Attended an event and stayed for the night . Beautiful building and the food was very tasty. The whole staff made us feel at home. Special thanks to Yenny from the front desk and Cassandra for all the amazing service and attention to detail. Wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended!!!
Stayed at Mansion at Glen Cove and the weekend was exceptional. The staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. The party was great and the organization from the part of the staff was excellent. When I needed assistance with work related things, Yenny, the front office manager went above and beyond to help me out printing some work documents that I needed that morning.Cassandra, Mike, chef Rodrigo and all the wait staff made the party amazing. From the food, the drinks and overall attention to all the guests.Thank you all for a great experience!AJ
Beautiful hotel and beautiful area. Nice grounds to walk around. Buildings that arent the Mansion part are really boring and some areas need some tlc (like the atriums). You do not get to really explore the mansion or anything. Kind of disappointing. Wished they told us the pool closed early on Sundays. Lots of weddings on weekends and those were pretty noisy impacting us a bit. The breakfast was a really sad grab and go; truly expected more from this type of venue.
So disappointed and dissatisfied. The price for the room was not worth it. It was poorly designed and layout. The bathroom sink was cracked, the tiles were chipped and they were water stains in the ceiling. The Mansion is falling apart. The doors are broken, dirty and it seems like everything is being patched and not fixed. The price for this place is not worth it. It’s sad.5🌟 to Roxan at the restaurant. She was awesome and made my stay a little comforting.
For anyone looking for a high quality experience, this is rather not the place. Beautiful main building (not very well maintained though, which is sad), rooms okay, reception rather unfriendly! Would rather just drive by and have a quick walk through there. Yet prices – which surprised us – are very low compared to other places on long island...
We have been coming to the Glen Cove Mansion for many years and it has never looked better! What a unique and fantastic location for a wedding or any kind of event. They have a hotel, swimming pool, upstairs hidden bar lounge and don’t forget about the bowling alley in the basement. Love this place!
We just had our daughters wedding at The Mansion at Glen Cove on May 29th and it did not disappoint! The weather was perfect and we had an outside ceremony on the patio with a cocktail hour around the pool. It was magical. The reception continued on in the ballroom and the after party was in the Embassy Room. Everything was handled with care and expertise due to three key people- Astrid, our event manager who hand held us the entire day, Mike, the maitre d who ran the party seamlessly and Luis who ran the front desk and helped us with all our hotel needs. The mansion was ours from early morning where the bridesmaids got ready in the bridal suite and the groomsmen in the suite down the hall, to the wee hours of the night where our guests danced the night away.Astrid handled every detail with the utmost professionalism, and kept me calm when needed. Mike was extremely hands on with every aspect of the wedding and consulted with me on every detail right up until the start of the party. He made sure to bring me into the ballroom as soon as it was set up and honored any request we had from start to finish. I also have to give a shout out to the chef. The dinner was amazing! Luis was very attentive with running the hotel desk and helped us with all our guests needs.I highly recommend The Mansion at Glen Cove!
Absolutely fantastic. I booked a block of rooms for a film company I work for because our crew needed rooms for a few nights. The Front Office Manager, Yenny, was able to help me do absolutely everything from getting me an amazing rate, great service, and booking etc. She was extremely helpful and always answered my questions no matter the time. Excellent service and very hard-working, will definitely be booking again thanks to Yenny!-Francesco
Currently staying here (June 2022) as the wedding we are attending this weekend negotiated the block of rooms for guests here (note, the wedding is not being held here). First, they didnt honor the negotiated room rate. Thankfully we were chatting with the maid of honor and she caught this on our and several other rooms and handled it with management.THIS PLACE IS A PATHETIC! What could and should be a luxurious, beautiful historic venue is more on par with a Motel 6 with some lipstick on the pig touches that try to make it look more than it is. For example, a nice headboard and newer wood-looking flooring in the premium king room, with cheap, old nightstands, an end table that is warped, drapes that dont fully cover the width of the windows to block out the sun, but that are long and cover the A/C vent if closed properly so we had to tuck them on the windowsill. No dresser in the room. Refrigerator just plooped under the TV.Then there is the staff. They say they will do something but dont. And then when asked again they think it is no big deal. Outlet in bathroom didnt work, said they would fix it and didnt. Promised a microwave in room upon check in, nope wasnt there. Email received a few weeks before arrival about the pool being closed sporadically during our stay for private parties and a welcome drink upon arrival as an accomodation. You guessed it, no mention or offer of a drink. And the noise from the hallway. Every footstep and conversation can be heard as people walk by the room. And people are loud, especially late at night as they go to their rooms. The hotel staff obviously cant control the rudeness of other guests, but they can control the soundproofing materials used, instead, just cheap stuff.**ADDITION** on Saturday late afternoon as we left the property, there was a wedding even table stacked with glasses in the middle of the foyer. In addition to having to manuever a wheelchair around that obstacle, they were doing a huge wedding party photo shoot in the lobby. Saying excuse me didnt work so we had to push through. Then on our last night (Sunday) in this property, they had what appeared to be several events, one a huge wedding or bar/bat mitzvah. Food spilt and broken glass in the hallways when we came in about 9 pm. Around 10:30-10:45 pm there was a stampede of people loudly walking and talking down the hall, so of course we could hear everything. Then it sounded like carts or tables being rolled down the hall. At 11:15 pm, we could hear the music and shouts above the TV in the neighbors room (we knocked on their door and they kindly turned it down). I called the front desk and was informed there was an after party in the billards/lounge area that would go on to 12:30 am. The lady said shed ask them to quiet things down, which they did. HOWEVER this was just one more example of how you can hear EVERYTHING in the room.Bottom line, everything is worn and tired. No renovations in progress that we could see. Staff seems to care about and cater only to the people who are there for events and the hotel guests are a distant afterthought. What a huge disappointment this property is. DO NOT waste your money here, especially if youre expecting something nice, historic, and upscale.
Its a beautiful place! We want to give special recognition to Luis Benitez and Mrs. Yenny Nieto - they made sure all of our needs were met! They were kind and very professional and knowledgeable - they are a great asset to the beautiful Mansion at Glen Cove. Thank you so much!
Went there for a pool day last summer. After we set up on chairs and all I was like … something is off. There was a machine inside a pool, cleaning it and workers were acting as they are preparing for something. We learned the pool is there but we cannot go inside because they don’t have a lifeguard. Lol so I’m like when will it be open because we came here for the pool… there was no answers. Food was trash. Nobody cared about the customer. We were not offered money back or credit for another time. Of course I disputed it with my credit card but never going again!
This hotel seems to be the victim of some questionable decisions decades ago. The mansion itself is a beautiful and well-maintained 1910 Gregorian home, carefully renovated for reuse as an events facility. The mansion itself has kept much of its old-world charm, and the local Gatsby-like flavor despite the inclusion of modern amenities. However, the Mansion itself is not where youll be sleeping. The hotel rooms are in an adjoining set of buildings built in the 1980s and built in the then-modern architectural style. The result is a building that on the outside is brown and boxy, and that carries a rather institutional feel. The contrast between the exteriors of the Mansion and the hotel buildings could not be more stark. The inside of the hotel building is better than the outside. The hallways are elegantly appointed and clean (though, theres a conspicuous lack of artwork on the walls and some of the carpet is visibly due for replacement). The rooms are tired (visible wear on some of the upholstery), but very clean. Also, the water pressure in the shower was wonderfully strong and merits a star all on its own.We woke up to discover our snacks had become swarmed with ants, but reception handled the situation very well--providing a discount, calling an exterminator, and offering another room without any specific prompting. We did not experience the spa, food services, or event spaces other than wandering around the property.I dont expect to return, but also would not object if the opportunity arose.
I read the varying responses to your request for reviews and got a little worried. I dont know why some people wrote what they did or what they were expecting but our stay was nothing but excellent. Maybe these people writing these less than excellent reviews expect their world to revolve around them and maybe they expect everything in their world to be perfect. I come from the real world where most things arent perfect and where people try hard but sometimes dont succeed. Those are my kind of people. We drove up to the front door and were pleasantly surprised how well the grounds looked. Everything was neat and well groomed. Inside was clean, neat and the staff was very well mannered. Our room was comfortable, clean and warm. The shower was hot and the towels were neatly folded. The only thing the room needed were directions on how to work the darn TV. We will be back.
Rest of an aristocrat. Luxury, convenience at an affordable price. Spirit of history. Beautiful and warm room in winter. Hot sauna and spa, swimming pool. A fun game of billiards. Lots of nice places to take photos. Rest is amazing. Satisfied, Ill be back. Thanks to all!
Ugh. What a disappointment. I booked this hotel thinking it would be a unique, beautiful getaway for my husband and I. The building itself is beautiful but it is run down. Weeds growing from the gutters, missing shutters, chipping paint. The website makes you think you are staying in a beautiful room but you might as well stay at the Comfort Inn down the road. Our first room was literally in a basement in a building outside of the mansion. I complained and got a slightly better room. The rooms are boring and dingy. The indoor pool was open but it was a greenish color and they were out of towels. The hot tub was out of service. The elevators were out of service. This place could be a TEN but it needs a million dollars worth of renovations and upkeep! What a shame.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The bellhops were great: Joshua and Isaac. Really nice young men. Everyone at front desk were so helpful and everyone else was so pleasant. The event I was there was so beautiful. The atmosphere and food was amazing . Had a wonderful time
One of my best buds had his wedding here and I was truly impressed with everything. It was all so smooth and straightforward. Angelica the coordinator was incredible, she was extremely punctual and on top of everything. Ive been apart of numerous weddings and was in the bridal party for quite a few and as we all know, theres always something happening or stressful situations that happen throughout the night. Not many weddings go without ANY sort of hiccup, but the mansion really handled everything and set it up for success. The place was beautiful and has some history to it, which adds some nice character. Unlike some other generic places. I highly recommend the mansion. If youre looking for book any upcoming events/partys, go check it out and ask for Angelica.
Thank U for contacting me. Waiting in my van was not the issue! We were made to back down the very long driveway w/at least 10 cars behind me, causing a traffic jam out on the street. My VIP friend had to get out of my van run down the driveway and directed traffic because his ride to the airport was blocking us from backing down the driveway!! This was insane.Your apology does not come close to addressing my concerns. This was way more than an inconvenience!! It was insulting and very disrespectful to me and my VIP friends. I was not allowed to drive 10 more yards form where I was to the front door so my passengers could get to there rooms, get there baggage get in there waiting ride to their flight. Your people held us captive and made us back down the driveway. This was Absurd and rude behavior. The some other concerns are what I had to deal with regarding misinformation that I was handed when I arrived. A print out of the phone #s of services available to me. Room service, Pool, Restaurant, etc. None of which where available. This was very misleading. I had to make 4 trips to the front desk from my room because the keys that they gave me did not work. When i finally got a key that worked the phone in my room did not work. I went back to the front desk again and asked for directions to the restaurant. Only then did I find out that there was not any place to get something to eat after my long 7 hr. drive from Virginia. Fabricating the truth to your patrons is not a good thing. The incident in the driveway the next day made my stay at your facility a horrendous! Your apology does nothing to ease my concerns. Someone owes my VIP friend a formal apology but U will never regain my trust. I personally am insulted and furious that You all put me such very comfortable situation.Do something other than apologize.
I visited my cousins around the area and happened to pass by this magnificent hotel, it was really a pleasing experience for me in a while. The renovated rooms looks elegant and the staff was extremely courteous and helpful, directing me the way to the rooms and carrying my luggages all the way to my room. Not to mention their outdoor pool, the view was nice, environment was relaxed, staff was accommodating and luckily, it was not packed. I literally stayed there for the whole day, enjoyed the sunshine and got some chilled drinks. The best thing is that it is complimentary for the hotel guests!! I just LOVE IT and will definitely come back again this summer.
Hi,I was there for a wedding for one night. Many problems with stay:1.) I called before my stay to change number of rooms and left message for return call--> no one called back. Had to call 3-4 times prior to getting anyone on phone2.) As I drove up to the hotel some random person had me stop at entrance and ask what I was doing there. I later found out this was someone who was hosting a pool party. Very weird to be greeted like this.3.) I came for check in. Waited 20-30 min in line to check in.4.) A/C did not work. Called to have it fixed. Still not working. Slept in hot room.5.) Shower head would not stay fixed so water just shot at ceiling or floor6.) Loud Pool party and barely dressed guests walking around property7.) No access to outdoor pool because of pool partyQuite honestly this was not a hotel but a Frat house. It was gross. I will not be staying here again. For your future guests I would work on improving this. I quickly looked up google reviews after my stay and found that these problems are not unique to me. Wish I had checked before.Mina Safain
This hotel is DISGUSTING!!!!! I asked to be switched from my first room to a second room and I was extremely disappointed with both rooms, but after the second room I felt that complaining to be moved to a third room would be pointless because they probably all look the same. The man at the desk said the rooms were newly renovated. He also said I would love the room and it had a garden view. This “garden view” consisted of a tree and a garbage can, maybe he said GARBAGE VIEW. This honest to God felt like I was staying in an old mental asylum. I have NEVER stayed somewhere so disgusting. I was here for a wedding and if the closest hotel wasn’t 20 minutes away, I would’ve walked out the door on day one. I didn’t even want to touch the bed. I’ve never been more disgusted. This is not a mansion, it’s a MOTEL. It was not worth $220 a night, it is not even worth $50 a night. I have stayed in hostels that were nicer than this “mansion.” I’ve been in college dorm rooms that were nicer than this. Please look at the dirty carpets, bubbling/chipped paint in the room and in the hallways, dirty walls, missing furniture, popped out ceiling tiles. I want a FULL refund. The website and the name “mansion” is complete misrepresentation and false advertisement.
