Painters in other cities:
This is by far one of my favorite places in the Suffolk county... I dont have to say anymore their food is amazing The selective bands And music are just very homey ......friendly environment and I can see from seeing familiar people all the time... A lot of regular customers keep coming back... Its just a gem of a location..
I dont see what the big deal is with the place. I think it gets hyped up because its the only place you can eat, see live music, and listen to a DJ (aka Now Thats What I Call Music playlists) in the area. The crowd is 80% couples, and 5% of any other variation of people you can think of. Parking is horrendous at times. The place empties out by midnight on Fridays. Zzzz.
I recently returned to painters Cafe and have changed my rating to one star, I would give it a zero if possible. Poorly prepared grilled tuna made my partner extremely ill and the pulled pork I had obviously came out of 5 gallon plastic bucket. Make sure you have an extremely strong stomach before you eat there.
Google said Not too busy and there are a bunch of empty tables, but its still an hour wait. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt on that as lots of people had reservations.Real nice atmosphere, great food, large portions, but really uncomfortable metal chairs with low backs that you just slide out of if you leave back at all.The bathroom toilet didnt flush, the stall door was difficult to close, and there was no coat hook.I guess its fitting that afterwards I got a bit sick from gluten contamination. My dad had a completely different meal and he got sick too.
Flavor of food was great! But both mine and my wife’s steak/burger were overdone by a lot. Ordered Medium, came out more than well… Atmosphere etc was great. But my biggest complaint was one pint of Focal Banger was $18!!! Crazy. I’ve been to the main brewery in Vermont and it’s not even $18 for a 4 pack. I understand making a profit, but $18 for that pint is a crime! Maybe at least put the price on the menu (wasn’t listed). All that said, we had a wonderful experience and enjoyed the restaurant a lot; but that price has to come down for a pint of beer. We will come back, but I won’t be ordering that beer again! Haha
My favorite neighborhood restaurant! Always featuring the best all natural menu with a great variety of salads, apps and entrees that are all very filling and delicious. I’ve been going there for years but recently ordering to go since COVID and They never disappoint. I usually order a French onion soup with juicy New York strip & chopped salad with grilled shrimp. My husband likes to try different items every time we order. He also loves the baked chicken and the steaks as well.
The service was really good. The food was just okay. My chicken caesar was decent. Two others really liked theirs, one said meh, and the other was wayyyyy disappointed. It was super busy, so maybe thats why? I would for sure go again if Im in town, but definitely try something different.
Very disappointed. Ordered a seafood dinner special of seafood over yellow rice. The seafood was cold and rubbery. The rice was warm. Didnt bother to bring it to the waitress attention cause I didnt want my dinner nuked to warm it up. The fried mozzarella was a slab of cold cheese with bread crumbs and the Thai Steak Sticks were ordered medium rare came to the table medium well and not hot. Was looking forward to a nice dinner and didnt receive that.
The food is okay but the the portions are way too small for the price. My dish only had 6 shrimp for $34. The fried mozzarella was literally a slice of cheese fried with a ton of sauce on it. Overall nice atmosphere but the food is over priced for the portion size. To top it off they charge to use a credit and debit card.
Just went for drinks and appetizers with a group. Pulled pork nachos were excellent and calamari was ok nothing special. Very very crowded, if youre looking to meet someone perfect spot. Unfortunately the times we live short staffed however the best pulled pork nachos. Good luck getting a drink if youre at the bar. Very very crowded atleast 4 deep by the bar. When I write a review I include the whole experience. Definitely try the food very good, tasty and reasonable prices. Just be prepared to wait I definitely would describe the atmosphere as a meatmarket In all fairness to the establishment short staff that said that seems to be the new normal in most places however considering the crowd they did the best with what they have!!
Most regretful $200 I ever spent, based on the actions of the waiter and the owner Mike Omelchuk, I spoke to after. The owner was rude and ungrateful and showed a complete lack of respect or gratefulness to my patronage-- our waiter under his management(or lack thereof) seemed to display the same attitude when he didnt receive the tip he expected. Cowardly and confused, Mike should be ashamed of himself. Clearly not the brains of the operation.
Third time there and have yet to be disappointed. Its a laid back bar atmosphere where you are surrounded by local art. Portion sizes are great and the food is delicious. The wait can be a little long but they allow reservations so call ahead and book it. Ill be back again to get the nachos with painted chicken, delicious.
The food is horrible.....I asked for margarita pizza I got an ElliosPizza that you can pick up from King kullen... the baked clams tasted like instant baked clam mix.... And how do you screw up nachos with cheese and chicken... Painters did... Great place for a drink and to listen to a live band... Thats about it! I was excited to go back to painters after 23 years of living in Miami Beach... This place is great when I was younger... Now not so much... At least for eating...
