My pup loves it here! Always drags me in when we walk past. The staff is so friendly and genuinely cares for each dog as well. Highly recommend!
My husband and I love this place so much. It might not be the fanciest doggy daycare on the upper west, but Gail and all the people who work at Playground Pups are the best. They care for the dogs like they are their own and our dog who has pretty bad separation anxiety loves it there, and all the workers, which says a ton! Cant say enough good things about them.
Astro has been coming here for boarding and daycare since he was a baby and absolutely loves it - he knocks on the door himself when hes nearby hyper to get in and always wiggles his butt when hes nearby. Definitely recommend!
Absolutely superb daily dog care, grooming and kenneling. They love and care for the dogs with great heart. My dog runs to greet the folks who work here when he sees them on the street. Highest recommendation
We are so grateful to PP for the love and attention they show to our dog. They make you feel like your animal gets special treatment and they take the time to get to know you as well as your pup. There is a family feel here, we wouldnt take our dog anywhere else!
My Yorkie pulls me to Playground Pups when we pass by on a regular walk, as if there was a party going on inside. She loves the people and the dog pack. she comes home and goes right to bed for the night. Her groomings are so wonderful and I board her there as well. I have never had a problem there. A little expensive but what isnt
I was in a difficult situation during Hurricane Sandy. I work in a 24/7 business and was expected to be at work no matter the circumstance. I left my dog, Butters, at a kennel in lower Manhattan before leaving for work Monday morning (not knowing when I would be able to get home to her). It turned out, the kennel she was at lost power during the storm. I was very upset, and began searching for another kennel. When I called Playground Pups, Gail came to my rescue. Her voice on the phone was calm and reassuring. She made space for my dog. On Wednesday morning I got Butters from her lower Manhattan kennel and took her to Playground Pups where I met Gail in person. She was kind and caring and took the time to get to know my dog and make her feel comfortable.The next day, I called and spoke to another member of the team, Linda, and was told how Butters was doing. I truly appreciated the care and kindness everyone exhibited and wouldnt hesitate to leave Butters at Playground Pups again.
Weve tried a number of boarding/daycare facilites but this is best! Great staff, know your dog. No cages but multiple open spaces for the right mix of dogs. We have a dog that gets anxious with storms and they have worked magic. Id recommend them to anyone and everyone.
I dropped my Black Lab off there for 4 days while I was out of town. In order to be accepted, they made me pay $30 to drop the dog off for a few hours to see how it behaved. That is ridiculous, but fine... They promised to walk the dog twice a day, and to feed it the special food that I gave to them.When I picked the dog up in acted like it hadnt been out in days, and went to the bathroom several times on the sidewalk, as if it hadnt been walked in at least 12 hours. Mind you, I picked it up in the afternoon, so I dont think that she had been out yet that day. This is very abnormal for my dog to go to the bathroom so much, so we knew there was something wrong.They failed to feed her the special food that I dropped off for her, and fed it to another dog instead. Also, she developed a rash all over her body and now for the past few weeks has been itching herself nonstop, to the point where she bleeds. She wasnt like that when we dropped her off. My poor dog is going to the vet now, which will only cost more, in order to get a cortizone shot to relieve the rash.Considering how expensive it was, which was a few hundred dollars for 4 days, and how much competition there is in the neighborhood, I would never go there again.
The best place in the UWS to leave your dog while you’re working or you’re away from home. *** It’s mainly like a mom-and-pop store where your best friend receives truly care and attention that he deserves. *** At the beginning, my dog was a little intimated to get in, but now he cannot stop pulling me when we start walking there. Don’t leave your dog bored at home! Expose him to different friends and environments!
They always take great care of the dogs, but when mine stayed in daycare with the Cone of Shame they took especially good care of her. She hardly wanted to leave at the end of the day!
Great for grooming. Elaine does an amazing cut on our doodle every time! Staff is always friendly.
The staff is always friendly, and my dogs always come home tired and happy. Both dogs get excited as soon as they see were headed here. Staff says hi to the dogs on the street when theyre off the clock.
Went there for a wash and dry. They charged $10 less than a FULL grooming elsewhere in the neighborhood, and my dog was not completely blown out. The place also smells like dog urine.
This is the most vile place! they treat the dogs terribly and the groomers do whatever they want. They shaved my dog without permission!! they are cruel to the animals. I would never bring my dog back!!!
The staff makes this place amazing. They care so much about the dogs and treat them as if they were their own.
My corgi loves this place so much. She was socialized here during their free Saturday puppy playgroups, and now she gets excited whenever she goes for daycare.
I bring my dog there to groom. They have a super nice groomers. I never used other services.

