The tea is good but they simply have no idea how to make it into bubble tea. I ask for no ice doesn’t mean cool-down tea does the work. You still need to put ice and shake and pour the ice out bro. The bubble sucks, I’m very disappointed with the carelessness despite the decent 913 king’s tea. It’s a far inferior version of the Taiwanese shops, should get some training in Taiwan.
This is my second time trying out ten ren. I love bubble tea, and I’m very picky when it comes to bubble tea. I was a bit hesitant with the fact they make their bubble teas out of real tea leaves, because it could make it more bitter. I ordered the jasmine green tea, and once I tried it, it tasted really good. You could taste the green tea right away. I was very satisfied with the drink, and so I went another time and tried the black tea. That was great as well, and I would go with the black tea. The chinatown location is more expensive than the brooklyn location however, which makes more sense, but overall, I would definitely go back if I pass by it again.
I LOVE TEN REN.I used to always go their 8ave location back when I lived in Brooklyn, but unfortunately, that location is now closed.. but I know they have this location in the heart of China Town (Canal Street). I live in S.I. now, but I will always make the trip out to here just for their delicious bubble tea & macaroons!! (PISTACHIO FLAVOR IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!)HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Please dont ever close this location. It will break my heart :(
By far the worst bubble tea I have ever tried - and I have tried a lot. The black tea flavour was way too strong&bitter and I had to ask for extra milk. The pearls are way too sweet and the herbal jelly has no flavour.Definitely skip this place - there are plenty of better options around without a minimum card requirement and a drink you will actually consume
It is a great tea house. You can get classic tea, milk tea, bubble tea, iced tea, Thai tea, etc. You can select the amount of sugar, ice, and hot/iced. They make their drinks using the real tea and fresh ingredients. I ordered the taro milk tea with red bean. I saw the staff blending the steamed taro and mixing it with the green tea. The red bean is slightly blended. You can still feel the texture. Everyone is friendly at the store. They have some seats here. If you come with a group, you can sit at the back corner which is rare in a Chinatown tea house.
Probably the worst bubble tea I’ve had in a long time around the world. Ordered the black tea milk tea and Thai milk tea and both were awful. The Thai milk tea in particular tastes like water even with 50% sugar and they use cooking milk to make it. The tapioca pearls / boba are overwhelmingly sweet and had a crunchy texture. There are a lot of other choices nearby that are both better and cheaper, and I would suggest avoiding this shop.
They use good quality teas leaves for their bubble tea vs powders. Their staff was really friendly and accommodating. The kids were not use to the stronger flavor of their bubble tea, they gave us some extra milk to help dilute the drink a little. It helped 👍. Also for the amount of people waiting in line they were very quick in turning drinks around.
There are not many quality bubble tea places in the area, so this place is definitely one of the better places. A cup of bubble tea is a little less than $4, which is a bit pricey. But, they have a larger and a cleaner space for you to hang out. Come here to have more authentic bubble tea!
The service is not good st all. First, the cashier look down upon the one who just bought less than $10, and expressed the hatred. And then the staff who made the milk tea overloaded the tea which spill out of the cup, but he did not even clean it up. We have ordered the milk tea without ice, however, we could see at least 4 pieces of ice in it. Whatever, I still expected the real black tea tease which disappointing me a lot. It was not much difference between powder milk tea and this. I’m not sure how can it survived with all these. If there is a choice for ZERO star, I would love to give one.
They offer an array of flavors to choose from, hot and cold beverages. You can taste the tea in the drinks and its pretty refreshing. They have a small seating area, so its really not meant for large groups, but its a nice little place for 2 or 3 friends to sit and chat. Unfortunately, they dont have a restroom for customers, so you cant drink too much!
I had my very first bubble tea here at Ten Ren Tea Time. Sadly, the quality just isnt the same as before. The tea selection is meh. Still, they have a few signature and unique tea drinks like the Eastern Beauty tea, or the ginseng tea. These two are my favorite and cannot get from anywhere else. I guess its something you can only get from an authentic tea place that imports tea leafs. I cant said much about their food (yes they do have them) since I havent ordered any there.
This place honestly has the best tea you will find in either Chinatown or Flushing. What is great about this bubble tea shop in general is their commitment to bubble tea. Their tea is not made with powder or pure sugar, but with real tea herbs and juice from fruits. It tastes natural and great.
Went in looking for good quality loose leaf tea. Well we found some. But it was poorly labeled, we couldnt try any before we bought and the worst part was the woman who helped us was extremely, and I mean off-puttingly rude. It was as if we had walked in to her personal house uninvited. We walked in excited to spend possibly a couple hundred dollars on tea and left with just a little bag because of this horrible sales woman. Cant speak about their bubble tea place next door. Certainly will not be going back any time soon.
I used to go to ten ren a lot when it was the only good option in Chinatown. Flavors are still good, prices are in line with places like yifang, the cup is terrible (flimsy paper cup with detachable lid - cant see the bubbles, cup gets squeezed easily). Has some seating, which is a big plus for bubble tea places. Credit card for purchases $10+
I order medium matcha slush. The taste is too light. I can taste just a bit of green tea. I think they put too much ice when they make it. That why i cant taste any milk or sweet at all. They use spoon to take the drink from blender to a cup. That mean it s too thick by ice. And after they put a drink in to a cup. It still has a lot of drink in the blender. Im not sure the the employee taste that drink or not that is not tasty at all. It will be much better if the take off half of ice before they blend it. Bubble is ok.
