Nolans, what a phenomenal dining experience. Pictures do not do the size of the shrimp cocktail justice. We ordered 3 entrees to try. The Mixed Broil, Filet Dinner and the Chicken French. All we cooked to perfection. The chicken was incredibly tender in a lemon sherry sauce. This, paired with linguine pasta with a garlic butter sauce, was enjoyable. The filet was cuttable with a butter knife and was not under seasoned. By far, and all the dishes were great, the Mixed Broil was the showstopper. The cod was like butter. The scallops and shrimp so soft and effortless to enjoy. This dish was the best seasoned with flavors that made you close your eyes and say Mmmmmmm. A broil is not on the top of my list to order anywhere so when we picked this as the best of the night we were surprised. I could never come back without ordering this dish. Desserts were lemon cheesecake, carrot cake and creme brulee. Id have to say the desserts were just typical desserts youd get anywhere and quite sweet for our palettes. It honestly didnt make a difference as far as the rating of Nolans. Five stars and well deserved for the quality and service we experienced this evening.
This was way worth it only thing is I would get is potatoes instead of pasta if you get the chefs special. It was great and worth it went with my girl for the first time. I would go here again. The steak was amazing!!! Im picky when it comes to meat I got mines well done and it was so good I felt fat. I didnt have to eat the rest of the day
We went for my boyfriend’s birthday and it was fantastic! The bread came out fast and was warm with a delicious maple butter. I got the wedge salad as an appetizer, I highly recommend it was the best wedge salad I have ever had. For an entree I did the lamb which was perfectly cooked and the sauce was phenomenal. Strong drinks that were very good. Awesome service.
The rebuilt Nolans is a delightful place to dine. We arrived without reservations & were accommodated quickly into a comfy booth. The server was great in helping to choose which dish to order. The plentiful platter of calamari had a creamy wine sauce on the bottom plus marinara sauce to dip, simply too good. The entrees were fresh and so delicious, the smashed red potatoes so creamy. There was no room for dessert.
The atmosphere was clean and open. The wait staff was exceptional! The food was good. The price for drinks was outrageous! $8 for a beer (locally brewed, not exotic) $14 for a cocktail! The cocktails and beer costs rival the cost of menu items. Apparently theyre telling me to bring my own beer next time!
I reserved a table 3 weeks in advance for Father’s Day. We were still sat in the bar area. I expected more for a meal that cost over $150.00 for three people. The food was good, but the service really lacked. We never received our salads. We were never checked on for drink refills. The only good service we received was from the buss boy. I wish the busser had been our server. To add insult to injury, the server gave an apology that was, let’s say, lacking luster. The manager did come by and we gave our complaints. She took one round of drinks (two drinks) off our bill. However, in my opinion, it does not take away the sting of the horrible service we received, nor being sat at a high top table in the bar. We won’t return. We don’t recommend this restaurant.
Fabulous food 2nd drink took way too long to get to table but like everyplace seemed short staffed. Ate on patio. Good soup, salad, prime rib looked great twin lobster 🦞 tails were great and stuffed mushroom caps were excellent. We had 6 people two got the bowls they loved them.
Took my sons girlfriend here for her 17th birthday. We had dinner reservations and only had to wait a few moments. The hostess and the busser were extremely wonderful and took great care of us. Our waitress was not rude directly but very inattentive and rushed when she dealt with us; we were very confused as to why. It was so bad that she would literally just reach her hand around the wall to plop something on our table, only quickly came by once to check on us, and the most hilarious part -even though I had announced that we had a birthday girl at our table when we were ordering drinks/appetizers- the waitress literally just called over her shoulder as she was leaving the dining area to ask if we wanted coffee or dessert. God forbid she come to our table and ask if wed like to see a dessert menu or tell us our choices!!! Her name is Lydia, according to the receipt, and her service was so bad it was amusing!5 stars for this place in spite of Lydia. I actually consider the prices quite fair and the quality and portions excellent. My only gripe would be the sticker shock of the $16 coconut shrimp appetizer. It was a special so the price was a surprise. Otherwise no issues with pricing. I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp with its dipping sauce and the bread that was brought to our table looked mouthwatering! But I believe they gave us an old batch because it was cold and CHEWY like microwaved pizza crust! Cant wait to go back and try it fresh. Even with the little quirks we truly did have a nice dinner and then enjoyed the lake afterwards.I suggest trying their lobster roll which is large and tasty and the fries are really good, too. The pasta dishes were huge, and the chicken French was a giant portion. I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly.Well be back but hopefully we dont get Lydia!
Let me start off by saying the food is excellent hence the 2 stars BUT do not eat at the bar! The service is terrible. For starters OVER ten minutes to be greeted/acknowledged and there were 3 people working the bar. There wasn’t more then 3 couples at the bar at any given point. Literally after 20 minutes of sitting there with all our empty plates in front of us, we had to yell to get someone’s attention for the check who are right in front of us, ignoring us. I hope the owner or general manager reads this and takes it serious, because you have employees who are annoying your customers. On a check for 2 I spent $110. No problem when the food is good but I think twice when the service sucks. Bar back acted like he hated his job. The other 2 bartenders took there sweet time and were in there own world. I worked in the restaurant business and no how to hustle . I also run a business now and know what it takes to serve a customer, it’s not rocket science.
Some of the best food I have ever had! Me and my friends could not stopped talking about how delicious the food was! I had the salmon, which was one of the specials, the flavor combinations were exquisite. The filet mignon was perfection! And the lobster ravioli was sensational! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Wait staff are always excellent.Every time we call to make a reservation thier system is down. When you we do get to go as a walk in. You can see why they dont really need to accommodate new customers they seem to have a many repeat patrons.Great food good atmosphere, not good at accommodating new patrons.
