The decor is beautiful and calming.Staff was very nice! My friend left his to go and the waitress ran out to give it to us. That was super cool. Thanks!Sushi could have been a bit more fresh , not so well prepared either. Especially for the price.Im a bit more economically wise than most, so you may disregard the price comment. Plus, prices in the area are very low, and they are the only sushi ive seen so far. Supply and demand.I would return, so this is not a negative review by any means.
Sushi was good but Tempura was not my thing (it was my first time eating it). The rice was good, the presentation of the plate was good. Cleanliness of the place was 7 out 10. The employees were not nice at all while the lady was taking the order from me the chef or cook came and took the paper in a bad way from her hands without she finishing with our order. He was so impatient. They close at 10 and it was still 9:30 and the came to our table and start cleaning without us finish and ask for us to pay because they were closing the drawer. I was going to ask for dessert but since this happen I just Didn’t ask.
Most expensive sushi I have ever come across anywhere in upstate new york, You an get $15 all you can eat sushi in henrietta / greece with just as nice of a place with a far more experienced staff. Batavias own Peking buffet is an all around Asian cuisine and not just sushi, but they do also have sushi on their menu for the buffet as well. Going here to me seems like a tragic waste of a lot of money.
Went there for the first time on Wednesday August 18th. 2021 with two of my six sisters. The restaurant was clean and tidy and the servers were wonderful. We had a lot of questions and they were all answered to our satisfaction. I ordered the Mango Supreme with shrimp and honestly it was the best thing that Ive ever eaten and Ive traveled the country and eaten in many, many places. I can hardly wait to go back with all my sisters real soon!
Ok foodOld beat up furnitureOk service.I was a little worried because the servers didn’t even know what a vegan is I had to order something specific. I asked if they have vegan salad dressings and she thinks all salad dressings are vegan lol. I wanted to try the tempura if it’s not egg bartered but one of them wasn’t sure so I wasn’t confident in trying it all all.
Either call in or order online. It is currently only take out. If you actually go in and order it could take forever for you to get your food because your order goes behind everything done online or on the phone. The food quality is excellent and you pay for it. Some portions are small most are average
This place only offered pick-up, and I ordered the hibachi food that they offered. I have to say I was terribly disappointed as this food was not even close to what hibachi actually is. The rice wasnt fried it was just boiled and served. The chicken didnt seem seasoned or fresh, it just seemed like it was preprepared like the chicken in most Chinese entrees. I just think it was misleading to label that food as hibachi when there are places that serve hibachi and serve it fried and fresh. And dont get me started on the noodles they served with the hibachi. Those were the worst noodles Ive ever had with any kind of Asian cuisine. They tasted like wet spaghetti fresh from the pot. There was no flavor to them at all except watery noodle. The sushi was good but I need more than just sushi available to me. Another thing I didnt find convenient about ordering my food was when I walked in I could barely understand the clerk on the other side of the covid safety divider which resulted in him adding an entire extra hibachi entree that I didnt ask for. He must not have been able to understand me very well because of that divider but it costed me almost $20 for meal I didnt ask for. This review would have been a one star but I have to say the beef negimaki, spring rolls and sushi were good.
The service is generally very good. However, it was absolutely slow and terrible yesterday. I think they only had two servers and it was pretty crowded. Asked for small plates for our multiple appetizers and never received them. Had to pour our own wine. On a positive note, Yume does have the best red curry in Western New York. Like I said, generally a great place so Im still giving it 5 stars.
In a city short of East Asian food options, Yume definitely helps fulfill that lack. Yume has such a calming and cozy interior that is very up to date and clean. The servers are very polite and attentive! Most importantly, the food is delicious and fair priced! The lunch menu bento boxes are such a fair-priced meal option and give you a great fulfilling feeling. I will be happy to return and try out their other options knowing that the food is cleanly prepared and handled with care, while feeling welcomed by the kind servers!
Never disappointed with this place. Food is delicious and presentation amazing. Wish some of the specialty rolls were priced a bit lower.Im happy that Batavia has this place. Great menu selections, not all sushi, lots to offer, for everyone.Would love to see an all you can eat sushi/ menu offering once a month...
I was never a sushi fan, Its still not my absolute favorite, but I love this place. O am learning to like different types of sushi and the full Asian menu they have is amazing. The undon noodles and the coconut chicken are insane!!!! The service is great very nice presentation too....
A jewel of Asian cuisine for the Batavia area. Fantastic food all around. Very modern Asian inspired environment that shows the owners are really putting their heart and soul into this establishment.Service is speedy and attentive. The serving size of the dishes is more that satisfactory. You will leave happy and full for sure.
So bomb. I was in heaven. Im from Cali and have been to the best of the best. For an east coast place it was impressive. The set up is very cool. Kind of a romantic atmosphere. I would recommend taking a date here. My kids even liked the teriyaki chicken. The service was great.
The sushi is great! The service is horrible. The food was just alright. After being seated we waited 15min before anyone asked us our drink order. No refills after that. The food had a lot of sauce and no flavor. It was chewy and seemed as if it was cooked in a microwave. Unless I’m in the mood for sushi (which I would order for take out) I would never return here or recommend it to anyone. Very disappointed!