Great place, great food, great service (under the circumstances)They were absolutely short-staffed, BUT our waitress communicated with us and let us know how things were progressingA perfect opportunity to relax, catch-up with friends and have a great experienceWould absolutely recommend this place
It was really nice getting out after all these months! Outside seating is a part of their usual seating arrangements so felt natural. Large area, tables spread out, we had 10 guests(max), at one large U shaped table. Service as always prompt, and friendly, food choices, and quality very good, hasnt changed.Prices are very reasonable. Variety of drinks but special cocktails can be pricey-$15 or more. Stick to large variety of beers.A really nice place for happy hour, dinner with friends and family. Have been here many times and plan on returning many more!
I cant say enough good stuff about this restaurant. My daughter had her Wedding here recently and we couldnt have asked for better service, the food is absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. I highly recommend Painters for any occasion. Very Satisfied all around.
Not worth the money. The French onion soup was lackluster. The fried mozzarella looked and tasted like a breaded slab of poly-o. Strip steak was edible but not great. Dessert was a cookie ice cream Sandwhich. Cookies were lame. Cost 5 of use $316 with a tip. I would have rather gotten McDonald’s and lit my $300 on fire. That way I wouldn’t have wasted nearly three hours of my life.
A huge fan of Painters Restaurant. When making plans with friends and family in the Bellport area this is my go to place. The drinks are fun and delicious, the pulled pork nachos appetizer is a crowd favorite, and any entree I’ve had is really tasty. Tonight, I took my son here for the first time....we shared the calamari, he got the Georgia O’Keefe burger and our waiter highly recommended the chicken Marsala to me (two large cuts of chicken and a unique angel hair pasta patty cooked in a skillet) So yummy! Keep up the excellent work Painters and I look forward to the next time. 😊
$$$Overpriced food, our burgers were burn, skirt steak was burn, kids burger are not kids size. I will give them 3 stars for ambient, and 2 stars for food quality, and 1 for overpriced $$$$ 3 kids burgers one mac and cheese one burn skirt steak fry chicken and a adult burger almost $300 do the math !insane !, will not come back
Im only giving two stars because the atmosphere was nice. The food is not worth the price. Small portions and only so-so. On top of that, they have a surcharge if you are using a credit card which basically everyone has to pay (who goes to the ATM and withdraws $200+ dollars before they go out to dinner). We tried to use a debit card to avoid the surcharge and were told that the surcharge would also apply to that even though it clearly states credit card. We asked to speak to a manager and they agreed to remove the surcharge with the debit card (after waiting 20 minutes).Over all a pretty poor experience.Go to J&Rs, better food for cheaper.
Just came here 7:30pm - Sunday night, walked in: PLENTY of socially distanced separated EMPTY tables /seats inside and out and was told they were not accepting walk-ins without reservations but were free to sit at bar. Being that it was late already, that is what we did, along with many other couples ordering dinner at the bar; pretty much at full capacity. The meal was great, the bartender was great (as both bartender and waiter for at least 7 other couples) but tables remained empty......absurd. I was here in the past few weeks with no reservation, was seated at a table no problem and there were many more filled tables at the time
Amazing!!! Absolutely delicious. I had a spinach salad that was to die for, I cant remember the name but it had curried cashews, bruss sprouts. My sister had a chicken dish , And my stepmom had something else. And although we were unable to have desert.. actually has desert drink they called rainbow cookie omg. This place is outstanding 5 stars in the waitress was exceptionally courteous her name was Michelle.. She went above and beyond to help me take your out what you eat because of diet restrictions. Simply outstanding! we will be back everything was absolutely delicious Even the hostess was very sweet and kind
We held my daughters bridal shower September 2019 and they did an amazing job the service was outstanding. Tonight we had a Covid style belated graduation dinner for my son and once again above and beyond. The food was delicious and plentiful. Beverages and service there are not enough words!
Good food for a decent price. Love coming here. The scenery is amazing and the live music is pretty decent. Service is really good and has good timing even when busy. This is one of my favorite place to go to on Long Island, the only thing keeping this review from being a 5 star is the lack of variety in the menu. But for such a short menu selection they are outstanding!
Great bartenders ...... Great bouncers always pleasant and nice to talk to. I personally have never had a problem when I was there nor have I ever seen a problem while I was there. I truly believe that is due to the friendly staff. They have a way of making all feel welcome. I go there whenever I have free time which is not very often. I wish I could go there more thats how much I love the atmosphere in there.