Pretty subpar experience. Wasn’t terrible but also wasn’t a home run. The wedge salad was phenomenal, but the bacon wrapped scallops and steak was pretty subpar. Ordered my filet to be medium rare and it was definitely more medium well. The drinks were not that great either. They say fresh ingredients for the margaritas, but tasted very syrupy. Overall, a little disappointing based on all of the great reviews. I would pick somewhere different next time.
Nolans is not worth its high price tag. It cost 3 of us 110 dollars to eat there, which would not be a problem had I felt like I was eating at a nice restaurant rather than a slightly upscale sports bar.We ordered the calamari as an appetizer but they must have poured a whole can of peppers on them because they were soaking in pepper juice and soggy behind recognition. Our entrees were over all average and not worth talking about beyond there cost. For what was originally described to me as a seafood restaurant I found a rather lacking selection of seafood, scallops lobster salmon and cod was about the extent of their seafood list. Between being priced like a restaurant and having the atmosphere of sports bar, being a seafood restaurant without any fish, and over all sub par quality, nolans seems like it struggles for cohesive identity as it seems to fall between sports bar and upscale eatery. On the upside their steak menu was unexpectedly rife with options that all sounded tasty (although no one in our party got steak) and service was overall a pleasure. But in the end no one wants to pay fancy restaurant prices to eat at the sports bar, and no one wants to go watch the football game at there fancy restaurant.
We decided to try this place for takeout as we had heard good things and were left disappointed. They forgot several items, such as sides and dipping sauce for the burger/fries. The burger was bland and nothing special. The steak and smashed potatoes were delicious but the fact that so much of the meal was forgotten soured the whole experience.
The blonde lady behind the bar Saturday night was amazing!!! However the red head man was extremely rude and kept giving us dirty looks and he was the same way the last time we came . Not sure what his problem is but it made our dinner uncomfortable. Friendly staff is important and he was far from . 🤷🏻♀️
I searched Google for a quick dinner before a concert at Cmac and tried Nolan’s! What a terrific choice! The lettuce wraps were delicious as were the rolls and maple butter ! I had the Diablo salmon and my wife had the scallops! Both were terrific ! The Big Wave draft beer is a great choice! Make a reservation and enjoy!
We sat in the outside area and it was so hot the waitress came to ask about drinks so I mentioned it and she opened one of the Windows some which helped! But then she just walked away without getting our drink order and she went to other tables! She didnt tell us the specials and I also think she has something against people that come in with kids. I was a waitress and tip well as I know how it is! Just because it was my 4 kids and I doesnt mean we should be treated differently! She barely came over and anything I asked for acted like it was a big deal! I still gave her a decent tip but she would have gotten more had she not acted inconvenienced by us! Also the fish was super wet and soggy! She did do one nice thing and gave us an extra cookie and the baby shared food off our plates!
Nolans took our reservation the day of just a few hours before dinner. When we got there, we were seated a few minutes past our reservation time. The waitress took a lengthy time to come back and get our order (after checking to see if we were ready and we were not yet). There arent too many wines served there that are actually made in the finger lakes so being a visitor, that was a bummer. The captains platter was actually a great deal. The steak was cooked perfectly, the lobster was portioned well, the veggies were cooked tenderly & the tomato basil dressing on the salad was delicious. The scallops were melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The penne was slightly over cooked. They serve a great bread. The jumbo shrimp and cocktail sauce had a nice spice. We ended the night with a peanut butter pie which was more like I thick buckeye filling but it was decadent. The staff was rushed but kind. Overall, our time at Nolans was good and we left very satisfied.
First of all..we went for Mothers Day & not a good idea. Way too loud and hectic & busy!My sister paid $45 for a delmonico steak which she had to send back twice due to not being cooked the way she asked! I also ordered a steak but the filet mignon which wasnt cheap either and my food came out cold! They were nice enough to remake another steak but then my side dish got cold instead of just redoing the entire dinner. Management did end up taking our dinner off the bill so I guess overall, very good customer service in the end! I think I like going there more on non-holidays though.
We had a wonderful meal. My husband had a daily special with salmon and mine was scallops wrapped in bacon and we shared an antipasta salad that was delish. The warm bread and seasoned butter is heavenly. We also had dessert which is unusual for us. Peant butter pỉe & raspberry swirl cheesecake. We walked off the dinner by taking a walk on the pier.It was a cool sunny day just perfect!
Arrived at 4pm, we were told since we didnt have a reservation our only option for seating was at the bar or a high top in the bar area, the restaurant was completely empty. Very disappointing, poor customer service, neither person at the hostess desk even smiled when we walked in. We left went to another restaurant in the area without a reservation were seated promptly and customer service and food was excellent-
My Wife and I tried Nolans for the first time while we stayed at the Lake House. We chose to sit inside and were seated right away, although there seemed to be a wait for outdoor seating. With that being said Id be sure to make a reservation if you plan to go at a peak time.We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer. It came with 2 decent sized meatballs topped with lots of cheese and great red sauce. Overall, Id give them a 5/5 for the meatballs. For our main course, I ordered the pub burger, and my wife order the Bruschetta flatbread. She LOVED hers. It was a great balance between crispy and soft. My Pub burger was iight. They forgot my bacon (which every burger needs in my humble opinion), but the server ran back and grabbed some. The burger wasnt anything special to be honest. 3/5. The fries however, were very good and cooked to perfection. 5/5.Our server was very nice, but didnt come around that often. They seemed very busy, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt this time.If youre in the area, its for sure a decent place to grab a quick bite to eat.
