus far, Im very satisfied with my experience with Midas. I will update again as I grow more familiar.
I went to get a inspection and check engine read the first day he told me noome was there to work on my car i needed to reschedule yhe same day i went driving by and otjwr people cars where being serviced the next day was my appointment they drove the car to the back amd came bacj and said my car was leaking oil amd five codes came up when they used the code reader and i should take it back to the place i brought it long story short i went to another shop nothing was wrong with the car but a spark plug. if its a hassle working on black peoples cars than maybe u should put a sign. wasted my time and there very unprofessional
They lied about replacing the oil, they never changed it, yet they still charged me. They replaced the brakes with cheap off brand pieces of junk and they overcharged me (by a lot). My mechanic laughed at the work they did on the brakes and said they probably won’t last more than a couple months. DO NOT GO HERE.
I moved to the area in June 2018 and I went through a few places before I found Midas. Their service is always fast, they explain anything they find wrong AND take you into the shop to show you exactly what it is. This morning I woke up to a flat tire and I called Midas, they got me in immediately, patched my tire and had me back on the road in less than an hour. They have my business for as long as I’m in the area and I always recommend them to anyone who asks. I seriously can’t say enough good things about the team at this location!
Brought in our 2010 Prius for a second opinion on an exhaust system repair and Midas came in $2K below the dealers quote. Even completed the job below the estimate. Very friendly accommodating staff to boot. We are very pleased and plan to continue to use Midas for repairs
Both my husband and I recently went here for our state inspections. The online appointment process and confirmation was easy. Both of us had our inspections and an oil change done in 45 minutes each. WiFi and coffee in the lobby. The staff was nice and seemed honest. It didnt feel like the upsell you usually get at a mechanic.
They lied about work needed. Went in to see what was needed to pass inspection. He (not sure name) told me my back tires fail inspection and so do the rear brakes. Being a previous mechanic and NYS inspector, I decided to fix the brakes myself and what I found was that only one side needed brakes and that my tires, even though worn down, they still had more than the 2/32 tread. So to pass inspection I needed one rotor and pads, not 2 tires and complete set of rear brakes. Cliche lying mechanics. At least he didnt charge me.
Ive used this shop for everything from oil changes to flat tires to my car making weird noises, and the mechanics always been incredibly helpful, straightforward, knowledgeable, and make sure I understand exactly whats wrong with my car, what needs to be fixed and why, and what Ill be paying before they start any work. The service is excellent and my car is always taken care of incredibly well, and the mechanics go above and beyond to make sure I get exactly what I need. I wouldnt go anywhere else to get service for my car.
I recently just moved the area and had my alternator fail on me. They gave me the most reasonable price to have it replaced and gave it back to me by the end of the day after ordering the part. Since then, I have been getting my oil changes done here. Always reliable, extremely efficient and highly recommended for competitive prices on services.
DO NOT come to Midas if you like your car and value your time and money. They are liars. Both the old guy in the workshop and the younger guy in the front desk are professional frauds. I came here for an oil change in May and they told me I need to change the rear breaks and rotors. I asked them to show me the rear breaks and rotors. When they showed me the car, their mechanic told me that the rear breaks were worn out but the front breaks were good in condition. I checked all four breaks and agreed. So I paid 350 dollars extra to replace the rear ones. One month later, I came here for the inspection. After 30 mins they took my car, the front desk guy told me that in order to pass the inspection, I have to change the front breaks and rotors. I said I just checked one month ago here and your mechanic said they were fine. And I asked the front desk guy what were the condition of the breaks, he said they were like a piece of paper thin and he was not here one month ago. I knew he was lying because his face was so obvious showing he did tell the truth and he was he guy told me I need to change the rear breaks! Felt being conned, I told him I didnt want to change my breaks today. No surprise, they failed my car for the inspection. 3 days later I went to another shop, they passed the inspection without any doubt. Do not ever trust Midas for anything as they are full of lairs, from the manager to the mechanics. They only want to charge you on the thing that you not need to pay. Even worse, they may replace your good condition breaks while doing the inspection and just to let you to pay for their breaks and rotors!
