Great time had at the Fathers Day Brunch hosted by Taji lounge. Great vibes, and great music. R&B music was hitting from the time we step in to the time we left. I really didnt want to leave..lol. The crowd was a bit younger but we still had fun. I would definitely recommend this place. Oh and the food and bottomless mimosas were great.
Immature bouncers. We had a table and bottles and they still made us wait in line. We were super polite and patient but they still treated us rudely. There’s better clubs where they appreciate you spending money and don’t treat you like you’re lucky to be there. Racist “dress code” made up on the spot. Mitch at the door, in particular, made our stay miserable and then lied to other staff saying we cursed him out. Really, it was a crazy experience in all the wrong ways.
They have horrible customer service. Last time we were there my twin sister was wearing shoes they didn’t accept. So the next time we came we were dressed appropriately. And we we got in and when we went out to check on a friend and told we would be allowed to come back in. We stepped out and we were told by some random guard oh I can’t let you in because last time …. How is that far?! We were with a new group following guidelines and now he ridiculed us in front of people. I feel like we had no reason at this point to not be let in… like it’s just too much. Mind you if you check their Instagram they only updated the dress code about what wasn’t allowed after the incident with my sister from a couple weeks before. They’re basically punishing us for a bad Google review. GO NEXT DOOR SO MUCH BETTER. We went inside previously before they said we couldn’t come back in and it was literally empty lmaoooo.
We held our daughters Bat Mitzvah at Taj this weekend and it couldnt be more perfect! The space is fun, beautiful and lively and the staff was incredibly attentive, friendly and accommodating! I had no stress because the night was organized perfectly by the managers and the staff. I cannot thank them enough for making this the perfect night after a year of planning! It was everything we dreamed of and more!!!
Went to Taj on Saturday to bring in my sisters birthday and besides the DJ everything else was a bad experience. My sister made a reservation prior to coming and got one price, when we arrived at the door the price went up an extra 200 dollars. We paid no problem and then in the midst of smoking hookah the bottle girl comes over and says we are renting this table again. Very unprofessional especially since we just paid 1,000 for the section. Security is extremely rude and was trying to hustle everyone all night.
Don’t waste your time or money here!!!!! Security is SO RUDE and nasty!!!!! I bought tickets for the party that was being thrown Saturday night. Me and 6 friends were waiting in line for almost an hr for “the doors to open” even though it was well past when the doors were supposed to open. When we finally got in the security said I had to check the sandals I had in my purse with coat check (which was way too expensive). Halfway through the night when my feet were really hurting from my heels I went to coat check to put my sandals on and check my heels. A very rude security guard came up to me and said you can’t wear sandals in the club (they were dressed up sandals not flip flops btw). I responded with “there are a bunch of girls walking in with sneakers on” and she says “that doesn’t matter you can’t wear sandals, we’re women we’re supposed to wear heels it is what is it, keep arguing with me and you won’t get back in”. Security was so rude, they let people in with running sneakers, ugg slippers, even vans, but sandals aren’t aloud. Drinks were so expensive and there isn’t anywhere for you to sit at all throughout the night unless you buy a table for minimum $300. This place is a joke and all the staff are rude as hell, especially coat check and security. Don’t waste your time or give these ignorant people your money. Oh and don’t forget ladies, running sneakers are fine but make sure you don’t wear any sandals!!
Friday night was not what they crack this place up to be. Way to many females dressed in sneakers who appear to be around 21. No real men in the building. DJ was super wack with this music. Some girls came in with flats and sneakers but others were turned around at the door. Some people came in with an extra pair of flats in their purse while others had to pay $5 for coat check to keep there shoes. Clearly they pick and choose what rules apply to different people.
This is a fun place to party not to eat. If you expect a great meal be advised this is not the place for that. The veggie curry (which I added Shrimp to for $7 extra and only came with 5 medium sized Shrimps) was made with what seemed to be frozen mixed veggies, not an onion, pepper or tomato in sight and it was extremely bland. Cauliflower Salad came with (2) small florets of cauliflower... terrible. It was a good vibe though I’ll give them that, just don’t expect a meal that would be worth the price.
Our server was very attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. However everything else was horrible.First we ordered bottle service. We were originally going to go with one bottle of champagne ($350) and decided to go with two bottles of cognac ($650) because we were told we could sit near the DJ booth with the two bottles. As soon as we paid and sat down we were told we would have to move because it was a now promotors table. This felt deceptive as they waited until they took the money to tell us. Ultimately the bottle service landed us a section behind a giant bean from that blocked off most of the view of the venue and was odd to navigate around.Secondly the security guard kept staring at my fiance specifically. He kept coming back and staring at this one particular person, when I noticed I started paying more attention. Several other people also noticed that the security guard was intensely watching my fiance. When asked about this the guard said he suspected someone of smoking weed at our table but 1. He was only staring at one person in particular, and did this after multiple pass bys. Whether my fiance was sitting at the table, smoking hookah, dancing on dance floor, the guards eyes were glued to just this one person. 2. The group of people who WERE smoking weed were 2 sections over from us, smoking leaning against the wall out in the open and not only did the guard not stop to inspect there but he also just walked past them every time. I cant help but feel that my fiancé being a visibly gay man played a major part in this behavior as we had several points of issue with this particular security guard that no one else in our group did.I typically would not care, however after spending $1000 on drink, food, and hookah I think a space to be comfortable for a short celebration is not much to ask.Again I do want to thank our server for being consistently fantastic throughout the night, she really did make the rest more tolerable, and she is the only reason Im leaving more than one star.
Don’t waste your time if your looking for good Service! This used to be my favorite spot but because of their employee Chris in Events I will never come back to this place again. I’ve spent Over $1200 here in 2021 and I attempted to spend another $600 but Because of the way I was treated I will never in life spend a dime an this spot again. Normally I get in with 2 of my friends who dj here but when I attempted to book a table for me and my 8 friends the event planner Chris was rude and unprofessional. I called earlier in the week and he gave me a quote but when I called back to book he changed what was originally told to me. He never spoke of a time slots the first time we spoke and when I continued to inquire as to what he was talking about he cut me off and spoke over me so my questions were never heard. Then he continues to hang up on me when I got loud to speak over him. I work as a manager for a Hilton property in midtown and I normally tell my guest who are out of town to stop in to taj to have a good time. Now I’m taking my guest,my friends and my business else where. Maybe I will come back when they hire someone to can use proper listening skills to conduct business. I called back to ask for a manager and he hung up on me again. I just booked another table at Salls lounge and have just as much fun. They are nice and professional over there.
I am frequent Taj and Ive never had anything negative about the place. However, my experience when I left an expensive scarf behind by mistake. I asked about it and was told that it was found and hung in the coat check area, and I would get before I left. However when the staff member went to get it, it was no longer there😒😏. I dont get it, its a staff only area. I will not make assumptions...but really??? Im so disappointed by this, its the principal!!! Honesty...Rare to come by!!!
I came here for “game night” there wasn’t much planning or interactive games. They just took out uno cards and connect 4 and you played amongst your own group. Other places made it where the games would be in designated spots for you to mingle but I guess with the panorama they didn’t want to do that. The DJ started out the night with early 2000 music but eventually got better as the night progressed. They had a menu but it was a $45 prefixed menu with unlimited mimosas and “punch” Bellini for 2 hours. The drinks were cheap and did not taste good. If you wanted another cocktail it was between $14-$16 per cocktail on top of the $45. The food was ok. I ordered their chicken and waffles. They gave a good amount of chicken but it tasted just alright. Besides all of that I enjoyed myself with my girls. Would I come back here maybe but not for the food and drinks. Also it was $50 to reserve a table or it would be first come first serve. Then when the bill came they didn’t take that amount off towards our food we had to ask about it.