Angus, our server, was very nice and did a great job. The calimari was different than anything Ive ever had and quite delicious with its roasted red peppers and cream sauce. There was one male employee that wanted to clear our plates twice before we were finished. Otherwise our time was enjoyable and the food was good
A bit pricey but it felt like a well warranted splurge. The salmon special was delicious.A super minor thing to complain about, but the complementary bread our hostess gave us (which we werent even expecting) was solid as a rock, like it had been sitting out all night
The first 2 times I went here before the renovations the service was great but quality of food was minimal. To be freak I could’ve cooked my own steak at home for better at a quarter of the price.Needless to say, if you ever want to see a restaurant pull a 180 come back and try her again post renovations. My gosh this is my favorite spot in the area now. Steak on point.Well done crew/owners
With a reservation we still sat for a while then something good happened. She sat us in the semi-outdoor area after getting the ok from one of their “Super Servers” to run a bit further to take care of us and one other party in this big room. Perfect for us to be away from the crowd in this omicron time. We ordered big (for us) on our anniversary and ate well, leaving a nice tip. Nolan’s has always been good.
We were greeted pleasantly and seated upon arrival for lunch, without a reservation, and at a very busy time. The food was excellent, the service flawless, and we werent hurried or pressured to vacate as we visited with out of town family wed met there for the occasion. I cant wait to return.
As we moved from another state we happened upon this place,, loved our first 2 times that we were there , , everything good, service great,, but unfortunately the third time was a little under whelming,, in every aspect ,, why,,,, not sure,,,, but I guess the time you go makes a difference,, afternoon first 2 times,, the third was toward the eve,, shortly after 4pm. I think something was missing it’s mark,, not happy camper on last visit sorry to say,,,😕
Great food, service, and environment. The newly rebuilt nolans is very nice. We had the Texas pickles, delmonico over smashed potatoes, my strip with sweet potato wedges, and finished with a slice of peanut butter pie. Everything was cooked to perfection and was delicious.
We ate here 10/26 for our second wedding anniversary. I wish I knew our waitress name because she was awesome. We arent from the area, we took a ride and went west and found ourselves here. We had reservations for 5, but we ended up with nothing to do and hungry shortly after 4. We went in a few minutes before 430. They still seated us at 4:27 and told us that it may be a few because the server wasnt due till 4:30. No problem, gives us time to decide. We got our water before the server arrived. And she was there right on the dime or before for 430. She was absolutely amazing, just the right amount of attention without being overbearing. The food was absolutely delicious as well. The best weve had since moving to NY. Mark our reservation for 10/26 because we will be back next year.ETA: We had the cheese garlic bread for an app and took party of it home. It was delicious especially with the marinara. My husband had the filet, I got a lobster roll. They were both equally fantastic.
Our Waitress was excellent, all the wait staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. The atmosphere was gorgeous, very nice setting. The food was mediocre. Scallops were under cooked and the Battered fish was bland. I would definitely try this restaurant again but next time I would order a burger. Great cocktails!
Got the 20 oz prime rib with garlic parmesan brussel sprouts. Man was that good!! This is the second time I have tried them since they have reopened and they are good. The food has not disappointed each time. I would also suggest the blue crab fondueThe only things that was off was the fact I found some crab shell in the fondue. But that was very minor.I will be back again there very soon
Welcome back Nolans! Prime rib was tender and very flavorful. Todds pork chop awesome.Restaurant very comfortable and service was very good. Highly recommend!Another visit on 1/8/19 and another excellent meal. Best restaurant in Canandaigua!Another visit and another great lunch on 2/26/21. The Sheridan is perfect.
Great experience! Went out to eat for a anniversary celebration of 25yrs. We hadnt been since the fire at Nolans and it still didnt disappoint. Food was great.. mixed broil - me and chicken french - wife. Price was reasonable for what we got, thought it would be more actually. Walked out stuffed and some to take home. Reservation only but this can be done online, pretty easy. Very happy with our service and will be returning again!!
Our food was delicious! My salad tasted like it was just picked greens. They have really improved the food. They’ve got the technology down (used open table). The grain salad with blackened salmon was phenomenal. Everyone in our party enjoyed every bit of our food and time here. So great to see you all again. Keep up the great work! It shows!
THIS IS A SECOND REVIEW FOR NOLANSThe management team invited us back to have dinner and to see if they were able to prove to us they are a Great restaurant in the area.We had dinner on Saturday night and let me tell youDINNER WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD AND DEBBIE OUR SERVER WAS THE BEST!!So glad we tried Nolans againWe will be back!!Thank you for inviting us back you truly have a nice place.Service was 5 stars but the food was only 3 starsThe prices for what you get is too high and when you get it the food doesnt eat wellOrdered the steak and I asked for medium and it was over cookedWhen the broccoli is the best part of the meal there is a problem with itNice place for atmosphere but food needs some help
Went last week and it was one of the best restaurants Ive been to in the finger lakes area. Got the special chimichurri 14 oz steak and as someone who usually cant finish a 6oz steak ate the entire thing. My family got lobster roll, lobster tail, shrimp, and more steak and everyone finished their entire meal. Also got dessert and would highly recommend the peanut butter pie. Will definitely be returning as soon as possible it is worth every penny
We ordered Coconut Shrimp, Garlic Bread, Tessas Shrimp, Broiled Seafood Dinner, Pork Chop, Grain Bowl, Lobster roll. There were 5 of us, our waitress was great but the food was very sub-par. None of us would order any of it again. We were a happy bunch and tried everyone elses food to see if it was just our own order/how bad it was, but it was bad all around. The garlic bread was mushy, the coconut shrimp was strange with a dip that didnt quite go with it. The person that really wanted to have the shrimp said they had better quality/taste from a box of frozen. The broiled dinner was tasteless except for the very fishy fish, the scallops were barely warm and undercooked. The Tessas Shrimp pasta was overcooked and mushy, the pork chop was so salty it was barely edible, the grain bowl was underwhelming. Save your money, this restaurant apparently is just clinging to their past reputation. We wont be back.