I booked with the Glen Cove Mansion for my wedding block. My guests all booked premium or deluxe rooms, but most of them were given standard, outdated, disgusting ones. Almost everyone who booked a king room was given a double. My parents, instead of getting a premium king, got a standard double in a basement with no hot water, no AC. They tried to send my husband and I to a standard double room in the separate building (which they promised my guests would not be sent to and half of them were) when we had booked a premium king. We refused until they gave us a premium king, which had a lovely view of a dumpster. The rooms have no phones and ants.To top it off, we booked a farewell brunch. We worked with Melissa and Debbie to plan the entire thing. It took months and was a very stressful process. We sent a signed contract and credit card information to Melissa who told us we were all set. My dad even followed up to ask how much would be taken out as a deposit, to which he was told not sure yet but you are set. The morning after my wedding, we go down and there is NO BRUNCH!!!!! The front desk woman was so rude to me and my parents who were understandably livid. We called Debbie who said they never got a contract. We explained we sent it to Melissa who confirmed we were set. Her response was Melissa was no longer with the company so they never got it and assumed we canceled. If someone leaves the company, shouldnt you follow up on anything she was working on? PLUS we worked with Debbie too, so why would she ASSUME WE CANCELED when we had 25+ rooms still booked? It was an awful, embarrassing experience. They sent us $ for our inconvenience but barely even apologized and kept trying to blame Melissa. Its not our faut someone left. This place looks cool on the outside, but its run down, outdated, and customer service is horrific. 0 stars.
This is my first ever bad review and I hate to leave it. But I want to warn future brides or people interested in staying for a room block or for a wedding. Do not stay here! We had to postpone our wedding and the hotel was very accommodating at first. Until management kept switching. No one knew left from right. No one communicates. Trying to get in touch with people is horrible. Their phones do not work. We had to physically go there to talk to people. They do not know how to treat people with respect. We worked with one lady for a month via email/phone calls then when we showed up she said she didn’t know who we were. We were told the bar upstairs would be open for the after party where guests could pay cash bar for their drinks. Then they told us someone else was using it and then we had to pay 2,000 for a private room for the after party. When guests were arriving- they were shuffled from room to room before finally being able to stay in a room that was up to par. My brother had to go to 3 rooms before finally settling in then was running around like crazy trying to get ready because he lost so much time. Not one other part of my wedding caused me constant daily stress expect working with the Glen cove mansion. The only person to help and step in was Paul Acosta. Paul literally solved all our problems at the last minutes because he could see the hurt and frustration we dealt with for a year. I hope this place can clean up their act soon because the grounds really are beautiful. But if you want to save yourself tears and headaches- Go elsewhere.
So so sad! This place was amazing before new owners took over. Now its just a sad mess. The grounds and landscaping are not maintained. All the amazing historical value has been removed. No more pub on the top floor, the original building is being neglected, poor placement of an ATM outside by what should be a picturesque fountain, the list could go on. There is currently no place to get snacks or food outside of what are very limited dining options. No hot breakfast option, only overpriced poolside bar for lunch, 300 dollars to rent a cabana!!!! This new ownership needs a reality check! Cars being parked outside of hotel room windows on what should be nice grounds. Dont waste your money, lots of other great places to see and stay on Long Island. Im truly disappointed!
I had the pleasure of celebrating my 50th birthday at Glen Cove Mansion. My event was a brunch hosted in The Embassy room. It was simply amazing and well executed. The food was picturesque as well as delicious. Every detail was handled with care, which made my birthday brunch so memorable. Thank you Ashley for a job well done!
This hotel is like something out of The Shining. Its enormous but I believe there is one member of staff. Its a surreal ghost town. Want to speak to someone on the phone? Forget about it. Most numbers are out of service or just ring out endlessly. Rooms are very dated. Myself and two colleagues showers didnt work which makes we wonder when the bathrooms were last cleaned? There is no room service period and the restaurant has very limited hours. I doubt you would want to eat in it anyway.Oh, if you see recent 5 star reviews - its from the staff/owners.Dont stay here. Go to the Hilton down the road.
The spa was unorganized and very unprofessional. We booked facials three weeks before our trip we were all very excited and the canceled on us the day of. At night it was very noisy and the fire alarm went of randomly, many people knocking on our door me and my friends were very scared. We wasted and missed out on hundreds of dollars on facials. We had a very bad experience do not recommend.
Went here for a friends wedding 2 weeks ago and it was amazing. The venue was beautiful and grounds well kept. The food was delicious and staff was friendly and wore masks. Wish they required all guests to wear masks or show proof of vaccination if opting of masks but that is every business so guess theyre on par w/other businesses.
For a party of 5 girls going for a day and a night of relaxation (what we hoped) and fun this place didnt present any.To start off that one of the rooms had a bathroom issue ( sink backed up and flooded the bathroom and part of the room), the lack of communication or control from the staff to fix it. The empty promise to be moved to another room, that never happened since reception personnel changed and also didnt communicate to each other. We had to cancel few massages for the fact that we had to clean the room because of the flood for which we got charged 50% regardless since the spa turns out to be a 3rd party owned. Then again because of the mishap in these old rooms with the most uncomfortable beds we have ever slept into we had to move a lunch reservation at the pool restaurant. That also turned out to be a 3rd party owned. So instead of feeling like a guest of a hotel, we we bounced back all day from one 3rd party to another to deal with the issues. Then we were thrown out of the outside pool because of a private party. Of course, no notification prior. Same happened at the spa, for which we paid a full day access, but once again the pool was closed for a party. This by far my worst hotel stay. The word mension only applies for the old house.I know its covid and its difficult, but please...have logic creating a business model.
Horrible service followed up by very rude help. Would not recommend staying at this establishment*Edit per request. We were booked there Saturday and Sunday for a wedding. After driving 6 hours on Friday evening, we get a call late that they can no longer accommodate us on Saturday. They did find us another hotel, however it was 30 minutes away and very inconvenient. The purpose of booking for 2 nights was to be close to all things for the wedding and have time to get ready before. We got there Sunday morning requesting to check in ASAP (we requested early check in once we were cancelled on for Saturday) as we have to get ready for the wedding. Upon getting there, we asked if we could wait somewhere and were sent to the outside pool where it was raining. We tried to keep dry and nobody was at the pool. Staff told us we couldnt sit under the shelter and had to go under an umbrella trying to keep us and some of our belongings dry. We werent given a room until after 2pm and waited 2.5 hours for one to be available when everyone else we were with had their rooms by 1pm. We were also put in a different building than everyone else that had a very musty smell and our A/C did not work. We also booked a premium room and were given a standard room.Upon checking out, a staff member also told us we could not park to drop the keys off and there were 5 other cars parked doing the same thing.
Hands down the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I tried to check in at 4 PM and did not get a room till 3 AM. Service here is beyond abysmal. DO NOT STAY HERE. The staff was so unprepared to help and kept telling me to call a number to check in. I called upwards of 20 times, and left voice mails and NEVER got a response. When I finally got to what they called a “renovated room” it was down a dark musty hallway. Clearly was not renovated and actively falling apart. The TV was missing and as you can see from the photos there were large drips in the window. It was disgusting. I was charged $210 for this situation, which is unacceptable.I stayed at the hotel as part of a wedding a block and everyone I spoke to had similar issues. Most guests were given 3 rooms before getting something adequate. A friend checked into a room while someone was still in the bed another friend was given a “renovated room” but the AC was missing. The hotel claimed over and over that they were under renovation and that’s why there are so many problems, but if you look back at the Google reviews they’ve been “under renovations” for at least 3 years.I do feel incredibly bad for the staff, they all seemed to be under trained and not have the tools to help guests. This is a management problem, but DO NOT STAY HERE. It’s not worth your time or money.
LOVE!! i didn’t personally stay at the Mansion but I did have my bridal shower brunch there on July 24! We booked the shower with Helen and she was amazing !!! I was left out of the details but my fiancé had nothing but great things to say about working with Helen and after reading all the emails I can see why. She worked together with my fiancé and mother to make my dream shower come true. Unfortunately i didn’t get a chance to meet her that day since she was on (a well deserved) vacation but her stand in, Cassandra was great. All of the staff was amazing. AND THE FOOD !!! the food was so delicious. The party was on the main outdoor patio. The setting was just so beautiful. I really can’t rave enough. I did have a couple of family members that stayed at the hotel the night before and said it was lovely. Thank you again to everyone at the Mansion.
Hotel website pictures are completely deceiving! Don’t believe what you see! Looking at this hotel on their website it looks absolutely stunning and luxurious. HOWEVER, it is completely run down! You pull up to overgrown “gardens” that in the pictures look well maintained and beautiful. You walk into a run down reception area. Then after walking down the dark and dreary hallways you walk into an outdated room. The floors were dirty, the room had old furniture in it, the shower had a paint stained and ripped shower curtain with a toilet that ran all.night.long and the worst is that when we pulled down the sheets we found hair in the bed and it definitely wasn’t ours! We found a house keeping employee in the hall and told him about it, he told us that he could bring us new sheets but that he didn’t have time to change them that we could do it!! We immediately went down to reception to complain and while we were there one couple was asking for a refund and wanted to leave the hotel and another guest was complaining about his toilet in his room not working. Clearly we were not the only dissatisfied guests. Horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE!!! If I could give no stars I would. Don’t stay here!
We were so disappointed with this place and wish we could do the wedding weekend over. Terrible everything - rooms, service, etc. They lost several items from our party (the bride’s bag included!). Also ZERO to do onsite - no bar, only canned drinks, and that’s if they haven’t closed the pool off for a trashy party they throw every week. The hallways were lined with trash and CHICKEN WINGS. Breakfast yogurt was rancid. Don’t be fooled by the website, most guests rooms looked out onto dumpsters. No security at all, all rooms and buildings had non working locks. We booked a large group for a wedding and they could care less about us. We were told the pool was open Sunday when booking, then upon sitting outside were told we had to leave because the weather “turned nice” and the same promoter group decided they wanted to host their party there. Definitely not worth it - plenty of others in the area.
The only thing 5 star about this hotel is the drive up to the beautiful mansion. Once inside it quickly goes downhill. The hotel is just plain tied and dirty. The hotel staff seemed friendly at checkin the process of getting 3 keys for one room was ridiculous. You had one key card to get you into an outside dorm building, one key card to hopefully open your room, then a real key should the last card not work! The hallways in our building were musty from water stains, the carpet was so wrinkled you could trip over it. The room itself old outdated, musty, complete with problematic plumbing complete with black mold on the shower curtain.Fortunately our stay was short, but next time we are in town, Im sure we would get a better room at the Holiday Inn Express!
I attended a Wellness Retreat as a facilitator and as a Leadership developer, Im always looking at how leadership occurs wherever I land. Helen, Mike, Freddie & the chef (didnt get his name) stood out as service leaders who were constantly adding value in how they served guests. The staff was also amazing which made the stay here wonderful! The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because they need some upgrades in facilities...grace is given due to this past year and difficulty in getting enough staff. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend for retreats!
This was the most embarrassing place Ive ever stayed, in any country. Its awful. No one cared at ALL. Only the housekeepers wore masks. The room (though spacious) overlooked a dumpster. The indoor swimming pool is only available if you book the spa. The outdoor pool is inexplicably only open on weekends -- so good luck to you if youre there for a mid-week wedding. There is no restaurant and no snacks whatsoever. Breakfast included was an unripe pear and a packaged mini croissant in the corner of a room with no chairs or tables to sit at. The lone beverage vending machine was empty for most of our stay. They removed all the phones from the rooms so we called reception from our phone and it just went to voicemail, which no one responded to. The Business Center is an open mezzanine off the main hall near a noisy ice machine where a few high top chairs and sofas are arranged AROUND a pool table and ping pong table. (Theres only one electrical outlet and its not near a table.) There are huge lawns on the property and no pathways and nowhere to sit -- a few lawn chairs were stacked under one tree. The ceremony and reception spaces for the wedding werent set up until the wedding was set to begin. I could go on and on and on. Really, this is a cute historic mansion with a bad Sheraton tacked onto it and management that clearly has no clue. People flew in from other countries to stay here for almost $200 a night. I couldnt believe it. Oh and dont bother walking to the beaches in Glen Cove: theyre only open to residents. Theres absolutely nothing to do here. The only redeeming thing about this place is big old trees on the property.
Where do I start. We arrived at 3:50, the room was not ready so we went to the pool for a quick drink while it was being finished. Pool old and run down. Came back 30 mins later to basically every single reservation being fulfilled at reception. A dozen irate guests. All were offered and upgrade to a renovated double room. I estimate the renovations where sometime in the 80s. Horrible, stained carpets, dirty pool, no basic amenities. All the other guests we were with had the same experience, at least we got a room. And now I have pink eye. Zero stars.
Not worth it. My girlfriend got us 2 nights here for my birthday; thinking it would be like the pictures show. The mansion is nice, but as soon as you get to the rooms you’ll quickly realize it’s like a $80 motel. The rooms have almost no updated amenities except a smart tc. The pillows are horrible, very old. There was a wedding going on, throughout every floor. Needless to say, based on the amount of money she had paid she was extremely disappointed and felt lied to about how this place would be. Very misleading. There is construction going on as well. I could keep writing, but you get it.
What a terrible experience! Our family had made reservations over a year in advance for a family wedding at this venue. The night before the wedding I called to confirm my reservation and was assured by the front desk ( Jeremy) that everything was fine. The next day I called to let the staff know that I was going to be checking it at 5 PM ( we had been told check-in would be available at 4 PM when making the reservation) Jeremy informed me that they were running behind on their room availability and that check-in would be available after 6 PM. After driving for 45 minutes I was called by the bride to be informed that the venue had taken it upon themselves to move some guests to a different Hotel. The hotel where I was moved was terrible, super dirty and the rooms were old and unclean. They placed us in a 2-star hotel where at 2 AM I had a drunk male enter my room. I contacted the venue again and spoke to Jeremy who told me I would get a call back to be placed at the Marriott hotel waited until the next day and NEVER received a call. The next day at the venue we had the bride dressing in a room with no AC where 15 bridesmaids and guests were having their hair blown out and steamers on an 87F degree sunny day because there were still no rooms available. Once the room in the late afternoon finally became available they were unclean. My grandmother who is disabled fell because they lacked proper handicap railings and placed her ( an elderly lady in a wheelchair) in an area where she was required to go up and down stairs without an elevator. There were guests placed in rooms with fresh paint where they had to smell the fumes and some experienced asthma attacks. The ceremony was experienced with no AC and the cocktail hour and party time we had to dance with no AC. We had children feeling dehydrated due to the heat and the bridesmaids sweating through their dresses as well as the bride. It has been 5 days and I have called daily and have yet to hear from management regarding this. There was no courtesy done regarding the rate. The next day we could not even get room service for food. If thinking of hosting your wedding here look elsewhere!
