The Original Steves Diner in other cities:
Very friendly and good diner. Food comes out quickly, and everyone is quite pleasant! I came here for brunch, and it was hard to decide which one to order! The menu is pretty extensive, and there are many tasty looking selections. You should order their pancakes. It will surprise you!! That being said, the food amount is also generous overall. One plate comes with enough food, and you will definitely feel full when you are finished. Good coffee selections, and they brew it well. I would certainly go back again for brunch near future!
Who would really eat a stack of plate-size pancakes, complete with sunny side up eggs & lots of bacon!!! It was delightful. We didnt finish our 2 huge blueberry pancakes, but we had enough to last us past lunch. Dont go there with a small appetite. This place is where you go to get your fill, breakfast of champions! It was filling & wonderful! You can obviously take leftovers home. And there are other flavors & other breakfast offerings! But they are very well-known for their breakfast pancakes. Give it a try. I got 1 star less just because the wait was a while, unless you have reservations, and at that time, there were so many flies outside, so it wasnt pleasant to be whacking & swatting away:-(. Otherwise, you wont want to miss this place. Enjoy!!!
Expensive for diner food. It is very busy and I was understanding of the wait time as most places are short staffed. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette and just got cheese in it. I felt like the waitress rushed us through everything after we wait forever to be seated and to get our food. We felt pushed out the door. They were also not willing to split up our check between 4 people.
Called in advance to check on the wait time, was told there wasn’t currently a wait time. I was already on my way when I called, so generously I’ll say it took me 10 minutes to get there. Miraculously every parking spot was filled upon arrival with a spontaneous 25 minute wait. Host at the front should be a lot more careful with what they are communicating, I won’t be back.
This place is terrible. I waited over 40 minutes. The host was rude. The waitstaff is unfriendly. They sat people who I was in front claiming that it was because I was a two person party. While the restaurant was full of two people sitting at a both. Terrible.. run away.. and do not look back. The food sat on the window for 10 minutes.
I have read that the Original Steves Diner in fairport is not as good as the real original. I was pleasantly surprised at how great this location was. It is more spacious and the staff and food was just as perfect as any of the other locations Ive tried. You cant go wrong eating at any of the Steves diner locations, but this is my new personal favorite. I also have a gluten allergy and theyre always really good and helpful with that. Check out these gluten free strawberry cheesecake pancakes and the gluten free cannoli pancakes!!
Not a great 1st time experience. I have heard so much about Steves diner breakfast so I was very much looking forward to eating there. I ordered banana walnut French toast and what I got was banana bread with walnuts and bananas sprinkled on top. If you know anything about French toast you know its made with BREAD!! NOT CAKE!. It was not pleasurable to eat dessert in the morning. And just to be clear it does not specify anywhere on the description that it is made with crumbly banana cake instead of bread!!... I didnt think I had to ask if their French toast is made with bread...thats kind of a given with French toast...Weird!! And also waitress was rude and mumbled under her breath/ mask! Never came by once to check on us.
The original location in Penfield was already my favorite breakfast spot and I am thrilled to report that the Fairport location is just as great. Even in the first week everything is running smoothly and the food is fantastic. The pancakes are still massive and delicious. There was a short wait on a Saturday which also stays true to the original. If you need breakfast or diner food Steve’s is perfect. My only complaint is with the name. How can there be two “Original” Steve’s diners? I don’t know but I’ll deal with the language crime and enjoy them both.Update: We went again and it was even better the second time around. Also I turned my picture the right way.
This is our favorite go to breakfast place, and now lunch also. Their pancakes are ridiculously huge and delicious with tons of flavors and for a little extra you can get real maple syrup. Are sausage links are so good, juicy little sausages that Ive never seen anywhere else around. And now Im hooked on their Rubens for lunch. Everything is homemade the Corned Beef is lean and delicious sauerkraut swiss cheese and some Russian dressing oh, its far better than any deli in Rochester. Service is quick and pleasant, there are small tables and booths and a counter if youre in a hurry, rest rooms are clean and neat and the prices are very reasonable. Even the coffee is great and they have fresh squeezed orange juice for a little extra. Huge menu.
