First of all, they do not endorse the mask mandate. Some cashiers and costumers are not using it and are loudly coughing. The cashiers have a horrible attitude, but it’s understandable considering how loud and annoying the costumers are. It’s just a mess. The meat is nasty and rotten, the cashiers are not trained to do the lottery. Worst supermarket ever.

Store is fully stocked. They got it all .manager special means cheaper price. No more long lines..prices are now more higher than usual. Again price are going higher and higher .and more higher

Usually its pretty busy but this evening it was not. Got in and out! I give it a four today. Many holiday treats and some decor.Open early in the mornings at 7am if you need to get some things very early before your day begins and stays open until 10pm M-S, 9pm on Sundays if you need to make a quick food/beverage run in the evenings.
I went here to pick up a few things, but got home put everything away so 2 hours later about to cook the turkey cutlets and the smell was horrible when I opened them, ended up taking it back. I will never buy any meat from there again.
The meat department is the stuff of dreams. There I said it. I love being able to score big bags of goat or chicken chunks for next to nothing. The selection is impressive. The produce is ok and pretty cheap. All in all, great.
The staff are always nice its a really big supermarket.
Its uncomfortable to shop narrow isles especially where the dairy products are kept. Need to check the meat to insure not old or spoil. Oh they make you pay up front for sandwiches then you go over to get it made, A bit expensive compared to the local supermarkets for meats and other products.
First time at supermarkets but very good first visit very helpful and the gentleman at the counter took time to make sure my egg purchase were not damaged..that was a plus👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
Went in to play the New York Daily Lottery in which their machine had an issue with the scanner to play my tickets again, as it also wouldnt let my tickets be played again by inserting in the top especially after standing in the same line as customers purchasing food for quite some time when a male employee came behind the counter and IMMMMMMMMEDDDIATTTTEELY took a known regular customer before me that just walked in 😡 and told me that the other guy was first not to mention the fact that when the machine finally kicked out my ticket along with 2 other mistake tickets, the Front end manager came and purchased them saying, If these tickets held the line up for this long....!!! She ended up with MY tickets!🤬 That Western Beef: NEVER AGAIN!!!

Not the best western beef around they should clean up the store better than what it is now and kill those flies. The western beef in Long Island is way cleaner so I shop out there.

Unfortunately Western Beef has always been the most expensive option in my neighborhood. Up there with Pioneer. I only usually go for the bags of veggies/fruits that are 1.50. Even before the pandemic, they were the same way. They sadly do not know the neighborhood.
Western Beef is a decent supermarket for grocery essentials and what not. The customer service is good for what its worth. Customers themselves tend to be a little impatient especially when waiting to check out. All in all its worth checking out. I would still rather hold on to my membership at either BJs, Costco or anything similar.
At the time of my visit at this supermarket the carts were not sanitized and the disinfecting wipes were no where to be found. I asked the cart attendant if they were cleaning or had any kind of cleaning solutions and he said no. The seafood department has a very strong seafood odor. Only two cashiers were open at 3 pm. My 2nd star is for the freshly baked bread and baked goods. The most important issues nowadays is definitely cleanliness and disinfecting.

Has everything I needed on my shopping list. Very clean and bright. My first time here and I will definitely return. Check out was a little slow, but receipt/prices were all accurate.
Western Beef has become a part of my life. It’s a one stop shop for everything grocery. I go there literary every week. The beautiful thing about this place is that their prices are super moderate. The workers are also very friendly and always willing to help. The store is sparkling clean and smells fresh. It’s pretty close to the road and can be easily noticed from a vehicle in normal traffic. There’s also wheelchair accessible entrance and parking for the differently able.
Not bad I like the warehouse environment and huge selection of food. What I dont like is being treated like a thief making me check my bag in with security. I also dont like the pricing structure $3 for $10 ok Im no rocket scientist but whats the regular price. If not for those two things I would have given 5 stars.