Bad service. Made us wait in line for 30 minutes WITH RESERVATION. Bouncer was rude. Booked a ‘table’ in the ‘section’ for 8 people we got a small wooden garden table in the middle of the dance floor with 4 chairs. People where taking our chairs we had no room. Overall bad experience not coming back.
We were there to celebrate a friends birthday. Sandra and Princess were the absolute best and made our brunch experience the BEST! Sandra has the patience of a Saint and Princess was one of the best waitresses her customer service is A1! If you go there you wanna be in whatever section Princess is at. The vibe, music and food was on point too.
I wish there was an option for no stars because this place doesn’t even deserve one… Horrible service and employees are very rude and disrespectful. I went there for a friends bday brunch Sunday and we had a reservation for 4pm and didn’t get seated until 4:45pm. Once we were seated we didn’t receive any service until 5:20. Then the lady who seats guest lives our party to another table without letting our waitress know and we weren’t able to put in our orders until 6:30. Once we finally got our food at around 7:20 the staff said there were no utensils and we had to wait until they washed some in the kitchen. Finally the staff began rushing us out of the establishment at 8:20pm. The audacity to rush us out when when went through all this he’ll for 4 hours. And when I asked to speak to a manager the staff gave me the run around. A security lady told me she was the manager and then to find out she wasn’t. Then when we got outside 6 cops came because one of the guards pushes a lady down in the ground and was being very disrespectful towards her outside. This establish is very; I’m ashamed to say “ ghetto” and needs to be shut down immediately. Whoever is running this establishment should either hire some new professional workers or they will always have complaints. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!! I will never go there again and I don’t recommend anyone else gov their either. Don’t wats your time or money because it’s not worth it.
Went last Saturday after work experience was smooth altho that lady in the front that takes the cash looks miserable and acted miserable customer service is important because we as the customers pay the bills dont like it dont work the drinks were a bit expensive but the bartenders where very nice and grateful .one minor thing i also hate is how hard it is to get a drink because people are just in the way at the bar
Horrible experience. Arrived on time for our table (8pm rezy) just to not hear from a waiter until after 45 minutes. Our food came out another 45 minutes after that (10:30-10:40) just for us to be rushed because they had to turn the restaurant into a club. The cups were dirty, silverware was dirty, and the food was mid, honestly.
Very low scale for pricing birthday package was supposed to come with free Hookah but did not. Then after paying for two Hookahs was told despite that need to pay for another bottle despite the $900+ purchase of two bottles and champagne (not including Hookah) Service was extremely slow and had an attitude
Overall had a good time until the waitress decided to claim she didn’t take my debit card and drivers license when it’s protocol to take it (as per the managers). And lie and said she gave it back, to she never took it because I was giving her a hard time. The waitress couldn’t except her own fault of losing something or probably trying to do something she wasn’t supposed to. As a customer after all that was done I still paid for my bill that was over $130 even when I still wasn’t pleased.
Me and the girls stopped by sometime in April during a quick trip to NYC. We realized that it was pretty quiet because of COVID restrictions but we actually ended up having a good time. There was hookah and drinks flowing. The DJ was good and the people who were at the table next to us ended up joining in on the fun too so it made for a good time. Might need to revisit again when the events start to lift the ban but the food was good and the drinks were perfect. The staff was cool as well.
If I could give 0 stars I would. No lie.. I would rather someone use a carrot peeler to peel off my skin inch by inch than ever come here again. The experience here was painful. Food- people at front- price- and the so called club experience. The food was trash. Multiple workers had an atrocious attitude. The waiters were nice but the people in the front were a nightmare. They acted like this was an exclusive club when it served dollar store champagne and sludge they claim is orange juice. The food was also appalling for the price. A two year old could’ve came up with a better menu. Save your money and sanity and don’t come here. Do not ever waste your time or money here for a “club experience” for this bogus brunch.
We had our Corporate Holiday Event here and we loved it. The staff was great. Christopher the Events Manager and Paul the General Manager really took care of us and our employees. We had a dancing robot, sax guy while guests arrived and some poker tables upstairs. The DJ Chris was also amazing, we told him basic info and he ran with it. Ohh the food was to die for, beautifully set and tasted even better. 10/10 recommend this place for your private events. But also if you feel like staying longer and partying with the crowd after you can do so as well. We started at 7PM party ended at 11PM (was supposed to be 10PM but had to extend because everybody had such a great time), and after half the people stayed and partied longer once the place opened to the general public. Thank you Taj Lounge for knocking our Holiday Party out of the park.
I had a very good time, but I wish the DJ on 7/16 didnt switch up the vibe so much, it felt all over the place at times. The prix fixe brunch with unlimited mimosas and bellinis made the experience much better. I didnt like that the entire lounge was emptied just to have guests return minutes later, that was very annoying.
I give it two stars because even though the music was good, drinks were terrible. When I say terrible, I mean over priced and watered down liquor! I even got 1 shot and 1 double shot of henny for both and still didnt even get a buzz! Obviously something aint right bc 3 shots plus the drink that I had would get me tipsy ! Highly disappointed.
Spent $45 for the brunch only to get there and there was no brunch (it was advertised as a a brunch!)🙃 so I paid $45 for what exactly? they werent even charging that much at the door they need to have better organization as far as the way they set up their events its either a restaurant or its not they have random people selling tickets on event brite basically scaming people out of their money do not come here waste of time and money
Please note that NYPD has 21st block off. The club is deep and it was packed. They didnt do any covid-19 vaccinations card check. The DJ had us dancing and singing all night. I was a lil over dressed as people were wearing sneakers and dresses nonetheless I had a blast.HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HOMIE!🍾🍾🍾
Elitist or anti-black?Went looking for poc-friendly events for out-of-town friends and found this place on IG.I made reservations for 5, and a $50 deposit for Sunday brunch, showed up on-time but security didn’t like MY pants. It be your own people.I ended up at ESSEX’S brunch on Rivington St. (food AND atmosphere were amazing) where I COMFORTABLY enjoyed my shrimp and grits and got lit off bottomless mimosas.
This place is horrible first off when u go on the website it says nothing about about a mandatory coat check in or a admission fee which is both cash only. The lady in the front with dreads is extremely rude and disrespectful. The customer service was atrocious nobody wants go to place where the employees are rude af I came to have a great night with my friends for her birthday and was shocked how the customer service was not a priority.
Went here for a birthday brunch & if you’re looking for a party atmosphere in the middle of the day this is definitely it! The staff and waitress were all very nice & helpful but the food was ehh.. we had a party of 10 and everyone received their food except the guest of honor. We had to inform 2 different people at the bar before we were able to get his forgotten food order in which arrived after everyone else was done eating & we were no way comped for the mishap (not even a slice of birthday cake for the birthday guy!) As many others have mentioned in their reviews, when the bill came the $50 deposit towards our check was conveniently forgotten, which I find odd because the deposit is mandatory & is THEIR policy. The waitress adjusted the bill with no problem and again was helpful. Bottom line if you’re looking for a great party vibe, you will not be disappointed, but the food was just OK…. The staff do their best with what they can, and were ALL professional with smiles. The DJ was great and I would return here to party, but not to eat.