I have an old car and parts are hard to find. My initial wait time for an estimate was amazingly quick. Although replacement parts were hard to find, Jeff graciously worked with me to find the right parts. When my actual repair appointment came they got me in early. Tim installed my parts and throughout the job both Jeff and Tim kept me updated. I grew up in a small town and this was good old fashioned local and hometown service. It didnt feel like I was at a chain store! Hard to find and thanks again to Jeff and Tim!
I go here all the time for my oil changes and have never had a bad experience with them. Theyve never tried to sell me anything extra, except once when they offered to replace windshield wipers that could have used replacement. I declined and they didnt push me about it. Dont know what all the negative reviews are about, though maybe thats because Ive never had anything serious go wrong. Anyway, Im perfectly happy going back for my oil changes.
I highly recommend the Ithaca Midas for automotive needs. Heres why:0. Honesty. There were no attempts to sell me things that I did not need. I came in for an oil change and asked that my car be looked at for any potential issues that may arise in the future. Their inspection revealed that there could be some moderately expensive work done on my car, but it was not necessary for my level of driving. I was told to do it at a time of financial and scheduling convenience.1. Efficiency. The were able to meet my needs quickly and without any complications. Also, the price for my oil change was much cheaper than I am used to.2. Good customer service. I dont have a lot of positive customer service experiences in Ithaca. I attribute it to this being a college town in a relatively isolated part of New York. So when I was met with friendless and professionalism , I was genuinely surprised. After months of dealing with entitled teenagers or disaffected adults the good people at Midas were actually *pleasant* to interact with. Quite the shock.Ill be coming here for all my auto work as long as Im in Ithaca
Peter Weeks horrible customer service and professionalism. as his own person or being the manager of Midas thats an extension of Midas this is more specifically about that employee. Picking and choosing when to be fair. And hold standards. Would not recommendthis company because this individual is the manager and unfortunately I have to trust my mechanics and I would not trust the decision making skills of this person. The rest of staff I had no contact with.
My review is more about the professionalism of an employee!! I wanted to exemplify the professionalism and workmanship of peter I have been sitting here for a good long time getting my car worked on..and watching him interact with employees and costumers!! Peter is the example of great customer service and worker relations! He has gone above n beyond each and every costumer including myself! I would come back here anytime thanks to his wonderful attention to to his costumers and his strive to make sure your issues are attended to car and personal thank you so much for the enjoyable experience PETER!!😁
Busted a tire on the way out of town right before the holidays, rolled down to Midas and all the folks working their were able to help me put on my spare and replace two of the spokes (one which had been spripped and the other that snapped off). Amazing service and helped me out really quickly, taking time out of their Saturday rush to do so. Will visit again if I am in need of any motor service and am in Ithaca!
I made an appointment yesterday and called this morning to see if they could fit me in early. They had a packed shop but still managed to squeeze me in a half hour prior to my appointment. Brad the mechanic was more than nice and made sure before any work was done to consult me first. Knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! Will definitely return! Cant beat the price for an oil change here in Ithaca...
They fixed a flat tire for us in under 15 minutes and were helpful. It was about $100 for the Honda Civic but thankfully we had it rented through Enterprise so the costs were reimbursed. The customer service is great here as well and its located near a plaza where you can get great food.
Ive gone to the Ithaca Midas location a couple of times and theyve always been helpful and courteous. Last visit they discovered a major problem with my vehicle that couldve been catastrophic if not detected. They suggested I talk to the dealership rather than having them fix it because they suspected it was under warranty. Didnt charge me anything, not even for the work that theyd started before discovering it. I will definitely be returning.
I stopped down to have my car looked at and fixed. Tim and Jeff saved me big time today getting me in right away and making sure my car was safe for me and my kids. I highly recommend them for your mechanical needs. Thank you again for helping me for the third time!!!
First employee I dealt with was not very good at communicating what he meant by they didnt stock items, thought Id have to come back. Then after i accepted service he said the parts could be there in 30 minutes. He should have stated that first. The second employee was very good.
