Happy Family has the best Chinese takeout in the area hands-down. Theyre prices are competitive, but I would buy from them even if they werent. The food tastes nice and fresh, and you get plenty of meat with the meals. I can feed my family of 6 here for about $40 and we have lunch for the next day as well. Its also one of the few places other than the one in the Arnot Mall that offers Bourbon Chicken.
The driver couldnt get in the building BECAUSE HE HAD TO CALL ME FROM TNE DONWSTAIRS PHONE WHICH HE REFUSED TO DO i watched him out the window just stand there and ignore my calls when I tried to give him simple directions!!! And I spoke to someone from the restaurant who told me if I didnt come downstairs I wouldnt get my food !! So no your not sorry for the inconvenience because it was simple all he had to do was call me it didnt require me coming outside . If I wanted to come outside I wouldve ordered pick up
Normally Id be at a 4 star rating because the food and service is usually acceptable. However, I just ended a call with a very rude female answering the phone. She seemed very impatient and annoyed by my call. I dealt with it throughout the call and once I asked her if I could give her my credit card number and she let out a very rude sigh and said credit card number, I had about enough at that point and told her never mind and disconnected the call. Heres and idea, hire someone to answer the phones who actually wants to make your business money and who understands that we, the people, are the reason youre in business in the first place. One customer to Bejing Garden, fix it before you lose more.
1st time trying this place. My crab rangoon were a little overcooked and not enough stuffing. The chicken lo mane is killer good. The Egg rolls were more like Spring rolls they were tasty but a little disappointing.
The typical Asian flavors were missing. The spareribs were nearly meatless and the shrimp fried rice was very bland. I was not impressed and wont go back. There are 3 other Asian restaurants in town that are much better
Good food, about the best in the area. $1.00 for a little dumpling sauce? Not fair, otherwise pricing is fair and portion is good.
Ive tried Chinese food all across North America but nothing beats New Happy Family. Not only do they provide some of the most delectable Chinese food out there, theyre very good when it comes to service. I highly recommend if you are in the area, I know allot of college students that love this place too.
Last time I ordered. The rice was old. It had a taste like it had been on the floor or something. Everytime I order the eggrolls are not cooked fresh. Seem like they were previously cooked, and then fried again.
Not recommended for eat in or take out. The Eating area was dirty and cold. Bathroom was dirty with paint peeling off the ceiling. I really wasnt impressed with the half naked women on the mirror in the bathroom above the employees must wash hands sign. The food tasted good going down however a few hours later i wasnt feeling very well. Doesnt even offer hot tea with eat ins. Only drink is cheap canned soda. For as dirty as the common areas were...I can only imagine how bad the kitchen was. We Wont be returning.
This restaurant supplies the best Chinese food by far in the whole Elmira area. Theres no health code violations and the son that drives the white car is, as Ive seen, and I see him driving around town often, a good driver. I feel like racism is lending a hand to that complaint. The guy drives like anybody else.Back on topic however, the food is great and always up to quality. The rare one or two times my order was very slightly messed up, they fixed it no problem and at no extra charge. Their before 3 on weekdays lunch specials are super affordable and will leave you with leftovers for $4.89 after tax. Try their General Tsos Chicken, I have had it from every place around a 20 mile radius excluding Lin Buffet (as its a buffet, not fast food) and nothing compares.Happy Family is exactly that, a happy family. If you visit their restaurant you will see that its more than just a cheap chinese joint. I often see an English tutor in the restaurant helping their children adapt to our culture and learn our language and the rest of the family members are very polite and courteous.
Happy family has always been my go-to for asian food, its always great tasting fresh and hot...the workers are amazing at customer service and me being a home town boy would recommend to anyone visiting or recently moved here
Unfortunately I cant give it no stars but if I could I would. I went to pick up my food and there was bugs dead and alive on every wall and surface. Dead bugs inside the ceiling lights, alive ones flying around it. I could see the bugs flying around in the kitchen. Huge moths on the ceiling above uncovered as well as uncooked food. Spider webs in the corners of the front door were so full of bugs it was beyond gross. Then to top it all off after I got home with my food I found more than one insect in my combination platter. Never again will I eat here and in all honestly I wouldnt reccomend anyone else to.

Terrible service. Called and order pick up,then a random guy shows up for delivery. The website says combinations come with fried rice ans egg roll plus soup. They claim one or the other. Wife order shrimp chow mein and they sent a bowl of vegtables with tiny shrimp in it......flat out sucks family wok in southport ia way better

We placed an order and they told us 45 minutes to an hour and after an hour an half we called over 30 times and couldnt get through so we will never order from there again. We ended up cooking at home.
We came across this restaurant on our travels through New York and found the food to be delicious. The owner was pleasant and was fun to talk to. The decor is simple but dont let that fool you... The food is great!
Every time we order, something is missing, either an egg roll or rice. They refuse to redeliver it, charge you for it and never give you the credit ! Worst people ever !!! You want really good food don’t waste your time here, go to taste of Asia!!!!

2022-04-13My first few orders from here were fantastic. It became a weekly thing but in the last month something has changed. The beef and pork seem off, almost old. I thought maybe first time was just the time I got it becuase it was around 3 in the afternoon. However tonight was dinner time. I wasnt able to finish my food due to the taste. I hope they go back to what they did before. For now Ill be waiting awhile to order

2022-02-06Great Chinese food dinner when you dont want to cook some nights. Theres something for everyone. They are stingy with the cream cheese in their crab rangoons, I dont suggest buying them. Mostly just hard to eat. Their eggrolls are good, love their pork fried rice, and every dish Ive gotten has been great portion sizes. I have no comment on the interior or atmosphere because we get takeout from here. Their eggdrop soup is amazing and not at all too salty. Shrimp are a good size, not too small at all.

2019-09-11Ill preface the review by saying that I always order by phone and go there to pick it up. This is really designed as a take out place. They do have a restaurant area where you can sit and eat...but it looks depressing, and not all that clean! Several of my co-workers order take out from there. That can get expensive and can take a lot of time. But, I live close by so I call ahead with my order and its always ready on time. They offer a number of lunch specials, Monday through Saturday, from 11-3, for $5.45, that are good and very affordable. I usually get two meals out of them. I especially like their double sauteed pork lunch special, which comes with soup, veggies, and pork fried rice.

2019-06-25Ive never had anything but good experiences ordering delivery here! Best Chinese in the area, and delivery is always prompt. They even accommodate my special request for sesame seeds sprinkled on my general tsos chicken without complain. Highly recommend!
