I ate lunch here yesterday, and it was just as good as I remember it was when I was a little kid! I ordered a junior Oyster Bay burger with a side of fries. I didnt want to order it deluxe, because the deluxe comes with fries and a side salad, but I didnt really want the salad. The food came out quickly and our server was really nice. My burger was absolutely COVERED in sautéed mushrooms, onions and sweet peppers. It was almost a little ridiculous to think I could put the bun on and eat it like normal! I ended up eating it with a knife and fork because it was so big. The fries here are awesome too! Thin and crispy, my favorite!
I ordered the Texas burger and was impressed. The meat portion is huge, and fresh. Very tasty and well prepared. Decor was a bit on the outdated side but had its charm, had a diner feel to it.Prices were fair for the portion you are served. Will definitely be coming back to Tabys.
The food wasnt the greatest. My steak was charred, I have asked for medium rare. It was well done at the ends (charred) middle was medium well. It wouldnt be so bad if the ends wasnt so burnt I can deal with medium well. That ruin the steak. I loved the string beans it was perfectly made with a nice crunch and tenderness, but my boyfriend says it was bland. My shrimps was perfectly made, a nice crunch when bitten into. Onion rings was typical. Waffle fries was good but again my boyfriend said it was bland. Over all the food was ok. The main star of my meal was bad. It was my first and will be my last time going there. The server was good.
The best burger on Long Island! I took my father out for lunch the other day and we had 2 unbelievable burgers. This restaurant is owned by a great family who truly care for their patrons. The food is fantastic, the service is friendly and this place definitely my familys favorite place to go for a great meal.
This restaurant is a gem in Long Island. I had the best burger I have ever eaten in my life from Tabys. My girlfriend got the chicken pot pie and her father got the steak and boy oh boy how they loved every bite. I was lucky enough to get to try both their dishes and I was amazed. I love this place- It is my go to restaurant when I am hungry and want to eat the best food that money can buy.
I have been coming here for over 20 years. First visit since the pandemic was this week. Although the food was still amazing and the service fabulous, I did not feel safe. The kitchen staff had their masks completely below their mouths the entire time I was there, some wait staff did the same and the lovely female cashier didn’t even attempt to wear a mask! Several elderly patrons paying bills were less than four feet from her and she never once covered her face. Menus not wiped down between customers either. I truly love this gem but will wait another six months if necessary to return. Not worth taking the risks associated with eating here. Please comply with regulations Taby!!
We had an amazing early dinner at Tabys today! The relaxed, casual & comfortable atmosphere was warm & inviting, the staff was friendly & attentive and the service all around was absolutely stellar. Their burgers are ridiculously delicious, the serving sizes are huge, and their fries were really, REALLY good!! With so many places to choose from in Oyster Bay to grab a bite to eat, we are thrilled that we chose Tabys... Just wish we had allowed room for one of their desserts!! We will no doubt be returning - frequently!
A hidden gem. This unassuming old school eatery is an absolute pleasure. It has some strong diner roots to the menu, which is large. We had burgers that were delicious, and were served by the most charming older gent. He made us feel so comfortable and right at home. I cant wait to visit again.
I used to work in OB and was eating their burgers 25 years ago and have NEVER FOUND A BURGER THAT CAN COMPARE! It is amazing, and cooked exactly the way I like, and the wait staff is always friendly and accommodating. You will NEVER find a better burger on planet earth! Their other food is also very good.
Diner style restaurant located in the heart of oyster bay NY. Clean restaurant with friendly staff. The food is good, service is good, but I do find it overpriced. Burgers are good, but not amazing. Tends to get busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Parking in rear of building. I dont visit often due to the price point, families can definitely do better at other restiants for the amount you pay at Tabys.
I love this place! They offer first-rate meals, they have a rich menu, The chief cook in that place is very experienced, I love a lot eating all their food. The dishes are consistently fresh, the attitude towards the guests is good. I frequently visit this place and I not even once was unsatisfied. Highly recommended.
I never had been in here before. I was in Oyster Bay and out of all the places I choose to eat at, I choose this place. The food was typical diner fare. I bought a cheeseburger deluxe with a coffee. I was surprised at the prices. Maybe because I was in O.B. but I thought the prices were a bit high. There was a big price difference between just a cheeseburger and the cheeseburger deluxe. Aside from that, the staff was friendly. My waiter was very attentive and pleasant. (I tipped him well.) The place was clean. However, I do not know if I will come back to this estsblishment to eat.
Been here for a late breakfast and early dinner. The service is great. The people are very pleasant and accommodating. The food is good too. Pricing and portions good be slightly better when compare to other dinners. I would recommend for a family owned business. The burgers are huge!Update: my family and I had a good breakfast here the other day...until I had to pay the bill. I was hit with a 4% fee to use my debit card. Maybe I missed the fine print on the menu, but the menus looked the same, so this bait and switch is upsetting. This makes me not want to support local business. You get some pathetic attempt with a sign at the register explaining their increased cost of business and how they have to transfer it onto the consumer. People with credit cards now have to pay a % to Visa/MC/AX and another % to the business. Whats the point of carrying cards nowadays unless you shop at businesses that has the capacity to factor in credit card costs into their pricing. I would rate lower, but this seems to be a trend amongst small businesses in the area, so if you roll around with alot of cash or dont mind being surcharged, then its not so bad. People dont want to hear your excuse of increased costs, everyone, personal or business, has them...just factor it into your pricing like the rest of the world. No one will mind paying an extra $0.40 on a $10 item (4%), as long as they dont feel blindsided by unexpected fees.