Itook my car in for a muffler. After they checked car over cost would be $758 for the muffler and installation. would take and hour. I said Id wait. they removed the old muffler and I waited and waited after an hour I was told that the guy delivering the part was stuck in traffic; An hour later I was told that the delivery guy did not bring the muffler and then they called their supplier who is only 15minutes away. It then took 55 minutes more for the muffler to get there and another 1/2 hour to install it. When I spoke with the manager I suggested that he give a 10% discount and demand the same amount from his supplier; of course he couldnt do that. I then suggested he find a new supplier as he was going to lose customers if his supplier continued to do this. 31/2 hrs for a muffler with a parts supplier 15 minutes away. He already lost one customer today!!!
Frauds and crooks. Went in with a persistent tire pressure issue. They told me I needed new rotors and breaks, and that my tire pressure wasnt the issue. They were trying to charge me $800 for the parts and labor. I went to another place down the street, and they found a nail in my tire and sent me on my way for $20.Went online to write a bad review, and I found multiple other reviews of customers saying this place tried to sell them rotors and breaks they didnt need! This is actually disgusting. No one should ever give them business again when there are so many better autoshops in the area.
THIS MIDAS IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT - PLEASE READ FIRSTThis Midas has mediocre reviews going back for a long period of time, but it has been completely revitalized under new management. My father and I took our cars to this Midas on three separate occasions during a vacation and we were incredibly impressed. They were extremely fair in pricing, comprehensive, and swift, resolving issues that needed to be fixed in a short period of time as we had a long drive back home! I would go as far as to say that this is one of if not the best experience that I have ever had from a mechanic/auto repair shop. Sincere thank you to Midas. All potential repairees please read this to get an idea of the current state.
Nice. Honest. Not pushy.Midas always does a good job. They cover your seats and floor mats with plastic before getting in. They always top off your fluids. They always do a brief check on your vehicle to see if there are any glaring problems and give a free quote. I have only used them for a simple oil change/tire rotation and even though they present the additional services they could offer me, they are never pushy about it.You can find cheaper service out there, but for all they do, Ill continue to go back every 3,000 miles.
Great service, great experience! As a college student hundreds of miles away from home, they really made everything safe and reliable for me. When I came in with my car, they put it up in the air so that I could see for myself exactly what was wrong and I was able to take pictures of the damage so I could send them to my dad. The manager was super nice! He talked extensively over the phone with my dad, describing what was wrong, how much it would cost, and was very understanding. He made sure I was able to get back to my apartment, since I had to leave my car overnight, and would have driven me back himself if I didnt have a ride. This isnt one of those shady places where they try to take advantage of you. Being a female college student, you have to be careful with stuff like this since most places would assume you know nothing about cars and would try to get you to pay for stuff you dont even need. But the people at Midas were completely honest and even had a discount for local college students. They truly made the experience painless and left me feeling like my car and my money was in good hands!
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! First of all, everyone that I know in town advised to not go here because of their mediocre work. I take my car here anyway thinking that it won’t be bad, and that there’s no way these guys can be that stupid. I take my car in because it won’t start, I wait an entire week with no phone call, and I had to call them myself! To find out that they did not know what was wrong with the car and they gave up and told me to go to the dealership. I get towed, and the tow driver even told me that they’re a bunch of dumbasses in Midas who don’t know what they’re doing! I take my car right next door to the next mechanic and they fixed it within 3 days during thanksgiving holiday, saying that it was a fuel pump issue. The people at Midas have no care, nor consideration or any desire to put your paid and hard earned money to real labor, and I strongly advise to not go here and check out literally ANY other shop besides here. Not to mention, I honestly don’t even think they looked at my car.
Ive been taking my car to Midas Ithaca for 5 years, with two different cars, and Ive never had anything but top notch car service and terrific customer service. To tell you how much I trust them, I sent my daughter there when she got her first car, and now she lives Michigan, but makes a point to be home to have her car worked on. They even went to bat for her with another car dealer. You wont go wrong, they always do what they say theyll do, never do things that dont need doing, and have it in and out just when they say they will.