I enjoyed my night giving the DJ 2 stars.Way to crowded, there shouldnt be that many tables downstairs. If people are buying tables they should buy them upstairs, I saw a argument because a female sat in someones section 🤦🏿.Dont know why security was posted up in front of the DJ booth made me upset because I love dancing and they kept getting in my way. Drinks were overpriced. Event states drinks are 2for 1 before a certain time and the bartender did not honor that. So please take that off of the event if your not doing it.****My review is before the pandemic ***
Came here for my birthday brunch. I thought the prices were reasonable and the food was good! You can get hookah. Bottomless brunch lasts for two hours, I would recommend coming after 3 pm, that’s when it’s more crowded. Music is on point and it’s good vibes. The decor inside is nice too!
Only good times at this place. The music is always good, the drinks are a decent price. The bathroom is cleaned regularly with someone always standing outside with a bunch of needed supplies if you forget something at home. Taj has a very nice atmosphere that makes you keep on coming.
Went for the brunch, waitress only came around once, literally had to hunt her down and when we went to order drinks, hookah and more food she stated the table was being given to another party who was buying 1 bottle for 500 dollars. Will not be going back. Gave 2 stars for the music
I love Taj. I have been going Fridays afterwork for about the last 7 years or more prior to Covid. The food is good and prices are reasonable. I am able to reserve a cabana or table with the friendly staff Christopher, Kristen and Marilyn who are my favorites. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. GREAT MUSIC AND VIBES Just celebrated my 65th bdya there Jan 2022 and had a blast ! A FAN!
WOULD NOT COME BACK HERE!! I held an open bar birthday here recently and it was awful. First of all there were a total of 1-2 bartenders for the entire venue, the place itself was small but when we arrived half the area was being used for dinner? We were all cramped when it was mostly our own party.Regardless, i really dont understand how there were 1-2 bartenders, and the worst part was that they only allowed you to grab one drink at once even if the people you were grabbing drinks for were standing right behind you. The singular drinks were also extremely watered down, and they would not serve us shots. To pay so much per person for open bar, we could barely get 1 drink every 30 minutes. The worst was when the dinner area ended so the entire venue stopped the music, turned on the lights and were kicking out everyone!! (THEY ALMOST TRIED TO KICK OUT OUR PARTY UNTIL WE EXPLAINED??) We were standing around for almost an hour (OUT OF A 3 HOUR OPEN BAR) while everyone was cleaning, with ZERO music, and none of the staff would explain why this would happen in the MIDDLE of our event. Finally, the bartenders would start to stall by the end of the open bar and refuse to serve even when we actually had a few minutes left. SAVE yourself the energy and the time, do not come!! The staff was also rude and not accommodating at all, since we were standing around waiting for so long, the least they could have done was extend our open bar to compensate but NOTHING. Terrible experience. Demand a refund for all our attendees.
We stumbled into this place when we were finding a place to grab drinks and it was a great spot. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly. We ordered a couple rounds of drinks and shots. We even ordered a hookah too. The Dj was playing great music as well
We booked our table for brunch, no one explained to us anything ( policies and all ) This was actually our second time here for the same thing ( Sunday brunch ) . What happened today , I will never forget. The lady who works by door. I’m assuming she’s the host. She was like “You guys need to leave your time is up” moved us , moved our bags , she was like take your bag too and leave the table “ your reservation is only for two hours. I mean I don’t care about their policy , if I was aware I was going to be okay with it. But you can’t move us like that , in the middle of fun and drinking. I was so aggravated , never felt so disrespected in my life. I had high hopes for this place but it looks like they only care about the money and don’t care about the service. I’m so disgusted and disappointed. Why can’t you ask us politely ? Why do you embarrass us in front of people like that. I know this will happen to most people so just know what you get yourself in to when you book for that Sunday brunch ! They just want to make money. To them you are Shit…
The brunch was absolutely lit! I mean the dj’s were lit! The drinks were amazing and strong! I went with my cousins, aunts and mother! We all had fun and enjoyed the food!! The drinks are really bottomless so don’t be no light weight!!! I met so many amazing people there as well! It was just a really great vibe
I planned a private event for work with the Taj and they were wonderful to work with! They opened just for us on a night they were usually closed at a very reasonable rate and didnt bat an eyelash when we had last minute changes and many dietary restrictions. I would definitely work with them again and look forward to going to their salsa nights when thats up and going again!!
The lady at the coat check tried to play me over $5 when i paid her $20 for me and all my friends. The security tried to blame the fact that I was drinking on the reason I did not get a ticket for my jacket. The lady at the coat check was very rude as I was trying to explain the situation nicely, Not good service.
Sigh... Taj II has never wowed me in a good way.I came here for a birthday dinner. Its a restaurant BUT not really. They serve food that is mediocre at best. Our dinner reservation was at 8:30 pm and a party was in full swing when we arrived. I had to check the time because the amount of tipsy/drunk people was too high for that early in the evening. Someone reminded me that Taj also has day parties so the dinner ambience we thought wed have before the night crowd was not possible. As for dinner the service was decent. Staff was friendly. At one point however when the food was brought out and one of my items was wrong the waitress came back a bit accusatory you told me mashed potato not sweet potato. Im not surprised about the miscommunication, everyone is competing with the speakers. She had to use hand signals in the end if thats any indication. The phyllo puffs were good, hot and fresh. The sauteed vegetables (carrots and squash) were basic and lukewarm. The mashed sweet potatoes were cold but it did taste like theyd added maple syrup or something to sweeten it which wasnt horrible. My cousin had the beef sliders, they were okay but nothing to write home about. I would not have dinner here again. As for the night, we stayed for the evening party and ordered bottle service and hookah. Nothing new there. Again, staff was friendly, cordial. Initial crowd was older (40s) but came down as the night went on. The music was very top 40s until about 1am. My party was underwhelmed by the music. Crowd was well dressed, a lot of birthday celebrations.Oh! Word to the wise - leave your coat in the car (if you can of course). Mandatory Coat check is $3 per item for day and $5 per item in the evening. It was a rainy day so umbrellas included in that per! I thought that was excessive.Would I come here again? Only if someone asked me to for a celebration but Id have to really like them. Otherwise nope I avoid Taj II at all costs. I can spend my money elsewhere.
Free RSVP means nothing, showed up in line at 10:45 while doors open at 11. Free RSVP was before 11:30 but they kept us waiting in line until 11:45. Then once we got in they made us pay a cover even the girls. Terribley mean people working the door. Inside there were barely any people so I do not understand why they were giving us such a hard time. Coat check is $5 and you have no choice says the bouncer. Dress code is not enforced either.