Horrendous. This hotel is a disaster. Reception is cold as ice. You should be thanking them for allowing you to stay at hotel. My room key didn’t work and I was standing in line 5 deep and it was complaint after complaint. My room is filthy. We made reservations 5 mos. in advance for king bed and have two double beds. On and on. Complete disaster. Stay away.
We booked our room a month out. The day before we arrived, I called to confirm our reservation. We arrived at the hotel around 10pm and the receptionist was avoiding my husband. Eventually we were informed that our reservation was cancelled earlier that day and we were never informed. The receptionist said that she would assist us in finding other accommodations for the night, but as more people trailed in and learned that their reservations were also cancelled for the night without notice, it was becoming more apparent that after almost 2 hours, we werent going to be helped by the now overwhelmed receptionist. We were unable to find other accommodations for the night as all the hotels in the area were booked for the night. We ended up needing to drive home that night and missed our Fathers Day plans with our family.
My husband and I stayed here the weekend of our wedding and I would strongly urge others to avoid staying here at all costs. The rooms are dark, dated, and in poor condition. They are not at all in the style of the beautiful mansion facade portrayed on the website. The only reason we stayed here is because absolutely everything else was booked and I would never stay on this property ever again. The entire hotel looks like it is crumbling. The air conditioning was barely functioning, the rooms are very loud, the water pressure is poor, there is no room service, no valets, and the complimentary breakfast was some juice/coffee/and a couple fruit cups.
We have stayed at our fair share of hotels. This tops it all. We were told that check-in is at 4pm and we got there at 9pm (which means our room should have been more than ready by then), it took 45 min just to talk to reception. We were told rooms are not ready and it would be a 2 hour wait. 2 hours pass and we were told still not ready and they will call us. We finally get a room at 11:45. We get into the room at 12 and we find the sheets nasty with hair all over it. Since the room doesnt have a phone to reach the front desk and they didnt answer when we called with our personal phones, we were forced to walk from the other end of the property at midnight. As we reached the front desk there was another girl comes in screaming saying her friend beat her up. Cops come and Im still waiting for someone to help me. They say they will give a discount on my room due to the terrible service but when we checked out and when I checked out my statement it was the regular room rate. 100% wouldnt recommend if youre trying to go to a place to relax or hope will host your guests with the same level of care as you would. Staff seemed extremely clueless and seemed to not know what to do in times like this. They booked 3 wedding parties same day and have no cleaning staff. Its baffling to see how unprepared they were for that.
Worst hotel experience of my life. Needs new owners.Check in at 4:00pm rooms were not ready. I was told rooms were being cleaned. After hours of waiting with an infant, we were brought to a room at 8:00pm. The room had 4 workers bringing in furniture. The room smelled like it was freshly painted and also dusty. The manger mentioned that there was a wedding and that the ppl from the wedding decided to extend their stay and no available rooms. They could only place my family in the rooms that were actively being renovated. I had booked my room over a month in advance and I was also part of the bridal party that was being held the next day. I had travel from Florida and was exhausted but we then had to mop/clean all the construction dust in our room before we could sleep. My baby attempted to eat loose paint chips scattered through the room. The manger offered to comp our stay and that they would change our rooms on the next day.Next day, they still had no rooms available. New guests were arriving and also had no rooms. Many in the wedding party had similar experience, they were put in freshly painted and dusty rooms after 4pm.Upon check out our rooms were charged full price. What was promised was not what was delivered. The Manager was nowhere to be found when we were checking out. The staff was completely lost and unhelpful. Their solution was we couldve stayed somewhere else, after the fact.Other things to be aware of, AC was not working in the bridal suite, reception, and during ceremony. It was a nightmare. This place should be called The Mansion of Terror. Not currently haunted because even the ghosts are fed up.
I didn’t get a chance to stay at this hotel. I booked it well in advance of the wedding we were attending on June 26. Booked it for two nights from Friday thru Sunday. The day before we were to leave, actually late afternoon the day before, the hotel called me and said they needed to cancel my reservation because they’re doing construction at the hotel and they are sold out. I had to scramble and find a hotel room for two nights, among everything else I needed to do to get ready for the wedding. This is no way to run a business. I will never book a hotel stay there again.
Unreal, this “Hotel” should NOT be open to the public, it’s unsafe, it’s filthy and it’s exudes an abundance of neglect! Literally the worst place I have ever stayed and we are reasonable people, I never leave reviews but this one is well warranted. Guests were treated with such disrespect and left without accommodations during an extremely busy time of year (wedding and graduation season). There was no chain of command to request help or to voice a concern, the Manager was always “unavailable”. Ridiculous amenities: no phones in room, no alarm clocks, limited furnishings, rumpled bed linens, unfinished flooring/wall treatments, ripped curtains, broken lamps, views of trash and construction materials in wild piles of chaos, no pool, no dining or bar available and the elevator was inoperable. Do yourself a favor and skip staying here, they are completely misrepresented by 3rd party booking sites and their website.
Let me start off by saying this, I never write reviews on places. Thats how poor my experience was here. We stayed here for my friends wedding in the area. The service was beyond awful. The lady at the front desk gave us the wrong room keys 3 times and never answered the phone. Our room didnt have towels, the lock on the door was broken, the air conditioning cover wasnt on properly, the windows didnt lock and the bed was like sleeping on cement. There was also construction going on that didnt have any coverings in the hallway that guests walk through. The place very much reminded me of a college dorm. On the outside the place looks beautiful but once inside expect to be disappointed.
SHOCKER! DISASTER! HORRIBLE! This is the worst hotel I have ever been to in my entire life and my first hotel review with 1 star. We booked a room for 4 people with 2 queen beds, and during check-in, we were told that this room is not available. The front desk personnel offered us a tiny room instead, told us to put 3 people in a king bed, and 1 person on a folding single roll-in bed. We asked for 2 separate rooms because this is not acceptable. The hotel said they cannot provide 2 separate rooms for us, and there is no other solution (MIND-BLOWING). Hence, we had no choice... We came back from our wedding, and the folding roll-in bed was extremely bad and very short; my brother who slept on it got some back problems and had to go to an urgent care the next day. The hotel also didnt provide extra pillows or quilt. My brother was sleeping on his elbow and under an old dirty blanket with multiple holes. Weve been to many hotels all over the world - and honestly, 2-star hotels in Eastern Europe have better customer service and better standards than the Glen Cove Mansion. BIG SHOCKER, very disappointed, will NEVER come back. I think the nearby Motels would probably provide better service than here. The hotel didnt offer any refund or discount for all the screw-ups - nothing. And watch out - our party was not the only one with such problems. In addition to that, the second room that we booked was supposed to be an Expensive Luxury Renovated room for the newlyweds. However, if you like extra amenities, such as bear-plunge, water in the shower was as warm in the morning as in the Hudson River. Vents in the bathroom have plenty of mold. Sewer barely working - shower becomes a pond. Room Key cards expired several times for no reason. Seriously - shame on you, hotel management. You are running this place extremely poorly - my entire family is extremely disappointed, having back problems, bad wedding memories, and all thanks to you. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
Avoid at all costs! Incompetent management, poor upkeep, and a clear definition of a sh$tshow. Our family(12) arrived at check in(4pm) we were told your rooms were not ready and we need to wait by the sole attendant at reception. Our rooms were booked more than 4 months in advance as part of a wedding party block. An hour goes by and we question for an update that your rooms are still not, ready I cant give you an estimate when they will be. Frustration sets in, manager is involved, and now we have 2 rooms out of the 5 we need. We are told to wait in these two rooms and they would inform us when the other 3 were ready. Upon entering the partial furnished, recently painted, Uncleaned, and coated in construction dust room we immediately knew we could not sleep there with small children. After an hour of back forth with the manager we given two more rooms. One was reasonable and the other seemed to have been painted the day before the scent was so strong. Finally, at 8 pm we were given our final room while we waited in the hallway for them to finish the construction, unwrap the linens, install the furniture, etc. Again the room overwhelmed us with paint fumes. We ended up using our towels to clean all the construction dust. Exhausted, we contacted the bride & groom. They spoke with the manager and we were informed that we would be moved to active rooms the next day or have our stay compd. Neither happened and we were just delayed and mislead. The final morning of our 2 night stay the hotel coordinator, accountant, and manager by phone presented us with we were overbooked and no one should have promised you a room change or comp. Actually, you shouldve been the given the option to stay somewhere else without penalty for canceling. We wouldve gladly stayed at an actual hotel if given the option and not part of the wedding party. Worst customer service in an event associated hotel Ive EVER experienced. The wedding venue would require an equivalently long review.
DO NOT STAY HERE!Our room was 80 degrees when the air conditioner read 60! The room reeked! When we tried to call the front desk-the number didn’t work. The hallways were at least 85 degrees with no ventilation. When I asked where we could get ice, I was told to go to the kitchen that was in the main building! The parking lot needs major repair and there’s a big mud hole in between the buildings near the parking lot- very dangerous. They insulted me by crediting me $50 after I told them I could barely breathe in the room during the night! Please stay away !
So, I dont know where to even begin. If I could give this place -100 stars, I would. It was my wedding night 6/12/21 and they moved me to a room that was doubled bed with NO RUNNING WATER. most of my guests that stayed in there complained about dirty sheets, rooms etc. Do not let the Beautiful pictures fool you. Pool and the rest of amenities promised were ot there.
Positive: Quite property. Helpful staff. Negative: The value was awful. I had a dirty glass left in my room. I had no privacy shade on my first floor room window. The room was very rundown. My bathtub didnt drain well. Water up to my calves for my shower. No food and beverage onsite.
Only giving one star so I can post this review. We called three times to request an early check-in and were told we werent able to check in until 4:00, so we arrived promptly at 4:00. We then waited in line for 45 minutes to check in, the staff was not friendly at all and barely spoke to us as we were checked in. Despite having filled out forms online, we had to re-fill them out at the desk. The security door on the wing we stayed in was broken and carpets were stained and uneven, there was a musty smell trhoughout the entire property. Not once did we see staff cleaning or really see any staff at all. I would recommend staying literally anywhere else.
I was there for a guitar seminar from August 16th to the 20th in 2021. I thought the food, predominantly vegan and vegetarian, specific for the event, was the best food Id ever had at any hotel before. The variety and selection of food over the five days was nonpareil. If youre considering planning an event here, and you like vegetarian food at all, I strongly recommend asking the venue to tailor your meals to be vegan/vegetarian. They are very skilled.
We went the Mansion as a group retreat and overall the service and food was excellent! Check in was seamless and the rooms were clean but a little outdated in our area. I was advised that they are renovating the hotel piece by piece and the section we were in would be the last to be updated. It wasnt a big problem with the rooms...they were clean and the heat worked. They have a large heated pool and good size hot tub, a sauna, and steam room which are brand new. There is also an indoor pub so if you want to get blasted you dont have far to go lol. I was most impressed by the catered food! Most delicious!!! We had 5 meals and literally everything was DELICIOUS! Their fish menu is great and they have amazing vegan options. The catering manager Andrea took amazing care of our group and managed one of the best wait staff I have ever encountered. They have a newly built salt cave and workout facility that I cant wait to enjoy next time we come back.
This was the worst experience I’ve ever had. They market their pools (indoor and outdoor), but it’s deceiving. On Saturday there was an inappropriate photo shoot, and we had to leave the pool with our 7 year old daughter. We made the manager aware, and he said that he didn’t know there was a photo shoot. Secondly, we wanted to use the pool on Sunday at 3PM and were told that both the indoor and outdoor pools were closed. As a side note, they rent the pool out, so it’s likely you won’t get to enjoy it. We will never stay here again.
We had our wedding at the Glen Cove Mansion on 8/27/21. Throughout the entire process Debbie & Ebboni were incredible in helping us to plan, walking us through food tasting, and especially assisting with any and every question (and we had a looottt of questions). I so much appreciate their patience and for making planning as easy and painless as it could be.The Maitre d Mike & Kassandra were so amazing on the day of, they took care of everything so that we didnt need to and they were always in constant communication with usThe entire team made our day so perfect and amazing and we cant recommend the Glen Cove Mansion enough. The Glen Cove Mansion was our first choice and was an easy choice from the moment we drove and saw the breathtaking view of the mansionWe are so grateful to their team for all the work they did and in assisting us - we recommend them 1000 times!!
On June 27, I had my daughter’s graduation brunch and it was EXCELLENT! Debbie was AMAZING! She worked with my sisters and I to ensure the event would be priceless. She was able to secure the rooms for out of of town guests and my family at a great rate. Lacey was a ROCKSTAR! Lacey oversaw our event for the day; her and the crew were superb attending to our needs.Thank you so much Debbie and Lacey for your hard work. All our guests had such a wonderful time and my princess had the time of her life. Thank you so much for the priceless memories.
I stayed here at a wedding recently. This place is the absolute worst hotel I have ever experienced. My mother was given an old non-rennovated room with mouse traps in it. She was moved again to a room that was occupied. Then she was moved again to a room that was renovated finally. We were told the card keys dont work? Then they do work? Take a physical key? What is going on with this place? Its a joke! The hotel booked another event during the event we were in town for. They told my cousin it was only supposed to be her wedding that day! The event was a pool party. There was a wedding occurring right next door and loud music was playing by the wedding venue. It was so loud it could be heard from across the whole grounds during the first look. There was zero respect for the wedding event. The valet REFUSED to park guests in town for a wedding and would only park pool party guests. They let the guests from other events roam all around the venue going into any room they pleased, even with our personal possessions in those rooms. Long story short, my cousin (the bride of the weddings!) Necklace which was a wedding gift to her and her brothers Bose speakers were stolen! On top of all this, the hotel took my card upon checking in and told me I wouldnt be charged, it was only for incidentals. Then they double charged my mother and I!Dont stay here. It isnt worth it. If you are going to have an event here, stay somewhere else and arrange a shuttle. The staff actually seems nice enough, but poorly trained. Although someone did go through my cousins goodie bags left for the wedding guests (was it the staff?). The hotel is in disrepair and needs serious help if it is going to continue operating.***Note*** The company who bought this establishment is based overseas and has no clue what is going on at their establishment. It seems they have some friends and family willing to write them 5 star reviews. I guess you can try to fool people all you want at the cost of your own reputation and standing in the community, but you wont fool me.
