Good times. The boat trip is scenic. The captain is cool (though we will let him slide on his taste in music). First Mate was cool and knowledgeable. The island has beautiful views and quite a history. Highly recommended.

The island is small but full of history! The tour guides tell a great story about the islands history.Tip: Dont bring any food or drink here since youre not allowed to walk and eat/drink while on the island.

One of the most interesting ruins on this part of the Hudson. While it never was a historic site, it was a great looking castle built by an industrious man with a vision. It is too bad it was allowed to deteriorate, as it would have made a terrific tourist site had it been able to be developed. I always admire it while cruising by and wish we could visit when it was a stable building.

My wife, my daughter and I took the boat ride and tour out of the Beacon waterfront. The island is beautiful and the history fascinating, and great photo ops. Staff at the dock, on the boat and on the island were all great - very friendly and knowledgeable. Ken (our island guide) shared personal photos and stories they had about the site.

Ive read so much about this place and hope to take a tour some day. I wish this place, among other castles and old iconic sites could be rebuilt to their former glory instead of falling due to time and negligence, or in this case, simply taken care of.

Ive never been there but have seen alot of history shows about this island and castle. Too bad it got destroyed in an explosion. It looked like a cool place.bet it still be here today if it didnt blow up?.. I think it be cool to have Hollywood to make a Movie about this place and family. What do any of you other guys think?.I wish I had good old photos or even new photos ..

Back in 1960 -61 or so I am sorry I have to confess to trespassing and maybe taking a small artifact off the floor. The castle was already in quite bad shape back then. Also the vandals had already gone through the castle. We tied my small outboard boat up on the south side of the island and went exploring. I knew at the time it had been an arsonal and was pretty much in awe with the whole experience.

It would be great if Bannerman Castle got fixed up but each year its falling down a little more. What a shame that the State didnt fix it up 30 years ago before it got to this point. There are lots of good people trying their best to preserve it but progress has been slow. A little history being lost.

I work for the Bannermans tour group and I love the history as well at the crew and experience you can have on the island from plays and tours to watching the art project constellation glow in the night.

Interesting history a short boat ride away from Beacon. We did the sunset cruise on Friday evening and purchased tickets online. Whole experience took a couple hours.