Amazing food.My husband is critical of almost every place we go to but he stated this place was amazing from the homemade salad dressing to the perfectly cooked prime rib. Seafood chowder and French onion soup were amazing as well. Will be back for more again and again.
I always look forward to going to Nolans. Warm and friendly service, nice atmosphere, great food, creative drinks. A little pricey so it is a treat when we go. Today was a big disappointment though. My dinner was horrible. The lobster was under cooked, brussel sprouts over cooked and greasy, and the carrot cake, well not so good. The saving grace was the hearty seafood chowder, with every bitefull filled with a variety of chunks of tender, flavor-filled seafood. We will go again but next time I will be more assertive with the waitress if my meal is sub-par.
Nolan’s accommodated our large group (12) in a private room and provided excellent service throughout the evening. The food was exquisite. The server (Heather H.) made sure repeatedly that we were all taken care of... when every one else’s food was being served, she immediately brought tomy attention that my salmon hadn’t turned out well and they were preparing a new one, on the house. I appreciated that gesture very much. Very classy atmosphere, great service, fine dining at its best. Bravo.
Nolans is easily the best restaurant in the Canandaigua area. I would have given it five stars except for two problems that are by no means the fault of this fine establishment. Many of the neighboring restaurants are having difficulty finding staffing. As a result Nolans is one of very few that serve dinner. Because they are the best in the area, reservations need to be made far in advance and even then, they are limited to whats available. The food is excellent and the service top notch! Prices are very reasonable as well which makes Nolans the choice for locals and tourists alike.
Unfortunately my folks and cousins didnt care for the over priced lunch! French Onion Soup was fine with me as it was not salty but didnt have much flavor. I had the Shierdan which was good but all the other meals were poorly seasoned and burnt spicy chicken. My cousin had all burnt sweet potato fries and when asked for another batch wasnt much better! Gorgeous renovated place but much needed culinary training.
Food was served in a timely manner. It was cooked well. I had veal parm the veal was good but the sauce tasted off, possibly some of the components were out of a can. Over all 7 out of 1o. Mash potatoes were cold but had good flavor.Nothing amazing here. Good environment to sit outside.
Service was terrible, they forgot all 5 of the appetizers and the drinks took forever. We used to love going here but now it just seems like a money grab after the new building was built. We enjoyed celebrating holidays and anniversary here, but I think its time to find a new location. Nothing like taking my father out for fathers day and him wishing I made reservations some where else.
We were seated at 4:15 pm. My boyfriend asked for a Genny beer- he was brought a Guiness. We ordered 2 burgers- medium rare. At 530pm we still had no food- we asked to have dinners to go as we had to be somewhere. Waitress was great apologizing the whole time. She brought them 5 min later. When we opened food both burgers were well done and we were given no condiments. Not a great experience this time.
We have gone here several times. Its beautiful, especially the decor for the holidays. The staff is awesome. The food is delish. We havent tried their outdoor seating yet. But we have never been disappointed in any way. The restrooms are always clean and nice. They offer lots of ways to make reservations. I use the open table app on my phone. They are tech savvy.
I was recently here to celebrate my 30th birthday which was April 23rd. I had planned a month in advance and I was extremely excited to go to Nolans especially after reading the great reviews and looking over the menu, I mean you cant go wrong with pasta, steak and seafood right? First things first there wasnt one time that one of the few waiters and waitresses serving us introduced themselves, welcomed us for it being our first time or even acknowledged the reason we were there. Ive never been to any restaurant and that didnt happen before that night. I ordered the lobster ravioli with a lobster tail on the side and it was pretty tasty but not the best Id ever had but I did expect better. Everyone else ordered steaks and a couple of them werent cooked to their satisfaction, Im not sure if it was management or not that came to the table to see how everything was and even after hearing about the dissatisfaction of the steak nothing was done about it but instead offered a free slice of cake to make up for a steak that he himself also agreed wasnt cooked correctly for the way it had been ordered. I will say that none of the staff was rude but it just didnt seem to be a place that was run in a professional manner in my opinion. I understand being overwhelmed and maybe not being fully trained if that was the case but the bare minimum of what customer service should be like wasnt even met. After dinner was done I met another person who dined there and happened to be leaving the same time as us and over heard my girlfriends and I discussing our disappointment and he too had the exact dining experience and we werent alone in feeling that way.Sad to say because of my experience with Nolans I wont be returning or recommending.
My experience was horribleIt started with being served flat soda and the waiter admitting the soda needed changing, but still brought us flat soda. Ordered potato puff appetizers which had no taste and ordered the garlic bread which was missing the garlicOrder captains platter which was supposed to be filet migion not sure what it was but definitely not any black Angus I ever tastedThe lobster tail was rubbery. But here is the worst of it, the lobster tails were brought to table without clarified butter and when asked for, the waiter brought one small cup of the butter and told us we could share the butter. We explained we ordered two dinners and would like separate butters. The family across from us ordered lobster tails and all in the party received butter on their plate without asking for it. Our butter was brought out in the servers hand. Not cool.We feel there was definitely racial profiling happening and we traveled from Rochester NYIts not about the travel or even the cost, but it would have been nice to be treated as guests and not as 2nd rate citizens. We will not be ever going back, but it was very obvious we would not be welcomed nor were we welcomed this time
A bit underwhelming to be honest. We moved to the area recently and was quite excited to see there was a nice steakhouse we can go to based on the reviews. Overall we weren’t impressed by the quality of service we got. We didn’t even know our server’s name when she finally came over to take our orders. We have been waiting for a while that we were ready to order them all at once. Usually we can understand if the restaurant is busy, but towards the end of the night, we decided to ditch desserts since it took our waitress a while to come back even though it was just us and another table left. We didn’t even get a chance to tell our waitress that our calamari was undercooked or that my drink was not what I ordered! The table next to us was also not having a stellar experience so glad we weren’t the only ones. Entrees were fine, but don’t think we’ll be coming back anytime soon.