2022-04-10I can’t say enough good things about this place. My dog (Oscar) and I just moved here from Minnesota in January. I visited several potential boarding places in Manhattan and researched many more online before taking the anxiety-ridden plunge of leaving Oscar at Playground Pups for eight nights over this past week. It was the longest I’ve ever left him anywhere (which most certainly bothered me more than him … haha), and it was a new place in a new city, etc. Yikes! So here’s the thing — About two days into his stay, Oscar had an unexpected medical issue come up. But instead of that shooting my anxiety through the roof, I was immediately put at ease by how wonderfully they handled the issue and handled him. Normally one doesn’t have (because they shouldn’t need) contact multiple times a day with the place they are boarding their pets. In this case, I got phone calls, emails, and photos constantly that reassured me that he was not only safe and doing just fine, but that also showed just how professional the entire staff is and how much they care about the animals in their care. While it’s never fun for your dog to have a medical issue when you aren’t around, in a way I’m almost glad it happened, because it answered the unspoken fear we all have about whether or not everything is going to be okay if something goes wrong for your pet while you are away. In the case of Playground Pets, the answer is that your dog is absolutely in good hands. Plus, it seemed obvious from the photos they sent that Oscar had a good time while he was there. I have already booked his next stay when I’m gone for a week again in June. These people are great.

2021-09-29If you have a new pup and live in NYC, I cannot recommend Playground Pups enough! Their Saturday play groups helped my dog immensely -- she came in as an unsure, shy puppy and after a few meetings, became the most playful, confident, and happy dog when she meets other pups. She was nervous at first but Lea, who oversaw the playgroup, was incredibly observant and patient with my dog and all the other dogs too. You get the sense that she and the others here just enjoy all types of dogs and working with their respective strengths and weaknesses. As an example, on my pup Josies first time here, Lea made sure to give my dog one-on-one time after the group play with another dog at her level/size to ease her into things. I also saw other very shy dogs get much more comfortable and social after Lea worked with them. So, lots of personalized attention-- and, at least at the time, it was FREE! And the group varied by size so it was perfect for my large dog. I also loved their grooming -- my dog HATES baths yet she always comes back looking great and the groomers, despite knowing how difficult my dog can be, never gave me attitude about it and always are super positive. And the price was not any more money than equivalent groomers-- I thought it was very fair. If I hadnt moved out of the area, Id be coming back here all the time -- the people here literally made my dog wonderful!

2017-09-08So grateful for this place. We had to run from Florida to get away from hurricane Irma. I have a 10yr old min pin who ous also blind. Taking him to or hotel was not an option so we found this place. They were very accommodating to us, weve been gong back to check on him and take him for his walks. He seems very happy there. Great place, very reasonable.

2018-06-14We started taking our 9 week old pup here for the Weekend puppy socialization meetings and it truly helped!!! The place could be cleaner because pups just pee everywhere and they use a sloppy mop that stinks but ..... the group play-dates makeup for it. A lot of puppy owners show up so it is great chance for the news pups to play and have fun!

2021-09-12My dog has been here 3 times for grooming. I kept coming back thinking it might take a couple of times for them to get the grooming like I want it to but it didn’t. They don’t follow owners instructions, they seem unorganized and it is also one of the most expensive grooming services in the area. I just don’t think it’s worth what you pay for. Not coming back anymore.

2021-05-04Playground Pups is amazing! Lea, who leads all the puppy groups, is an incredibly knowledgeable trainer who deeply understands dogs and knows how to coach dogs and humans to bring out the best in everyone.We highly recommend the Saturday puppy playgroups (which Lea carefully groups to make sure dogs of similar size/age are together) - it is a great way to start socializing your puppy with other dogs and learning about how dogs play together.She also does a great puppy kindergarten and we have even worked with her 1-on-1 with our family in our apartment to help work on some specific behavior challenges we were having with our dog. She had great advice and trained all of us on how to handle not only the behavior quirk we were seeing, but also finishing up potty training, handling separation anxiety and how to get out ahead of puppy boredom.If you have a new puppy you MUST take them to Playground Pups - you AND your dog will be better for it!

2020-07-19I took my puppy to Playground Pups for the free playgroup and we had an awesome experience. He wasn’t vibing with the dogs in his group so the trainer told us to leave and come back for the next group. The next group was perfect for him and he had such a fun time! Got out a ton of energy and got to socialize with the other dogs. They took our temperatures and were very careful with social distancing. All of the staff members were very kind and friendly and the facility was clean and organized. We are going back next week!

2019-07-29Great service I absolutely fell in love with this place. I took my dog for a grooming and he looks amazing. They did a spectacular job. The guy at the front desk was very friendly and very helpful. As soon as youwalk-in you feel welcomed and I knew my dog was in good hands.