My boyfriend and I used to love this restaurant. We live a little far from it but we would go often. Since the pandemic started, we haven’t been able to. Today is our anniversary so we ordered food from there since it’s probably where we would have gone. Also, the food is great and we missed it. The service was fine getting the food but once we got home the orders were wrong. My boyfriend’s burger was cooked medium and we asked for it to be well done. Also the burger tasted and smelt really bad. He likes it well done and I normally eat it medium but I couldn’t even bite it because of the smell. The goat cheese in my salad I think was spoiled. I live 25 minutes away so there’s no way the food got bad in the car. They put beans and jalapeños in my nachos which I asked them not to do so I couldn’t even eat them. The guacamole on the side was almost brown and smelt weird. I understand that there’s probably a short staff to cut costs and it’s also not necessary during the pandemic so when I called them and politely said what happened, the employee on the phone just said “oh sorry” then nothing else. So I tried to explain how I was disappointed and again “oh sorry” nothing else. He did not offer to re make the order or anything. Rude. Rude. Rude.
Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso these are just a few names that come to mind when describing their Renaissance esc drinks and food that will leave you with impressionist taste and an inspiration on your palate. You will leave feeling like and absolute artist.
Great place for Friday happy hour. Great selection of tap beer and bottled beer. Good food. Turned into a night club with DJ around 10pm, but was not overwhelming for those of us still hanging at the bar talking with friends. Liked the overall atmosphere. Friendly bartenders who always had a smile.
So this was my first time going here. It was fantastic. I loved the table cloth. You can actually draw on it which makes it a different experience. The food was fantastic and the portions were very fair. Price is higher than normal but the food and atmosphere is nice.
We had a catered party here. The catered food was decent, but the regular restaraunt food looks amazing. There is a good beer, wine and liquor selection. The room we rented was beautiful and rustic. The staff and service was great. I would definitely do another event there.
Food is great! Definitely a place better enjoyed as a restaurant. It has a bar, but their food is the focal point. Sitting down with a date, friends, or family to grab some good grub. Not an extremely child friendly atmosphere, but they may just enjoy it. With thick brown paper table mats that are changed after every tables meal, paired with a coffee can of crayons, drawing on the table can be fun for adults and children to release a little artsy creativity while waiting on the food!
Excellent place for live music and dancing.Service from the waitresses were terrible. You would have to flag someone down if you wanted a drink which I didnt like.Took 2 in half hours for mussels and backed clams and 3 hours for dinner to come. That was ridiculous to me.Food was good and they give you generous portions of food. But be prepared to spend 30 to 55 per plate at least.
Love everything about this place. Great, quality artisan food at reasonable price. The free bread and whipped butter is awesome! The Frida burger is my favorite! I love everything from here-- even the mashed potatoes!! The decoration is nice and live music. My favorite restaurant!
My family and I love this place! Great food and beer selection. Portions are generous. Their specials are always worth a try. They seem to change them up pretty regularly. I recommend this place to most people looking for a casual, fun place that has delicious food. Their pulled pork nachos are insane! You should definitely try those.
Right from the door opening the wonderful hostess opened and held the door for my elderly father in law. She was smiling and welcomed us. Asked if we would prefer a table or booth and pointed out where the handicapped bathroom is. Great hostess!!We sat and were greeted by our waiter and felt like we were his VIP table. The busboy came over with bread and took an interest in the table and passed by to check if all was well. Great busboy. Chef food was great I am stuffed and would return happily.
We were excited to try this restaurant tonight. We should have sensed from the filth in the lobby that it would not meet our expectations. The water glasses were covered in film. The floor was greasy and dirty. Bread came. Delicious. Asked waitress what kind of bread it was. She didn’t know. Ordered the lobster roll recommended by our waitress. Brioche bun was stale and lobster meat was tough and chewy. Told our waitress who said “aww that’s too bad “ and walked away. Fries were soggy and tasteless. While eating we got a look at the molding in the floor by the coffee bar area and were shocked at the dirt and grime right there in full view of all the guests. Gave them a $50 American Express gift card and a credit card to pay the difference. Our waitress came back and said she put it all in on my credit card because their machine gets screwy with gift cards. Never even asked !! So our dinner that should have been $40 ended up costing us $90. Terrible experience. Sub par food. Filthy dirty restaurant. If I could have given less than one star I would have.Oh, and the bathroom. Don’t even ask. Disgusting. I Find it amazing that the owner of this restaurant doesn’t know how filthy the place is. And it was so so crowded. Go figure. Not worth the trip. At. All.