I went last year for Valentines Day and it was excellent. I went the day after Christmas, this time, and wasnt as impressed. A big issue for me is the Lobster. It just doesnt have the right texture to me. While it tastes ok, it seems rubbery. In 3 of the 4 lobsters I have tried here I havent enjoyed them. This time the prime rib wasnt the best either. Perhaps it had rested too long. Again, the taste was OK but the texture, off. I wish it were better, and while I want to give a better review, my wifes dinner had to be recooked as the first was overcooked. On recook she said it was perfect. Service was fantastic. I upped my review to reflect the quick and sincere response from Nolans. Its nice to eat at a place where people care about their food and service, even in these trying times.
The food was a bit underwhelming. Good wine selection, however, with very few NYS wines, which was surprising. I was led to believe by the name that there would be a lake view, but that was not the case. Overall, pretty mediocre. Probably a good place to take your in-laws.
I ordered the captains platter. It was fantastic. This is truly an upscale place, from the decor to the staff. It is a cut above the rest. You can go busniess casual or dress up to the nines. The ambiance is relaxing and classy. Now, back to my captains platter...in consists of a piece of filet mignon (8oz), lobster tail (6oz) a side salad and potato, oh, it also included an appetizer of shrimp cocktail, all for $48. The filet was cooked to a perfect medium/medium well. The lobster tail was made to perfection and already pulled completely out of shell, which is one of those little things that just makes it better for you. Even the sweet potato fries with honey were great. I hardly ever tell the waiter to give my compliments to the chef, but I absolutely did here. It was well deserved. For the two of us, the bill came to $111. This included my meal, her meal of 12 oz prime rib, and also and appetizer pear gorgonzola salad, which was equally tasty as it included candied walnuts and crisp prosciutto. She had a glass of wine as well. I would highly recommend this place for a nice evening out. I will def go here again. A+
Prime rib was cooked to perfection, but lacked flavor. Lobster ravioli was awesome, but the serving size was too large. The garlic bread that comes as a side has a frozen consistency and lacks taste. Server was attentive but very busy, asked for salt and took about ten mins to bring it to us.
Celebrated my 68th Birthday at Nolans. My Filet Mignon was Excellent but as with many restaurants now their menu seems to offer a few less items and prices a bit high but great food. They have Specials as well. Staff all very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Reservations are highly recommend !! If no reservation you may be able to be seated in the bar area or at a high stool tables which isnt bad. They have a covered outside eating area which is great during the nice warm weather. They have Curbside Pickup as well. I highly suggest eating at Nolans 💙
I really wanted to find something to ding Nolans for. Honest. Some dark, dirty thing that would justify me knocking off a star. All I got is that theyre too popular. Trying to get a table can be a bit of a challenge. We tried to get in on a Friday night, but couldnt actually get a good table until Sunday afternoon. But you know what? The wait is worth it.People are going to tell you that the patio is beautiful. It is. Theyre gonna tell you that the service is great. It sure as sarsaparilla is. Theyre going to mention that the food is phenomenal. Of course it is! Would I be giving this place 5 stars if it wasnt? What you need to know is that its fresh and its worth it. The bread is made locally and it is MINDBLOWING. I loved the bread so much that I ate the lobster out of my lobster roll separately so I could just eat the bread. Not lying. All the desserts are also local. And amazing. (Get the carrot cake, devour it - unless youre allergic to walnuts or coconuts, or just dont like carrots. No, even if you dont like carrots.)TLDR: If you find yourself in Canandaigua to visit your mothers pet catfish, or passing through on your way to deep-sea octopus-hunting lessons, stop at Nolans. Its worth it.
08/06/2021. Very difficult to get a reservation at this place on a Friday or Saturday evening. Must call a month in advance. We lucked out, as I was speaking a cancelation came in. 6:15pm. When we arrived warmly greeted an seated immediately on the patio as we requested. Cheerful, professional waitress attended to us. All orders were perfect. Fried calamari is very different here and very delicious. Mixed grill was very well presented and equally good. Asiago scallops was also a good choice. Each entre came with salad and vegetables. House made salad dressings were also delicious. Not rushed
Update: Nolans management reached out to me to apologize for our experience and to try to make things right. They sent us a nice gift card to use to come back and give them another shot to improve our experience. We look forward to going back and hoping to improve our review!Went for Fathers day. Got the dinner menu at 1pm lunch which we werent expecting. Seated right away with our reservation which was nice. Alcoholic drinks took almost 30 minutes to get to the table. Ordered an appetizer and soup for before the meal and they never came so we said we didnt want them. The salads that came with our meals never came so we advised her not to bring them. When waitress brought our main food we told her we never got them and she blamed it on the bussers because they were supposed to bring them but she never even came to check. She told us she would take it off the bill. Well the salads you cant take off the meal because they were supposed to be included in our dinners. My main course a Cobb salad came out with no dressing, she went to get it and it took 15 mins before she came back with no dressing so we had to ask again.Second round of bar drinks took another 30 minutes. When asked where the drinks were she blamed it on the car being backed up, but then came right back with it magically. We were offered a free dessert for our trouble. Something else should have been done because we didnt want dessert and didnt want to bring dessert home either. We have been to Nolans in the past and even got engaged at Nolans when it was lakefront and this was not the same.Plus is that food we did get was very good, but for 150$ the service wasnt great and it really wasnt busy at the time we were their either.