Potato pancakes are to die for... but when my 2 yr old started throwing up everywhere I asked a waitress 2 feet behind me for help and was ignored while a customer helped me and she yelled at him for grabbing 2 napkins... could not stay to finish my meal with my 5 children and was so upset at the staff but thankful for customers.
Best breakfast in Rochester without question. It is sometimes a wait to get a table, but that wait is always well worth it. I cant even point out the best thing on the menu since everything I have tried is fantastic.Give the The Village Style a try. It is delicious and not something you see available everywhere.
Ive been coming to this diner from time to time since I moved to NY because I think they have a great breakfast thats reasonably priced. Ive always had amazing service here, but today they went above and beyond. A lot of people talk the talk when it comes to supporting our veterans, but this establishment walks the walk. They made my whole week! Thank you for being an awesome spot!
Stopped in for breakfast. Fantastic variety on the menu! We opted for the big breakfast plates. I had the MAX, it was wonderful. My only regret was picking bacon over sausage because the sausage links were HUGE. The coffee was good, the staff was very friendly and everything was done very well for the Covid stuff. I highly recommend this place if you want great value for your money.
Lovley little diner with modern renovations that make it not only palatable for eating in but enjoying your time spent waiting for your food. The food is a little overpriced but its made up for by the excellent quality and outstanding service by the staff. They are quick to help you and correct any mistakes made. Hard not to leave with leftovers.
My wife and I love coming here for the occasional work lunch meetup together. We love breakfast foods and I tend to jump around on the menu a lot with each visit. I don’t think I’ve received a disappointing order yet. Their pancakes are HUGE (try the cannoli ones for something sweet but not too sweet), their omelettes are cooked to perfection, their eggs Benedict is great, (although I always get the hollandaise on the side bc it can be quite heavy), I love the tzatziki with their greek breakfast sandwich, and I highly recommend the lemon almond french toast! They are known for being this good however so expect to wait for a table during meal times.
Food is very good and plentiful. There are no short or full stack of pancakes. You get 1 or 2. Why you ask? Lets just say if you order 1 to go they put it in a medium size pizza box. Yes they are that big. If its your first time going I recommend checking out the menu online first. It can be very overwhelming. So many choices and its all delicious.
Waited outside in the hot sun for a table to open. As soon as it did they sat us, but we were still waiting for one member of our party to arrive. They informed us we had to go back outside and wait for our whole party to arrive, after theyd already seated us. That is extremely rude and unprofessional, and I will never spend another dime in this establishment. I recommend you dont either.
I love coming here! I started coming here when it first opened. Staff is always so pleasant and friendly to everybody that comes in, whether its for takeout or for dine in. Since the pandemic, I can truly attest that the staff is still as friendly and courteous and efficient as ever.Working in a restaurant environment during a pandemic is so challenging, especially when it is busy. You have to make sure that everything is clean, sanitized and accurate. The staff at original Steves Diner in Fairport do their very best to give great customer service even in these trying times.
The place was packed. Once we got our orders I understood why. The coffee is delicious. (I should mention that I put in both creamer and sugar but found that I reduced the amount) The pumpkin bread french toast was amazing. Two thick slices. I didnt need syrup. My dining partner was equally impressed with her meal.
Let me start by saying that the food is delicious! Ive never had anything that I didnt love. That being said, theres one server that is so unprofessional it boggles my mind. She acts, like she would rather be anywhere else, she doesnt write anything down, and she gets my order wrong every time I have her. Twice in a row Ive ordered rye toast with my omelet, and she brought me wheat. No problem. Usually! When I tell her, she reaches into my plate and takes the toast off and carries it away!! Who does that?! So gross, unsanitary, and unprofessional. I let it slide the first time, but yesterday I pulled my plate away and said, Ill keep this. She looked at me like I was crazy! She brought me new toast, but I still cant believe she tried to take the toast off my plate again!