Terrible service, DO NOT have a wedding here. New management sold us on having our wedding here like a car salesman. Now that we put a deposit down for a wedding more than a year in advanced the are super dodgy, they don’t respond to email or phone calls and the guy who originally sold us the wedding package left the business so now there’s nobody here to help us. When asking for any questions they haven’t responded for over a month now - that’s not how any wedding venue should treat their customers. We want our refund and they continue to ignore us. Most people on the Long Island Facebook Group for Weddings do not recommend Glen Cove Mansion - please avoid at all cost.
I booked this venue with Steve Carle for my wedding in July. Many things were promised for our wedding but all of sudden he was no longer associated with the venue. We then worked with Debbie and she said they will honor all the agreements. Since then it has been horrible, no communication with any manager (Debbie, Paul, and Ebboni). We booked rooms for guests and they had nothing but horrible experience. Our cousin was given a room that had already 10 people staying there. My father and grandfather who have trouble walking were given rooms far away that required them to walk more then they can due to their health. In our contract we were told that any couple who are staying and are not using their venue are not allowed to take pictures in their grounds. However they were taking pictures the same time as my wedding pictures and my photographer and I had to wait until they were done. What should have taken less than hour to takes pictures took longer than expected. I met Ebboni on the rehearsal dinner and we asked if the pub ( where the after party will take place) a/c was working since one of groomsmen went up to check it out realize the temperature was extremely hot. The pub felt like 85 degree this was brought to her attention and she assured the ac will be up and functioning for our event. The day of my wedding as I went up to my room to change for the afterparty , my guest called me that the guests were moved to the embassy due to the ac not working. The embassy didn’t have half of what the pub had and what we paid for. Yet again it ended pretty early and we were upset since we received a bill where it stated we paid from 11:30 pm to 1:00am . We showed this to the lady Cassandra but insisted the contract said from 10:30-12:00 am . It seems again people at the mansion do not communicate at all. The next day Debbie approached me during my brunch as I am talking to my guests. Of course I am in no mood to argue and have conversation especially with them after the horrible experience with them. She showed the original contra but I told her she was cc in the email of the bill Cindy emailed me on July 10. I told Debbie if she realized the confusion these emails have caused because if you showed this to any third party they will clearly state that we paid and were charged for the 11:30-1200 am. Any how she offered 2 complimentary stay for 1 year anniversary , at this point I gave up with arguing with them . I was done with this place and didn’t want to deal with Debbie or anyone else even after she said it was an “innocent mistake” by Cindy and she didn’t want write her up. The only thing that was great was the food that chef Rodrigo made for us and working with Mike. Chef Rodrigo and Mike’s team during the rehearsal dinner, the cocktail hour and the reception saved our wedding. All the events they were associated with went off without a hitch. It seems only Rodrigo and Mike know what they are doing when it comes to customer service and managing a team. I will not recommend anyone to have their venue here or stay.
Luxury spa is really a dump. The worst service, health violations and violations of state law. First, NO TOWELS.. theyre coming for more than an hour.. never showed up. Roof of the pool is leaking, dropping water on your head in MANY PLACES. Are you a man trying to change in the MENS LOCKER ROOM? They send women in there because the sauna in the womens is not working. Steam room NOT WORKING. Whirl pool NOT WORKING. A lot of nerve to charge money for this. And the woman at the front desk ignores you because she is on her phone all day with a friend!
Not sure why more reviews dont mention this, but this hotel feels like a total bait and switch...Booked a night for a birthday getaway for my girlfriend, based on the charming photos on their website and various travel websites. What is advertised are rooms in an elegant old world mansion environment. What they dont show or mention is that the actual hotel rooms are in extra wings that have been built behind the mansion, that feel somewhere between a run down Ramada and a hospital wing. You can see the exterior of one of these wings in the first attached photo.First room we were given had peeling wallpaper, water damage and stained carpets. The renovated room they offered (as a complimentary upgrade) was cosmetically better inside, but overlooked several huge trash bins. Would have been fine for a $60 econo lodge, but definitely nowhere close to the experience theyre advertising. We ended up not staying the night.
We have several serious complaints and as a result, will never stay there. The room phones did not work and the front desk told me to use my cell phone. The bathtub was rusted and we could not take a shower. After I left, I noticed they charged me twice then when I called they said it was a clerical error. I still didnt get a refund yet which is three weeks ago.
Where do I begin? Under construction with a construction pile as my view below my room (not even in a dumpster). But that’s a small problem. We checked in and were told that food was only for events. We asked about restaurants. Ubers don’t come and taxis take 45 minutes. Closest restaurant is 2 miles, so we order the taxi, go to our room and it’s 80 degrees—A/C clearly not working. Aside from that, construction dust EVERYWHERE. Maintenance man resets the A/C and we’re off to our 9:30pm dinner (flew in from CA). Get back at 11:30, open the door and the room is an OVEN. They can’t fix or move me. Finally moved the next day. Walk into the construction-dust covered room but the A/c is working so I let it go. I look at the bed and I can tell it has been remade, but slept in. Two pillows with sleep creases and a third untouched. Sheets also just retucked, but I’m just thankful for A/C. Chalk it up to a step above camping. Hair on the bathroom floor and construction dust all over the toilet. Stayed here for 3 nights with no access to food, dirty—pool also closed due to private event. This was literally the worst, dirtiest, most uncomfortable experience I’ve ever had in a hotel.
If I could give this place no stars I would. Upon arriving we checked only to find out that our room was in a completely different building in which you have to walk outside to get to (in the rain etc). Upon entering the room (479) the room smelt moldy, the carpet had stains all over it and the bed head and bed itself was atrocious all in all. Keep in mind the room I ordered was the expensive room via expedia not the cheap run down one in which they thought was ok to give us. I went back down to complain and yes received the proper room. I checked in 3 rooms and put my VISA card on file for the possible incidentals and I asked several times if I would be charged at all during my stay and I was assured that I would not be. Out of the 3 rooms they charged me for 2 a total of $177.24 each. I called this morning and spoke to a rude woman with an accent who later hung the phone up on me. I have worked in hospitality for years and it is never okay for you to hang up on a customer regardless of how upset the customer is you need to be retrained.Melissa the venue specialist (who is no longer there) deceived my cousin by saying that up to 40 people could fit in the room she initial told her she would have to choose for her baby shower. The room had mildew all around the floor and the room was small and could barely fit the tables let alone the decorations we wanted to put in the room to add insult to injury they refused to removed the 2 sofas that were in the room (which looked like it had dog hair all over it). Luckily, after complaining that the room was tooo small they gave us the oak room which caters to our needs (thankfully).Consequently this is the worst hotel to stay in and to host your event it is a dilapidated mansion with subpar service (in some areas). I say this because you know who is being fake and who is being genuine. I would not recommend this place to anyone get your act together GLEN COVE and call me back Paul (the manager) your mailbox is FULL!
We highly recommend the Mansion for a weekend or a day event. I can’t wait to come back to see the completion of the restoration of this grand old gem of a home as we got to see a glimpse of the updating of this expansive beauty full of history. From the moment we arrived for our son’s wedding weekend, every single staff member made it feel like it was our home all weekend long. Shirley at the front desk welcomed us warmly and efficiently. The newly renovated room was elegant with modern touches but keeping with the feel of the main house. Our rehearsal dinner was held in the Oak Room which was stately and warm and perfect for the rainy weekend that we had. Our Maitre de Mike and his wait staff and servers treated us and our family like his own family and tended to our every need. Chef and his staff prepared the most delicious home style, good old fashioned Italian dinner topped of with the prettiest and most creamy, New York Cheesecake. That was just a glimpse of the most incredible cocktail hour and dinner to follow at the wedding the next evening coordinated by the amazing Debbie who gracefully handled all the Covid related changes and updates to some of the originally planned, pre covid arrangements. You can’t imagine what a year it must have been for businesses like this especially. So on to Wedding Day...ceremony was held indoors due to rain with plenty of space for all and every detail including patio umbrellas keeping us dry ceremony to outdoor tented cocktail hour were thought of by their team of transitioners. Robert the bartender prepared a fun and colorful signature cocktail to start us off and then the sampling of Chef’s specialties were served. The seafood and array of Italian favorites gourmet style were enjoyed by all. I must get that recipe for the lasagna bolognese which was homemade with a true bechamel filling just how it tastes on our trips to Italy. Then came the most incredible dinners of salmon, chicken and a beautiful filet mignone all perfectly prepared and plated -so picturesquely....and I’m still talking about the dessert again prepared and plated by Chef which was the brides favorite Funfetti cake done gourmet style with chocolate ganache filling paired with a chocolate truffle and of course no Italian Family festivity would not be complete without a mini cannoli to join the other dolces. The evening ended up in the speakeasy lounge where we all got comfy and kicked off our shoes. Talk about a step back in time room hidden way up in the attic level overlooking the Long Island Sound. Our time at the Mansion ended with an easy grab and go breakfast in the lobby area room with homemade breakfast pasteries, coffee, fresh fruit, etc. where we could Great our guests and say our goodbyes. We thank all those at The Mansion who created this fairytale wedding experience for all. We will definitely be back.
Hello. Used to stay here quite a bit back in the day. Not sure what has happened, but it feels to my soul as if the devil has consumed the whole grounds. There’s an eerie aura that stuck with me for days after I departed. First, when I arrived, I drove all the way to Vietnam to just find a spot. Walked another 17 hours to the front where I stood in line at the understaffed and desk, for 15 mins, which I may say was my best experience at the hotel. After being taken to my room, I walked into the smell of pickle juice? Old rug? And steam? I think you get the idea.
Me and my boyfriend are checking in on Memorial Day weekend (Sunday night-Monday), only to find out that their pool, spa and gym are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning!! There is no breakfast in the weekdays and no room service. So disappointing! Might as well stay at home or go to a cheaper hotel that has better accommodating services to their guests!
Worst experience Ive ever had with a hotel. We made our reservation on May 13th.On June 18th, we called to confirm the reservation and confirm that they knew we would have a dog with us. After repeated attempts to get through, we finally did reach someone who confirmed the reservation and that they knew we would have the dog.On June 19th around 10 PM, we showed up to check-in. First, the girl at the counter had trouble finding the reservation, then she found it in the third-party reservation system and after making some calls was able to determine that the manager had canceled all third-party reservations that morning because they had overbooked. and Egencia/Hotels.com should have contacted us to let us know. But she was going to do what she could to try and rebook us at a nearby hotel. There was no management around, just one girl ill-equipped to deal with the monumental disaster. There was a large wedding going on (Im sure that was the reason they overbooked) and while I waited for her to try and make other arrangements for me, I watched dozens of wedding guests come through for assistance getting into their rooms since their keys had stopped working (again), something that had apparently been going on all day and evening. Even the groom came by since he was unable to get into the bridal suite!!Another couple who had booked through AMEX came in and were told the same things. After 1 1/2 hours, I just gave up and drove my family back to Connecticut.
Happy little surprise! Best “staycation” ever. Jeremy at the front desk is a gentleman, super polite, helpful and professional. The entire staff made the stay a positive experience. A memorable 40th birthday celebration. The spa and sauna was very classy and relaxing. I will be a regular here. Thank you guys. And to everyone concerned with room, they are actively and quickly remedying and updating every inch of this beautiful building!Thank you again!
The service was exceptional! The food came quick and our water were never close to empty. The presentation of each dish are so instagram worthy and they were delicious too! We went on a New Years weekend and they gave us complementary champagne! This place deserves 5/5 stars!!!
Paid a premium price for one of their newly renovated rooms in the main building. The bed was okay - the linens were clean but the mattress was mushy.Picked up some leftover fake eyelashes on our socks from the previous occupants.Stay was for 2 nights - housekeeping did not come the first day, but woke me up at 8am the day we were supposed to checkout at noon.Carpets in hallways look old and stained; common areas needed a good dusting.I know its the height of the pandemic, but with the pub being closed, that eliminates a big attraction for this place.Overpriced
The Mansion is not your average hotel. There are traces of modernity of course, but its a relic of a bygone era. The setting is beautiful, bucolic and idyllic, surrounded by countless acres of trees and grass. Were very fortunate that this historic place has been preserved and made accessible to guests, so that we can experience the opulent lifestyle of the Gold Coast era firsthand without having the deep pockets of a Pratt or a Morgan or a Woolworth. I was impressed that, despite being short-staffed due to Covid, the manager Betty was so patient with me and attentive to even my smallest requests. The front desk staff, including Jeremy, was very helpful and reliable. My room was beautifully appointed too, like a classic studio apartment.
This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. We get there check in and go to the room and the room keys didn’t work. Then when we finally get in the room the TV doesn’t work and took 4 hrs to get fixed with multiple phone calls and waking up to the front desk. Also some of the lights in the room did not work. We had a four day stay and house keeping NEVER came. I understand with COVID that it may have been not everyday but no one said anything. When we finally ask for towels it took about 2 hrs to get. Also I was never told that the building was under construction. Waiting to get my money back because this was so unacceptable.
Staff sucks. Place reaks of paint. You cant get a drink or food anywhere unless you have an event. I took off of work to hit the happy hour. They smirked and gave me a map to places around you that you can Uber too. Imagine having to order Uber eats to a Mansion at 350 a night my room reaks of drying painUpdate second night after room service was here in the morning clear stuff is taken from us by supposed safe staff.I called American express I will dispute and let everyone at the 35 gas stations I run and 7 websites that you should not use the Mansion
Poor service, the areas were dirty. But mainly, they double charged me. I booked through expedia. They got paid in advance. I was reassured my card would not be charged and it was. I spoke to several people before I left. But I was charged. More importantly they are very difficult to get a hold of and are taking forever to rectify. I incurred additional charges from my card because of this.