Horrible experience through and through. The workers dont care about the customer and complain about amount of work being done. The quality of care is also lacking. I was over charged on some work done to my breaks and had a wheel bearing replaced and upon pick up I observed that these idiots put my brakes on wrong. If you need work on your car, just dont drive it and wait until you can go literally anywhere else.
Brought my car in to fix a tire with a slow leak. They diagnosed a bad sensor and charged a lot to replace it. After I brought it home, the tire continued to leak air. When I brought the car back in, they examined it again, reset a sensor, and the manager told me that there wasnt a leak. When I asked them why the air pressure in the tire kept going down, the manager again informed me that there wasnt a leak. So either they were incompetent or lying.Every time I have brought the car in for an oil change, they strongly recommend all sort of expensive and unnecessary additional work.
Always a pleasure to go there. Never had a poor experience even when something was seriously wrong, or something went wrong after repair. Everything has always been done well and in a timely fashion. Managers and mechanics are very pleasant to work with. Theyve never tried to push me to have anything done or sell me anything that was not necessary; and give a timeframe of when the repairs should be handled. I have never gone to another shop out here for mechanical work and never will. Theyve worked on 5 different cars ive had over the years and without them, I have no idea what Id do.Managers always address me by name and they give a feel of genuine care when you walk in the door. Im a name and not a number or car model with them. Always have enjoyed their service. Love love love. Strongly recommend them for any car trouble. Even if just a check up!
I brought my out of state registered car to Midas to get it inspected because I am trying to sell it. To my surprise the car failed the inspection, even though everything on the inspection checklist was OK. They told me that I had some rust on my rotor and that my tire was out of alignment (which they had put on for me a few months prior) and for a small price of $550, they could fix it. After I said I would not pay for the repairs, they benevolently told me that they would take the car off of my hands for $300. The following week, I had my boyfriend take the car to Tallmadge of Ithaca to get it inspected. Like it should of, it passed inspection with flying colors. The people at Midas purposefully failed my inspection to try to buy my car. Do not go to Midas, they are awful, untrustworthy people.
A muffler/tailpipe replacement on short notice today for my Ford F-150 was quick and satisfactory. Dave, the store manager, knowledgeably and helpfully answered my questions. Even with time required for delivery of specialty exhaust system parts from their supplier the total time start to finish in the shop was only 2-1/2 hrs.
These people are scam artists. The other day I needed a tire replacement and came to Midas. The man working said he would replace my tire with one that matched the other 3, as it obviously should be the same. I even offered to give the him the receipt for the original tires so he could be 100% positive I got the right one. Instead, he told me he would order the same one, I paid, and I left. When I brought the car in once the tire had arrived, they put it on and it was the wrong tire. So, in addition to telling me that he would order the exact same one, he failed to tell me that he instead ordered a knock-off and tried to pass it off as the real thing. When I complained, the man working seemed upset that I was asking for all four tires to be the same. He proceeded to tell me the tire I wanted was unavailable, yet only half a mile down the street I managed to find another repair place that replaced the tire exactly how I wanted it no problem (shout out to Bruces Pit Stop).Moral of the story - go to Bruces Pit Stop, not Midas.
Made a lunchtime appt at another shop (Cole) but when we got there, they had no record of it. Said they would squeeze us in. An hour later, I asked for my keys back and said I was going to Midas. Went there and they took us right in. Turned out the rattling noise was just a loose heat shield. Jeff fixed it right there and then gave us our keys. When we asked how much, he said, No charge. Wouldnt even take a tip! Midas - you just made a customer for life. Excellent and trustworthy!
I love the people here! They are always great, dont price gorge you and you super honest and upfront with what needs to be done to your vehicle. Weve been coming here exclusively for years and these guys have always gone above and beyond for their customers. Really appreciate them and their hard work!