I was so disappointed after getting so many recommendations to come here. Service was sub par at best. We waited to be seated, no one acknowledged us for awhile, the waitress never asked us if we needed drinks. There is not a kid friendly menu there whatsoever. Once I ordered my sushi it was presented beautifully but smelled horrible, absolutely horrible!!!! I was so turned off my boyfriend and I got up and walked out. I was so queasy from the smell, fresh sushi should not smell, there is NO WAY as a chef you could serve that safely. So so so disappointed
The food and the presentation was very nice. Good size portions with good food quality. The service was the real downer here. Everything was timely, in fact the food came out very quickly, but they weren’t very attentive and probably could have sold a bit more just by asking.
Very overpriced for what is served. Sushi was terribly made, poorly cut, unevenly rolled, fish very unevenly distributed through roll, etc. Pork katsu was only a single overly breaded cutlet served on wilted lettuce with a side of white rice. The breading was a thick as the pork. Appetizers were also very expensive for very small portions (gioza were about 1/2 size of any other restaurant were been to) and not particularly good. A waste of a huge amount of money and we all left hungry.
I just read a review on here stating that the sushi was not done properly, and the katsu was not good. I have never had bad food here. From the thai basil fried rice or beef, to yaki soba or even the pork gyoza, the food is always fantastic. Yume is very much needed in a place like Batavia, one that lacks cuisine diversity. Yume is a hidden gem for Asian food lovers alike. I always come here, and recommend to anyone who wants a cozy, delicious, dine in experience.
We were very happy when Yume opened in Batavia. Its wonderful to get very well prepared and fresh sushi only minutes from home. The in restaurant experience is excellent- with meal being presented beautifully and the quality of the food very high. We also enjoy the ability to call and take-out a delicious meal. We enjoy both the sushi and the other menu items (the Chinese food and Indian inspired food). Cannot recommend enough.
There isnt a better sushi place around. The service isnt best, especially seeing how often the servers are spotted standing around, but the food as well as the prices makes it worth it. Go for lunch and get the sushi or sashimi box. Fantastic value. If youre looking for top tier service, youll rate this lower. If you look for food quality at affordable prices, you have to get here.
My brother and I went for lunch on a Sunday. We both had the Spicy Girl tempura roll (YUM!), Philadelphia roll, and California roll. The food was 5 star. Service was fast and friendly. The only problem was they gave us a roll we did not order and we were missing a Spicy Girl. They got it right out to us!
We always order to go food from this place when Im at work . I had some issues in the past with my orders but nothing like today. I found a piece of black thick hair mixed with eggs in my fried rice when I called Yume to report it the lady asked me multiple questions about the color and thickness of the hair lije she didnt believe me which I think was unnecessary since I was a loyal costumer. I was offered a refund or another friend rice but I couldnt go back immediately since I was at work and my lunch was over. I then went after work and she started questioning me about the rice not been intact. She started questioning why I ate some of it and my answer was because I didnt find the hair right away and I was hungry. Por service and respect to loyal costumers. Very disappointed of this restaurant. Will never go back :(
Quite nice looking inside. They give you a lot of food per plate. Be prepared to take some home. Also the serving are plated well. My friend and I had little carrot flowers and the man next to us a a carved dragon head. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Best restaurant in Batavia, hands down. I even know people who come here from buffalo and Rochester. The presentation is really exquisite, with flowers and little carrot-shaving animals on just about every plate. Ive been there numerous times and have always been very impressed with my meal and everybody elses. The wait staff always give explanations when asked, which is helpful when you forget what fish is on your plate!
We really enjoy going to YUME in Batavia! The food is delicious and the price is right! The restaurant is very clean and the servers are very nice and polite! They have a great menu and we have tried many items and have never been disappointed we have never had a bad experience there ever! I think that this is the best restaurant in Batavia!!
Ordered take out from here today... worst experience of my life! My order was wrong, my chicken was raw, and the service was terrible. I stood at the counter for at least 5-7 min before someone even acknowledged I was there, then when they did, she walked away for another 5 min. When I called to complain, after i realized how bad my order was, (i was at work and couldnt go back) I got passed around from person to person and in the end, i got oh so sorry . I love Japanese food and have had decent food from here before but after today I will never go back!Update- I got a call from yume apologizing greatly..they went out of their way to rectify the situation. They remade my meal and it was perfect. Thanks guys! U won me back!
Very disappointed! We were sat within a minute of arriving and completely ignored after that. No menu no water so after about 20 minutes we left. With only 5 tables there service was very slow.Kids were extremely disappointed. If there like that on a Tuesday I wonder what its like on a Saturday?!!
I visit this place whenever I visit Batavia. The food is pretty good and their portion size for their bento box is satisfying. The resturant has a nice modern look. However, there are a few bizare decor decisions that keep this from being a 5. On the ceilung they got a decoration that is often used for Christmas. I dont know what it ia called and to be honest it is more of a nitpick. Also, kitchen needs a different tapestry in lieu of a door. It should be larger. Overall, this is a great find for japanese food.
Yume has been our date night spot since they opened and usually our meals and service are more than spot on. But when we visited the day after Christmas both of us said that something was off. My boyfriends Hibachi Chicken was mostly grizzle and he left at least half on his plate. My sushi roll was ok-seemed a little off and barely had any wasibi on the side. In the past Ive given Yume 5 stars for service and food, but this latest visit was very disappointing when it came to the food. Service is awesome as always.