I am here with two business associates. The Mansion is a fabulous place to stay. The grounds are breathtaking and the room was clean, new and had a wonderful view of the sprawling grounds. The food is exceptional and the staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the hot tub and locker facilities are undergoing renovation presently, but both the indoor and outdoor pools are spectacular. I was amazed also how reasonably-priced the room rates were. This place is a must visit between now and the fall. Nicely done Mansion.
Normally would care that my name is attached. But honestly I would never ever ever ever ever recommend anyone staying here at $50 a night let alone $200 a night! 1940s accommodations with 2030 prices if they can even offer that because food mini fridge no not at this place! Honestly should be embarrassed charging what they do for what you receive! Currently demanding a full refund utterly disappointed could not recommend less
Friendly staff, the managers were professional and accommodating! Gave us a complimentary late check out; thanks to you ladies, our kids got to enjoy the pool a bit more! Been here for weddings in the past but first time actually staying here; definitely will be coming back!
SERIOUSLY I NEED TO START OFF BY JEREMY AT THE FRONT DESK AMAZING, his customer service skills are beyond anything expected! I mean extremely polite and you can tell he loves what he does! Then the room let me tell you AMAZING! Once again beyond expectations, extremely clean, everything I needed plus some! THE wonderful staff at MYW studio where fantastic! They were extremely tentative and the couples massage was WONDERFUL! I highly recommend it...then just when you think things couldn’t get any better my Valentine’s Day dinner reservations at 830 and we decided that was too late, so last minute the Restaurant staff was fantastic and was able to accommodate us to a 630 reservations instead! I know this review got a bit long and I apologize but you can only EXPERIENCE this when you book your room! SO DON’T THINK TWICE! THANK YOU to JEREMEY & the rest of The Glencove Mansion staff for an amazing Valentine’s Day and I look forward to my next stay! :)
I made this reservation over a month ago along with the Jussen reservation and now Cheryl cancels the day before the event. Both myself and my husband have made many phone calls over the last week and a half to try to get clarification.Only one person answered who said they would have someone call within a hour. That was 3 days ago.Other calls resulted in “Mailbox is full” messages. Hardly the way to provide customer service. This was to be the Rehearsal Dinner for my son’s wedding. The fact that you never responded to any phone message and waited until the day before the event is inexcusable.Apologies are absolutely no help in this situation.I intend to contact Opentable, Yelp and Google to express my feelings regarding this disgraceful and unacceptable treatment.I am disgusted and shocked to be left without a venue the day preceding the dinner. It’s no wonder the negative reviews you have earned.
I seldom review a business but felt compelled to share how truly wonderful the Mansion and it’s staff was during a brunch celebrating my parent’s 50th anniversary. From the the first moment we spoke with them, they offered support and care. Our main point of contact, Helen, followed up with us by phone, made helpful suggestions, and even showed up on her day off to see the event got off to a good start. And while they were ever attentive, they also gave us the distance we asked for to celebrate our family’s milestone privately. If you are looking for a conveniently located place at a fair price on beautiful grounds with top-notch service, you should definitely consider the Mansion.
Catered food was the best I have ever eaten. Andrea was the manager and was very professional with managing a 5-star staff. The hotel was clean and had really beautiful scenery for the gram. The have amazing amenities: spa, pool, hot tubs, sauna, steam room, yoga room, gym, pool tables, business area...this is a one stop shop! I will be back with a group. Highly recommend this little staycation.
For my daughter’s wedding, we had 73 guests staying at The Mansion, totaling 65 room nights over a 5-day period (Thursday – Monday). While the building and grounds are beautiful, the incompetent staff and overpriced pool bar are the things we will remember most. We provided the front desk staff a list for distribution of welcome bags to our guests upon check-in throughout the weekend, but they repeatedly lost or ignored the list, resulting in some guests not getting bags and others getting more than they should have. Similarly, we negotiated a discounted breakfast rate for our guests, yet many were charged full price because the person seating guests did not have the list handy. Drinks at the pool bar averaged about $20 apiece for 5-6 ounce cocktails that were mostly ice. In addition, they steadfastly forbid professional photography on the grounds unless the wedding reception is held there. Despite our guests collectively spending more than $17,000 there, we could not get a single picture of the bride and groom. The Mansion could be a great place to stay, if it had a more competent and friendly staff. Also, be sure to get EVERYTHING in writing – two sales managers quit during the 15 months we were dealing with The Mansion. My advice – look elsewhere.
After reading the bad reviews I wasn’t sure how our stay would be. Thankfully I went ahead with the reservation because our romantic couple weekend was absolutely perfect!!! Check in was fast & easy. We did order the champagne & strawberries package & when we got there it wasn’t in our room. I had to call the front desk, after almost 2 hours we still didn’t have our stuff! Luckily we found staff member & he quickly fixed the issue. The breakfast in bed package was so worth it! We reserved the premium king room & it was great! The indoor pool was clean, however there were no close bathrooms. Luckily our room was close enough to walk to so that wasn’t too much of an issue. The outside pool is beautiful! The music was great, the food & drinks amazing!!! Great staff in the outdoor pool area. Super attentive & excellent service!! We had a great weekend at the mansion, would definitely return!!
Reall impressive grounds and layout. The space over delivers, so grand! I didn’t love my room but was here with a group and didn’t have much say in the room selection. Rooms were not modern but beds were so cozy and the place was spotless. Had a nice breakfast buffet before leaving.
This hotel has seen better days. We booked this hotel in particular for the hot tub and the pool. The hot tub was out of order (it’s okay, it happens), and the indoor pool was pretty gross. It had a ton of hair floating around in it. My husband had to clean it out before we used it. It was dirty and there was algae and weird discolored growths all over the bottom and side of the pool. Several of the towels at the pool were stained. The room was dated, but cleaner than the pool. The couch had hair in it, but it was otherwise fine.As for the staff, there was one very nice maintenance man but otherwise everyone we spoke to was short with us and seemed annoyed we were talking to them.We won’t be visiting again.
Very beautiful location. The mansion has great curb appeal and you dont feel crowded. The layout inside is a little strange as the mansion has had additions and is going through some renovations. However, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is not included, but the buffet was amazing with a chef to cook you an omelet exactly how you want it. Overall, I was very satisfied
So...i stayed for 2 nights to go to a wedding recently. My review isnt going to be that much different than most others. I like how quaint and old school the place is. It has an old worn charm that makes it a nice place to host events like weddings and maybe small meetings/conferences.Once you look past the old school charm, especially if the entrance, the warts become evident. The room was OK, there was some mildew in spots in the bathroom. There as an initially musty smell when first entering the room. My friends who visited had mixed reviews, some similar to mine and others ended up into a room that theyd rate as a 1* - dingy, musty, no windows, strong mildew smell. This is a short stay place. There may be some renovations going on, and thats welcomed to me. I think that there are things that can be done to update the place, yet keep the charm. I hope they do.
An experience like no other. Drive through the woods to stay, dine, or meet in a historical mansion prioritizing the preservation of the elegance of the original Pratt mansion, yet keeping modernization in mind to give their guests a lovely experience.A windy road leading to a mansion with marble columns with spotlights greet you. As a historian, I swooned. There are old trees, gardens, fountains, and the sound silence and nature around.Inside, the lobby has a very iconic look. Checkerboard floor tile, soft cushioned seats, a double staircase adorned with old paintings on the walls, and a dining room with clothed tables and curtains so elaborate and large, youll wonder how many people it took to do it, which is also an amazing thing to think about during your stay. The mansions halls branch out quite a bit, showing the complexity of the building, as well as large rooms where meetings or events are held or small cozy spots that are there almost as if they are for private conversations over a cup of coffee or tea. The rooms themselves are nicely lit with a fairly simple bathroom and a cozy bedroom. Great temperature control. Our TV, that had all modern inputs, was located in a large wooden wardrobe, making it a pleasant surprise. You are far from some things and when it gets dark out, it is DARK, but its like a nice retreat where you can relax and enjoy the finer things in life. Also, played a little pool in The Overlook at night, which is full of classic seating, yet a monitor (perhaps for sports?) and a couple of PCs. The fitness center can be seen just below it.The stay was a gift from my father. My fiance stayed for 10 days and when it was time to leave, I felt so sad.Staying here is worth it. NO hotel is perfect (even this one), but this place was magical.
Very dissatisfied with the service, meals and overall treatment we received. As the parents of the bride I would have expected better. Our room wasnt ready until 545. We arrived at 4. As far as the reception, two tables never recieved there food. There was no security, our wedding was crashed by locals and we had to handle it ourselves. We didnt see the bridal host all night. The air conditioning wasnt working 200 plus people and no AC, ridiculous. Look elsewhere when planning your special day Im sure you will be treated better for half the price.
Spent the day there. Outside pool had cold mushy food food, attacked by yellow jacks and loud club music. Inside pool cloudy. Spa loud not relaxing at all. Hot stone massage not hot stones room temp.. Wasted a lot of money never again. Very disappointed since brought someone here to celebrate someones birthday. This year was bad enough and now this!! I feel Im owed a refund for this terrible experience!!
Showing its age. A very unique hotel and event center. Looks to me like a better place to hold a meeting than to stay over. Room was old. Fitness center was not good. Needs to be redone. We were excited to find a neat looking bar with pool and games on the third floor just to find it was dirty and old. They do have a great pool area and fun event on Thursdays with a band.
Attended a wedding here last night (Saturday evening August 2020) and in spite of the difficulties of COVID and a power outage due to Hurricane Isaias we had a great time. Our hosts took every possible precaution to make the event safe, including distancing the seating, requiring mask wearing, and not having dancing. The venue was very nice. They erected two large tents: one for the wedding ceremony and one for the reception. There were additional tables set up on the lawn outside the tent for those who wanted greater social distancing. The food was very good. Service was good. All the servers wore masks. They proved you can hold a safe and fun wedding during a pandemic.
My wife and I recently stayed at the Mansion at Glen Cove for a holiday retreat. Upon arrival, you are impressed by the view of this historic hotel and convention center. The King Luxe room we stayed in was clearly recently renovated and well kept. The bathroom was equipped with a large shower with modern amenities. There were multiple shower heads with good pressure. The individual in-room temperature control can be switched from heat to air to guarantee temperature comfort. The Hotel also had many amenities, it looked like we also could have brought the kids. They had an indoor pool, ping pong table, and billiards table. We stayed for breakfast at the Mansion and were very pleased. The buffet selection was diverse. From continental to full hot breakfast, there was something for everyone. While eating, there was a gentleman walking around the dining room. He stopped by our table to ask if we were enjoying our stay. After a short discussion, we learned he was Bill, the general manager. Aside from making sure we enjoyed our stay, he gave us a little history about the Mansion. I will certainly stay again.
I had a beautiful baptismal brunch at the Mansion. When booking the event, Steve answered all of my questions and always returned my phone calls within 24hrs. Chef Rodrigo Bernal created a beautiful menu. The four course meal was delicious and the presentation was five-stars. Our hostess, Roxanna, was kind, accommodating and made sure the brunch went smoothly. I would highly recommend the Mansion for any event.
Its nice hotel. I decided to stay here because its a historical place, in reality there are a few original rooms and the building itself left.In the beginning we were afraid to be lost in long corridors, but it wasnt an issue. There is yoga room, gym, 2pools, tennis, so you can find things to do during your staying.Weve been in a bar, that has a tasty entrees and an excellent service. We had a renovated room, that is like on a picture, clean and big. But cause of a door between our and next suite we heard every word and laugh of our neighbors. That was uncomfortable and annoying.
This place wants to present itself as upscale, but I was here for a business conference, they put out the same exact food for lunch two days in a row, which wasnt that great, their coffee was awful and reportedly overpriced, bathrooms are difficult to find, not the best maintained, small. They didnt have reception at the front door, I wound up hanging around a different group for 15 minutes before someone noticed I was wearing a shirt for a company that was in a different area of the building. Overall I was not impressed, wouldnt go back.
Historic mansion nestled away from the hustle and bustle of New York. Great for conferences. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth a stay if you are looking for something different. There are new rooms and old rooms. The old rooms aren’t so bad, they are just a nice long walk from the entrance.Nice bar in the attic of the mansion.
The mansion itself is lovely. The staff is friendly and very accommodating (they upgraded our room for us, and when our cable box was not working the came out within 5 minutes of us calling on New Years Eve). The hotel is undergoing renovations, so I assume the rooms will get a much-needed update. This was our second stay and we would definitely come back.
I can only imagine that all the 5 star reviews on this place are fake. This is a wedding venue. If you arent having a wedding there, they arent really interested in your business. Dont go. The restaurant had a significant odor. I walked in, I only saw one person eating - and a handful of people drinking on a Saturday night at 8pm. Scary. My first impression was to drive up to what looks like a beautiful old mansion. The signs said valet parking. But we drove up and none of the 4 valet parking guys had any interest in my car. Ive never seen anything like it honestly. They were sitting there like vagrants. I asked if this was valet parking, and they said something to the effect that this was only for the wedding. Everyone else has to self park. They did not give a **** about me thats for sure. I was going to complain once we got in, but I could see the reception staff wasnt any better.I never saw a manager to speak with the entire visit. So clearly that solves complaints! The building itself is old and in decay. It has a fair share of odors. The updates they have done are cheap. The carpets all have wrinkles. And the design of the new buildings they added at some point completely remove any mystique or charm from the place. As a wedding venue it seemed to be mediocre to me from what I could see. Hopefully the people I saw having a wedding there yesterday saved a lot of money. This is a once 5 star building that was allowed to significantly decay, was updated at a 3 star level, and is now staffed by 1-2 star people.
Worst hotel experience I’ve ever encountered. Was given a dirty room after waiting 30 minutes to check in. Other guests were given the same and one couple was even assigned someone else’s room and walked in on them. Staff was rude and seemed nonchalant about assigning dirty rooms after the guaranteed check in time. DONT STAY HERE. The place should shut down.
I go with my wife to this lovely spot often! This is my favorite place to to have a good dinner. I visit this spot at least once a month. The food is very tasty, the staff members are friendly and the cost is affordable. I enjoy meeting in this restaurant over a good supper.