We have dined at Nolans when it was really located by the lake and offered a lake view! So dinning here always brings back great memories. The menu offers choices for all palates and the food is of top quality. I enjoyed the French onion soup and my husband advised me the baked potatoe soup was a close second to mine! The fish and chips half portion was perfect for lunch; the fish was perfectly battered and fried to perfection. These are just a few reasons why we drive almost 2 hours to have an enjoyable lunch with excellent food and great service!
It was our first time there, we met for lunch. Its very nice! We sat outside very comfortable, fireplace is beautiful & Fall decorated. I ordered Katies Reuben, absolutely delicious 😋 The others had chicken salad wraps & a portabella mushroom sandwich, we all had sweet potatoes. Mmmm!!
Just excellent! I went on a date night with my wife without the kids for the first time in a very long time. The service was quick, the drinks were strong, and the food was excellent! I had the fillet and lobster tail and it might’ve been one of the best I have ever had.
While our server was pretty good! (Kudos) I was not impressed with the overall service and food! The menu seemed like it was going to be EVERYTHING, but my medium steak was burnt (-_-) and that said a lot. The bussers were really odd, they came and stood near the table without speaking and hovered. And then the manager came in and looked around without saying anything or checking on any of the tables. (Also odd) At the end of dinner after the server brought the check, he came over and touched me and asked me how the dinner was. (Creepy) I told him about the burnt steak and instead of taken something off the bill, he offered me a piece of cake! (-_-) Again it wasnt the worst restaurant ever but most certainly a let down for the prices! But it has potential.
Huge thank you to Nolans for being so accommodating and having such amazing food. I ordered their food for my dads birthday party and they were extremely easy to work with, very friendly and most importantly the food was incredible! Would recommend them to anyone looking for a wonderful meal. I will be using them again for future parties.
Went to Nolans for first time. Not sure its because they can hire help but the service was horrible. Rolls were heated microwave and hard to chew and like rubber. A glass of wine is a quarter of a glass of wine. Salads were made wrong and no plates for rolls. On a good note the main meal was killer good
I have been to Nolans twice so far. The service has been excellent and above reproach. However the food was a disapointment. On my first visit the fish fry was a salty cod. Service took it off tje bill and compensated with a delightful Creme Bruille. Tasty but lacking crispy top. On my second visit the Prime rib lacked flavor and the fat was not rendered. Not what I expected.
Friendly attentive service in a casually relaxed atmosphere. Good place to have drinks before dinner which are made by well trained bartenders. Food is consistently excellent and moderately priced. Our table of six ate for under $200.00 with drinks. Three different steaks dinners were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The chicken and fish dinners were also well prepared and delicious. Parking is ample and reservations are strongly recommended.
Overpriced upscale place that seems a little too uppity for the quality of the food. Apps were decent, but my chicken Parm was dry, and just way over cooked. Companions steak was cooked well, the Alfredo was okay, not great. Bill was over 200 for 4 people for four mains, 2 shared apps and no alcoholic drinks.
My new go to for date night. The service, food and ambiance are always delightful. All 3 visits have been nothing short of sheer perfection. Being a fellow soùs chef for 20yrs., giving such high praise is no small matter. I highly and enthusiastic recommend anyone looking for an amazing meal to come here. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Great food and drink. Only issue was that as we were eating the staff began to vacuum around us. Also we barely got our salad and entrees were delivered. This was our first experience like this, please don’t clean up while customers are still trying to enjoy their meal.
Food was delicious! Server was fantastic and even surprised our Birthday person with a Happy Birthday song! Atmosphere was great. Had plexiglas dividers between each table for safety as well as offering a feeling of openness and space. Ample parking. Highly recommend. 👍
This was a good lunch choice! Have not been here since the restaurant was taken down and the new venue a lovely place - inside and outside dining. The salads were outstanding. Many people enjoying the lunch time as well and social distancing. Very reasonable and unbelievably large bowls of salad.
So beautiful food was very good my husband got the cowboy steak but liked my Filet mignon better lol it was all a great time and our waitress was amazing also the hostess sat us like right away so it was nice to be able to walk in and find a table ready to go without reservations we will definitely go back
Im sorry, this place was a HUGE disappointment!!! 1st time was take out ,I had fish and chips, though I was eating mush,, the deep fry batter was not tasty or crispy. Ok always willing to give a place a 2nd chance had 20oz Prime Rib, FUHGEDABOUTIT, the seasong at best was so so, had fries with it,,not fresh or warm, the aujus had the consistency of a syrup!! Ony good I have to say about the food is the stuffed mushroom caps were Fantastic,,and the waitress was very nice. Ill eat at Arbys if I want beef when Im in canandagiua next time.
Attended a wedding. The coordinator (Kristin?) from Nolan’s was rude, condescending and disrespectful. She began taking off table coverings and packing up with nearly an hour of the wedding left to go. While I appreciate that the Country Club likely contracts with Nolan’s, they should assure a positive public face is being put on the club by ALL workers and staff. She also was not very nice to the very young workers and staff.
My partner and I ordered from here tonight I got the Alfredo with broccoli, chicken and shrimp. This was the worst Alfredo I have ever had it tasted like it was heavy cream mixed with water from the broccoli. Only thing that tasted decent was the chicken. For over 20.00 not worth it.