Excellent bubble tea. Some of the best in the city, in fact. Wound up here accidentally while waiting to meet friends at Bassanova Ramen. Had the cold Thai milk tea and will definitely be back to try others on their menu, as there were many options to try! Appreciated the ample supply of outlets to charge my phone while I waited.
Their plum flavor is infamous. Try it out if they still even offer it; it is the worst. Imagine dirty laundry water. It didnt taste anything remotely like plum, let alone an edible fruit. Otherwise, their strawberry has chunks of real strawberry and most of the other options are great.
The tea is OK, kind of average. The staff is not interested at all in good customer service. I ordered, didnt hear anyone call my number, and was left standing like an idiot, waiting. I asked one employee, and she ignored me. Finally after leaving me standing for five minutes, someone realized there was an unclaimed tea. No apology.
This place is new and renovated, allowing you to enjoy your bubble tea in some really cool lounge chairs. A tea cafe that plays top forty music on a loop. Revamped to be hip and popular among teens, adults, locals and tourists alike. The quality of the tea is good, the tapioca pearls are also pretty good and the seating makes for an inviting place to chat.
An excellent assortment of teas that you might have tasted at Ten Rens Tea Time just down the block. They also carry some lovely sets of tea cups and pots. However, this is not where you buy their drinks, this is where you buy tea making supplies, just to dispel any confusion.
I love Ten Ren’s tea but the service was terrible. The guy who was working here on Monday afternoon was extremely rude to me and did not allow me to use the bathroom (he physically blocked me from entering the bathroom and refused to let me in - I told him I would buy something after I used the bathroom but he didn’t believe me). I’ve bought many teas from Ten Ren both in Taiwan and in NYC, but this experience was really bad and honestly an unfortunate to know Ten Ren treats their customers like this.
A cup of milk tea (or normal tea drink) emphasizes the quality of the tea, but the selection is not as good as Hong Kong. My favorite Ten Ren milk tea in Hong Kong is the 913 bubble milk tea (I highly recommend it to anyone visiting HK), but this location only offers it hot without bubbles or milk. More expensive than your average cup of bubble tea.
I was thrilled to discover that TeaRen, my favorite tea shop for over 20 years, now has a place to get drinks and snacks. I ordered an iced chocolate mint boba tea and it was perfect, but I also could have ordered my beloved jasmine green with boba, which is the tea I have been buying from them to make at home for 20 years.I made made a video of my experience and if it is not already on my YouTube channel, it will be soon.
The service is prompt, but the drink quality varies. Staffed by late high school or college students. Its modern and clean. While the seating is limited there is one large share table for a group few two seat-ers in the back and front.I only go to Ten-Ren for actual REAL tea bubble tea, thankfully they dont offer that powder tea mix like most bubble tea shops. With that said - aside from the teas, all the other flavors are powder (i.e. Taro) or fruit sugar syrups. They also sell snack items prepackaged and made to order small bites. Tea accessories and teabags are also sold here. (FYI, the full fledge Ten Ren tea store is literally right next store.)
Best bubble (tapioca pearls) tea house ever! Come on in for a drink. If you like tea, then you will like Ten Rens Tea. Sweet tea in a whole new way! Watch as you are served with one of the finest tea ever, since they use real tea leaves to make most of their drinks. Cant get enough, Ten Rens tea shop is just right next door, so if you like what you drink, you might want to consider buying a bag of tea leaves to make your own tea, sweet or unsweetened. For those who dont know, tea is good for you...tea is life! Lifes good with tea!
Ten Ren never disappoint even in NYC!I stumbled upon this tea house after eating at Joes Shanghai. The honey green tea with boba was perfect to cool down on a rather warm day in New York City. The boba tasted fresh and had a nice chewy texture just how I like. The shop is clean and neat. There are a few tables in the back but no restroom.
This place is a five minute walk from me, and I used to come here religiously. However, all of my favorite workers left and the quality of the tea has gone down so I dont come here very often. The drinks are very diluted, so I would not pay $5 for something so similar to water.
The gold standard in bubble tea, only CoCo, Quicklys, and Kung-Du Tea compares but fall short. If anything, they are always reliable and always busy. They have reasonable amount of seating but often occupied due to being constantly busy. There isnt a bad choice on the menu, and the tapioca is remarkably consistent all the time.
This is the OG bubble tea shop for me. At the dawn of the century, I come and grab a green apple slush tea and then spend the rest of my afternoon playing Street Fighter at Chinatown Fair.Sadly, it is no longer 2000 and maybe its them, maybe its me.. but its not the same. Nothing tastes quite right. I definitely have moved on from green apple slushes but I dont know, its just sort of meh. They did something to the bubbles -- I either get an over or undercooked batch whenever I go. But I keep going. Nostalgia is a funny thing.Stick with a Milk Tea.
High hope and got disappointed. I have had much better Ten Ren than what this location had provided. Always a lover for Ten Ren but wont be coming back to this one particularly... or maybe not when its crowded... cashier was not the most pleasant to interact with. Ill come back to try one more time maybe
Before there was Cha Time, Kung Fu Tea, and all those other trendy bubble tea shops, there was Ten Ren. I still believe Ten Ren makes the best bubble tea. They have a specialty tea shop! Celebrities like Lisa Ling and Tyrese have been here and Ten Ren makes the best slushes!
Dishonest sales representative!!!!! I ordered a 1.5 lb of loose tealeaf, and was charged the price for that amount. The sales woman sealed the bag while I was not looking. I only realized the bag was merely over 1 pound (1.08 lb with package on) when I re-weighted the package at home.Never going back again.
The employees were absolutely amazing, Very clean place and my girlfriend had a little problem with her drink not being sweet enough and one of the employees made her a new one without a problem and was very kind about it! I believe his name was Eric, thank you very much!