Steves is always great and never disappoints! They have a full and varied menu for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner! The Love Cakes are just that, full of luscious love add ins. You can have bits of candy bars, fruit, and any other sweet treat that you crave, not to mention the Love Cakes are the size of a full platter!! If you like Cannolis, then you need to order the Cannoli Pancake for an extra special treat for yourself. You cant go wrong with anything at Steves, it has something for everyone!
The restaurant is OPEN! I had the most amazing pancake, that was about an inch wider than the plate, all the way around. My husband was good and ordered scrambled egg whites and wheat toast. We both had perfectly crisped bacon. Service is outstanding, prices are reasonable, and the clean, bright, friendly atmosphere is great too! Next visit, we will try lunch...and then maybe a Friday fish fry!
This was our first time here and we went with our family who had been several times. We were beyond pleased with our experience. The wait time for food was a little longer then we expected but the quality and value for cost was above and beyond what you get at other places. The pancakes are amazing. The plain was the right balance of vanilla with a touch of sweetness. We will be back.
ABSOLUTELY the best breakfast/food in the area! Close your eyes and pick randomly from the menu, you literally cannot go wrong! Everything is fantastic and out of this world! The service and staff are all welcoming and polite plus they will always make sure that everything you need is taken care of quickly and correctly. If you havent tried it get over here ASAP. They operate so flawlessly that if theres a line out the door youll still get seated quickly.
Great place for breakfast and good breakfast options. Can be very busy in the morning, but a bit slower around brunch hours. Fresh, good, fun food and their staff is well organized. Large food portions, good coffee with different sweet & plain creamers. Will have lots for left overs. Park to the side and back of the building - more parking spots.
We had a fantastic breakfast on opening morning of this brand new restaurant. Everything is sparkling clean and the service was excellent. We tried the huge pancake - (you definitely only need one)and eggs. Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. We will definitely be back!
HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE A KIDS MENU??...been here on multiple occasions and the food is always great. They have amazing pancakes that are obnoxiously huge. However on this trip I decided to bring my 3yr old who loves pancakes, well to my surprise there is no childrens size pancakes or any sort of kids menu AT ALL!!!....how do you consider yourself a family diner and for that alone you lose 2 stars. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND ADDING A KIDS MENU, GUESS WHAT PEOPLE HAVE KIDS!!!
I was surprised to see I hadnt written a review here because I have said so many great things about Steves on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and my blog! The prices have gone up a bit, I assume it is COVID related, and they are a little less likely to give you extra syrups, and other packets without you really needing them.I will however still tell everyone: Try them out! The lemon almond french toast is to dye for, the waffles are amazing, the pancakes (ALL flavors) are enormous and great! You cannot get a better breakfast! Even with the small hike in prices this food is still better priced than most places and just keeps so many customers wanting more!Remember... The pancakes are enough to feed 4 small children so if you are going for pancakes bring a healthy appetite!
Steve’s remains our favorite spot for breakfast. The restaurants are clean, the food is consistent, and the staff is friendly and always accommodating. Of course we go for their LOVECAKES (dinner plate sized pancakes) which you can customize with one or more of your favorite additions of fruit, nuts or chocolates. We were delighted when they built in Fairport. We now walk there and back to relieve ourselves of some of the guilt of our over indulgences. For those that aren’t into pancakes they have a large variety of breakfast fare. I promise, you won’t go away hungry. Highly recommended, but be prepared to wait to be seated as Steve’s popularity has soared in the recent years.
Definitely one of the best places to shave breakfast food. Their pancakes are humongous and delicious, I love how they have a single giant pancake instead of three small ones like other restaurants have. This is a great place to take the family for Sunday brunch or a Saturday afternoon breakfast, however they close early afternoon, so make sure you go before 2pm on a weekend.