Buffalo chicken grilled cheese was absolutely delicious, and the flirtini, a pineapple style martini, was amazingly good, and did not taste watered down. Dont like how when you exit the parking lot it is difficult to see because of the shrubbery on either side of the exit. It feels very unsafe and I feel like for safety reasons it should be removed or made shorter.
Came here for brunch on Sunday. Good selection and the food was delicious. A little higher priced then the diner but worth it. I have heard if this place before but always thought it was a bar because of my friends that go late evening. It does have a bar yes but a decent amount of seating and party room. Give this place a shot.
Painters is always a fun time. Its a very large restaurant with a section for clubbing at night. Just a heads up, friday nights are worst for later dinners since the music is so loud you cant hear the person next to you. The clubbing scene was fun though. Food is very good. I recommend the personal pizza and the wings app is enough for a 1 person entree. The sweet bread that they give to the table is really good
We used to love this place but have been disappointed over and over again this past year. If you plan to go here with anymore than 2 people, plan to wait a long time for your food. Most recent was arriving at 5:30, seated at 5:45 with reservations, and food came out at 7:30. We’ve also had dirty utensils, dirty glasses, rude hostesses who at night barely have any clothes on, and have had stomach aches almost every time we go here for dinner. Hope they get it together because this used to be our favorite place and we’d tell everyone to go here! Writing this in hopes that they start making a few changes!
Food was very good but I took a star away because the hostess ignored us for 15 minutes when we had a reservation. I stood in front of her but she never even greeted me and my family or asked us how many? I finally said excuse me we have a reservation and she said we had to wait, thats fine but someone needs to talk to the customer. I enjoyed my dinner once we were finally seated but I do not like to get aggravated before I even sit.
As a former longtime Brookhaven Hamlet resident I used to frequent Painters... Went last night with 14 people for dinner... Wont be going back. Our waitress was very rude and was never checking on us. She kept telling us everything is taking a long time and then would disappear. The food was really not impressive either.I dont know who the manager is anymore but something needs to be changed! My suggestion... Dont bother with this place till they turn it around.
Pricing has gone way up and quality down. The dragon bowl with chicken is $30? Passed on that. Hard to see all these restaurants surviving with the prices theyre charging. I wont be back anytime soon after todays experience, unfortunately. Service however was friendly, albeit disorganized. Food to the wrong table 3x in the 90 mins I was there.
I sent my friends to this place with my highest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The meals are appetizing and the crew is welcoming and cooperative. Whenever we eat in this place we enjoy a gorgeous time. I warmly recommend this restaurant.
Our experience at Painters was delightful. Promptly seated at out reservation time, we soon had good, well-made drinks in our hands. The meal was wonderful and the desserts were amazing. The Rainbow Cookie coffee was especially well received. Do yourself a favor and try the Banana Cheescake Chimichangas, youre welcome in advance. An especially bright spot of our evening was our server Rich, he was attentive, personable and all around excellent. Only negative was the bread, a little tough to cut and chewy. Otherwise an outstanding experience. I highly recommend.
Went there once during the for lunch had a burger an it was great atmosphere was great waiter took 5 peoples orders an did not write down anything an everything came out right. Also went on a Saturday night an it was a $10 cover charge (not bad at all) an great club/party atmosphere
Its always a delicious meal there the fried mozz for an appetizer is the the best n have had almost every entree n all r so good so good n the tap beers r always ice cold I love it been going there for 20 years they shut down for a fire for awhile but r back like they never missed a beat
The food and drinks are downright awful!! It used to be very good years ago but the last 3 times I went it was terrible. Kept giving it a try thinking it was an off night or just that particular dish. But each instance it was a train wreck of food dumped on the plate. Go somewhere else to eat and here for the music and dancing afterwards. Decor is fun and music is the best part about Painters these days.
As pretty regular customers before the fire closed the restaurant, we were hoping there would be some changes once they opened again. But, I hate to say that after eating there tonight, nothing much has changed. You see, before the fire, the service left much to be desired. For example, they would bring your nachos but no plates to eat them off nor any of the sides that accompanied them. It was so frustrating!! Tonight was no better. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, salad and dinner. The waitress didnt write anything down and it was obvious that she should have. Our drinks came-great start! Then my husbands salad and appetizer came (at the same time) and my appetizer (fresh mozzarella and tomato) never arrived. We finally got our servers attention and she said she would check on it (she forgot to order it). A bit later she arrived with my appetizer. My husband, always the gentleman, was hesitant to start eating without me. I hate that feeling! Oh, and then they brought the bread for our table! Great timing! Finally, our dinners came out! I ordered a burger, medium well. Yup-you guessed it-rare (raw) in the middle. So, again, my husband had his food and I waited as my burger was sent back to the kitchen. It wouldnt have been so bad, except my burger had been in the window for a long time (plenty of time to cook it correctly the first time!) The waitress felt bad and offered to refill my husbands beer-he said yes-and no beer ever came! Really?!?! When my burger was finally cooked a second time, it was delicious, as was the rest of the food. Which is the problem we always had with Painters their food is good but their prices dont match the off service. I can t imagine ordering one of their expensive steaks! Disappointed again! Ugh!!