This Western Beef location had no lines to get in and the lines for checknout move very quickly thankfully. The produce and bakery items are always fresh. I am a particular fan of their garlic knots and onion rolls. They carry staples from Latin to Jamaican to Haitian varieties. I can rarely find some of these items at my local markets. Shelves are filled and neatly stocked.
Very good supermarket in the Bronx that I frequent when in the neighborhood. Produce and meats are fresh, prices are very competitive and stock is replenished on a daily basis. Clean. Decent sized parking area. Would definitely recommend shopping at this location.
If you dont mind waiting in line now and then, prices are good and place looks clean. Besides the lines now and then on busy weeks its a great place to shop all you need
The place is clean and organized everytime I go. There just seems to always be a line at the cashier because there always seems to be just one working. One time the only checkout available was at customer service. Management must be having issues because the cashiers were friendly and had great customer service however were complaining about their schedule amongst each other.
This was the most ghetto place Ive ever been. The cashier had a customer who was her friend and she proceeded to talk to her and move so slowly for about 20 minutes when the line had 10 or more people in it. When I said something she told me if I did not like it that I should get on another line. The supervisor was standing right there and she agreed with her. I will never come to this place again. What happened to customer service and expedient service? Thats what you get in the ghetto!

Prices are excellent, as well as the variety. Although, it’s very hard to get around because of stocking staff. Most importantly, the customer service is a nightmare, even for “New York City.” The cashiers are very rude and seem to forget that you’re spending your money there. Absolutely no appreciation for your business.
Its a shame because the sandwiches are soo good , however the employees working in the deli clearly do not want to make any sandwiches, every time a customer ask for one they look as though they either do not know how or they don’t want to. Also very lazy as when you ask for something simple like onions, they claim they do not have onions, or they simply will disregard and not put it on the sandwich. when it is a supermarket and onions are placed right in front of the department. And onions were always available when previous employees worked in that departmentA few times I’ve ordered a sandwich and was sent to the register to pay for it, when I return to pick the sandwich up, the employees have taken a few more orders and have not even started to make the sandwich. Very disappointing.
The meat dept has good special prices on ribs and chops good for BBQ but the bags are 1.08 bring your own bags
Taking into account that this supermarket is in the Bronx, it has all the necessary items that one needs in the kitchen at home. In the morning, it is less crowded and one can search the aisles unobstructed. It is a well-stocked store that is clean and appealing. There is plenty of parking for those that drive . I am glad that they have the air conditioning system at full force during these hot days in July.
I live in Manhattan, but go there to do my grocery shopping. They have everything I look for and there prices are great! The only reason I couldnt give it 5 stars is because they never have enough cash registers open so the wait on line is long.
The staff are rude and do not care. We asked the security guard with long hair a question, standing doing nothing he replied rudely and carelessly I dont know Its OK if you dont know, just show that you care or even pretend to care. The cashier also didnt give a crap either, she put her hands towards my face asking me to wait. I do not know if she did this to be rude, but it was. I mean these workers are probably getting paid minimum wage, what you expect. However the store is clean and has good prices, and there is a big parking lot. I will try my best to never go back there again.
This Western Beef is a Full Service Market, Everthing in thier prospective places. The prices are moderate to expensive. They definitely have the hard to find ingredients for certain recipes. I like it here, the staff is attentive and helpful and the food is fresh and well labeled. 😁

Do they ever answer the phone? I just bought a rotisserie chicken with the wings missing! I try not to come here but I was in the neighborhood and needed dinner. They have rude funny looking cashiers. The premade food in the deli taste horrible because they dont cover it well. I dont want to say its a bad store but some of these employees dont help matters. Now Im missing chicken wings on my chicken... Lawd the Bronx is the worst with treating the customer with respect.smh

Dont agree with the receipts people get after shopping. Its not clear wiped out cant see the product you. If u want to exchange something it cant be read receipts should be white paper not green wax paper that doesnt get the ink of the register..
Smelly. Indifferent staff that won’t acknowledge you. Only two registers open at peak hours. Messy areas. Some rotten produce mixed in with fresh. Expired foods on shelf. But really, the smell in some areas is a huge turn off. I don’t even go into the meat section because it smells foul. Really need to step it up, the prices aren’t that great and more competition is coming to the neighborhood. For now, Trader Joe’s is worth the haul on the subway to avoid the Beef.
Very big. Kind of like a factory setting. Hot food ready. Can get very over crowded. Some polite check out personel. Except this one ghetto chick who acts like you are outside her house checking out. But every one else and things I can give two thumbs up.
Its a nice and big place, but if you dont pay attention, you may get scammed on sale prices (as with most places...). Be observant and persistent when you feel youve been wronged, because they will get you at least once. Sale means sale, but they will try to fleece you to save THEMSELVES money. Report your sale/coupon woes to consumer affairs.
Clean polite good selection of products and meats.but they dont enforce the 10 item only! Lane.today 3 people were ahead of me with much more than 10 items .cashier says nothing.