2022-07-07I used to buy so many cases of their Jasmine Tea and my customers love the jasmine aroma so much. However, I bought 3 cases from their Flushing store, no jasmine aroma coming out of the tea anymore so I called the store and the lady on the phone literally just told me:”If you don’t like it, don’t buy it from us, I have another customer to take care of.”” What a customer service after I went there for almost five years for the same tea for my restaurant. Very disappointing.

2022-03-30The tea selection here is pretty incredible! So many great selections. So many medicinal teas. I bought some pu-ehr. But this may be a cultural thing but the customer service here is awful. I realize that because of Covid you don’t allow people to smell your teas but no one, including some workers were not wearing masks. So I asked to smell my tea. I only wanted some put on my hands, crush it and smell that it was the real thing. I think that is reasonable to ask. But the lady taking care of us was so rude. Maybe a cultural thing but I didn’t like it.

2021-10-11The drink was ok, while I ordered a boba I thought that it was going to be the plastic cup, you know for the photo hahaha but I would like to give props to the cashier guy that was in a very great mood and happy :)

2022-06-16If you want to know the most authentic tea’s, this is the only place in NYC that can give you the experience. I’m not referring to the bubble tea store. I’m talking about the tea shop right next door - Ten Ren Tea House.

2021-04-04This is one of my favorite bubble tea places in Taiwan because of the variety of teas they have. I got the kings milk tea with less sugar and less ice no boba. The drink came out room temperature with no ice in it at all, sugar level tasted like 30% instead of 70%, the tea and milk ratio was bad (too much tea not enough milk) tasted very watery. I had to add 2 more packs of sugar in it myself to make it taste somewhat better. Overall pretty disappointed, its pretty bad compare to the same drink I had in Taiwan.

2018-04-07Great bubble tea store, really enjoyed my mango bubble tea. The store looks really pretty, great interior, very neat and clean. Prices are reasonable and the service was fast. They have a lot of other products like tea leaves and macaron.

2018-06-09Best bubble tea in chinatown! you can tell they use quality ingredients because the second you walk inside you can smell tea leaves— and the taste of their drinks proves it. you can also adjust sugar level, ice level, and add in other ingredients like grass jelly. don’t forget to pick up a punch card when you go because you’ll definitely want to come back!