Very strange place indeed. It reminded me of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. We booked a room to stay overnight because this place is close to the venue of the wedding we attended. We pulled up and we were not allowed in the front entrance. We had to park in a lot and drag our luggage through a back entrance to get to the check in area. From the outside its a beautiful old mansion. The inside foyer is also very nice...and thats where it ends. The guy who checked us in was not a happy dude. He barely made eye contact and seemed like he would be happier getting a root canal. I overheard him say ONE MORE HOUR! as we dragged our bags to our outdated, relatively clean room (in the main building). I figured maybe he was having a bad day so I let it slide. The room was decent. Two full size (not queen) beds. Air conditioning was meh...we were sweating with it on full blast and we kind of felt damp all around. Ceilings are old and stained in a few places. Towels needed to be replaced about 3 years ago...totally worn. At least the room was very quiet. Not the worst experience but no where near what I expect for close to $200 for one night. After we returned from our affair we met everyone in the upstairs bar. It was like walking into a time machine....very strange. The next morning we packed up and my boyfriend dragged the luggage to the car while I checked out. Remember I thought the reception guy was just having a bad day? Well I guess hes just cranky all the time. Again no eye contact, no How was your stay? Just Youre good.Maybe if they do some basic renovations (carpet, ceilings and fix the AC) and get someone more personable in the front, it could be great. Until then Ill be going somewhere else.
Had an excellent time at the Mansion!! Breakfast was excellent - tasty omelette station. Beautiful grounds. Superb place to have weddings! Giovanni was a gem! Made us feel right at home and was a available to answer any question! Will love to go back and bring more friends! Very nice outdoor pool!
We are still here because we were driving for 8 hours and needed a place to settle into. We are booked for two nights but not sure if we will stay. If you have elderly or disabled folks DO NOT come here. It is a maze of up and down stairs and a forever walk to your room. We grabbed our smaller bags and our service dog to check out our room - front desk did not offer a bellman. After a 5 minute walk up and down we made it to our room which seemed nice. We had requested a “ground floor” room so we could take our dog out easily and somehow ended up on the 4th floor. We were moved twice more - both rooms involving sets of stairs or a tiny elevator. An employee was kind enough to wheel our remaining luggage in while I struggled to take my suitcase up and down two flights of stairs as he watched. He also directed to me to a back door where I could take the dog out for potty breaks - an unlit area where I could prop the door open with a rock while I walked the dog in complete darkness (also down a flight of stairs). I initially we were told no room service but we were able to order anyway - food arrived promptly but all items were cold. BONUS the food was really good despite the temperature issues. No parking for your car anywhere except in a sketchy back lot or at the front of the “Mansion” a mile from the room. Was looking forward to a hot bath but the tub was so gross I opted for a quick shower. This is a charming looking place on beautiful grounds close to the water but needs so many changes. So many problems with this property it’s a shame as it has so much potential. Their rates are incredibly affordable but for sure you get exactly what you paid for. Hope the owners wisen up andspend the money to make this a 5* property which is certainly has the potential to be. We will watch future reviews and may come back if they do the work. 😔
I Just checked out 2 hours ago. The hotelsmells throughout. In the rooms, the odor may be in the carpet. As I checked into my room a staff member used the master key to freely try to enter 30 minutes after I checked in. People knocked on the door randomly also throughout the stay even with a Do Not Disturb sign. But the smell was so bad I wonder how the are in business still. I did have a nice view and the bathrooms were decent. Major renovations and updates are NEEDED.
The mansion is beautiful. Our room was nicely updated. The bed was very comfortable. However you had the smell of sewage every so often, which is very unappealing. We decided to try out breakfast in bed. I had eggs, potatoes and sausage and was very happy. But my husbands French toast was stale and not good at all. We live in south FL so when we had to park rather far and walk in the cold and snow it was awful, not to mention slippery. They only had valet once because there was an event.
We stayed at the Mansion as part of a large contingent attending a wedding in the Glen Cove/Oyster Bay Area. What a disappointment the hotel was. The two rooms we had for our family somehow escaped the 1990s, one reeked of stale smoke, the other smelled musty. The visible black mold in the bathrooms was unforgivable (I guess bleach is not an easily understood concept). There was obvious water damage in our room. And the carpets were possibly vacuumed at least once this month. And, after we left, our family members reported numerous bug bites which they believed they received in their room. Really hoping we didn’t bring bed bugs home with us...For a business hotel/conference center, the WiFi was spotty (Freddy, on of the staff, did bring in a repeater to help, so have to give him props) and the phones did not work. The electrical system in our room had a multi-plug adapter in one outlet. Curious how the fire inspector would have passed that? The staff were on the walkie-talkies early one morning (before 8:00am on a Saturday morning) chatting loudly outside our room. The restaurant hostess repeatedly referred to my family as “you guys” at breakfast... nice enough, but hardly professional. At least the wait staff was courteous. There was one bellhop on duty, and no luggage racks to be found to carry our luggage through the maze and distance to our rooms. Not very welcoming.Frankly, I’ve stayed in cleaner motor lodges. This hotel has tremendous potential; but will have to step up its game to reach that point.
Had many great stays here, but last couple have been chaotic. Most recently they were filming a movie, which blocked the entrance, with no signs on where to check in. Finally when we found our way in reception was crammed into a little closet. The next day we wanted to have breakfast, but the main area was closed so we were forced into a room with 4 tables. Normally the hotel has a buffet, but on out stay it was just a small menu with 6 items. Bear in mind that they didn’t care to tell us about any of this. After breakfast we wanted to go for a swim, but guess what, the pool was closed. All without warning.
We came here for a weekend lunch at the poolside restaurant - it was an amazing experience overall! First of all the tables were spaced out so we were definitely able to social distance. Second - the ambiance was perfect, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful summer day under the comfort of the parasol. Third - the food was great: we ordered the burrata for appetizer and the grilled octopus for our entrée - the food presentation and taste were on point! The maître d was able to accommodate our food substitution request, and really made us feel special. After lunch we got to walk around the grounds of the mansion, and needless to say it was perfect for taking great pictures for Instagram. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful grounds, and most of the rooms were OK for the price and location, however the service was the worst I have ever experienced at a hotel. I had multiple issues of staff being rude to guests, giving wrong information, and with pricing/expectations not matching what was laid out in my contract. In fact, despite making a wedding block reservation something like 8 months in advance a number of my guests were not given the style of room guaranteed in the contract. In some instances this resulted in as many as 4 adults being crammed into a double full room, despite single kings and double queens being what was reserved. My own room, one of the wedding suites, was priced incorrectly, as well as the food pre-ordered to the room for the morning of the wedding (not only priced wrong, but it took 90 minutes and three phone calls before the correct food that we ordered was actually sent). In one instance my partner had to wait over TWO HOURS to receive food because of misinformation from MULTIPLE staff members. The bar attempted to close early while several of my guests were in it!!! I was so unimpressed by the disorganization and rudeness of the staff that I would never recommend this hotel to a friend or family member. Youre better off at a mediocre hotel with decent service than a lovely hotel with terrible service. I would never stay here again.
Nice hotel with lovely amenities but: ice machine didnt work in our remote building where our hotel room was and I was told I could come to the kitchen to get ice...??????? TV was not working - loose wires my son and I had to fix. Silver fish crawling on the wall, and worst of all, there was mold inside and out of the bath tub and the floor of the tub was a dirty brown.
Property was beautiful. Staff friendly. I was sad the bowling alley In the basement was not a working one, also sad the hot tub was out of order, and that they had converted the raquetball courts to exercise rooms. The beds were super comfy and the water pressure in the shower was great.
Shocked that such s beautiful outside had rooms that look like they are 50 yrs old! Disgusting! So I was moved to an upgraded room. That was perfect, if not the 15 min walk to the lobby!🙄. I’m still not getting any answers as to why each day was a different price?? I checked in on a Tuesday and checked out on a Thursday. Day 1 $189 ,day 2 $209, last night $169??? I have got nothing but the run around for answers! This hotel is overrated and overpriced! Still waiting for my answers??
Pulling into the Mansion looks like something from a movie until you get to your room.... the rooms are old and the key they assigned us to was to a room where people were already in which was not only embarrassing but really awkward. In the room I stayed at the ac didn’t work normally, kept getting hot then randomly cold. The soap for the shower was a box of soap that was empty. The shower had a mind of its own and got hot and cold with very low water pressure. The beds are very hard with the pillows and the blanket is not comfortable at all. If you plan on communicating with anyone then this place is not for you. The WiFi does not work and the service is so bad. Also, the “heated pool” and “hot” tub we’re completely cold and the bowing alley that they advertise is permanently out of use. The place over is just so dull. I had very high expectations coming here and I was let down big time! I really recommend that you find somewhere else because this place was an awful experience.
Check in at 11 pm - no issues, super fast and friendly. Wifi is constantly down. Have to call front desk and ask for a fix. This repeats every day. Room 107 is big enough, bed is super comfortable. No good view. Heating thing is noisy and annoying. Had to turn it off during the night. Room and some parts of the hotel require renovation. Some renovation is in progress here and there. Gym and pool shoud be replaced. See photos. No comments here. Staff is super friendly and responsive. Food is average. Some times cold. Had to remind waiters several times about my order. Not just once but every day. Very quiet place in general. Late check out - no problem. Solid 3 stars.
My husband visited The Glen Cove Mansion for a work conference and loved it, so we decided that for my mom’s 70th birthday, we would spend the night and have dinner. We made a 7:45 dinner reservation days in advance. We arrived around 6:30 and right away it became evident that there was a wedding reception on the way.Our family, who are well traveled, had the worst experience ever:1.The rooms were dated2.The building that we stayed at was undergoing renovation. Work equipment and materials were visible.3.We arrive in the dining hall at 7:42 and sat in the waiting area for approximately 12 minutes watching staff members go and come without acknowledging us. We finally reached out to one lady waiter who told us she would be back; she never came back. We stopped a second waiter who took us to our seat.4.The waiter gave us some water, brought us a paper menu and advised us that half the items on the menu were not available.5.We gave the waiter our order and waited for an additional 1 ½, yes, one and a half hours for our order along with 2 more families in the dining hall. We were blown away by the subpar service.6.To add insult to injury, the manager (Grace) was in the dining room. Within the first 30 minutes of us being seated, she walked around checking on various tables; she walked right by our table and didn’t say a word. We watched her for another 20 minutes and decided to call her over. We asked her if we were invisible and schooled her in a lesson of “subconscious bias”; we informed her of the service we received so far. She apologized, said she would check on our food and NEVER came back.7.The waiters came back to apologize and inform us that because there was a wedding going on, the chef was overwhelmed which led to our almost 2 hour wait. However, interestingly, there were 3 sets of guest waiting for our order for over an hour but a table of 4 came in, got seated right away, and within 30 minutes were served their meals. No one could explain to us why that was.8.We left the restaurant with no food then went to the front desk to check out. Grace apologized again, offered to comp our rooms and the dinner that we never had, and offered to comp our stay in the future.9.My mom’s birthday was ruined! The experience was so terrible; I would never visit there again, even if it was for free.
Everything was dirty. The hot tub sat half empty. The white tile around the pool was grey with dirt. Trash and room service trays littered the halls . The carpet literally squeezes out water on the the walk to our room from a leak. We paid $300 for our meal which took 3 hours to serve and we asked for a refund there was no manager on site to do so. All vending machines were completely empty. Just to name a few we stayed there Dec 30th and still have not even recieved a call from management addressing our concerns. Save your money! Find another hotel.
I stayed due to working in the area Sunday til today. After reading mixed reviews- I opted to book my stay directly with the Mansion asking if food is on site and room service. After they reassured me, I booked my stay. They neglected to get my breakfast room service plaquard from my door from Sunday night soooo, no breakfast Monday then worked a 10 hour day. They apologized and reassured me breakfast Tuesday. That didn’t happen either then went on to work another 10 hour day. This place has great potentially solely based on the structure and grounds. Very disappointed and they refused to credit me. I booked for 3 nights. 2 paid, 3rd night free. I checked out not wanting to stay the third night. Oh well 😔
Service at this hotel is poor. Staff very unfriendly and look unhappy. Bellman tossed our luggage into the room and walked out. Mediocre over priced room service for 2 came on a tray without a table to comfortably dine. No extra napkins no water. Sad. The old window AC unit is loud and sounds like its about to die. Since Im staying one night to attend a wedding I will tough it out. I will not return to this property ever. I guess they put short stay guests in the seedy part of the hotel. My room was a hike from the front desk. I do not recommend this hotel.
From the internet, the hotel appears to be a beautiful place with charm. That was not the case when we arrived. The main building is nice and newly furnished, but we were not given rooms in that section. We were placed in the building outside of the main building which was very run down, had ants, was musty, and had a smoke detector that flashed all night. I spoke with the hotel after we left, was assured that someone would get back to me and never heard from anyone. They explained that the hotel was in the process of being renovated but that is not an excuse. No one should be put in those rooms. Please check where you will stay if you choose this hotel.
Staying here now, unfortunately. Water damage and mildew smell throughout the place. We tried changing rooms, because our current room smells bad and has NO cold water in the sink (which was reported this morning, but wasnt even looked at as of 6:00 PM). The new room that was offered (empty parking lot, but thats the only room available) smelled even worse. The only positive so far: nice bar (Pratts) and bartender.
This place is terrible. We waited an hour for our dinner only to hear that the manager was at the bar having a steak dinner and wine. She only got up when the entire dining room called her out on it.The main desk was rude and made it out to be the customers fault for wanting to check in.My aunt went into her room but it was already occupied. The service desk guy came down and was mad at her. Our room the door was open.Staff seems bothered my the least requests. Would never stay here again.
This is a joke of a hotel. Yes it’s Beautiful on the outside and in the inside but the rooms where gust stay are old and moldy. We had to switch a room because it stunk so bad. The beds are hard as a rock As well as the pillows. The staff is rude. I asked the front desk where I could get food they directed me to the area. There was food laying out so I grabbed some. After I was fished a lady asked me what I was doing I told her there was no one down here and the front desk told me I could come down for food she said your not allowed down here. I’ve never been treated so badly at a hotel in my life because of how unorganized and unprofessional the staff is here. It sucks because there’s no other hotels in the area but I would recommend find an airbnb because I’m guessing the host would be 1000 times better.