Many locals avoid the place, very loud atmosphere, almost a huge echo of noise, hard to relax. Most fare is OK, but at their prices, it should be more than OK. The art that is exhibited is abysmal, amateur left overs at best. Finding one good art piece seems to be the way to pass the time, while your ears buzz and you wait for your food. Having a conversation with anyone requires yelling. The previous incarnation, pre-fire didnt have the new issues. While fixing the place, they lost a whole lot of things that made this restaurant appealing.
We had the worst service ever ... the manager was rude and had us waiting until he was good and ready to come talk to us. Our food sat in the window while everyone who arrived after us were eating their meals. The food came to us cold and wrong. The manager was aggravated that we took him out of his office. Most restaurant managers visit their guests and ask if they are extremely satisfied. This guy could care less. He is in the wrong business. They also told us if we do not pay the bill they would call the police on us.. Dont eat here.
The food was delicious. Had a reservation for 7 that’s I made in advance. Was not told I would have issues at the door bc the door security do not know manners. They first wanted $10 and after telling them we had reservations they insisted on walking us to the hostess desk and making sure he told me 3 times that our friends that were meeting us had to tell him who they were with otherwise they would be charged a door fee. Our 7th guest came and was required to pay the $10 fee because according to the doorman it was ‘dinner was almost over and she was sure she wasn’t eating’. Absolutely insane considering we had a table bill for dinner that was over $350!! It’s pretty unfortunate that we travelled about 40 minutes because we heard the food was great, which is it was, but the way we were treated was just disgusting and I won’t be coming back. A TIP FOR THE BUSINESS: if you are going to have a band and charge a cover, have separate entrances for the bar and the restaurant. For anyone considering going: make sure your reservation is earlier than 930 because if your guest show up a bit later due to them working you will be charged a cover fee. Highly disappointed.
This is one of our favorite places on the south shore. There are limited great dining options in the bellport/brookhaven area, usually you have to go a little further west to Patchogue for that! This is a great option with a big menu, ginormous portions, great craft beers and craft cocktails. The feel of the restaurant is also very eclectic with new art on the walls every time I come in. Live music on the weekends and a fantastic happy hour.
We had 6:30 reservations and were seated at 6:32. It was a great start to the night. Unfortunately thats all that was positive about our experience. If you have never visited Painters before, and youre on the fence, I suggest you avoid it completely. You can write on the tableclothes with crayon, and after 8 minutes of being ignored by every employee that walked by, I began to tally every minute we were ignored on the tablecloth. I got all the way up to 27 minutes before we even got offered drinks. The drinks are okay, fourteen dollars for a cocktail, so expect that. The food is okay. There wasnt a single thing we had that we wanted again. Its an extremely loud environment, especially at busy times. Moreso than a full standard restaurant due to its size and ceiling height. It would be like having 138 people in your living room, 46 of them being kids, all yelling in order to hear each other speak. Its neat, thats the reason why the 1 star is warranted, its a neat, different restaurant. However, thats quite literally the only thing I can say about it. I do not recommend anyone visits this establishment.
Ive been going to Painters for 10 years, maybe close to 15, and it is still very good. The meals are always solid, they arrive hot and quickly. For a upscale eatery they really know how to keep the place laid back and also very posh. The prices are a bit high but the quality is there.
Attended a baby shower brunch inside a private room at Painters, 8/2018. Decor was rustic chic, sangria was served in mason jars with paper straws and the breakfast food was great (crepes, eggs, etc). Staff was friendly and attentive. Would recommend for a private event.