I brought my car in for a simple oil change and NYS inspection. When they checked my engine coolant, they forgot to put the cap on and also managed to cause a leak in the line. About 50 miles later, the coolant exploded all over under the hood and my car was on a tow truck to my local mechanic. They also topped off my wind shield washer fluid with water because it now freezes at 30F, making my winsheild washing system useless with winter just around the corner.EDIT: one year later I brought my car in for an inspection, figuring they couldnt mess that up. I was turned away at the door because I was told my spare tire was not to code. I explained that my car has passed inspections with that same spare tire/rim every year for the last 10 years (which sits in my trunk), including at the same Midas one year earlier. All he could say was I cant explain that and told me to go to a dumpster to find a new tire. Later I finally figured out that what they thought was a spare tire was the one tire on my car missing a hub cap! Both the manager and his technician could not tell the difference between a spare tire and a real tire missing a hub cap. Later I called him and he agreed he made that mistake. If they cant tell the difference between a spare and a real tire, then do you really trust them to mess with your brakes, or anything else on your car??
Great service. First they helped me with my oil change on my 100,000+ mi Toyota RAV4. They were knowledgeable and transparent about their practices and checks. Clearly communicated issues with water pumps, needs to do a transmission flush, and replace rear brake pads and rotors. Although a somewhat costly maintenace check at 100,000+ mi, but it makes it re-assuring to know that the vehicle is safe to drive and checked before the engine overheats due to faulty water pump or brake wearing out. Will gladly come back for regular maintenance checks and oil change again.
I love my Midas guys! They bend over backward to help me any way they can. The new management is awesome, and the new system means I dont have to take home a books worth of paper when theyre done. They are now more like my old private business mechanic was before he became more like corporate jerks. (: Good Job guys, but no offense, I hope I dont have to see you again for a longish while... at least 3,000 miles. (:
If it is a company policy to NOT used customer supplied parts, it would be beneficial to state that vs. Lying to your customer regarding the parts they provided. Lied about parts I supplied, stated wrong parts. Luckily a reputable business in Ithaca fit me in, found the parts I had were, indeed, correct! Brakes on, more respect for the local business. Midas has lost a customer, but, I am sure, being a measly woman, they wont care.
Sure they are not the best, and honestly there are some things they dont know well. But they are very, very, very honest people, they simply told me they dont know what was wrong and they wouldnt work on it, and no charge for inspection. I would suggest this place for your simple car problems, but if your car has complicated issues this place might not be able to get it done. Overall a very good place for regular maintenance.
Hi Joan Murphy!😊 Im the one who forgot your muffler that day! Im very sorry for the mistake! The only excuse I have is that we were down two drivers and as you may know that getting around Ithaca is sometimes a nightmare! It was all my fault, not Midas. Theyre great! Love all those guys!! I wish I could turn back time and change what happened!!😥 Again, so so sorry!!😢
Lies and hypocrisy are all I got from this repair shop. I am a Ph.D. student at Cornell University living in Ithaca, NY. I brought my Toyota Prius 2007 for a pre-purchase inspection. On that day, they accepted my request and promised me that I will get a great service as they are the best repair shop in Ithaca. The report came out suggesting that my car is in a perfect condition. Now right after I bought my car all the warning sign with check engine light, ABS brake light, battery light etc. came back again. Now when I went there for the second time, they said that they dont have any expertise dealing with hybrid cars, I should take my car to a Toyota service station. When I asked why they did not mention it earlier during my pre-purchase inspection, they totally denied the whole thing! Lies and hypocrisy are all I got from this repair shop.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! After thousands of dollars they kept finding the problem and then when I returned because it wasnt fixed they would find another problem. This has gone on for the past 2 years. You will find yourself going in getting the fix fixed numerous times. My car is ruined and I have been left stranded because they have stripped parts, forgotten parts, or just didnt fix the problem properly the first time. They will not admit mistakes and they will not refund your money so that you can just go somewhere else to get it done properly. So dont go near there to start with!
They did brake work and a week later a caliper mounting bolts fell off. No refund, small discount and get coupons in the mail often which I will never use. Their mistake resulted in a gouge along the inside of the tire rim and they wouldnt even fix or replace that. Screw this place.