The supermarket is beautiful, they have remodeled it. All items are well-arranged in their areas. The bakery is great, they always have fresh bread. invite you to do your shopping in this supermarket.
Just hulmilate me of stealing,when no one was at the baggage area to collected my bag so I proceeded to get shandy carib/ginger,unfortunately there was none on the shelf so didnt even spend 5minutes inside,while heading out I was stop and asked to show receipt for contents in my bag,I had a receipt for target were I was coming from but I have three item that I pick up at a fruit store that I didnt have receipt for but,all they should do is check there cameras to proof something,I felt humiliated and will never shop there again and Im going to talk to my lawyer about this and I work to hard for stealing,I do no want this to happen to someone else.

I dont know why I even bother going to WB. The lines are super long due to sometimes unfriendly customers and restless cashiers who move slower than molasses.Bring your extra dose of patience to deal with the lines, unruly customers with their kids.
I will share the history of western beef thirty years ago. Western beef came to our community in the north bronx, I was working for the city of New York the agency was called manpower. My community organizations was Tremont community council, I was a liaseion specialist in housing we were living in a violent era drug infestation and people my age were dieing every day come in a violent manner. I sat at the ground table where community affairs were discussing, MATTERS like acceptance of western beef having a business in our community. Documents of agreements where agreed upon and signed, the management agreement with western beef was to provide families with bulk food products and packaging western beef Complied for a few years and then broke the agreement it is controlled by the mafia.western does not keep they word, can not be trusted.
Check Expiration date on your food item, especially in the bakery department.
Very clean and updated, awesome produce, especially for this part of the city. However if you call them to ask a question they do not answer with hold on a moment or let me try to connect you. The call is transferred immediately without comment and the department NEVER answers. Its very frustrating when you are trying to run a business like mine. This means we have to send someone over there to answer our question if something is in stock.
I have been to this Western Beef a lot of times and promised not to go there anymore. Today I bought Honey Buns and it just so happens that they are expired (SELL BY NOV. 22, 2017) today is the 30th of November. This product is 7 days past due and I just realized that. Its happened to me before with packed cheese, also expired. Customer service sucks too.I will never go back.
Its ok, even whit the rain today Saturday December 5th, the workers and the rest of the staff are dealing ok with the situation. They finally did a great refill that was needed

Today was a good day it had a lot of sales I took great opportunity in that today and the store was not crowded I was in and out.
The store on Morris & 140th Street has the worst customer service. Management doesn’t care about employees and it’s customers. Cashiers all have nasty attitudes. Spills, broken bottles can sit on the floor for days. If you mention it to an employee they continue to do whatever it is they’re doing (usually just talking amongst themselves) & ignore you & the situation. They freeze the slice bread & sell outdated & expired products. The fresh fish section smells like rotten fish. The parking lot is another problem, cab drivers block the exit from supermarket to the street, shopping carts are left all over. Drivers don’t follow the arrows driving in or out of parking lot.
The meats are spoiled and they mask them .. check the dates they are always a day away from when you buy them. No more meats from these supermarkets ! I cant take it anymore .. our community treats us like crap and feel we cannot go else where because the low income dont have means to get other places. WRONG ! PSA: In order to expect more you have to demand more ... stop going to these supermarkets giving our children and families bad food !!! Im done !
Didnt have a good time shopping there. Sale prices didnt match register prices and when I went to customer services to correct the issue, they gave a hard time for the adjustment.