Terrible experience. Do not ask a question or you won’t get in. The way I was disrespected by the male security guards was completely uncalled for and unprovoked. Tried to celebrate my birthday and were told we couldn’t come in after asking a question on payment for entry. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone
First time visiting this spot and my experience was horrible. Here’s a list of concerns.1: Both the waitress and coat check lady were terrible. There’s a “mandatory” coat check at the door, however several people were wearing coats in the venue. Long story short the lady had a IDGAF attitude when I asked to wear my coat, instead I ended up paying to wear the coat because it was a bit cold in there.2: It’s $45 for the meal/bottom less mimosa. I wasn’t told it was $45 PP, if it’s bottom less why should you pay PP what sense does it make to buy unlimited drinks PP. Note, my friend does not drink alcohol. Her service was not worth $20 tip which was included in the bill and she took the $10 tip I gave her prior to me receiving the bill. When I confronted her she also gave a IDGAF attitude. Note, she simply took our order, gave us utensils/cups and two napkins. She didn’t re-visit our table for the remainder of the brunch until I asked for the bill which totaled $123 for two meals and bottom less mimosa.3: Food was basic little to no taste. I ordered Chicken/Waffles. Chicken was hard and Waffle was over toasted. My friend ordered the Rasta pasta/Shrimp, pasta had no flavor/taste.4: Mimosa was watered down.5: Bathroom was disgusting, both the male/female bathroom entrance doors were wide open because the doors weren’t fixed. Additionally the male toilet doors were also damaged and fail to close. There were tissue all over the floor.Other than that the music was cool and the hostess at the main door was awesome. Guys, if you’re going to visit this spot simply be careful, they will take advantage.
Nice ambiance. Cozy booths, but thin padding on the seats. Plenty of seating in the upper level. Went for a Hustle/Salsa event. More Hustle than Salsa. Plenty of floor space but, with a larger crowd, space would be limited. No elbow room on Salsa nights. Wooden floor is slow. Needs TLC. Sound system is good. Didnt eat or drink so, I cant comment on the food or drinks. Only drank a $5.00 16.9 oz bottle of Poland Spring.
Getting the table is rushed because they want your spend more to keep it. I got a bday package and i could have saved that money. The food is super basic. The bottle girls are helpful and nice to look at. The djs are great. I dont appreciate the policies or how weak the customer service was
Amazing DJ who played great 90s & current hip hop, reggaeton and R&B. Drinks were on point but also cost $14-$20 each and the shots, which are so MINIATURE, are $15. Bartenders were super nice and the bathroom is large which is good. The security guard who was a woman made us all feel very uncomfortable though she was WAYYYYY too touchy when frisking the ladies on line. They wanted $350 bottle service for a table, which is fine. I found it weird though that you can’t buy hookah unless you buy a bottle though, that sucked!
Staff was very rude and disrespectful. not organized I booked a VIP table a month ago they took my money and gave our table away that we had made reservations and paid $50 deposit plus 250 for bottle service. we had to sit at a two seater table that was very small and could barely fit anything on the table. rude no good customer service at all. One guy said come back and spend all yall money. Ladies bathroom was very disgusting and not sanitized. The DJ played the same music over and over again
Well first off wayyyy to many staff members at the front . They could be better off inside helping the overcrowded brunches . We sat down at a small table . My whole party couldnt fit . They didnt even bring any chairs. They stuck us in the corner and left us . Finally came back and took our order but bring two pitches for 10 ppl . My friends stood up to eat and before the two hrs was up they was kicking us out . The 90 gratuity for what??? ... the place is over booked and overcrowded. The best part was the music until the put you out smh . Food was ok . Nothing special
This place is horrible & money hungry. Made a reservation and still had to wait. Had to open up a bar tab of $160 just to skip the long line. They force you to get bottles if u want a table. The bottle service went from $350 to 1,000 couldn’t get a table , was not paying that. It was just a bad birthday experience. Good Dj tho. Would never go again
Taj very small event space however its quite the place for a Sunday brunch! I ordered the chicken & red velvet waffles. It was okay, the food came hot & tasty & it was filling. The bottomless mimosas and Bellinis were waaay too sweet and didnt compliment the food. Needless to say the overall meal was just OK. If you are looking for a GOOD food experience this is not it in my experience. The atmosphere was live seemed like everyone was having a great time. The DJ is a Union DJ which are widely known to have great djs in their camp. I didnt remember his name however he had ppl dancing and played a bit of everything not just R&B which was appreciated. We ordered drinks b/c the ones they give to you were horrible, and a shot which by the way are communion cups NOT SHOT GLASS SIZE CUPS lol. A way for them to save money on liquor. The waitress were nice and the door folks were great as well. The crowd age range was grown 30-50 old. Everyone dressed up & there were no bad vibes.
This place is just ghetto. Came here for my birthday and every staff member acted like we were an inconvenience. Waiter spilled juice on my friend and did not even apologize. Security had us waiting even though we had a reservation. Tried to kick us out after two hours even though we had a reservation for bottle service. Ugh. Don’t come here for a birthday. I did not feel welcome and we spent over $1000 at this place for bland food out of a cardboard box, watered down mimosas that was basically juice, and 2 bottles. Just awful. DONT DO IT.
The servers and the staff were very nice but for me the drinks seem to be watered down. The space didnt give me elegant nor a party feel. The security was a bit excessive and over the top for a laid back crowd. I would definitely return to give it another chance because the food was good. It was a Sunday night so Im not sure if that played into all the factors.
It was Horrible, worst bday ever!! I make a reservation for a table of six with Christopher (whom is manager of all the Taj or whatever) anyway , thought I was good for making it with him. He said don’t worry let Paul know he’s your host for the night. He said just ask foe PaulAt the door and you will be good! It was a rainy night and my guest was arriving and they was told no reservation under that name and her on line!’ I get to the front and explained everything to them and they laughed and said they don’t run nothing is the promoters and the bouncers. Had to go crazy and ask for Paul and he can barely help but we got in but it was the worst experience in NYC! It’s not the sameAnymore. I will never go back there again!!
Shout out to Sandra! She made sure we were taken care of! Thank you 😁 The music was good, sometimes more pop than R & B but I was still vibing nonetheless. Bathrooms are clean, atmosphere is very inviting with high cielings and dim lights. Food was OK, definitely nothing to rave about. Scrambled eggs are made from a pre-mix (not fresh cracked) and they serve you using to-go containers and plastic utensils. The bellinis and mimosas were really good!
I had a reservation here for brunch with 2 hour mimosas. We were running late due to traffic. We were celebrating a birthday and half of the party came all the way from Philadelphia. Upon arrival we were told that it was no problem, nothing else was mentioned. After ordering, they brought out our food and the check and told us we had to leave. This was only after 1 hour. I spoke with the manager who wasnt helpful or particularly courteous. I was told that our time started at the reservation time, even though we had only been there for a hour. I understand we were late, and its covid and restaurants have suffered. But just tell me at the door that I only have 1 hour. Dont wait until after Ive sat down and ordered and kick me out. That is deceptive. On top of that, most of the tables were empty so it was not out of neccessity. In addition the food was bland, and the dj was just okay. Most of the time was spent playing music from other decades. The only highlight was the waitress, she was very kind and courteous. I will not return.Edit: In response to management. No one told me anything. The girl at the door never mentioned it and you never spoke with me. I booked online, so how did you tell me anything? More lies. Not a good look, just apologize and keep it moving.