A great spot for families or a fun night out with friends! The food 🥘 🍗🍤🥑is delicious and I’d recommend getting a bunch of apps to share bec the options are diverse and tasty. The Painters Punch 🍹is a refreshing cocktail to start your meal with and the Brownie Bomber 🍫🍦🍨is the best dessert around. I prefer to sit outside because it gets a little loud inside but the wait staff is so friendly 👋🏻and accommodating any table is a good one! Good food, good drinks and a nice staff! What else do you need? 👍🏻
My sister threw me my baby shower here, and I will say the shower was very nice. Although, most of it was because of all the work my sister did. If it weren’t for Zach, Painter’s events contact, I would give the place a 4 or a 5. Unfortunately, Zach is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with in the catering business. Unfortunately not all guests my sister anticipated on attending could attend. She was going to be short on the 30 guest minimum Painter’s has for their events. My sister had asked if it was possible for us to take the leftover food home after the event since she was paying for guests that weren’t able to attend, she was told that she could not. Without her knowing I wanted to double-check with Painter’s, as I feel terrible her money is going to waste. I tried calling Zach 3x and he never answered. I ended up emailing him asking what the minimum guest count for a brunch event was and if the headcount is not met if any food can be brought home. A day later Zach eventually answered that catered food is not allowed to be brought home. I replied asking him what the reason why was; I wasn’t going to ask for an exception if there was a solid reason behind his response. We went back and forth several times, as it was like pulling teeth to get a straight answer out of Zach. He had ended up saying because it’s their policy they developed over many years of experience. Still not answering my question, clearly it’s their policy but I’m wondering why it was their policy. I then responded how my sister was throwing my baby shower there the following day and how I feel terrible that her money is going to waste and if there is any way they could make an exception to their policy. I was expecting either a yes or a no reply. Instead, Zach comes back saying something to the effect of “let me get this straight….you made up a fake event to see if there was a conspiracy against your sister taking home food?” … Excuse me?? First of all, I did not make up a fake event, I asked specific, clear questions on their policies – and by no means was I checking for any conspiracies. What event manager talks to the guest of honor of a baby showering that will be at their restaurant will be hosting the following day. Zach then replied something that he will “deal” with my sister… He then calls my sister and tells her that someone is anonymously emailing him. Who is being anonymous?? I didn’t sign my name but I told him exactly who I was. Clearly, I was trying to be discreet and not let my sister know I was contacting Painters, was Zach trying to stir up trouble between my sister and me???? He then replied that if I have any other issues that I can take them up with my sister. There are so many other ways he could’ve handled my question – he is clearly in the wrong business. As long as he is still the event contact, I would recommend elsewhere for a catered event.
Used to be a great place. Their decision to refuse to modify menu items in anyway has really made this somewhere Im not interested in going anymore. Removing an ingredient from an omelette shouldnt be an issue. Being in earshot of the kitchen staff yelling at a waitress for asking for an ingredient being withheld is both unprofessional and off-putting.
This is a really cool restaurant and I was surprised to find it tucked away in Brookhaven. The place is absolutely huge and is decorated in a sort of hipster artsy rustic way.We made a reservation on OpenTable which all went smoothly and I was impressed with the menu. The large plates are the entrees which were all relatively expensive at $22+ or so but they have plenty of other options that are priced nicely.Their genius burgers all looked great and theyre $15, and they have a lot of good looking sandwiches and appetizers around $11-15 bucks. We got the parmesan truffle fries, the pulled pork sandwich, and the guacamole/salsa burger. The truffle fries were good but didnt have enough truffle for my tastes. The pulled pork was really good but the jalapenos in the description were nowhere to be found. My friend ordered this as well and he also didnt taste them.My wife enjoyed the burger but said there were some rough parts inside it, almost line gristle. The flavors and guacamole were really good though. The drinks were good and we enjoyed a variety of beers and even some pineapple cider! The prices were pretty solid although idk what they were thinking with $6 tallboy of PBR when Brooklyn Lager and other tallboys were $7.Overall very impressive restaurant and music venue and worth the visit. Also seems like a very cool place to throw a party (we saw one while we were there)!
If i could give this place a negative i would! Do not go here the service is terrible. We called for reservations and they gave the room we had reserved the back room for a birthday party and they gave the room away. When we got there they had no seating arrangements made would not make any accommodations knowing the amount of people that we had. The waitresses showed face once the whole time and we would have to track them down, meanwhile we were the only people in the restaurant. They wouldn’t accommodate at alll! Horrendous!!!!!! Attitudes left and right ! I will never go here or recommend anyone go here !
Ordered Painters Punch with all apps. Crabcakes are excellent. Calimari was cooked perfectly. Tomato BLT sliders were very very good. Asian steak skewers are extremely tender combined with the peanut sauce..yummy... Great atmosphere and table service. Finally found my new spot... Highly recommend for anyone.