If you love amazing food in huge portions for a very low price, then Steves will be a perfect match for you! If you dont, you should still come here for the atmosphere and quick service. I love to bring my kids here and the variety of food makes it different everytime. Cannot recommend enough!
Dont come here with kids!!! Hostess asked us to wait in a seating area at the back of the restaurant since the front door was busy (totally understandable) but once we got back there, we were promptly told by a waitress that we were in the way of the kitchen door and wound up shoved against the emergency exit while we waited for our table. Once a table became available, the hostess and waitress said that my
Food is decent, even above par for the area.Would prefer if they had milk alternatives (almond or soy milk), especially for coffee. We are giving one star for the service our waitress (Dina, according to the front desk as she never introduced herself) gave us.Abysmal is too weak a word to describe our experience. We waited for over 20 minutes to be addressed by our server after being sat at our table. She was curt and unfriendly in her demeanor and mannerisms.0/10 want to experience again.
Outstanding! After my usual place closed in the village, we discovered Steves. While the seating is COVID affected (every other booth), it was a minimal wait on a week day for lunch. Each of us got a omlette. Coffee was good, omlette was outstanding. Service was great. Highly recommend! (But avoid week days around noon.... I want to get a booth!)
As always, this is my most FAVORITE place for breakfast. Huge, delicious pancakes that are light and fluffy and excellent eggs Benedict and omelettes. I guarantee that anyone that eats here will absolutely LOVE IT! Glad there back after selling their place in Penfield!
This place has never disappointed. The food and service is great! Such an extensive menu....if you cant find something you like theres something wrong!Probably the only downfall is the wait to get in on cold mornings as there is not really a lot of waiting area room. Would love to see them use a texting system where you could wait in your car and they text when your table is ready.
Wouldn’t let us sit at our table because only 4 of the 5 members of our party were there. Instead they would rather let us stand next to the cold door as they sit other parties of 4 and 5 before us, long after we had been waiting. Worked in food service for years and would never make customers stand around when they could just go to their table. This is the DEFINITION of POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Will not be returning... plenty of other breakfast places around that treat their customers with respect. Highly recommend Mama Lors, T’s, basically anywhere but here.
Really disappointed the last two times weve gone here. Food was incredible as it always is. But the time we went last month was a bad experience. We understand theres always a wait, and were used to that. What were not used to, is after waiting, being ignored by our waitress, and having her take 2 other orders of people who sat after us, before even acknowledging our table. When we finally spoke to her, she made a snarky remark about seeing us and said shed come over in a second. Today, we were given a 25 minute estimate, and after 40 minutes we were told, theres a party of 9 in front of us (which that party wasnt even all there prior to us arriving) and theres no way for us to estimate further. As previously working in hospitality, you have to manage those wait times better. Will only be going to the original Steves from now on.
I called to place an order, and before I could finish the girl who picked up the phone cut me off and said we dont do that on weekends and hung up the phone. Very unprofessional! I was thrilled to try this place. But after that I will take my business somewhere else.
This was my first time here and boy am i impressed. My girlfriend and I have been going to Rikkis diner in the village of Fairport for 15 years but i think we found our new place. I remember this being a abandoned building for most of my life and finally someone bought it up and redid the whole building. So anyways Steves diner was great. Everything is nice and new and clean. Very well lit. Great personalities on their employees. Prices were cheap compared to most places. And dude the pancakes were literally 16 in in diameter lol wow . Definitely coming back
This is the best diner in Rochester. Not opinion, but objective fact. There is no other diner that comes close. They have a GREAT variety of options, especially if you like Eggs Benedict (about 25 different varieties, the Slap Your Face variety with Chipotle and jalapeños is killer). Their pancakes are literally bigger than the plates and you can get all sorts of inclusions, and you can even have a pancake prepared like a cannoli, which is admittedly very sweet but incredibly delicious. They have fresh squeezed OJ. Their homemade hash will make you believe there is a God.