I have never in my life been so disgusted by treatment of security,I will never come back to this locationI feel so disrespected and idk if I was being extorted because I had on rainbow pride shoes in pride month or I just looked like an easy target.Absolutely disgusted if it wasn’t my sisters birthday I honestly would not still be here. Trying my hardest to not bring the mood down. However being disrespected in such a manner just does something. I digress and will tellYou all what happened. My friends and family arrive at Taj and we inform them of the reservation, we arrived staggered within 10-12 minutes of each other. Two of us had on shorts, I was the second person to attempt to gain entry with shorts, I was pulled to the side and told we have a dress code. No shorts by security, but I’ll let you in for $60. Well I then state is the dress code just enforced for those you want to single out and extort money from?Because someone else is definitely in my party already inside wearing shorts, He said well If you want to get in it’s $60. I attempted to speak to the hostess who handles the reservations (small female with dreads wearing blue belly beads) and she said who told you that? (As if she was appalled) I told her and she only then said no it’s a dress code and didn’t even attempt to rectify the attempted extortion. The other security guard (a tall bald African American male with a goatee) said I only let one person in with shorts and that was because he was with someone else.I then reiterated that the dress code is only enforced on select individuals, if it’s a strict dress code it should be enforced no matter the person.I had jeans in my car and I had no problem putting them on I just wanted to know why I had to change and the straight man didn’t? And why was I going to be extorted for being gay? Or is this just common practice, let’s extort our patrons!I also intend to write the city councilman for this area, I really am offended by this. It’s 2021 and pride month who would’ve thought in manhattan of all places.
Went there to celebrate my birthday on Saturday (Melanin & Mimosas) it was amazing! They enforce social distancing and mask wearing so when u get up to use the bathroom etc you must have yours on. Very clean and the waitresses were on point with the mimosas and Bellinis! They made sure to replace it as soon as it was almost empty. The food was great except the Rasta pasta was a little bland. Other than that the music was old school and new school, a perfect balance of both! The staff was very professional as well. Will definitely be returning!
So we decided to pick this place for a friends Birthday thinking it would be a great place. We RSVP on eventbrite for dinner. When we reached the place we were told we were not on the list even though we showed our reservation from the website. Then was told we would have to sit outside when it should have been inside. Horrible experience especially driving an hour and a half to get there. Will never recommend this place to anyone. The staff was rude and was not even understanding when we showed our confirmation email for our reservation. They could have handled the whole thing a different way. I will never waste my time to attempt to come to this place ever again. A friend of mine told me the food was horrible anyway!!! So disappointed in the management and staff.
Had a private event at Taj. Chris and everyone else there that night were amazing hosts. Great food, great music, amazing time. Everyone had only good things to say.Chicken and waffles were, personally for me, deliciousThanks Chris for taking care of us! Can’t wait to go back
Ladies be warned! this place advertises on eventbrite with a disgusting dress code repeatedly reminding women to dress sexy and banning comfortable footwear like athletic sneakers for women (white its okay for men!!) It is EXTREMELY disturbing and encouraging of inappropriate behavior with women. Stay safe and dont go here!!
Initially went for brunch day party last summer, food, drinks, and music were really good; had so much fun no complaints. Went back in December for a friends birthday party and was disgusted. First, not allowed to bring extra shoes into the space apart from the heels youre wearing, fine understandable about an upscale dress code, but then would let girls in with Adidas sneakers and jeans. Doesnt make sense. Wouldnt have worn heels if we knew they were partially following their own dress code. Bouncers (male and female) were not very nice. Was then harassed by 7ft tall bouncers all night about keeping heels on during party. Paid over $500 for a standing table, to be in pain and shivering all night as we were not allowed to bring in sweaters. I will not be returning
Terrible experience.Hookah: The hookah was literally self serve. We had no help. We asked for tongs and was given a fork although the hookah price is $45. Also be aware if you burn through your coal it’s an additional $10 and the coal did not last long in comparison to other places. We asked for service countless time to help with the hookah and never received any help. It had the burnt Smokey taste and we couldn’t fix it, no one helped but yet we ended up paying for something we couldn’t even enjoy.Music: due to covid there is no dj-big allowed which is understandable. The DJ can only play songs from a playlist and the playlist was boring After 30 so there was no vibe. No Afrobeats, Caribbean etc songs so if that’s your vibe this may not be your place. Requested the DJ to play a more diverse playlist rather than the throwbacks to no avail.Customer service: once they were ready to closed they very rudely rushed us out. We got our bill and with two minutes was asked to hurry and pay. Prior to even getting our bill we were getting kicked out and had to explain that we had never got the bill.Tip included: also just be aware that if you’re a party of 3 the top the time will automatically be added. This was an additional $21 charge to the $45 hookah plus $10 charcoal. There was a tall guy who was super nice when we arrived maybe the owner, he welcomed us very nice but we couldn’t find him when all the problems began. The waiter was also super sweet but for a $136 bill we just would have rathered good music and good hookah rather than a friendly greeting and sweet server. It’s a pandemic and times are hard. Every penny counts and should be worth the experience. I sadly can not say that this was.
Large venue and great vibes. We went here during a Saturday night and again for Sunday brunch. The music is extremely loud, maybe a little too loud honestly. I would not recommend Taj for brunch. The food was subpar. Youre paying $45 for food that tastes like it was pre-made frozen food (low quality). Even though the food was not good, the service my group and I received was. The environment is energetic, and the music was good. The DJ was a bit annoying at times because his transitions were pretty bad, and he talked over the mic a lot.
This Place tries to get over.. Its $3 for the coat check in any other items you have such as a backpack you charge $3 per item. I also found the bartenders to be very rude. It was 2 fold 1 and I asked the bartender was the cost for a glass of wine he told me $15. While the person I was sitting at the table with Had ordered a glass of wine. I then after another bartender who confronted the bartender who told me a lie. I found it Very disturbing that she had nothing to say about the matter either. Bro you know I didnt tip Them.. Was there on another occasion In sat down. While the worker was very rude Im told me the area where I was sitting was reserved and attempted to get up bouncer to intimidate me. Its a good thing the bouncer walked away after that because he dont know what he had come in. I find the place to be overpriced and the people are rude
Had an amazing time here last Saturday. The venue size is nice and large. The staff was all amazing. They offer hookah, though I dont think they actually use flavors despite offering different ones. It was one of the few places I could find that do. I ordered food, and it was about average of what you would expect. The music was on point . I would go back again.
Event staff was excellent, atmosphere was great, the music and the band were exemplary. The Bartender was rude, overcharged us and disrespectful to my guest (visiting from out of town). The event promoter was courteous and addressed our concerns. The coat check was rude and unconciliatory, she almost forced a circumstance where we were forced to leave without all our paid items. We paid for a blazer and an umbrella (policy demands separately) when we returned she refused to recognize the coat check slip and claimed she had no umbrella (the very same one we brought in and paid a separate fee for).
My Granddaughter reserved VIP section for mother’s birthday,(my daughter) when we got there was not given the VIP section. They gave us 2 tables..Very disappointing!!! Also was told to be there by 10 pm got there then was told doors open at 11 😩 Very cold outside!!!! Had to wait... they said they would try to get us in by 10:30....NOT!!! Maybe 10:45 (thanks) Dress code is a JOKE!!! Women had to wear heels!!! I guess the women that they choose because I saw flat shoes, sneakers, flat boots. I guess those people came with Dr’s notes🤷🏽♀️. I say give us what we pay for! Do what you advertise! The rules are for everyone not just for some! Customer service should be better! The only thing I liked was the DJ. Keep your club.....Will not be coming back and won’t recommend!! NO THANKS!!!!!
I went here to celebrate my birthday! I had a great time.. Great music. The sound system is on point, and though loud, you can still have a conversation with someone. The DJ was on point too! He kept the music flowing.. I love this place.. will definitely go again... Great place if you have a party and get bottle service.