Food was pretty good. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and added the lobster to it. Ravioli sat in this lightly maple flavored oil which was a good taste to it but just a bit much added to the plate. As for the lobster, wasnt bad but a little too chewy. As for my white sangria that was pretty amazing. Great flavor. My Bf had the mommas bbq ribs. He loved it. Was huge, great bbq taste, freshly baked corn bread. We also ordered the lobster stuffed baked clams and they were very tasty. As for their home made bread bowl filled with this slightly sweet /garlic whipped butter, was ptetty delicious as well. A little chewy but appetizing. I would recommend this place. Staff was pleasant and nice.
Ive dined at Painters quite a few times, and I have no complaints about anything but the seared tuna. I ordered it once and had to send it back because it was cooked all the way through. Lastnight, I ordered it on my salad, as did my partner, and one was cooked through and the other half through. We advised the waiter, but opted to eat it anyway. My point... whomever is in your kitchen needs to learn how to cook tuna, especially if you offer it raw/seared. We paid $26.00 for what I called canned tuna on my salad. It was disgusting. If your staff is going to ask how I want it cooked, and its offered as raw, it should come to the table as such. Your staff fails as a team if the runner does not check the ticket and your cook doesnt cook to order.
Awesome atmosphere very eclectic relaxed place a lil noisy but just perfect the food was phenomenal like Amazing I had the chili fries which was huge and delicious and then the filet mignon which was melt in ur mouth delicious like so good! Then the NY style cheese cake which IMO looked homemade not from a box ! We also had an awesome server her name was Kristen and she rocks
This restaurant offers delicious food paired with a unique art-themed environment, which is family friendly. I would personally recommend the chicken wings, bacon cheese burgers, and quesadillas, but there is something for everyone to eat and enjoy. There are also crayons and paper on the tables, which make a fun time drawing for any age. Take care and God bless!
Food is delicious, ordered two apps for dinner...steak teriyaki (which had this awesome sauce, mouth watering) and lobster stuffed clams (tasty, a little bready). My BF had surf and turf, with the most amazing potatoes! Very atmosphere, crayons....very cool. A little loud, but thats to be expected because of the live band
Never ate there before untill now, great food, we went on a sat it was packed and could barely hear eachother..., because background music really loud and ever one had to talk even louder... but if you want to eat there especially on a Saturday make sure you get a reservation thats what we did
Casual atmosphere but 5 star dining! No need to wear your Sunday best to this art-inspired bar and restaurant, but your mouth and your wallet will thank you for walking in! Features 2 separate dining areas, one cozy and intimate and the other wide open for a meeting, party, or social gathering and an enormous horseshoe bar centered between the smaller dining area and the stage where you can see live bands perform every Friday and Saturday. Artwork adorns every wall and seating area and they have an eclectic rotation of beer taps that keep your experiences there fresh and fun each time you visit. Great friendly staff and serious food options ranging from burger and fries to lobster and shrimp empanadas with a corn-chipotle remoulade. Generous and expertly arranged portions combined with affordable pricing make it good for the whole family or a first date. Highly recommend this unique location.
Rum punch is fabo. Food is always amazing. The atmosphere is where its at though. Artwork every where and paper on the tabletop so you can color too. Theres always a good band or dj. Dont come here if you dont like to eat, drink, dance, or look at things. One of my favorite hidden gems in Suffolk.
TERRIBLE!!!! They wanted me to pay a cover charge of 10 bucks a person, then go inside and pay to eat and buy drinks. Yeah okay. Also, no where on the website says you have to be 21 or older, so maybe you should add that. I would stay away from this place. Id rather go to the resturant down the road. This whole situation pissed me and my girlfriend off that we didnt want to be bothered with it. Mind you we both are over 21.. bouncer should have more people skills instead of talked to grown men and women like dirt. If i had the option to give you no starts I would.
We were seated at a table which was actually more of a section of fencing turned sideways. it was extremely wobbly. we asked to be seated elsewhere (there were plenty of open tables for two in sight). waitstaff refused to relocate us, so we had to leave. we had a reservation as well, kind of crazy.
Ordered lunch take out. When I went to pick it up they made me go up to the bar to get my food. Bartender made two drinks while I’m standing there just waiting to pay. After waiting he doesn’t even give me my correct change he took the 45 cents and rounded. What service did you to take my change. How dare you

2022-03-05This is my favorite place to bring my mom for lunch on Saturdays. The portions are generous and everything is delicious. The artwork that is displayed is so eclectic and fun there is never a reason to watch the TV!During the most recent visit I enjoyed a winter flight of selected beers that knocked my socks off! They really know what they are doing.

2022-03-30So ive been coming to painters for years and I would have given it 5 stars but the bartender is not attentive or friendly . It’s normally the same guy and i like sitting at the bar to eat but for the 3 rd time moved to a table .That being said the wait staff is always on point . The food is very good . I don’t think I’ve a bad meal here in the years I’ve been coming ..I would highly recommend eating here just don’t sit at the bar.