Big and usually well stocked. The aisles are a little tight but its all good.
I love the supermarket. The only problem I have is the way theye label the aisles. For instance, they have Dominican, Mexican, and Jamincan food. That is misleading, there are lots of Hispanics culture that shop there, why not replace it with Hispanic Aisles. I am not Dominican, Mexican or Jamincan but Im Hispanic. Lots of people stop shopping there because of that.
The food here is unsanitary. Often stale. Experienced a bottle of water that burned when I tried drinking it, like it had caustic chemicals leaching it. I have reported to 311.

This is the third pack of meat I have brought from Western Beef that has been spoiled. My most recent experience is some ham I brought took it out the freezer let it unthawed and can’t cook it. The smell is outrageous this makes no sense stop selling bad meat. Nobody wants salmonella! And this is your neighbor with your people stop it selling meat u cannot defrost because it’s bad.
Price wasnt bad couldve been better especially when youre packing barrels to shipped.
When I was inside the meat department last month. Cant remember the date . Only whenI ask the butcher behind the counter about chicken wings . He had a very bad disposition about himself. Told me he couldnt help me because he was by himselfthat day and he was not going in the backto get me chicken wings . So I went to theButcher shop farther down and bought my items there.
This super market is ok but what they need is more cashiers so you dont have to wait so long. Prices are good and the meats are fresh compared to other supermarkets.
Please inform your employees that when they slice cold cuts they shouldnt use the same gloves that they just use windex with to clean their counters. CHANGE them!! Walked out and didnt buy. #HealthHazard please customers be aware. Very picky about my food. Just saying

I NEVER COME HERE, BUT TODAY WE CAME AND THE FLYER STATES GREEN PLANTAINS 10 FOR $1 WITH $20 PRODUCE PURCHASE. I HAD OVER $100 IN FOOD ITEMS. THE CASHIER (VERY RUDE) SAID THE PLANTAINS ARE ONLY THAT PRICE IF YOU BUY $20 OF PRODUCE... I SAID YES WE HAVE PRODUCE A TON, SHE SAID NO ONLY VEGETABLES. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO THE FLYER WHERE IT DOES NOT SPECIFY WHAT YOU NEED TO BUY IN ORDER TO GET THAT PRICE. MANAGER DID NOT EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS HAPPENING. JUST A WHOLE LOT OF FRUSTRATION SO I RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE TO GO TO ANOTHER WESTERN BEEF PREFERABLY NOT IN THE SOUTH BRONX WHERE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FALSE ADVERTISEMENTS WILL NOT HAPPEN.
Great variety, pretty clean, love the walk in frozen section, the best supermaket of the other chains within a 12 block radius.

It was a horrible experience today November 14th 2018 the cashier was on a cell phone the whole time one cashier left with a cell phone on her ear the other cashier came on to relieve her her phone ring she started talking on the cell phone no one said excuse me or I apologize they act like they was home relaxing or somewhere on the beach they was definitely not showing that they was at work,

Western beef super market is good me and my siblings go their with our mom and we get lots I good food just yesterday there was a 40 percent off on eggs if you bought things costing more than 40 dollars so 146 turned into 135 dollars
When you enter a place especially a supermarket ask to see if they have a bathroom and from there you decide to shop there. I was in the Mt.haven areaMorris Avenue November 25, 2019 and that bathroom was disgusting. I don’t care if you did not have time. A bathroom and your kitchen is the most priority place to keep clean.
Western beef has been consistently accessible during this pandemic. Although they dont have any organic selections its easy to get in and out.
This western beef isnt my 1st choice alot of nothing your looking for and messy areas. The only reason to go here is if theres nothing else open and u happen to be in this area and decide to roll the dice.

This place is racist because the majority of the people working in the market are Dominicans and perhaps 80% of the people working there are illegals with documents they bought here or in Puerto Rico. There are more illegal Dominicans in this country than Mexicans and at least Mexicans are hard working people, however when Dominicans come into this country legally or illegally there first job is to sell Drugs.

The renovations on this western beef is amazing and the prices are great.It was my place for summer BBQs and I stopped by recently to get beer for a Chriss party and the change is outstanding.