I booked Taj for my daughters Sweet Sixteen...beautiful venue...and unique decor. Marilyn, was exceptional! She truly is a doll...was warm, informative, and assisted throughout the entire process.. she even came in on her day off to make sure our event was set up correctly! I am very particular about the way I want things done & she was patient and accommodating to my every request/change. Chris was also their to help, give suggestions and made sure everything was to our liking...Daria made sure the entire event ran on schedule, paying attention to every detail...cannot thank them enough for assisting me! What a great team! I will not hesitate to book with them again! My daughter, her friends, and family enjoyed every moment of her Sweet Sixteen at Taj Lounge! Oh and the food was so delicious!!
Nice after work spot on Fridays... Get ready to dance with great people. Great 2 for 1 drinks and half off appetizers from 5pm-8pm... Theyve changed the seating layout upstairs to accommodate smaller parties and to open the space... They also add gratuity to each order so running a tab might be a better choice...
The place was really nice. A little small but nice all the same. The food was pretty good. The music was great but the DJ kept switching songs too fast. Other than that I would love to go back there and even DJ there one night. If your in the area check it out. Good place to have a birthday party
The rules were a obnoxious, as someone from out of town I had been walking in heels all day and just wanted to change into flats I was rudely told no and that I had to check my flats into coat check 🙄 so instead of getting a patron who was comfortable and in a good mood they got me. Im not spending a dime. Plus the DJ was obnoxious as well, too much talking between/over songs, never playing one thing all the way through. The only thing that saved the place was that the owner (I believe) a woman seemed genuinely interested in making sure people were being respectful I saw her escort someone out for getting too rowdy and following up on a guy who was being a creep. If it wasnt for her, no stars I would have preferred to stay home and thats a shame.
****PRICE GOUGING BEWARE****Taj II Lounge and Event Space displays false advertising. Taj ll set up a brunch for a party of 6 and they did not disclose any information about brunch pricing. The party of 6 were seated, given a menu of decent pricing for food and drinks. Later the bill arrived and a simple 3 chicken taco priced between $12-$15 on their menu was charged at $45 on the bill, shrimp and grits menu price $20 and check price $50 each, one drink listed on the menu at $15 the check reflect $45 each!!!!! Everything on the menu reflected one price when the check was received the price of each item was more than doubled. Price gouging of that extent by is a business deserves to be look into and be penalized. Taj ll is a rip off by advertising one price then charging more than double on your bill. It is disgusting and distasteful. When the bill was questioned the response from the waiters and waitresses was “because of COVID we are charging additional for brunch items”. There was one menu with no brunch items listed!!!! This is very deceiving and conniving and to use COVID as an excuse to have hidden fees and price gouge and not disclose any of their “special pricing” for food and drinks before hand is very distasteful for a business. A business should not prey on their consumers and customer just to earn extra money. While leaving the lounge the party of 10 realized that another party had the same experienced with price gouging the business did not see to care at all. If Taj II Lounge and Event Space is allowed to continue to operate and cheat their customers out of money then what would stop another business from doing the same? Taj II Lounge and Event Space shame on them. *****FAIR WARNING**** DO NOT ALLOW THIS BUSINESS TO STEAL YOUR MONEY....IT’S NOT WORTH IT!!!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I have planned over 8 holiday parties and Taj was by far the best! The ambiance of the space is beautiful and the was food delicious, but what really made the event special was the professionalism, attentiveness, and thoughtfulness that the Taj team displayed from the beginning of the event right to the very end.I worked with Chris on planning this party, working with him was an absolute pleasure. He’s a ‘yes’ kind of guy. If you have a problem or question he will find a way to solve it or get you that answer. Planning a party for almost 400 people could be a logistical nightmare but Chris made it seamless. There we’re a lot of last minute changes and Chris and his team handled the requests with ease and grace. Servers and bartenders were warm and accommodating. Food was delicious, plentiful and not boring.5/5 starts will definitely be having parties at Taj in the future!
Ive been going to Taj ll for many years. Quite often they have 2 for the price of 1 drinks. They have after work parties on Thursday and Friday. Gear D.J.s. Great bar, door, & floor staff. Spacious and ALWAYS clean restrooms. The venue is well done offering luxury with comfort decor. The space is big enough to always have room to dance and/or sit but, small enough to see the entire room from any position. The door is fair and equitable. No having to buy bottles for guys to get in. They allow people of color to have events there as well.
Don’t waste your time. You’ll find all the club shenanigans here and new ones you didn’t know exist. They require you to stay in your heels the whole time and force you to check your shoes ($5). A separate charge to check your coat ($5). A million dollars for bottle service and $20 per person over tour anticipated number. And STILL end up waiting in line for 45 min.I am shocked there are still so many people willing to be treated this way for a fun night out. Not worth it!!!!!!
Guess it would be a bit better inside. Donthink the locals like the fact we were there outside with music. Police were called. This is definitely a new day with Covid going to take alot of adjusting. The food was ok served in a box tasty a little greasy but enjoyed the group I was with and the servers were very nice!
I dont like their heel rule, but it isnt applicable on their costume nights. I really enjoyed their evening brunch there though. Hardly any people so I could dance and drink with no delay or crowds. At their typical party time, you have to wait on a line outside if you show up after 10. And they make the line go slow and you end up paying a cover if youre at the midpoint of the line or further back. RSVPing doesnt matter because they dont have an RSVP line
Honestly would give no stars if possible. My two best friends and I arrived at 10pm asking if we could get in for salsa dancing. We were told by the front desk bouncer that we had to pay $13. So I spent 40 minutes finding an ATM to pay $39 for a Monday night fun 1 hour New York City Dancing experience. As soon as we got to the entrance after hunting an ATM down, they decided to tell us their boss said we were not allowed inside. So happy I spent 40 minutes finding money for this club to turn us away. Not sure if we are not tan enough or if they told us we had to pay, hoping we wouldnt return. New York Taj should be shut down. Just saying, they ruined my entire New York experience. 😕
If I could give this place a 0 I would, the event was VERY UNORGANIZED THEY HAD PEOPLE WAITING IN 4 DIFFERENT LINES, THEY OVERBOOKED THE CLUB THEN TOLD PEOPLE TO REQUEST A REFUND WHEN WE ASKED HOW DO WE DO THAT SHE SAID ITS NON REFUNDABLE DISPITE THE FACT THAT SHES TELLING PEOPLE TO REQUEST ( SHE THEN SAID HER BOSS TOLD HER TO SAY THAT) ECN THO THEY KNEW IT WAS NON REFUNDABLE. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO A PARTY HERE ALL THEY WANT IS MONEY AND THEY DONT CARE. PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT TICKETS COULDNT GET IN BECAUSE THEIR NAMES WASNT ON THE LIST DISPITE THEM SHOWING PROOOF THE TICKETS WERE PURCHASED IT WAS A HOT MESS ON OCT 31 SMH. THEY WAY THEY WERE ALSO SHOUTING AT PEOPLE LIKE ANIMALS SMH NEVER AGAIN
So I went out last night to check out the salsa night at Taj and it was extremely loud. The acoustics of the music were not matching the amplitude of what the room can handle and it felt like my eardrums were going to burst and that I needed to bring earplugs. The dancing was nice and fun and as usual it was crowded. Dont expect to get any type of good wine here, all their wine is cheap and tastes like grape juice. Sure youre getting a local 2017 Cabernet. The food is nothing special and takes one hour to arrive along with drinks on a Monday night.
