I was so impressed!!! It was beautiful. The animals were amazing and obviously in great condition and well cared for. But what really surprised me was how clean everything was! Not a scrap of paper on the ground, and the bathrooms were clean! With the amount of people there...thats alot of work!!! It is well worth taking a day to go there. I loved it!!!
If you want to experience the monorail but not have to queue for up to 1.5 to 2 hours, then you need to get to the park earlier at the weekend (10am slot at weekends) or quieter days during the week. We were first in the park on Saturday, went straight there and managed to be at the front of the queue. When we had finished it, the queue was already at 30 minutes. It is worth it though, lasting roughly 20 minutes, a chance to sit and enjoy some fine views and of course the animals. Of course what you get to see is an element of luck depending on where animals are. We got to a rhino, lion, elephant, mountain goats amongst some other beautiful animals. The experience comes with a guide who talks about the animals in the way round.
I have done the Monorail a hundred times but today out driver Justin was awesome. He got everyone in a real fun mood, he shouted out essential workers, he called out different locations to identify where people were visiting on and was real informative. Everyone was talking about him when we got off. Again an awesome experience and one of my favorite part of the zoo. The line was very long but moved real fast so it wasnt a bother.
After 40 minutes on line, about 20 minutes on the monorail was a good break off the feet. A little dated and farther away from the herds but good enough for first time visitors. The lone red panda on his tree perch was sleeping, as it was the previous 3 visits. Not as good as the drive through safari at great adventure or the one in Disney, but good experience anyway.
I was impressed all the animals were visible. The ride itself was a nice change from just walking by . The ride is accompanied by a Zoo worker explaining each enclosure and where the animal is located for your view. Very enjoyable day at the Zoo. Definitely need all day + . Well maintained and fun for all ages.
If you go early, there is no line. Very organized and polite staff. Once youre on the rail car every seat is a good one. Very informative rail car conductor. She gave us fact about the animals as we were passing them and it goes slow enough to observe all the animals on the trail. Overall I recommend it.
I so in joy it was so relaxing i need to relax the workers they were very nice and they do thier job excellent.tge views in the monorail was so cool to see all these animals up close.i want to go back before winter everyone had mask and kept 6 feet away we still in joy walking around it was a great day for me.
The only reason behind giving 4 stars for this lovely monorail is the time that we get to see and admire the animals. The train moves slowly and there is not enough time to click pictures of animals. Especially for photo freaks, thats a light disappointment. But the ride itself is exciting for both kids and adults covering the Asian animals. The habitat almost looks like a real jungle and not a zoo. Well planned and maintained.
Very nice ride in the Bronx zoo. Can learn allot on the ride. Can be a long wait time especially on weekends, holidays and free Wednesdays. Parking is costly if you dont have season passes. It is in the center of the park with camel ride and a cafe near by. There is a carriage Park for strollers and such near by
Bring binoculars. Most of the animals we saw migrated to the far end of the exhibit. When we did get closer an animal the conductor didnt stop long enough for anyone to enjoy. The monorail train cars are well maintained and clean but like the other trains in NY, the conductors voice cut out most of the time.
One of the best exhibitions in the Bronx Zoo. In warmer months there is an elephant and a beautiful tiger on display. Rhino and horses plus another half dozen or so sections. The ride takes you over the river twice.Lines are shotest in the morning as the Zoo is opening and cooler days in the fall.
Its Beautiful, you get a ticket and Stand on the line for the Monorail . The line is long ,but it moves fast. There train is pretty long and Clean the have a few of them. Then the driver of the monorail drives slow and tell you everything about the Animals, trees, and branches. I Learned a lot . This would be good for Children too . Theres no seatbelts so you or your child has to stay seated at all times, but you can still see. If you go on a Wednesday its free but when you go inside you cant see all the Animals unless you pay $14 and some change you could see everything without paying extra, this is a Good as Deal. Yes you can ride the monorail without buyijng another ticket.
We love the Bronx Zoo. We have the membership which is worth it. Get the membership and parking ($199 +$30) and you’ll find yourself getting sick of the Bronx Zoo (what a luxury!!!). When going into the Bronx Zoo there are several entrances. The Southern Blvd entrance is nice and close to the part of the zoo where all the activities happen. So park there if you want to be near the center area where the seals are, the children’s zoo, and the main store. We personally like parking in the Asia Parking lot. If you enter the Bronx Parkway entrance, instead of turning left into the parking lot, go straight and through the gates. After showing your membership card, or paying for entrance, keep driving all the way to the end. You’ll see the Wild Asia Monorail to your left. When you reach the parking area in the end, find a spot and unload your stroller, etc, then walk in.
I went on a sunday, the line was maybe 30 to 40 minutes long. The ride was different, its a monorail but you face the side and the operator tells you what youre seeing. I you dont always get to see what youre suppose to though, understandably so. The line... so long... for something educational...

2022-05-30Long line minimum 30mins wait. Make sure you use bathroom before getting online and park the stroller.Should go as early as possible towards mid to end of day...it gets packed.Gives great view of animals in the enclosures. Kids enjoy it.Sit down and keep hand inside monorail otherwise, you will get yelled at by the operator; lose a limb or worse. Safety is priority.

2020-08-02This less than 20 min ride is a must go in the zoo. You get to see a bunch of animals in the habitats from a monorail train. The driver showcases the animals really well and makes the ride relaxing and educational. Very popular so make this the first stop and go as early as possible to avoid the long line.

2019-08-30Taking the monorail is a lovely experience and offers a different perspective of the Bronx Zoo. It is fun to suspend belief for the ride and imagine you are traveling throughout the jungles traveling over the river, and seeing animals in the wild. Even if the line is looking when you get there, it moves quickly and you can pretend you are explorers!

2019-07-12This is a great start to your zoo trip. If youre a member you can park down by the Asia section and it literally a 2 minute walk from your car. If youre not a member its a great resting point on your trek thru the zoo. And be sure to grab the kids a stuffed animal from the gift shop. My kids get a new one every time were here. Ya they basically have the whole zoo cause were here so much.

2019-08-31The Monorail has always been one of my favorite things to do at the Bronx Zoo. Its relaxing, and a nice reprieve from the sun. If you are far from the monorail and dont want to talk, take the shuttle. It stops in Asia, and leaves you very close to it. It also stops in Congo. And an added bonus, the camels are in Asia too! The camel ride is an additional cost. Yesterday we paid $8 for a ride. Its expensive, considering you walk around on the camel only once, but its the Wildlife Conservation Society, so the money you spend at the zoo goes to a great cause.

2021-06-02Worth the wait. The ride is long, and there are a ton of animals to see.

2019-09-18It was a great experience roaming in mono rail. The travel time is around 20 minutes, although its a great experience but its highly depends on the mood of animals and your luck. If you are lucky all animals will be out and you can get the wonderful experience. Monorail is included in total experience ticket or else you have to purchase ticket of 6$ per person. This section of zoo is having food hubs.Mono rail is kid friendly as well but as far as i remember this section of zoo was not wheelchair accessible.Go there and have fun. Its a good place to go.

2018-09-06A monorail its a great idea and if riding one at the zoo is all you want then this is fine. It was a disappointment after that because there are few animals to actual see and many times there animals were so far away there was no enjoyment. Whoever designed the guard rails made sitting in the front row very bad, blocking views. I felt bad for my parents and I also saw others quickly change seats to the back row because of it.