THE OTHER ITEMS WERE ALREADY AT HOME , OF WHICH IT WAS DECIDED BY MYSELF AND A FAMILY MEMBER TO BE , BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE , MIXED VEGGIES , AND ICED TEA TO COMPLETE THE MEAL ! IVE BEEN CRAVING THIS MEAL FOR SOME TIME NOW , SO I FIGURED THAT ID / WED STEP OUTSIDE , TAKE ABOUT A FIFTEEN MINUTE WALK FROM WHERE WE WERE TO PICK UP THE ITEM IN QUESTION .... OVERALL MY VISIT WENT OFF WITHOUT A HITCH ... WENT BACK TO OUR CURRENT RESIDENCE AND PREPPED THE INGREDIENTS TO BRING THE MEAL INTO FRUITION ...... I ALSO ENJOYED THE WALK , AS THE WEATHER WAS PRETTY DECENT ......

They do not have shopping carts in shelter when it is raining which makes shopping with wet carts a plain In the neck also I couldnt find any baskets available
Usually this app works like a charm but recently Everytime that I use it the GPS losses the signal making me have to figure out what way to go myself. Needs to be fixed.
I give one star price cheaper in the Bronx I find that out

This place have a make over, it has more lights, more spacious, bigger and better than the last time I went in a few years ago.
Meat department has really good sales and the meats are very fresh. Butcher will cut the meat to your liking.

2022-04-28I absolutely love this supermarket!! Not only is there a huge Neverending selection of items!!! Its probably one of the most clean and organized markets I have ever stepped into!! The meat section is awesome and produce section is filled with fresh fruits and vegetables all the time!!! I travel from midtown all the way here because of the deals and selection.

2022-03-25Make sure you get here before 9 o clock. They start rushing everyone out the store and close it by 930. This really isnt a big deal but when Im looking at your hours online and on the sign that say 10 p.m. and yall consistently close early I think its an issue. 4 times I have come before 10 o clock. Today I came at exactly 930 p.m. I made sure to bc I know how they are and I was still denied access.

2022-04-12I what to share that i have not much to say about the food or products. But to say that I lost my phone in the supermarket. Im so impress with the staff they keep a tight nit on how they keep it together. I really want to thank you Western Beef for finding my phone an keep it till came back to retive my phone.

2022-07-17Not what I expected! I thought I was excited to have found a grocery store that I could easily get to and purchase “normal” sized grocery items as opposed to big box store items..well I was wrong! Sort of! This store is cramped and aisles are truly narrow. Reminds me of just a larger “bodega”. Prices on shelves were not really marked clearly, snacks were out dated (UTZ Special pretzels) but still on the shelves, the frozen corn in the open freezer were “freezer burnt” and had a dead fly stuck to a bag of them. The labels on the meat were not really legible as if the printer was running out of ink! All in all I won’t be returning! I will need to travel further north to find a decent grocery store because the south Bronx ain’t it!

2019-10-14I went to pick up a rotisserie chicken to take on my flight to CA. There chickens are always juicey and ready to go and eat at my destination. Western Beef is the largest supermarket in the South Bronx. WB is clean and offers a wide variety of fresh produce and meats. Their produce looks bright and appetizing for that perfect salad. Western Beef offers a variety of products at variable price points. I found 4 new types be of Old Bay seasonings, I never knew existed.

2022-01-26Great place to shop. The only complaint I have about this Supermarket is that a lot of the items they have dont have the price tabs on the shelves. Or the items are placed incorrectly on the shelf according to the price tab below. So sometimes you dont know the price of items because there is no price tab below the shelf.

2016-12-30I usually keep my bottle and recycle them myself. On December 30 I took then to Western Beef located at 301 Morris Ave, Bronx, NY 10451 for recycling. The total worth 17.25. I waited in line to cash in. When the manager after long a delays finally is ready to check my tickets. She informed me that she can only pay out $12.75 per person per day. I was handed 12.25 and told I have to come back the next day . I agree if this is a company policy to only pay out $12.75 per person per day it should be posted at the recycling machine not at the register. The is pour advertising from Western Beef management. Either you are recycling or you are not if western Beef can not handle the recycling they just need to close it down. Thumbs down for Western Beef on recycling.They dont even deserve a single star in my part.