If I could give this place less stars, I would. My mother in law had her birthday event there last night and I must say the staff is extremely rude! First off we got there 30 minutes before the event started and the doorman told us they wont even be starting on time because they werent ready setting up. Second, my aunt and I were going in and didnt have cash for coat check(only except cash) so we asked to let us find family inside to lend us cash. The doorman whose name is apparently shaq was refusing to let us in and even started arguing with my aunt. Thirdly, at the end of the night while we were waiting for our ride to get outside that same guy was rushing us and had a very terrible attitude as we were trying to explain to him that my grandmother is an older woman and needs a bit more time to get up. He then started to get very upset and was still rushing her. My fiance and his brother calmly tried to tell him to relax.... one thing led to another and this man when in the back grabbed his backpack pulled something out his bag put gloves on and was waiting outside to fight. I must say that all the staff there did absolutely nothing to try to stop him. Never will I ever recommend this place because of how rude and disrespectful that man was, also how terrible management was or whoever was working that night handled the entire situation and failed to calm that man down. How he has a job there I dont know. That just says a lot about the place itself.
On the night my wife and i went, we were celebrating a friend’s sister-in-law’s birthday. Some of the clientele showed up in tees and shorts, sneakers and jogging suits. We felt underdressed coming from work in our casual work wear, but were soon skeptical of the dress code. WE quickly wondered about if we thought we made a mistake coming.Boy, were we wrong. The music was banging, the drinks were not too-watered down, and the atmosphere buzzed with the old-school feel of people just wanting to dance and have a good time. We had a good time despite our misgivings, and left nicely buzzed and sweaty from dancing.Thank you.
Very unprofessional atmosphere. We had a reservation for 8 oclock for dinner and was told we had to leave after , because the club starts at 10:30. We then booked a VIP for $500 that only can seat four people so your other party had to stand outside the VIP section. Then the bouncers came over to my cousin asking her to put her shoes back on another ask her friend and then punch her in the face for not moving in a faster pace. This establishment is all about money more than their customers. VERY HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT!!
I recently visited Taj Lounge on July 27th. The heels rules you guys enforced was very selective to certain patrons including myself. When I entered they told me I had to coat check my flats before I entered the lounge. I simply obliged and paid for the coat which was weird but okay. After an hour and a half of partying my ankle started to hurt from and injury I suffered years ago. So now I proceeded to go get my flats and when I did the security was super aggressive about me not being able to get my flats after several times explaining my injury. Now I’m waiting by the bar a group of females entered which sneakers and flat shoes. So when I brought it up to security he said its not up to his discretion and when I asked who decision its based on he said nobodies. This automatically turned me off and I left. Because how do you enforced rules on certain people and not others especially if I’m paying for drinks and hookah at your establishment. Only reason you are receiving 1 star is because I liked the music selection there.
Nice little hang out spot. Great music. Go early. Always enjoyed myself. Mix crowd. Little sitting area. Small dance floor. Usually a line to get in after 10pm. They have drink specials for the early guest. Use parking lot! No street parking after 11pm you will be ticketed and towed! Close to buses and subway.
The crowd was cool but the staff could not keep up with the Friday night crowd. I came for a birthday party and the person who answers the phone was super rude when asked about the dress code. I went to the club anyway and saw everyone dressed comfortably which was fine with me but that was not what I was told. Then, once in the club, all the tables had dirty dishes on them and the bus boy came by to clean tables a little at a time and also was running food from the kitchen. I had to find a menu which was under the dishes, run the waitress down for a glass of water which I never received, and run after the waitress to order a drink and to receive my debit card back after payment. I would not go back. I live in the Bronx and rather go somewhere in Harlem or the Bronx than downtown Chelsea...
I was supposed to have a party here for my bachelorette weekend and made reservations/plans ahead of time. The promoter told us our section included 12 people but when we arrived, we were told we could only get 10 people in so we had to pay for the others (strike 1). Once we got in the club and to our section, we were not happy because they tried to put us in a corner upstairs by the bar that only had seating for 5/12 people and told us we would have to pay an additional $300 to sit downstairs in a better section (strike 2). The final strike was when we had to stand at “our section” for 10 minutes before the “host” was able to move the group sitting in our section. Luckily, for me and my friends, the credit card I gave them was declined about 5 minutes after this debacle due to fraud protection so we were able to leave and go to another club. We lost our $100 deposit but we didn’t care and went to rooftop 760 and got a section with ease. Please do not waste your time here.
I went tonight, February 9th, 2020! DJ Cosi and Marc Smooth were super awesome. The theme was 90s vs. 00s! All the mysic was great! The crowd was mature and great! These djs seem to always attract a mature, fun loving crowd! I appreciate them so much. I felt super safe. Taj 2 had good food and drink. The waitress was super nice and on point. I would love to go back if those djs are going to be there.
Love heading there on Saturday nights. Great ambiance with great music, the DJs know what theyre doing, drinks are too weak in my opinion. Cover charge is a bit excessive when trying to attend on a late night, me and my friends were forced to open a bar tap of $100 with separate charges for admission. Then again thats about every club in NYC. The only difference is that it doesnt always worth it but when it comes to this place... It always worth the ambiance.
I dont go out often, but when I do I love to be in environment and where the party is. I went here to celebrate a engagement and I had the time of my life. What surprised me is that even though the place was packed, it never seemed crowed. Please of room to dance and socialize without people bumping into you. Definitely will go again.
I came here for the weekly, Monday night free Salsa dance event. The establishment is relatively small even though there are two levels. There was live Latino music on that night and the dance instructor provided instructions for 30-45 min. I would recommend everyone come check this place out for the salsa dance events.
For my first time being there im disappointed. Did an open tab to avoid long line and still waited a long time to get in due to mandatory coat check. On my way out the club the bouncer decided to argue about something irrelevant then hit me in the face. No way is it ok for a man to put hands on a women so that was handled poorly. I called to speak to someone about this so it doesnt happen again but still havent heard anything. I will not visit this place anymore nor will i recommend it. Drinks are over priced and staff unprofessional.
So we went to a sponsored event at this venue. The Capricorn Party on December 27th. The layout and decor are stylish and contemporary. There are tables for dining, niches with seating, an upper level, a bar and small dance floor. The crowd was supposed to be grown and sexy... And there was a featured performance by Joyce Sims which was somewhat entertaining. Other than that the music was garbage, I guess DJ Marley Marl wasnt feeling up to snuff. It seems we missed DJ Qua (sp). We were told he played his set early in mix...no pun intended. There was a $20 cover, cash only though when calling ahead we were assured credit/atm cards were accepted. We paid the cash cover charge and inquired about the bar and again were assured that cards were accepted. My friend and I attempted to purchase and imbibe some spirits, she a Cosmo while ordered a Perfect Manhattan. The mixologist commenced to prepare, then present our drinks. When we pulled out our cards to pay for our martinis, he mentioned that we needed to spend at least $20 to use our cards. He then attempted to add water to each tab or to have both drinks billed to one card. The gall...Boy Bye!!!! Mind you the drinks we $17 each and we both were more than willing to tip. He then insisted that since he prepared the drinks we would need to pay on one card....negative. We requested a manager waited several minutes and of course no one appeared. Talk about a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Heres the gag. For one, we would have each definitely ordered more than one cocktail, tipped LOVELY, and the drinks which were already prepared and sipped from went to waste. This was a lose, lose situation for the establishment. But we stand by principle. Ive frequented and frequent many venues in the city, quite a few high brow in fact. Never have I experienced a scenario like this. Its a no for me, I would definitely not support nor recommend Taj II Lounge. Overall experience was underwhelming and negative.