Our luncheon was very good as well as the serviceMy concern is that Nolan’s was listed as a lake side restaurant. There isn’t even a view. The outside seating is adjacent to a busy noisy highway. We thought we’d be sitting on a quiet deck by the water,There were several other restaurants listed under lakeside that weren’t even close. Let’s update the description so people aren’t disappointed. We drove an hour and a half for a noisy not relaxing lunchSusan
We went to Nolan’s for the first time today and I’m sorry to say they didn’t make a great first impression with us. We made a reservation and arrived on time. Waited to be seated and once we sat down we ordered our drinks. The waitress was very friendly and took our order. My husband and I both ordered the fried fish and chips. Once the dinners arrived and I started to eat it the fish didn’t look right and once I smelled it the fish smelled like ammonia. The fish was bad. We told the waitress and she took it back and brought us something else. We feel that for the quality of the food you receive the prices are very high. We never had anyone other than the waitress apologize to us. Poor customer service. Needless to say we won’t be going back. This would be a NO STAR review if that was an option. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Nolans never disappoints. Service at lunch was friendly and attentive. The wraps were delicious and huge. Enough to take home for dinner. The only downside came from a cluster of black flies near the table. They became much more intrusive when the food was delivered. Lunch was tasty and reasonably priced. Always worth a trip to Candaigua. Visit and enjoy.
Nolans has great food. They need to train staff who answer calls to actually help customers with clear communication. If a side is included with a meal, dont make it sound like it is extra. Do French fries come with the meal? should not be answered with Sure, you can order them as a side. Really? The answer is Yes when the menu includes them. Previous order was for a full Fish and Chips. Got a half version, charged for full. Discovered after picking up and leaving. Please, Nolans, you have a great restaurant. Train your staff and help them know they are not the DMV. Thanks!
Wonderful food and wonderful service! I had the lamb rack with sweet potato fries. The lamb was cooked perfectly and was tender, and the sweet potato fries were very good! One of their signature cocktails, the Berry Smash, is a must-try if you like rum and fruit. Definitely a bit expensive, but worth it and if you need to treat yourself, I can wholly recommend Nolans!
Our favorite restaurant in Canandaigua... the server was exceptional!! She rattled off the specials by heart, made great suggestions, picked up empty plates and glass and noticed when we needed a drink or water refill. The food is always very good. My sons prime rib sandwich was huge. Our Chef salads with scallops on the side were great! The stuffed mushrooms with bernaise are genius. The only complaint was that the calamari which is usually the highlight was sortof soggy. It could have been crispier. Its always nice to get a mix of rings and squigglies along with peppers in the calamari. We love sitting on the patio. It is so clean, safe and comfortable!!!
Great food and atmosphere at a fair price. We made a 715 reservation for a Wednesday night. Looked busy but no waiting we were seated at a high table by the bar. The decor gives an upscale special vibe, Id be more than happy to celebrate a special occasion here, the table itself was really nicely done. My wife and I both had seafood, stuffed sole and broiled seafood mix, and really enjoyed our meal. Look forward to going again next time we are in the area.
Stopped today for Sunday lunch with my brother and sister, first time here. Everything was wonderful from beginning to finish. What a lovely place!! Im glad we finally made it here.I should add we had our anniversary dinner here several weeks ago. We both ordered the Kansas City strip which was a special. We both ate it all. It was perfect and so was our server, who sent us off with a very lovely dessert to eat at home since we were so full.Reservations are a must here. This place is crazy busy with both locals and visiting tourists. With covid-19 regulations in place we still managed to have a wonderful meal here for my husbands birthday. Service and food wonderful as always. But please be sure to get reservations first its almost a must.
Its a very nice building. Unfortunately, the food was just ok at best. The tenderloin for my wife was well done, not medium and no way to share as we hardly saw our server. They are trying to be a higher end dining experience with middle of the road service and food.
I was told I could have a steak at this location. At first there was some confusion. The confusion was lunch menu vs. Dinner menu. The dinner menu had the steaks and I was there at 1pm. I was accommodated with my steak request. I ordered the captains platter. The steak and lobster tail were cooked well and I was very happy. Salad and warm buttered bread was good. I thought the shrimp cocktail was not good. The shrimp was very chewy. The staff was very helpful. Very nice place.
Brought my family here tonight for my womans birthday. She was very pleased with the service and food everything was awesome. Best tasting lobster I have had in a long time it most certainly is better than red lobster. The steak demonico was delicious I highly recommend it. Very good waitress brought out pitcher of water immediately along with bread. The lighting could be brighter. Lol I am very impressed with this place and I will spread the word around bc this is the best place I have been to in a while and I go out a lot. Thank you for the experience we really appreciate it and most of all thank you for making her birthday special. God bless and happy holidays from us all
Nolans Restaurant has a great feel inside and the food is incredible. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend eating here. However, with the Pandemic Still Here, the outdoor seating option was very misleading. Its technically inside with one very large window that is machine operated on one wall and there are a couple more on another wall. Sadly, weather will play a factor if these are actually open or closed, or other customers requesting to have them lowered/or closed. If you are uncomfortable eating in an enclosed space, are with older people, or having other reasons to need an outdoor space to eat at, I would suggest another place to eat.
My husband took me here for a birthday dinner.. an hour and half away. I ordered the filet i explained to the server I wanted it more to the med to well side. She said okay we will order it well. I agreed. It came out rare it was still bloody when I cut into it. Server came back and took it back to kitchen to be recooked. Brought it back the smaller side was well and tasteless, the other side when I cut into it was still red. For $30.00 I felt it should have been nothing less than amazing. I order filets all the time this by far was the worst. I did send emails to owners and did not receive any response so therefore I am reviewing here. I would have loved to give them a 5 star 🌟.
I loved my lobster roll and my husband liked his fish fry because it wasnt overly breaded, a real plus around here. Decor was very attractive with a pretty fireplace on one wall. But one little paper napkin per meal is inadequate especially when I had to use it to protect my red wine from gnats. We asked our waitress for more but none were forthcoming. The place wasnt crowded but other tables received more attention than we did. Thats my only complaint.