Been several times now and havent had a bad meal yet. I try to check out various menu items but Im currently stuck on the light Belgian waffle with bananas and pecans. So light and fluffy. Its always busy but worth waiting for a table...the place is bright and clean with a friendly staff
I originally reviewed this as 5 stars but got my heart broken by a place my girlfriend and I go to at least 5 times a month.. They dont do carryout on weekends..I explained how my girlfriend has the flu and didnt want to risk getting other people sick and how I wanted to surprise her with her favorite breakfast but the girl who answered the phone just said sorry and hung up..I expected better from a place we love to frequent very often.
Listen!..i never felt so uncomfortable in my I walks in I jus get stared down by all this white people lady was taking her sweet time to help me..but as soon a young white couple walk in she helps them before I can say thank youThey need to jus put whites only in the front I will never go there again

2022-05-03Im picky with pancakes. They have awesome pancakes. Nice, fluffy and cake like. Biggest variety to pick from including gluten free. I was pleasantly surprised with Irish cream creamers for my coffee. Scrambled eggs are on the dry side but still good. I dont care for the hash browns but my husband likes them. They are very popular and can have a longer wait time. Pagers work outside in your car if you prefer to wait there or stop in one of the other shops. My pager worked in Sew Creative. It is definitely worth the wait. Friendly staff.

2022-05-24What a cute place!! It was a very busy Saturday morning but we were able to sit right away at the counter. Unfortunately no alcohol (I had a hankering for a bloody mary) but the waitress said they were working on getting a liquor license. It was so busy, with so many people working in the kitchen and in the dining room and it was a well oiled machine. I had the hangover breakfast which was home friend, eggs (I got poached), chili, cheese and a side of toast. I could’ve done without the beans in the chili but to each his own. My husband had the dumpster which is basically a garbage plate with eggs and he was very pleased. The love cakes look huge and amazing, as so their many Beni’s so those are on my list for our return. Highly recommend, and definitely bring your kids here!

2022-04-19Wonderful service and excellent food! I had their Irish Benedict and both the corned beef hash and hollandaise sauce were AMAZING! Plus that massive pancake! Would definitely recommend as a Sunday Brunch Location 🙂

2022-04-04The signage is terrible and needs to be cleaned up for ease of viewing when driving by. Unless you knew it was there you would never knew that was a diner. I just happened to have business elsewhere in the plaza and saw that and decided to try it. I almost left the plaza to go somewhere else until I just stumbled across this diner. Potentially losing them business. Very clean atmosphere. Great selection on the menu for breakfast. Oktoberfest Benedict was really tasty. I think it was three eggs over cheese and sauerkraut, Dijon mustard on a muffin. Filling. Decent presentation. Very quick to seat. Waitress was very fast and very welcoming. Not extremely busy at 9:00 in the morning.

2022-03-27Food is amazing here! Had a Strawberry Cheesecake Pancake with my breakfast, it was enormous and delicious! Some options are a bit pricey here(Orange Juice) but overall love going to Steves Diner!

2021-10-27This used to be great! I have spent a ton of money eating here since it opened. Recently in about the last three months the food has gone downhill. Portions are smaller, less of the good stuff. One of my favorites was the Strawberry cheesecake pancake. It looked so great coming out so I took a picture of it, and Im glad I did. Fast forward to this week. This was about the third time in a row portions kept getting smaller. I get it times are tough with the supply chain etc..., but why are they still charging the same price? (over $10) Anyway, they appear to be resting on their laurels which is disappointing. I have a picture of before and now. You be the judge.

2021-12-28Very busy, but the wait time wasnt bad as their kitchen is quick. Family says the MASSIVE pancakes, french toast, and breakfast sandwiches were amazing.