PLEASE IF YOY ARE CONSIDERING STAYING HERE READ MY VERY LONG POST! I wish I had listened to the other reviews! This is by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at! It is filthy and smelly! To be perfectly honest I have yet to find something I like about it here. When I checked it it was s 25 minute ordeal as the woman first said I had no reservation, then she argued that I had only booked it the night before when I had actually booked AND pre-paid for it 11 days earlier! Then she argued that I had the wrong credit card which after I showed her my PAID for reservation for a third time she accepted that I knew which card I had used. I also said I paid EXTRA to get a “Deluxe” room in the main building. I was send down a long hallway then down a set of stairs to another hallway then down another set of stairs to a very musty smelling hallway. BTW there are NO elevators nor anyone or anything to drag your bags to what seems a room a mile away! Also hauling them back UP two sets of stairs! We went out and did not return to our room till after 11pm. After being awake for 37 hours and 24 hours driving we all needed showers. We booked a room for 3 but there were only 2 towels in our room. 😳We had to call and wait for more. While waiting to shower we killed three bugs in the bathroom and cleaned off the hair on the door from the previous guests. I wanted to get ice which the only machine is very far away AND they had not cleaned the ice bucket out from the previous guests. 🤢. Nor the coffee cup!Day two of our stay. We were out all day again and I had promised my 10yr old he could swim. We were banished to the indoor pool as the weekends apparently they serve liquor at the outdoor pool so kids are not allowed. Something we were NOT told when making reservations or at check in! BTW they even charge guests $10 each to swim in the pool!!! As you can see by my pictures the indoor pool is gross!!! Cloudy, green algae in the pool, not hot tub, dirty gross hair and trash everywhere! PILES of dead bugs everywhere! I would not get in the eater! 🤢🤢🤢. Next my son wanted to play ping pong. We had to find a guy to find a ball and as you can see from my pics the paddles were a mess and the table broken. Next stop was a game of pool, too bad all the cue sticks are broken and unusable! 😡. We did manage to play one game while listening to someone’s dog barking incessantly!!!!!!! After that back to our room for showers. Now the toilet won’t stop running so I had to call to have that fixed! Apparently that happens often as the worker said “Well they are just old” My son asked to play on my laptop I brought but the WiFi was also not working in our room!!! Next I tried to call room service but no one answered so who even answered at the front desk took my order. He SPECIFICALLY asked what type of cheese on my burger but as you can see by my pic no cheese on my cold burger that took over an hour to get and a terrible salad with rock hard tomatoes and carrots?? 😂😂😂When I looked at the room service bill I was to sign I asked the kid who delivered it why was I being charged both a service charge AND a room service charge and he had no idea and also said I got no receipt, AND I had to find my own pen as he had none with him. One set of silverware for two dinners, I guess their kids eat with their fingers and don’t need a napkin??? One would think for over $40 for a burger and chicken nugget we could at least get two napkins! 😂😂😂.Our so called DELUXE room has two double beds with sheets snd blankets so old they are frayed and see through. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!Notice the response from the owner.... she does not even care how gross and dirty the place is. I also want to know why children are not allowed at the “clean” pool? I guess they don’t like children! They should make it a no children hotel because it is NOT child friendly! Oh and btw the bathroom toilet never got fixed!!!
I participated in a retreat at the Glen Cove Mansion and had a good time there. Although I was there when it was still covered by snow and ice, the scenery was pleasant and a great place to get away from the city. The staff were mostly helpful and courteous. The gym and pool were unattended while I was there, which meant I couldnt access the lockers or turn on the Jacuzzi. The bar is a cool place to hang out after hours, but the beer was overpriced and the Karaoke machine didnt work properly. The food was ok.
Dont waste your money in staying here overnight. We would have left, except we were staying there for a wedding. The rooms are old and dirty, the amenities are not working, like the ice machines. They have not been updated in decades. The staff is not friendly, save two. Paul in the Pratts bar is the best employee there. the rooms we requested three months prior were not honored and it took 20-30 minutes to resolve at check-in, and the front desk staff was not communicative at all. The door to our room building was old and broken, the lock didnt work consistently. We also had stink bugs and spiders in our room, and they were found in the sheets. The old pool and workout room were the best areas. We had to request extra towels 4 times before they brought them. They also did not clean our room but cleaned our adjoining room, and accused us of being in it instead of apologizing when we requested it be cleaned. If you are not staying overnight, it may be a different story except the staff is not very friendly. Be aware. It is a shame, the grounds and the main building are gorgeous.
The mansion has seen better days but is an awesome spot for an all inclusive wedding, which was the reason for our visit. Rooms are satisfactory; clean but definitely in 90s style. They are in the middle of a remodel, so expect to see much of the hotel in some level of construction.
If I could give a negative rating I would !I came here with my fiancé and it was the worst experience possible. The word “Mansion” should not be associated with this place. I was awaken by a loud horrifying scream from my fiancé after our first night. She awoken, yelling that something was crawling on her. At first we were horrified and thought they were bed bugs but after looking closely the insects were a colony of ants in the bed we were sleeping in. We quickly jumped out of the bed and started to shake ourselves, cloths and bags off. We then realized that the entire room was infested with ants. The walls , bathroom , bed, night stand was all crawling with Ants. I contacted the front desk and informed them of the horrific experience and their response fell short of any real concern. Our room was changed to another room, however our new room was directly in the area and path of a location that was being renovated. There were boxes and tools we had to side step to get into our new room... in addition to dust from the work being done. At this point it was time to speak with a supervisor. We went to the front desk and ask to speak with a supervisor who was somewhat reluctant to speak with us. The supervisor finally spoke with us and provided us with another new room. The supervisors responds was less of compassion and more of business. We decided on this place because the website displayed and marketed an in door pool and a exercise room , however both were not for use due to renovations. I informed the supervisor and the staff member that it was miss leading to market resources that are not readily available and they should update their website. We surly wasted our money and time at this. The food and restaurant lacked any form of ambience or taste to consider this place a mansion. I highly recommend anyone interested in staying here to not do so! Stay very faraway from this place. I’m also a septic to anyone who has posted a 5 out of 5 for this place. There is place no where close to a 4 or 5 star. Anyone who thinks I am being less than truthful about this review , I record the infested room and hazardous corridor.
I went to this location for a Company Function and I all I can say is, it did not disappoint. The Mansion itself was something to marvel. We had an all you can eat buffet for dinner and desserts. Their Dining Gallery is huge! Over a dozen different teams were there from across the tri-state area. It was a great experience and I would love to go there again.
Nice location and scenery. The fire alarm in our room went off because we had the door open during a shower. The food was expensive. The bar upstairs was cool but closed early. We went there for a wedding nearby, I probably wouldnt stay there unprompted. Staff was friendly.
THE ROOM: The glass door to get into the building was COMPLETELY shattered. They put tape on it but, in the 2 weeks we were there, it was never fixed. THE SMELL! Our room smelled like they used a mop thatd been souring for weeks. We didn’t even unpack, we went straight to the store, bought Pine-Sol, and wiped down every surface (even walls). We also used room fresheners & sprayed the room with Febreeze every night. All of that and the room only kind of smelled better. - Carpet was disgustingly grimy. I made my kids wear their sandals the entire time. - Sheets were tissue thin w/rips. - The pillows were the worst Ive ever had, one of the cases came off and the pillow was totally stained. - There were a few questionable stains on the walls. - Under ac unit was about 1.5 inches of dust, grime, & trash. - Since we were staying so long, and our room didn’t have a fridge, we relied heavily on our cooler. Imagine the hotel as a U shape. The (ONLY working) ice machine was on the opposite side of the U from our room, a good 10 min walk with kids & cooler. - Shower curain rod was angled, but drooping, so the curtain fell to the middle & water covered the floor after every shower. - Ac didnt work wellTHE POOL(s): When we checked in the boys were so exited to go for a swim. Only then were we informed kids aren’t allowed in the outdoor pool during weekends. And, during the week, if you want a chair you have to buy $50 worth of stuff from the bar. Which would be fast because a tiny drink (8-10 ounce of mostly ice) & ballpark hotdog would put you pretty close to $50. Even though 99% of the chairs were empty (there was only one other mom with 2 kids there), we weren’t allowed on the chairs. We never went back. The indoor pool was a little better, though it only had towels available once or twice out of the 12 times we were there. It didn’t look like it had been cleaned in MONTHS (the ground was horrifically dirty and the same spiderwebs and dead bugs that were lining the walls on our first day, we’re still there on our last). They even took all the lounge chairs out while we were there and I thought they were going to clean the ground but, they just replaced the wood ones with cheap plastic ones. No idea why they didn’t take that opportunity to clean the floor.THE GROUNDS: Driving up the place is beautiful. But, when you take a closer look its rather neglected. The tennis courts are a massive eyesore, there are huge potholes, the fence is decrepit, etc.THE TV SHOW FILMING: IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE A HEADS UP THAT WE WERE GOING TO BE COMPLETELY INCONVENIENCED AND TREATED LIKE WE WERE THE ANNOYING ONES FOR TWO DAYS!!!! No heads up or compensation WHAT SO EVER!!!! We just woke up to a note under the door saying we weren’t allowed to park in the parking lot closest to our room for 2 days (I thought GREAT maybe they’re fixing the multitude of pot holes!!) It was pouring that day, and that was the the day I needed to do laundry, so I had to shuffle 3 kids, a dog, and 2 loads of laundry to and from a parking lot up the hill in there pouring rain to and from our room (trying not to push too hard on the shattered glass door). The next day I came back from breakfast and was stopped 3 separate times to accommodate the filming. In all, it took about 20 minutes to get from the entrance to a parking spot. Each time I left, coming back was a huge pain. Then, I needed to get ice during filming, I had to wait outside for what felt like forever during the heatwave (to get ice I had to exit one building, walk a bit, and enter the main building) with my kids, cooler, & dog so they could finish a scene. Finally, were from Canada and rely heavily on the wifi to avoid roaming fees. During production there was NO wifi.My oldest was fine all day while away from the room, but when he got back he was experiencing flu like symptoms all night. Hes sensitive to mold, so I can only assume the room was covered in it. It got so bad we left 2 days early.
Was at the Mansion at Glen Cove on a four day retreat with a group consisting of about 45 young ladies. Prior to my visit, I perused the Mansion’s website to see how much of a treat I was in for. I was excited! My actual room assignment however; wasn’t even comparable to what is advertised.Although the retreat’s coordinator booked the hotel more than a year in advance, at least half of our party was housed in a mold and mildew ridden facility that reeked of urine and wasn’t even connected to the mansion. The exposure to the mold caused me to have upper respiratory issues every night. By the final night of my stay, I had broken out in hives. One of the young ladies in my group recorded a video of the black mold harvesting in the corners of her second room assignment. The food on the buffet was reminiscent of prepackaged, heat and serve meals. The hostess in the main dining room was extremely rude. Although the dining room was NEVER at capacity, our group was always seated in the very back of the room. As if to be hidden from the rest of the guests. The outdoor pool was awesome! Had it not been for the outdoor pool and the great company I was in, I would’ve given this hotel zero out of five stars.
Glen Cove Mansion was a very beautiful and impressive location for the professional event that I attended. I especially enjoyed the great service at the front desk and in the dining area. There was also a great variety of snacks provided that our group really enjoyed. My guest room was clean and comfortable, with my only complaints being the somewhat thin walls and doors as well as the lack of a refrigerator in the room.
We stayed here for a wedding, the property is sprawling and expansive. The hotel rooms dont really match the main house or the grounds of the hotel, and the walls are sort of thin. They have a cool bar in the attic of the mansion that has pool tables and alcoves to relax in. Also also a nice indoor pool. A nice space for events, but I would stay elsewhere.
Hotel looks like a shiny new penny on their web site but its a plug nickle. Looks impressive at first glance but beware. Manger said new owner has been pouring money into hotel but its hard to tell once you get by their grand entrance. Rooms are old and dated . Food is average at best. I ordered Buffalo wings in their pub but they didnt come with any type sauce a true sin if you grew up in the Buffalo area. The tennis court fence blew down in hurricane Sandy years ago and never fixed. Indoor pool is a disaster. The garbage dumpsters are full and overflowingLooks like they arent paying there bills. There jewel is the outdoor pool where you have to rent a lounge chair and share the pool with Glen Cove teenagers that some how have more rights then paying guests. . This hotel is falling apart everywhere and the owner needs to double down on the money he is spending or just forget about being in hotel management.
I was there for a retreat overnight stay. Wonderful grounds, tennis, golfing in the immediate area. My room was great with a peace garden view, was served dinner, breakfast and lunch all meals were great tasting. It a huge space to hold weddings or business conference and retreats. My second visit in 3 years.
We are currently at the hotel, this has been a nightmare. I expressed this to the front desk and canceled our second night here and they act like they know this is terrible, apologize and thats it. No interest in even asking me whats wrong. First the girls at the front desk are polite but seem to know nothing about the hotel and provide no information. Maybe because we have kids, they gave us a room in a corridor that stinks of mold. I called the front desk and was left on hold over 10min, do we just walked back to the front and nobody seemed to have any idea that I was on hold-but they did get us a new room. We went to the restaurant in the hotel, not much selection..overpriced..okay food...and poor service. After dinner we went to the heated indoor pool and hot tub freezing cold pool and an out of order hot tub. I called the front desk their response is engineering will get on that. So a relaxing weekend with a pool has turned into misery. The site also advertised fall activities, they have zero going on. Their bowling alley- the girls in front just keep saying its only open Saturday..I keep asking at what time..finally they say noon and its first come first serve.. its one lane so hopefully we can get it tomorrow at noon before we leave.it is not kid friendly, no change tables. NEVER AGAINAdding to my nightmare: the only good thing was the included breakfast. The staff did call me last night and said they were providing a credit for the trouble. This morning at check out, they had no idea i canceled the second night - and there was a food charge for the breakfast. they had to look and said oh yes it is included, taking it off. then she is trying to charge me full price. I told them I was told they were crediting the stay- they had no idea, they gave a $50. credit. We were staying for the bowling..they told me we were informed wrong - the bowling is also not working and you would have needed a reservation if it was. The ridiculousness of this place is amazing. They should advertise Glen cove mansion just come and sleep here because we have nothing else. both me and my husband called the day before check in to confirm all these amenities are there/working..nothing I have listed above was mentioned. Our bathroom in the new room was full of mold, the hinges on the door rusted so badly we thought the door might fall off and the shower handle was broken. When we got home my husband said it felt like we were there a week it was such hell. I agree.