We celebrated, my sisters 29th birthday here in December. The VIP was alright, thanks to the security guards for keeping the Rachets out. The DJ was great, kept us dancing all night. Plus he shouted out my sisters name the entire time, so she felted very special. Thanks for a great night!
I came for my god sisters birthday and after 2 hours they kicked everyone out of the section after buying 5 bottles saying we didn’t pay the minimum and that they were going to use he section for someone else while she was in the bathroom. The waitress did not give me a chance to get my god sister out of the bathroom to inform her of the circumstance in order to see if she actually would pay the minimum. Instead she literally cleared our table after making a false agreement to wait for my god sisters response, and removed the all the hookah that was bought and called security to escort us out of the section. I have never been disrespected or endured such a service at a lounge or any type of establishment. It was just not good business and was very disturbing. The experience should have been a positive and fun celebration of more life, but instead it turned out to be a major let down. The positive thing about the experience however, was that the music was great and we made the most of it.
Had a beautiful time last nite here for my birthday. I was supposed to have a package deal but wound up not doing it, and the manager Daria was soooo accommodating to me very nice person!! Club was excellent dj played goood music all night long, the ambience was beautiful, and the crowd was cool. I definitely enjoyed my birthday celebration!!!
Went there for a party that was advertised to start at 10, but they booked a different event there and didnt start letting people in until 11:30ish. Very strict security at the door for dress code and things you cant bring in, mandatory coat check, and security running through the party with flashlights all night looking for girls with their shoes off 🙄 completely killing the vibe.
This venue holds the line to look attractive in 15 degree weather. Disrespectful. Its not summertime. The short asian door guy is a dick, very rude. Your personal playlist is better than the DJ. The two stars should be 1.5 but it looks nice inside and is a safe environment. I would not recommend this for a party of people due to too many inconveniences it would not be a smooth transition into that club when out on the town.
My family and I had the pleasure of working within the Taj lounge event space for my grandmothers surprise birthday. The 5 stars is definitely for the level of customer service I experience while working with Marilyn Castro the event coordinator. As with any event such as a surprise party there are always moments of worrying and concern but the entire team helped alleviate those concerns by always being positive and attentive. During the days leading up to the event they were available via text or email to answer any questions we had or make last minute adjustments. We had technical difficulties and schedule changes on our end but Daria and Marilyn made sure to help in any way they could. My grandmother as well as the guests enjoyed themselves so much that after a week they are still talking about it! We will always be grateful for the team at Taj for making this event one to remember!
Went last night for Latin Monday’s through Meet-up. Meet-Up Confirmation said $8 till 8 pm. Got there before 8pm and hostess said it was $11. I showed her my Meet-up confirmation and she said “I don’t care what it says I work here and I’m telling you it’s 730 pm. She got progressively ruder and ruder and totally turned me off to the place. You should think about having somebody nice at the door to greet people and someone who knows how to talk to people. Sorry I didn’t get her name!!!
Been to this establishment twice and both times it was a good experience. I called ahead and asked questions and they were answered with politeness. Turns out, it was the manager! She made sure me and my cousin were taken care of when we arrived and checked on me during our time there. I highly recommend this place and I just might have a birthday party there.
Had a very good time however was pissed off when the DJ cut the song Let it Rain right in the middle of the song. Did not blend it in with something else but just cut the song. But besides that i enjoyed myself . Have not been to the taj for quite a long time. Oh yeah the frozen drinks that look like a straw berry daiquiri was delicious.
The ambiance on Saturdays is fun. The music is a mix of afrobeats, socca, dancehall, and hip hop. Just be prepared to spend some cash. My friend and I got there after midnight and we paid $30 each. We were lucky we only had small crossbody purses. Apparently some items must be checked in and the coat check is pricey; $5 per item I believe. There are pretty strict with the dress code and you must keep you shoes (heels!) on at all time. There is a $20 minimum charge on all credit/debit cards and gratuity is already included. I had a lot of fun with my friend, but I think this place is doing the most when there are other places in the city where you can have even more fun and spend less money. I do not believe I will return.

2022-04-04I been to TAJ about 5 times now, its a very nice Lounge with a live DJ playing good old school, hip hop, Spanish and latest music with a decent size dance floor to get your dance on. The food is good and drinks are strong. Took my family here which are from Tennessee they loved it.

2022-06-13I produced the SMPS-NY Liberty Ball & Annual Meeting at Taj II, and following the event Ive received such wonderful comments and accolades about the entire evening -- from the space, the food, the service to the overall vibe and flow of the night. We could not have asked for a more perfect event for our members and guests. Special kudos go out to Christoper and Mitch as well as Temi, Ashley, and Courtney. We will definitely hold another event here in the future. **Photo by FRAME

2022-03-18Love Love this place. I havent been to Taj in years. I went to the Melanin and Mimosas brunch last Saturday and boyyyyy what a great time we had. The DJ left no room to sit. I mean tune after tune. The food and Mimosas was great but, those tunes Fiyah Fiyah. It was definitely a time to remember. Ill be going back because the atmosphere too good.

2021-07-26Me and the girls came out to hang. When I arrived I parked in a reserved spot. I walked in and the security coming in was great. I found my girls and we were served by Kenny and he did his best. The drinks were good but the problem we ran into was one of the security guards was acting weird. I told him when our time was up we had another table to go to but he insisted on throwing our drinks away and was kicking us out of the table as if we were resisting. I dont remember his name but he had small dreads and he was terrible. The music was good and Kenny was good but security at the end was terrible.

2022-05-23I held my daughters Bat Mitzvah at this venue last weekend (5/21/22). It exceeded expectations on all fronts. The manager, Chris, is truly incredible. He goes out of his way to make sure that everything runs smoothly. He genuinely wants you to have an amazing party. He pays attention to detail and then remembers though details. He is also just very kind. During the party, one girl got ill, and he helped her call her mom and waited outside for the mom to pick her up! He also helped my elderly aunt get into a taxi and waited outside with her as well. Chris is incredibly flexible and does not nickel and dime you for every little thing. The venue is beautiful and very cool. We did both the ceremony and the reception there. Everything went so smoothly. The food is delicious too. I cant say enough good things about this venue and I would definitely choose it again for another party.

2022-05-23Their focus is on making money from admissions, but they have a small menu for dinner. I like that they have fewer menu choices, but they have perfected those choices, and they are all done well. There is something for everyone and even their burger is delicious. Go for the Salsa dance lesson and live band (most nights, but not all) on Monday night.... always fun.

2022-06-26Last night was my first time coming to this club because I heard so it was a nice place to go to. I ended up coming with a group of friends (all girls). Once we were close to the front of the line I simply asked one of the bouncers if I could use the bathroom. He was extremely rude, loud and seemed as if he had a hard time comprehending the words that I was trying to say. Although it was a simple question that needed an answer (yes or no). The bouncers there in general had attitudes. Last time I checked only woman have there periods every month. I’m not sure who is the hiring manager but I would suggest getting new and professional bouncers.