2022-05-04Painters is trendy and very laid-back. I loved it there. I came for Sunday brunch, and there was a very family vibe. The food is very good and the wait staff were all very pleasant. The only (tiny) drawback is that they didnt have my reservation, even after I called it in. Fortunately, it was not crowded, so they had a table available for our group of 6. Otherwise, it was a very positive experience.

2022-03-26Excellent spot for Sunday brunch, not too crowded and the service is quite friendly. food is good with lots of choices, everyone in our large group was pleased. not too loud - always an issue with group outings - even with the background music. interesting artwork abounds.went back again, 2 years later, and it still is a great place for a group meet up.

2021-04-21Super impressed by our first visit here. The art, ambiance, and elevated menu were a great combination for a nice evening. Gnocchi mac and cheese was something very special and the burger list was very original. Already looking forward to our next visit!

2020-08-29Great food and love the variety and diversity of the menu, not just 1 specific kind of food. The portions are family style as well so always plenty of food! Music playing in the background loud enough to hear but you can still enjoy the conversation. 100% recommend for a casual lunch, family dinner or to grab a late night bite.

2022-02-01I hate to even leave such a horrible rating because this is my go-to place for a great night out, however, my last outing proved that Painters is absolutely deserving of such a terrible rating & for sure they will lose many loyal patrons for the way they treated many of us last weekend. After I was $200+ deep in drinks for my friends, family, and I, being served by the chauvinistic bartender Nick, the band had just finished playing and my friend went to order a last round and his response so youre not going to leave followed by an aggressive group of disdainful megalomaniacs forcing our group to leave. This is the earliest I have ever left this place on a Saturday night. The best part is that while waiting outside for my ride and being mocked and locked out by a poor excuse for security guards they stayed behind and even let 2 stragglers back in to hang out with them. Apparently the owner was there and allowed this abhorrent behavior so needless to say my friends and I will not be there any time soon. Definitely not a way you should be treated after being a loyal, well paying customer so new comers beware!

2022-06-16We had a terrible experience at Painters on Sunday, June 12th. We had a private party for our kids 1st communion for about 40 people. In short - my catering order was wrong, the food overcooked, and to top it all off, the red velvet cake that I ordered through their pastry chef was RANCID - well the icing was anyway.I should have been suspicious when I didn’t have to sign a contract.. I’ve planned many private events and have always signed a contract, but had friends who had events at Painters and had good experiences, so I took their word for it. Zach - the catering manager is nice on the phone, but not prompt in calling you back. I wish this was my only complaint. The first problem is Zach told me I could drop off additional decorations (just some balloons and a banner - nothing complicated) and well as some other desserts that I could have put out day of that Saturday night (As late as possible) for my event on Sunday at noon. He said the staff would take care of the decorations that morning because we were at the church. When we arrived a little before 12, nothing had been done. Like I said, there wasn’t much so we did it ourselves. Zach still hasn’t come down to introduce himself. This is unusual since he has been my point of contact for weeks , and at any other event I’ve planned the catering manager usually avails themselves to the private party - at least as an intro.I won’t bore you with the details of the food being wrong - it was wrong, but I wan’t going to get into a pissing match with Zach since it was my word against his - again - didn’t sign a contract so there is no proof. When dessert came out - the red velvet cake looked beautiful. The problem with the cake was that it tasted like the chef mixed up cream cheese with feta or gorgonzola cheese? It had a distinct sour foot flavor. No one could eat it and Rich our server tried it and gagged. He took it back without delay and stopped people from tasting it. I have no idea what happened but if I didn’t know better I would think someone purposely sabotaged the pastry check. It was really bad. Also, Zach never communicated to Rich about the other desserts so that stuff came out late after I asked about them.So they took the cake off the bill ($100). Personally I think they should have knocked more off but at that point I was out of energy to fight. It’s Thursday now, and no one from Painter’s has tried to reach out to apologize about the cake - which I find terrible. We spent $3000 dollars for a 3 hour party. A call would have been nice.Bottom line - don’t book a party here. If you already have - insist on getting every detail in writing and don’t be afraid to micromanage because because apparently Zach won’t relay anything to his staff unless specifically requested. As an aside, Painters Restaurant and bar basically has good reviews. Do notice though that any bad review they have usually involves a guy named Zach.

2022-06-27The service was good, but the waiter was a little abrasive, at least with me, to the point where I felt avoided for most of the time our party was there after I ordered my meal.