Went here on a recommendation. Quaint atmosphere, service was fine. I ordered a salad with turkey that is not on the menu. When then bill came, I was surprised to find that adding 3 slices of turkey was and extra $9.00. The owner/manager was rather rude when confronted of this excessive charge. Because of his unwillingness to justify this excessive cost, I cannot recommend this diner.
I just had the BEST burger of my life! And damn, havent we all had a lot of burgers? Ive had many average, and a few really great over the years, but this was fantastic! Why??? Ok, it was huge, but it many places give you huge to compensate to average quality. This was huge, juice, and with perfect broiled flavor. Ok, a few other places can pull this off too. But this was all these, and it had the most tender texture...it just fell apart in your mouth as you bit it. A lot a burgers are a little tough or rubbery, but this was just flavorful, juicy and delicate. I know that if you over mix ground beef, it actually can get tough. They must just carefully make the patty and leave it to the grill from there. Wow, first time there, but Ill definitely be back! Ed C.
My original review of this place was a four star rave. Unfortunately, upon returning about a year later, I politely requested an open table by the window before being seated. The cashier denied my request and squished us between two crowded tables in the back. He claimed to be holding the table in case a bigger group arrived. We were a party of three and the requested table seated four, as did our table in the back. A small extension placed on the table, which could easily have been moved to any other table made it a “five person table “.Needless to say, we ate our entire dinner and nobody else came in after us to use the table. So , we could have easily been given the table. Instead, management believed that it was unnecessary to meet basic requests which would have ensured a more positive dining experience. The result is the loss of a once enthusiastic customer.
One of the best burgers on Iong Island! Truly a great burger with several menu choices this is a very hardy burger. Not to many spices to dull the flavor of the actual burger meat. This time around I got the Long Islander which consists of the burger topped with American cheese, ham, tomato and a fried onion ring. I left off the onion for personal reasons but I also feel it allows the other flavors to shine.
Best burgers in oyster Bay hands down. Always a consistent place to get food for as long as I can remember. It is pricey but on par with all of oysterbay so dont be shocked to drop at least 20+ bucks on a burger, or a salad or chicken fingers. However I highly recommend dining there.
Ordered a burger to go, came out almost raw. Ordered the burger a different time and it came out too well. Lady at register had a nasty attitude charged me $3 for sauce..........I appreciate their large portions and everything else was good but couldnt understand the womans attitude and then snapping at me for $3 when asking for sauce.
Dont be fooled by the name. This is a full fledged diner, not just a burger joint. We were a group of hungry cyclists looking for something to fill us up, yet not too greasy. The omelette fit that description. The food was great, the service quick, friendly and efficient. If you like to eat a lot of vegetables, be aware that adding vegetables to your omelette will cost you more than adding ham and bacon. Plus another upcharge if you want fresh vegetables.
Tabys has always been consistently one of my favorite places to eat breakfast lunch or dinner. The food is always fresh, cooked properly and very, very tasty. The burgers are awesome. If you order your burger well done it will be thoroughly cooked inside and not burnt on the outside as is common in many other locations. You should try their de-luxe salad, $4.25 as a side dish or as part of your entree. Most times therell plenty left to take home. Once the staff gets to know you it becomes a very family type experience. Parking is also very easy to come by either on the street or in the back parking lot.During busy times, I have a hard time not commenting on other peoples meals as I walk down the aisle because everything looks so enticing. When I do say something, I always get a big grin that tells me those people are really enjoying their meal. Its just that kind of place.
Breakfast special was a filling meal. Eggs, toast, OJ, sausage, hash browns. Be sure to ask for peppers and onions in your hashbrowns if you want more than plain potatoes. Ordering the scrambled eggs soft, not dry didnt seem to influence the kitchen, but to their credit, they speedily replaced the overcooked scrambled eggs with 2 eggs over easy, and they got that right. Mens room was a bottleneck this morning, so go at home so you can wait. Speedy refills on the coffee dont make waiting for the mens room any easier.
I do not recommend eating at Tabbys! As we entered there was a strong strange smell in the back entrance, its revolting. We live locally and have come here before. Our first experience was awful, but we gave it another try. Well, that is it! They were consistent, but in a negative way. Our waitperson was unpleasant, and seemed aggravated to be there, and kept getting lost with our drinks. Then the waitperson was extremely rude to our children. I was shocked, because the children were behaving nicely, and quietly seated at the table. I myself do not tolerate children misbehaving at the dinner table!!! The waitperson didnt like that we were using a lot of sugar for our ice teas and the sugar wrappers were in piles on the table. Well then serve sweet tea or deal with the sugar packet wrappers, what can I say...!!! Horrible staff service again! Plain ordinary food, not even displayed nicely on your plate. The lettuce had brown on the edges the tomatoes were definitely sitting around sliced, before they make it to your plate. And wow vinegar salad YUCH! Frozen fish and frozen burger patties fried to your liking, nothing fresh. Terrible food again! And as for the décor or interior design, there is nothing to look at, no décor, its an old rundown place, and dirty dingy if thats a décor design. The floors are very old and run down and dirty. Just awful, I do not recommend it.
Tabys is always exceptional. Lunches, dinners, never disappoints. Dinners come with soup or salad and two sides. Exceptional value, exceptional service, great food in a welcoming environment. Recently we moved to Nashville, but we always have time for Tabys when we visit back home.
I was on my way to your fine gender neutral bathroom and my fight or flight response reached its peak instantly. i found a rabies rat on the floor and stomped on it in an act of heroic self defense. it was a fat one so i assume it got into your food supply. not a very comforting thought.