2022-02-26Their sushi presentation is the best I have ever seen in my entire live. Always fresh and delicious 😋 😍 service is excellent. Amazing ambience and news too. The bathroom was very clean and well equipped too. Enough space between tables to confidently remove masks . Servers and chefs have masks too. Prices are reasonable too. I live 1 hour away but I will visit more Batavia now that I now this awesome restaurant. So keep it up, please. People support this restaurant, it is the best!!!!

2022-02-27Great food, wide selection and reasonably priced. Something for everyone, even if youre not a sushi-fan. Service could have been better/faster but it was also a busier time of day. Will be back!

2022-04-14Great food! Awesome service! The vegetarian options are lacking (make sure to ask as most tofu items contain fish sauce, but can be served plain)…. but what I could get was awesome! My friend got the sushi and loved it! Veggie GoyozaIs great!

2022-04-13I placed an online order for two bento boxes, by the time I got there 20 minutes after ordering they were already to go. They were very good and I plan on ordering another soon! The customer service is very good too, I had dinner with my girlfriend here and the waitresses were very nice and patient when we were ordering sushi by the plate.

2022-02-13A great little find in Batavia!!! Ill be going back a lot! The dinner are recently good and the sushi is the best Ive had within 35 miles of Batavia.********Ive come back a few times now and still live the food, but they are struggling with the demand. It takes way to long to get service or even seated...*********Another edit. The closed 2 months ago because if covid and have not updated their website or any other listing about that. They still take and process online orders. I arrived to pick up my food after getting a confirmation email about it and found them to be closed. That is completely unacceptable.************February 2022They are back to normal, and probably have been for a while. Take out is good, eat in is good.

2022-06-07The food and service was fantastic. It is pricier than most takeout places, but the quality is much higher. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner.

2019-12-08Amazing asian. It is a hidden venue, but a solid six / five. We had the sushami, a pineapple chicken, served in a 1/2 pineapple, & chicken pad thai. The waitresses were adorable, the sushi fresh with a stunning presentation and the venue is clean and well decorated. Well be back!

2018-12-01Usually a pretty awesome experience. however the waitress did mess up our order. we got two appetizers and 1 main dish instead.despite this on time hiccup, i have been here many times prior and i think the food is phenomenal. i live in buffalo and eat plenty of sushi from that area. this place could compete with kunis, wegmans, and wasabi.