I recently got an oil change and state inspection done at midas. They tried to sell me on EVERYTHING!!!!! At first they wanted me to replace my air filter for a charge of 35$, I do know that I myself can replace the air filter for 10$. Then they tried telling me I needed new tires. I just replaced the tires on my car 2 months ago! I asked if he would like to see the paper work since it was still in my car. The manager then in turn just gave me a blank stare! CROOKS!! Stay away from this place!
Well Im the real Chris Tuma and Im the assistant manager here and just to clear the air i would never talk bad about the employees or anyone here at this Midas franchise. Especially my boss Jeff Forney. We have a great team here so if anyone sees the other review that is a fake account and not me. Thank you to all the customers that do come and support our business.

2022-02-05So Ive been going there since I moved to Ithaca 3 years ago normally there isnt a problem but I went today and I felt something was off when I got my car back they changed the setting in my car like they pushed my seat pretty much all the way forward which i dont understand why do that when your moving someones car 15ft. They turned off my head light which have a automatic setting so theres no reason to do that. They completely turn off the heat mind you its 20 degrees outside. I dont understand why do unnecessary things.

2022-04-02Extremely unprofessional. My daughter made an appointment (several days ago) to get her oil changed this morning, and received an email confirmation. When she arrived, she was told that she didn’t have an appointment, and that she couldn’t “just wander in and expect people to make time for her.”When she politely told them that she made the appointment in advance, they refused to even look at the email. The attendent said that it wasn’t his problem and he told my daughter to leave.Prior experience with this Midas location - my daughter was falsely advised that repairs were necessary when they were not. She will be looking for other options for her car servicing needs.

2022-03-13I only used this place once to have my splash shield that got ripped up fixed up until i got home. In regard to the service Jeff didnt charge me to fix it and i was very happy with the tech who put it back up. I just saw a review saying their rip offs, well if they didnt want to charge me and said have a safe trip back home either though i insisted of paying they deserve a A. Thanks Jeff and crew

2022-06-23Made an appointment online for an oil change. Received a confirmation email. Showed up at appointment time to be told that they wont honor the appointment because they were booked up. Incredibly unprofessional. Absolutely do not recommend

2021-08-24I cant speak to the work they do because I havent had work done at any Midas however I can say that when I called with a price inquiry the first man I spoke with was pretty rude and didnt let me finish my whole question before telling me they wouldnt even look at my vehicle. I called back and asked to speak with anyone but the person I had just spoken with and the second gentleman was much more personable. He answered my questions and even asked if I was interested in scheduling a time to bring my car in to get it looked at free of charge because of how rude the first guy was. So, although I will never take my vehicle to them to be serviced based on the my first phone call, I imagine the service and quality of work is decent since the place had been around for as long as I can remember.

2021-07-28I had cancelled my appointment at Good Year because these guys gave me a much better quote. Showed up for the appointment, and they did not have the tires in stock that they said they would have ready for me. The guy tried to pin the blame on me for not ordering tires to their store after I made my appointment. Had to go back to Good Year and get my appointment back.

2021-02-18This shop put a regular customer at risk because of a policy designed to sell tires.I have been a customer at this Midas for 5 years now. I use it for basic things like mounting tires and oil changes. I have always appreciated Chris and Jeffs customer service and the shops competitive prices. On Wednesday I brought in a set of used winter tires to be mounted, because my wife had gotten into an accident in the snow with the older tires I had on the vehicle the day before. One of the tires was damaged, but they refused to put two of the winters on the back of the vehicle because they were seven years old. What business of theirs is it how old the tires are? They were in fine condition. Of course, they offered to sell me another pair.So now I had to drive into work today in the snow and ice with bald tires, until I can get the winters mounted tomorrow morning at another shop. Thanks for nothing. You wont be seeing me at your shop again.

2021-08-25My car mysteriously was the only car broken into while it was there and all of my 450 piece tool set was missing. Conveniently. The man at the front desk was rude and bypassed all of my concerns about the vehicle. If they werent the only ones who could get my car in for a radiator flush for 2 weeks I would have left then. I wont be back and I dont suggest you go either. According to other businesses around them, theft happens there often.