2021-09-12The Oyster bay burger I ordered was cooked well to my preference, tasted good, and was decently priced. All burgers here have 1/2 lbs (!) of meat, plus the deluxe comes with a surprisingly nice salad and fries that was so much in quantity it was like 3 bags of large McDonald’s fries. All in all, I don’t see how it is humanly possible to finish all that all at once. Our waiter didn’t have a name tag but he was kind and attentive. One downside is the bathrooms which are gender specific and it’s one per gender. I wanted to wash my hands before burgers come but it was occupied and had to wait for more than 15 minutes, which is quite a lot for just washing hands.

2021-08-23A local favorite serving very good food. More like a diner with a large menu.I had to try their burger. I ordered the Tabys Famous 1/2 lb Burger Oysterbay with mozzarella, mushrooms, grilled peppers and fried onions,Also available as a deluxe burger served with French fries and a deluxe salad, which is mixed greens, tomato, feta cheese and vinaigrette dressing. Very good except their need to toast the buns because the juices from the burger soak the bun causing it to fall apart. My ordered the Vegetarian Omelet ,with fresh mushrooms, onions, peppers and tomatoes, served with potatoes and toast with butter and jelly. Huge and also very good.

2022-06-03Was visiting Glen Cove and was hungry for lunch. Wife and I decided to give this place a try as it was packed with people. Boy are we glad we did. We both had the best burgers that we can remember. The place has old charm and very experienced wait service. Loved the place. Cant wait to go back!

2022-01-19One of my favorite places to eat in Oyster Bay. Its been around forever decades. One of the best burgers on Long Island. The deluxes come with a great salad too.The only reason Im giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the burgers could use some seasoning. They are giant half pound burgers (I think), that are perfectly cooked to order every time, but sadly I dont think there is any salt or seasoning on the ground beef, which is why I usually get the blue cheese burger (blue cheese is pretty salty). Otherwise dont feel bad for salting the patty before biting in.Highly recommend if you are looking for a great burger near Oyster Bay.

2022-02-12We ordered 4 California burgers. The quality of the meat was appalling and the taste was not good. When the waitress asked us how the order is, we told her this.We returned 4 burgers untouched (except of first bite) and nothing was deducted off our tab.To conclude - very bad experience!!

2022-05-27I once was a loyal customer!!! The owner(George) told my girlfriend I was not welcome there any more. I walked out after waiting 30 minutes for two burgers with only 4 tables occupied . He told her she was still welcome there. Her answer was are you serious!!!!

2022-05-21This was one of the worst hamburgers I’ve ever tasted, unseasoned, over cooked, and the bun was so soggy it fell apart. My daughter got a grilled cheese from the children’s menu which was also a disgusting soggy mess. To boot, someone was slamming a broom into tables, chairs, and a dustpan the entire time we were eating. It was so loud that it was echoing. After 10 mins of this I walked out. So gross.

2019-02-20Fast service, hot food, great hamburgers, always friendly atmosphere, always a table open. There fried zucchini sticks are fantastic. Gyros are excellent too all with very generous portions. Consistently Fresh good tasting food and good serving always get waited on right away food arrives promptly. Seating is always available. Prices For three average $50.00 for burgers or Gyros and french fries and drinks and zucchini sticks. You can either sit in the front windows or in the back room that’s very nice to. And many seats in between.