Seriously? Our room was a 20 minute hike from the lobby, with a poorly printed diagram of directions into the abyss. The accommodations were clearly unacceptable unless you likethe musty basement ground level. The room had a damp, moldy odor, old wallpaper hanging from the ceiling, dated furnishings, an atmosphere of disrepair, in dire need of renovations. We requested a room change with MGMT as this was NOT a busy time, but no accommodations were offered. There WERE available renovated rooms on the main level but were denied those as well. This experience along with failed mgmt was remarkable and we have referred others to avoidThe Mansion at GC. At check out we overheard other dissatisfied guestswith room issues.THE INN AT FOX HOLLOW, Woodburyis excellent!
Great place to stay..like a maze inside, but rooms are good size and quiet..mansion is away from beach and any amenities, so you need to know that but taxi is not costly to go to nearby areas and the surroundings are simply beautiful...staff was very helpful and professional..so I dont know what the negative reviews were about. Our stay was very nice and we were there three nights. Lovely pool area at the mansion, both inside pool and outside. I would stay there again.
Had a great night, went for the Chefs dinner, and stayed overnight night. The dinner was great! Desert wine is not normally my favorite but the Nightingale dessert wine was perfect with the peach cobbler and sorbet my favorite course. After dinner we went upstairs to the bar, it is a 2 story hike with no elevator but we followed the music and it led to a band. Great time. Wish we stayed the whole weekend. I looking forward to the next dinner, but they should have printed information about future events.
Very bad experience. Attended a wedding yesterday. Asked if we can come in a few minutes early. I was told they cant because they had to move people around. It sounded like they gave my room to someone else that they had to accommodate. Front desk who took my call was not pleasant. They said they would call me when the rooms ready. No call. I also requested for a fridge 2 weeks prior to store baby formula. No fridge. Room is outdated, no fan in the bathroom. It was a maze to find our room. The worst one-night stay!!!
Place had a lot fun things to do besides just staying in the room. Pool table, bball court, ping pong table . The manager there was also helpful in taking our luggages to our room. However the Mansion is need of a major upgrade, and the lighting was terrible on some of the floors. Overall a decent spot but needs an upgrade.
Impressive entry, building and grounds. A bit remote, but great if you wanted to be in that area.Re: complaints of rooms too remote- yes you must walk a lot. If you are looking for a quick, convenientmotel room, this is not the place...It is remarkable for a lot of recreation and almost-grandeur. For the price, much is provided and it is certainly recommended. It would be fine for a 2-3 night vacation.
We have been staying here for birthday and holiday family occasions over the years. The place is really going down hill. The last 2 visits one being today and one in dec. The hot tub still to date hasnt been working. This time the indoor pool was freezing, when questioning it after another guest had called hours prior it was still freezing. When i called and questioned it hours later they told me it would take some time to get warm. When waking up the next day to go in pool again it was still frezzing and water was filled to top of pool. Also when sitting in one of the seating areas it was hot 78° according to my phone. Asked them to turn on ac it took them hours and then then the temp went to 58° according to my phone. It was extremely uncomfortable. Needless to say we wont be coming back anymore.
What a beautiful establishment, celebrated my birthday here, the food was great and the waitress was five star. The rooms were impecably clean and the entire hotel staff was eager to please and make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. I highly recommend the Mansion at Glen Cove, great ammenities, great get away.
I would rate 4 or 5 star if just for the nice views and great amenities, but the room drags down my rating. They have outdoor tennis/basketball courts and swimming pools. Its also a popular place for weddings though Ive never got a chance to be jere for a wedding. The rooms, however, are a bit outdated. The cleanliness can also be improved. But the price for one night is cheaper compared with other hotels nearby. Also, if you reach at night, pay attention to the entrance as its easy to miss!
Beautiful and unique building. Staff is hit or miss, beautiful area. Hot tub jets did not work. Room was just ok, good if you like old beautiful buildings. Pricey buffet breakfast, had to go and find staff to get the omelet chef to come out. Not as attentive as I would have liked in keeping my coffee and juice topped off. Like I said, hit or miss. Knowing Spanish would help in communicating with staff.
If I could give this place negative stars to lower the rating I would. Front desk was not welcoming at all. The gentleman assisted us understood that we already had two rooms booked and we needed to get our key cards for those rooms. He only gave us one room key to the room we booked and then he added another room to our two rooms that we already booked. Which gave us three rooms for our stay but we only needed two rooms. When explaining the situation to the front desk. He was looking at his binder to confirmed with us that nobody stayed in the other room. When he stated that no one stayed in the room he was going to let the manager know to refund us. Should of been easy fix, right? No it wasn’t! The gentleman stated hotel policy on why he couldn’t refund the third room when we only used two. This is the quickest bait and switch that I have ever seen. This establishment needs to do these things so they can upkeep their rundown hotel. It is so run down that they were having a leak in a ceiling and no staff to quickly respond. So, The Mansion at Glen Cove, you are welcome for the extra money to help your run down hotel.
Property is being renovated but the sleeping room that I was in wasnt renovated. There shouldve been signs posted indicating renovation taking place. The signage indicating where the rooms are confusing. At least for me since the Front Desk Agent forgot to provide me a map to indicate where my sleeping room was located. I only knew about the maps being distributed when I returned to the desk and the agent providing to other guests. Also, Front Desk staff was telling some guests the elevators werent operable and in fact they were. The excuse given when I informed them of this, is the staff member was new. The new staff member shouldve been wearing a tag that said Trainee. Also, the seasoned employee or Manager shouldve been closely listening to them.During dinner, the red Snapper smelled fishy and wasnt good. I requested a coke and it was flat. I asked for another one but for a can of coke because it was clear the soda provided to me was from a gun and it needed to be replaced. The staff was sweet but not seasoned. They couldnt help. Eventually a staff member gave me a coke that wasnt flat. However that was after another staff said there was no cans of coke on property. The room we were in was lovely. It was a warm evening so someone on staff shouldve thought we dont need the fire blazing in the fireplace. These are some items that needed to be mentioned. I come from a hospitality background and the above items can be corrected. I hope...I know my next trip will be better with this constructive criticism.

2022-05-13Please read this if you are considering this hotel. You will not be staying in a B&B type “old mansion” . You will be in dingy, sloppily wired rooms, that are slowly mildewing. The room had hair in the bed and stains on the carpet and the shower head is broken. We used the spa services and the therapists were wonderful, but we were shuffled into a dimly lit hotel room (of the same caliber as was listed before) with the bed scooted over to do a couples massage. The “mansion” rooms are all blocked off for private events, so we can’t even enjoy the atmosphere that we thought we were paying for. And to top it off, their grab and go style breakfast (sparse) had moldy bread. We canceled our dinner reservation immediately.I understand if I am staying in an older building that most of the things will be old! But we are staying in a motel straight from the 80s NOT a marvelous old mansion. For the price we paid this is misleading. Also, we are constantly bombarded with the messaging that the hotel is under renovations, there is no VISIBLE construction being done on the hotel. As an event venue I am sure it’s very nice and catered well. As a guest of the hotel we were treated as an afterthought.

2021-11-10What a beautiful venue! We had the absolute best time celebrating our friends wedding here! My boyfriend and I stayed for the entire weekend and had so much fun learning just how big and grand this mansion really was. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable and a nice size! My one comment would be that our room was a little dated in style. But overall it was an amazing stay and celebration! All of the staff were friendly and helpful.

2022-05-01Like other reviewers, I booked this hotel to stay in the mansion not the 1980’s dorms out back. I couldn’t find any photos or suggestion on the website that we would not be staying in the “mansion” which I feel is misleading Had I known what to expect, I wouldn’t have stayed here. We chose this location because it looked so beautiful on the website even though it required an hour round trip to our event in Huntington. While the room was clean, We had to go to a second room for a shower because ours didn’t work. The person at front desk was very helpful and quick to offer this so I wouldn’t have to wait until maintenance got in. I assume there are some rooms in the mansion but not sure. If you call to book ask where your room will be if it matters to you

2022-04-06We stayed four nights for a wedding. The accommodations were small but very clean The staff was very attentive and helpful. We only ate at the wedding for the cocktail hour, reception, after party and brunch the next morning. Everything was delicious and I have no absolutely no complaints at all!

2022-04-24I had my wedding here about two weeks ago and I cannot rave enough about the service and the attention to detail that everyone played a part in for my wedding. I was nervous about some of the reviews but honestly my wedding went flawless without any hiccups or issues. I started there at 7 o’clock in the morning the day of my wedding to get ready. Had my cocktail and reception hour there plus the after party. Then had the brunch the next morning. Everything went smoothly. The best part was the chef worked with me for a customized menu and it was incredible. People were raving about the food From the cocktail hour to the reception to the after party and to the branch. Also the hotel was perfect and we had no issues with any of our rooms. They even upgraded some of our rooms since we had so many people staying over than we had originally expected. I highly recommend getting married here. the staff helped with everything and made sure all my decorations and that everything was completed and done on time. I will definitely be back !! Thank you for making my wedding so perfect! Also Madison was amazing to work with and she made sure everything worked out! Mike was amazing matrie d and chefs food was incredible!

2022-05-25The hotel is outdated. Not taking care of its facility. Air conditioner failed, phone did not work, massive potholes in driveway, pathetic free breakfast. Dead trees outside my window. Doors to the outside propped open illegally. These guys do not understand hospitality. But they are the only game in the area. You know how that goes.

2022-05-04DO NOT STAY HERE.I recently got married on 4/23/22 at the harbor club (which was amazing). I booked a suite at the glen cove mansion back in January for me to stay the night before my wedding so that my bridesmaids and I had somewhere to get ready the morning of my wedding. I cannot express what a TERRIBLE experience I had. As I stated before, I booked my suite back in January and spoke to a woman named Jen who told me that she will book my suite as well as the bridal suite. I told her that I will pay whatever she needed me to pay to insure Everything goes smoothly. She assured me that everything was booked and there was nothing more I needed to do. About two weeks ago, I didn’t hear anything nor got an email confirmation from the glen cove mansion so my mother and I drove there and to confirm everything because we live relatively close. I spoke to a woman named Shirley who again reassured me that everything was booked and confirmed the bridal suite she also told us there was no other bride staying there, my mother tipped her and thanked her very much for her help and we were on our way. Fast forward to Friday, the day before my wedding, I check into my suite no problems and they told me that the bridal suite will be ready in the morning early. I had a day wedding, so we were getting ready starting at 5am and would be ready by 9:00am the latest for photos before we had to leave for the ceremony. As my bridesmaids and I were in the middle of getting ready around 8:20ish we get a knock on the door and the manager telling us we have exactly 3 minutes to completely evacuate the suite and even held up her phone with a timer. Obviously confused we tried to ask what the problem was and they said Jen never got authorization for me to use the bridal suite and that I must leave immediately. Now my make up team is scrambling to finish my bridesmaids makeup while also packing their things to move to a different room. My maid of honor had just started getting her hair done. It was a disaster. Thankfully for my mother and bridesmaids they made the best of the bad situation to prevent any stress on me. Although looking back now, I can’t even fathom the way they treated me, a bride on what’s supposed to be the best and happiest day of my life. We were all very disgusted with the behavior. And not to mention they put out a spread of breakfast pastries and mimosas which they took away 20 minutes later while kicking us out of the room and still charged me $1200 for all of that and the bridal suite reservation (which they claim to not have record of me reserving) on top of my overnight stay.

2022-05-14I will start off by saying the employees were nice and friendly. The outside if the property is very pretty with much greenery and flowers, but as you approach the Mansion you start to see all the unkept and repairs that the building needs. All the rooms are in a separate building and not part of the mansion which is very disappointing. It somewhat reminds me of a military barracks. It is not very appealing and where they have done repairs you can see that it was done in a haphazardly manner. Paint and caulking on cabinets and walls. No cover on the bathroom light fixture, a big ugly patch on the tub, a heater that is so loud it wakes you up through the night. Also no clock in the room, no artwork on the walls and lampshades didn’t match. It was a creepy experience to say the least. They say that the mansion is under renovation, so why is it open? I think it should have been renovated and then reopened. As you walk through the hallways and stairways you can see more repairs and cleaning that needs to be done. Also the fire alarm went off twice during the night. We really weren’t informed as to what was going on and one of the exit doors was looked. I believe that is a fire hazard. So we checked out early and moved to another hotel.

2022-01-14Never again! I understand the hotel is going through renovations but it should not impact a guests stay and cleanliness of rooms. The room was dirty and the hotels website is not honest about the layout. The first room I was in had stains on the curtains, walls and hair all over the bathroom. It also looked like it was in the middle of being renovated and only half way complete. It was so dirty they put me in another room which was ascetically nicer but still had hair in the bathroom sink and left over items from previous guests on the floor. The and more important concern is the layout of the hotel and rooms. You do not stay in the mansion. You stay in the addition space that has the layout of a maze. The room numbers do not make sense, you go past rooms in the 400s before you get to rooms in the 100-200s. There are very few signs to follow to get to the rooms. They do provide a map but it is just as confusing. I had to walk a long way and got lost quiet often, going up and down dead end corridors, stairs etc all with no signs. If you are person who has difficulty walking for any reason do not book this hotel! You will be worn out before you finally find your room, as was I. Had I been made aware of the very long walk to the rooms, longer than most hotels, and rooms being in additions and not in the mansion I would not have booked the hotel.Inside the room is a desk and a chair too small for most adults to fit into and I am not a big person. The grab and go breakfast consisted of 2 flavors of yogurt and one brand of cereal (Special K). There was coffee but no cream, just whole milk. This place has a lot of work to do and I would not recommend the place until they resolve their issues like cleanliness, signage and transparency on their website.

2022-06-17On my third room change. First hadnt been cleaned. Second, dead bolt had been broken off door. Third the AC unit roars like a bear. No phone in room. Vinyl plank floor. No decor. Worst place I have ever stayed. Theres no updating being done. Thats not the truth. Grounds suck.
