Great little store for the more advanced gardener.
I like this place. All the people who work there have experience either brewing something or growing something. The selection is pretty large. I only go there for brewing supplies and they usually have what I need. The staff are helpful and they give a 10% discount if you are a member of the local brewing club (the Salt City Brew Club)
They have a lot of stock for home brewing and some very good advice. Reason rated a three could get same starter kit for about $50 less online.
Stopped in today and would have to agree with many of the other postings. The homebrewing selection was nice with decent prices. The single clerk on duty admitted that she knew nothing about homebrewing when I asked a question about their yeast selections. If you know what you are looking for this store is just fine. If you will need assistance dont be disappointed with the lack of service.
Awesome shop...friendly staff and Chris was super helpful. He had everything I needed and plus after walking around the shop I got inspiration for my next indoor garden. Cant wait to create my next hydroponic project! Definitely telling all my friends and family to patron this shop location for sure!!!
This is a great little store for all of your wine and beer making. Also for your natural dirt fertilizer.
Went in for home brewing supplies. Staff didnt acknowledge my existence in the store until I showed up at the counter with $200 worth of supplies. The 2 guys in the store were not knowledgeable at all. Felt like I was waisting their time. While the selection was great, the service was disappointing. They are not the only option in town, Ill be looking elsewhere.
Good selection but definitely not internet pricing. No one understands brewing on hand.But if you know what youre looking for and I understand youre going to pay a bit more than Internet prices its a nice store.
I’m only writing this review because I noticed a few other reviews saying that they had gotten unpleasant service, but every time I deal with Sunset, the staff is more than willing to help me, whether it’s over the phone or in person. I refer all my friends to this store, and would recommend all others to check it out as well.
Chris is a great help! Their website may be different from what is in their store and some items can be a little pricey but overall an asset to our community especially for specialty farmers.
Extremely well set up very nice staff has everything you are looking for to get the job dont and done proper. Staff was very helpful in educating me in the proper items I needed without trying to sell me the most expensive items.
Despite the fact that its an hour drive for me, Ive gone here for my malts and hops for a year now. Went this morning at 11AM but the doors were locked and the lights were off (sign says opens at 10AM on Saturdays). Had some other errands to run so I came back at noon and they were still closed.Wasted gas. Wasted time. They wont be receiving my business any more. And people wonder why small businesses fail so often here...

Stopped in to purchase ingredients for pliney clone. Asked to use the restroom. Staff rude no public bathrooms funny, my daughter used a bathroom there. Ended up buying ingredients on-line. I have spent a TON of money at your store. No more though.not impressed.
Great selection and best prices in the Syracuse area for homebrew supplies. Staff is helpful when available, but usually only one person working at a time so you may have to wait a little bit.
I was disappointed as well. I wanted a very specific type of hops, and called ahead to make sure they had it before I wasted the 50+ minute drive to their store. They said yes. I asked if they were SURE. They said yes. Got there? Guess what... it was only then that they even bothered to look. Wasted nearly two hours. The people were apologetic and knowledgable, and its always fun to look at stuff on shelves. Your mileage may vary, but is this a well run place? Heck no. Very disorganized. Clear theyre making it up as they go along.
Saw on there website a product for about $11, I live about 2 miles away. When I got to store it was about $19. I was told they will match the price on the website plus shipping and handling about $6 or spend over $50 and they would not charge shipping. I would rather drive to another shop.
Went in to buy stuff to make a RIS and Session IPA. The guy at the register knew his stuff and helped us out and we had a good conversation. Great shop for your Homebrew needs!
Meh. Went in for brewing supplies. They were out of several essentials, and the staff seemed less than excited to answer questions or help in any way (we were the only ones in the store). Ill probably look elsewhere.

This shop is often closed during advertised open hours. I am tired of waiting outside when they should already be open. Going thru google questions i noticed people saying they closed early on sone days aswell

2022-05-24This store got me started in my gardening hobby. It has great people who are helpful and will answer questions u til you’re blue in the face. Gardening or brewing they have everything. Prices are ok. Some things are cheaper elsewhere some are more. It’s got more of a personal experience than other commercial shops.

2022-06-21Decent stack of what you would expect in a hydro shop. For brew gear they are ramping into that more with a pretty nice stock and fairly decent hours. They have a few niche items or an isle of such, as hot sauces from around the world I think, some really pricey hot sauces with cool bottles that command top $ but likely dont move much in this economy. They downsized the HID lighting selection with the transition to LEDs but for flowers Id say LEDs still lack the penetration so for now many of the best deals are on line. The sales associates are OK depending on much, but are best for noobs WRT hydro and growing, and OK with brewing. Bottom line is the good location and hopefully the same or better increased hours may keep them alive. Cut out the convenience and hours and they will be gone in a few years.

2022-02-18Ive been a customer here for a few years now. Their prices have always been very high. They would tell me its because youre getting fresher and nondamaged product and can inspect before you buy...or, you get fake product online. Well after my last visit I paid 140 for an item i can get online for 60, ill take my chances. Dirt and grow medium are the only reasonably priced items there and even them can be found at least 20% cheaper locally. Not owned/managed very well at all. There are very very good vendors online through amazon and elsewhere just do your research, two online shops in Michigan are top notch and fast quality shipping. Shop elsewhere they are just too expensive ....even with inflation!

2021-03-28Amazing place for hydroponics and brewing supplies. Very impressive stock of items. Huge variety of fresh and bagged brewing grains. Ive been thinking of getting into home brewing and hydroponic gardening, and decided to check this place out. I want expecting much, but WOW!!!! THIS STORE REALLY HAS IT ALL. Its website doesnt do it justice. ANY THE PRICES SEEMED QUITE REASONABLE. I say reasonable because Im not familiar with the cost of brewing and hydroponic supplies, but I didnt get sticker shock when looking at the prices. Theres even some cheese making and sausage making supplies.

Dave, I think his name is, is extremely knowledgeable and took his time to explain many things and helped me get what I needed.I’ll sure be back and they made a customer for life today.The prices are great also. Cheaper then Amazon by a lot on soil!!