For our 35th Anniversary our daughter gave us a gift certificate from Nolan’s. We had not been there since the rebuild and were excited to go. The bad weather hit and we thought oh no can’t go, but we went anyways!! Took us about hour longer than normal!! We are glad we did. Dana our bar tender and Desiree our waitress were fantastic. I had broiled seafood platter and my husband had prime rib both excellent. We want to make this our every year anniversary dinner! But plan on going in the summer to sit on the patio!!
This is a decent place for dinner. The menu is simple and they have plenty of rotating specials. I havent been here before but the name is a bit funny since I expected to be lakeside for dinner. We had reservations for the outdoor patio, which is technically indoors with huge roll up window walls. The one thing I didnt like was the booth seating. The bench seat is awkwardly long with the backrest out of sight. Not very pleasant to sit on. Other than that, the food was delicious and the staff was kind and very prompt with everything.
We had reservations for 3 at 1 pm today (Sunday) which was made two days prior. It took 30 to 40 minutes later for our food to arrive after we ordered. Food was fine nothing outstanding, great holiday decor, very beautiful , new building which is awesome. Manager asked for us to leave at 3 pm, people next to us came in when we did and still were there and many open booths. This was very upsetting to me and my sisters as we were celebrating xmas, our mother passed this year along with my sisters husband and my is sister fighting cancer. We wanted to start a new tradition. We also had left a great tip to Carly who was great. The manager was unprofessional and lacked experience in customer service. I will not recommend my clients, friends and family to Nolans in the future.
Excellent food, relaxing environment, attentive staff. Excellent selection, variety and price range. Seafood chowder was excellent. Filet mignon, yum! Grain bowl was tasty. Just plain water or large selection of wines/beers. They are always busy....make a reservation if you can. Following all Covid- 19 guidelines. Deck is great...if you can get a table outside.

2022-02-02We finally made it here after all of the family talking it up for years - got treated to a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. Were able to make reservations for 4:45 the day before. Service was good, atmosphere was nice and comfy, but for some reason I expected fancier when looking at the menu ahead of time. But we value comfort over fancieness every day, so it was all good to us.Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. Dad raved about his shrimp cocktail, and they said their bacon wrapped scallops were perfectly done. My favorite item of everything was the Potato Puffs appetizer, which I may just get for my main next time. DELICIOUS! Description doesnt do them justice. Hubbys burger came as ordered and the french onion soup was very good.Well be back if they offer to pay and take us back next year! Would be nice over the summer, too, Im sure, on the water. Pics included of everyones food. :)

2022-04-05The food here was Amazing! Everything was skillfully executed. The stuffed mushrooms with bernaise are a must. Probably some of the best bernaise Ive ever had. It was creamy , rich well balanced...hard to do without splitting. The seafood chowder was loaded with scallops, shrimp, & lobster...the best chowder Ive ever had. ( Ive probably had hundreds over the years)It wasnt too thick, and was well seasoned.I didnt like the Mule that I had. The ginger beer they used was too aggressive and overly floral. However the Dirty Martini was well done and we appreciated the options to have different style olives. The Berry Smash was also good.My husband had the Pork Chop dinner and was day dreaming about eating another one the next day! It was juicy, well seasoned with well rendered crispy fat edges. Would absolutely eat there again!

2022-02-07Beautiful place- very clean and welcoming. We love to sit in the booth near the fire place- you feel warm and comfortable, like at home. Food is excellent: looks like cook knows his own secret of preparing meat and sauces. Excellent and fast service. Rayan makes your visit highly important to the restaurant- he is exceptionally attentive to your wishes and choices. His service is so highly professional that you do not need to call him - he is here even if you move your eyes. He knows everything of each meal on menu and his suggestions are very helpful. It is your lucky day if Rayan assists you in food suggestions

2022-01-24Nice place with good ambience. The salmon special was delicious. It was some of the best salmon Ive ever had. The porterhouse was also delicious (although it was overdone when it first came out, but that was quickly and easily corrected by our server and the kitchen). The service was great. Ill go back for any main course, but skip the desserts. They arent made in house and I was very disappointed in the chocolate raspberry cake.

2022-06-1509/2021: Food was good, service was great. Our server Amanda was very nice, helpful, and joyful to talk to. It was nice that they squeezed us in late in the evening. Great atmosphere.06/2022 Update: Service and food are consistently great. During lunch the buffalo chicken wrap is delicious. For dinner the calamari is good as always, the lobster roll is even better, and who doesn’t love a good burger. Finishing dinner off with carrot cake that is to die for is the perfect way to do it. 10/10.

2022-02-05Meh..... Wife took me here for a surprise bday dinner and we werent overly impressed.... She had the strip steak, and it was nothing special same quality as what I normally prepare her at home on the cast iron...... I had the mixed seafood broil, and it was more like a boil or a microwave, COVERED in old bay. The fish was mush and tasteless, the scallops were all stuck together and mush as well, the shrimp were ok but buried in old bay. The salads and desserts were solid, the atmosphere was nice and the floor staff was great, (thus the 3 stars and not two) our waitress really tried.... No one other than her came to our table after my complaint and send back on the fish, and we were never offered anything off our bill (I would have refused the offer as I always do, or put the difference on the tip). I most likely wont go back on my own.

2021-09-09Service from top to bottom was fantastic. The food...even better. Started with the coconut shrimp, which was superb with honey and mango haberno dipping sauce; not hot at all, just intense flavor. French soup was very cheesy and tasty (says the better half). Main courses of a lobster roll with melted butter for me and the mixed broiled with North Atlantic Cod, jumbo shrimp and jumbo sea scallops. Also, a crab cake...all were divine! Will be back.P.s. we got desert to go...havent had it yet.
