The wife and I managed to get grandma take our girls for 5 days. We spent the 5 days here. Wow what a great time. Not much to do here but thats what we wanted. Definitely a 5 + stars 🌟 rating from us. We will be backUPDATESee you in 3 days told you we would be back!!! Cant wait!!!
Nice small park with camping, trails, and refreshingly honest historic markers. The opinins and biased views of past generations remain, but the newer monuments and sighns attempt to record events from multiple perspectives. I appreciate both and commend those who maintain this place.
A beautifully serene place to visit with amazing views of what used to be a thriving city (Elmira) and the river valley below. Signs of typical wildlife (ie; deer, bear, etc.) exist but I did not encounter much when last visited. Saw a turkey vulture. WARNING: THIS PLACE ALWAYS HAS THE WORST MOSQUITO INFESTATION! BUG SPRAY WILL CAUSE THEM TO LAUGH IN YOUR FACE. COME AWARE AND PREPARED.
Love this campground. Camp sites are not on top of one another. Staff is super friendly. They make rounds every night to make sure you dont need anything. Know a lot about the area and make great suggestions for things to do, go and see in the nearby area. Its a little off the beaten path, which is why we like it. Looking for a quiet campground? This is the place. Also has interesting history, complete with monuments.
What a great place. Definitely worth it for the price we paid.A little background; we booked this place because we knew it would be a quite, relaxing weekend and it was. I highly recommend the cabins. Theyre set up a little weird but still huge, and they have electricity and a bathroom. There is no running water, but if you pick a site that has a drinking fountain by it, you can wash your hands at the spigot. Each cabin has a porch, which was great because it rained most of the weekend. The staff was also very friendly and willing to help out if there was a problem. The bathrooms were clean.Just a couple of cons. There isnt a ton to do at the park, just some walks/hikes and a little bit of history. I wouldnt suggest this for a week-long trip with kids but it should be fine for a day or two. There are playgrounds. For adults that just need a break, its perfect. It is a little buggy, so be sure to pack the bug spray. I would not recommend the two electric sites, theyre basically in a parking lot. This is ideally for tent/cabin campers. Also, the soda machine was broken. We will definitely visit again.
Pros: quiet and secluded, quite far from any main roads so theres very little noise pollution. Dark at night. There was availability last minute over Labor Day weekend.Cons: very many mosquitoes. It had rained two days prior which may have exacerbated the nuisance. I stayed at the north lot and most of the tent lots were a little close to each other but half were vacant.
Ill start by saying that I love the fact that this is a historic site. For a day trip this would be a four star or even have five star potential with some very cool pavilions and picnic/cookout areas. As for camping it has the same downfall as most state parks. The camp sites are on top of each other with one or two exceptions. We did go on a weekend, but not a holiday, so out of the 9 sites (give or take) on the north loop there were us and 3 other sites occupied. One of witch did not show up until 9:30 and spent an hour trying to back-in a pop up camper. Lastly there are maps, but the road to the Native American Village is not marked so keep that in mind. It was a nice addition to the park. The vast majority, if not all of it seem to be recreated, but nonetheless its worth a look.
Has some great information at the overlook, and just absolutely beautiful. I am not too sure I am fond of the swing sets, some of them have overgrown grass, some just no swings on them at all, And some are just set in some odd places.Water fountians are nice, bathrooms are clean, and showers are nice.Campsites are a bit too close but if there are other people thereit would be a bit too close for my comfort. They are all cleaned up with a garbage can at each camp site. The site we wanted was already reserved, but they never showed up untill 9:30 at night, check in is at 3.. Im sorry but I do believe it was a bit rude as I personally do not like headlights shining in my eyes, bc they are backing their camper into the site. I thought there was supposed to be a cut off time to prevent this from happening. Besides the disrepectfulness of other, the campground itself it nice. One thing that I didnt get was there was no sign for the Indian village. As thats the most interesting part of the park.
This is really a picnic area with some campsites shoved in. Poor management of the area has left scant regard for quiet hour rules with no enforcement and bathroom facilities in much need of updating. I wouldnt recommend camping here, but certainly worth visiting for a picnic or day out.
We go camping here frequently over the summer to where some employees recognize us.such a great, quiet place to spend a weekend.the staff are wonderful and accommodating.public bathrooms and showers are as clean as they can be for a campground.views are breathtaking.so much to do.the little village, playgrounds for the kids, pavilions for parties.i cant wait for camping season so we can go back
Visited Memorial Day Weekend, very clean grounds and bathrooms, and friendly staff who know the area and gave an awesome recommendation for some serious single track mountain biking (Two Rivers Park by Waverly NY:) However the campsites are really for group camping since most are located in a open clearing with no privacy between the sights.

2022-06-21Cute little park. The few campsites they have are not very private (maybe the north loop) but you can still have a nice and relaxing weekend. The lady ranger is very polite and does a fine job in keeping the park clean. Just make sure you have the right gear if you camp.

2021-08-12Nice park with volleyball ground, campground, kids play area, restrooms. They also have firewood 🪵 @5$ or you can get it free at north site.On the camp reservation site it doesn’t show restrooms on north site but they do have restrooms on both campsites.I spent night in the park for camping ⛺️ but it was really horrible experience because of mosquitoes 🦟. Cant event stand/walk outside because of mosquitoes. Not recommend camping here with family.

2022-06-26Very interesting, the actual battle occurred more at the bottom of the hill by the river but the views from the top of the hill are wonderful.

2020-08-07Quiet small SP with 2 electric sites, 6 cabins and several basic campsites. Close enough to the Finger Lakes, Corning, Elmira and Ithaca.
